Hypercholesterolemia is one of the dreadful conditions that coexist in almost all the heart and endocrine-related dysfunctions. Simply elevated cholesterol levels in the blood is termed as hypercholesterolemia. Hyperlipidemia is also a synonym term and used to define elevated lipid levels. It affects almost all human beings in the world currently because of the changes in the food and living habits of the people. Most works proved those chemical constituents are antioxidants that demonstrate that the assertion that the oxidation is the main problem in causing the hyperlipidemia. So, in this research, antioxidant herbs like Psidium guava, Tephrosia and Moringa are used to prepare a gel that targets the fat deposits it the body and investigate for the antihyperlipidemic property. Herbal microspheres were prepared using the extracts of Tephrosia, Moringa and Psidium, which are incorporated into the sodium alginate and calcium carbonate. These microspheres were tested for their hyperlipidemic activity along with the extracts as such, and the results showed the microspheres showing better activity compared to the extracts compared to the standard drug atorvastatin.

Hyperlipidemia is the immediate results of the excessive fat intake in food. This results in the elevated levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. This leads to heart conditions like CAD, hypertension, congestive heart failure as risk factors which can be lethal. There are many drugs to treat and control the lipids levels in the body. These drugs are either designed to prevent LDL accumulation and VLDL synthesis. Some drugs also lower the elevated levels of saturated lipids in the body. But many drugs are known to cause side effects and adverse effects; therefore, alternatives to the drugs are the subjects for current investigations. Herbs and medicinal plants are used as treatment sources for many years. They have been used in the Indian medical systems like Ayurveda, Siddha etc. As the application of herbs in the treatment is growing, there is an urgent need for the establishment of Pharmacological reasoning and standardization of the activity of the medicinal plants. Chloris paraguaiensis Steud. is Poyaceae member that is called locally as Uppugaddi. Traditionally it is used to treat Rheumatism, Diabetes, fever and diarrhoea. The chemical constituents are known to have anti-oxidant properties and most of the anti-oxidants have anti-hyperlipidemic activity too. Since the plant has abundant flavonoid and phenol content, the current research focusses on the investigation of the anti-hyperlipidemic activity of the plant Chloris extracts. Extracts of Chloris at 200mg/kg showed a comparably similar anti hyperlipidemia activity to that of the standard drug. The extracts showed a dose based increase in the activity at 100 and 200mg/kg body weight.

SummaryTo investigate a potential role of stromelysin-1 (MMP-3) in development of adipose tissue, 5 week old male MMP-3 deficient mice (MMP-3-/-) and wild-type (MMP-3+/+) controls were kept on a high fat diet (HFD) for 15 weeks. MMP-3-/- mice were hyperphagic and gained more weight than the MMP-3+/+ mice. At the time of sacrifice, the body weight of the MMP-3-/- mice was significantly higher than that of the MMP-3+/+ mice, as was the weight of the isolated subcutaneous (SC) and gonadal (GON) fat deposits. Significant adipocyte hypertrophy was observed in the GON but not in the SC adipose tissue of MMP-3-/- mice. Fasting plasma glucose and cholesterol levels were comparable in both genotypes, whereas triglyceride levels were significantly lower in MMP-3-/- mice. Staining with an endothelial cell specific lectin revealed a significantly higher blood vessel density and larger total stained area in the GON adipose tissues of MMP-3-/- mice. Thus, in a murine model of nutritionally induced obesity, MMP-3 impairs adipose tissue development, possibly by affecting food intake and/or adipose tissue-related angiogenesis.Theme paper: Part of this paper was originally presented at the joint meetings of the 16th International Congress of the International Society of Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis (ISFP) and the 17th International Fibrinogen Workshop of the International Fibrinogen Research Society (IFRS) held in Munich, Germany, September, 2002.

The process of inflammation and the arthritis was induced due to the immune system problems in elderly patients. They are encountering problems with the immune system which identifies the own body as a foreign system and acts against it. This causes inflammation in the joints and therefore causing pain and swelling in the joints. This immunity lowering drugs are the major classes of drugs that will affect the human body by lowering the immunity, and the side effects are caused by the opportunistic infections that occur when the body has low immunity. These effects are now dangerous, and the drugs that treat arthritis are now considered deadly, and their use is minimized too. In this respect, the herbs are found to be the best sources of the treatment of arthritis that produce the chemical constituents that target and cure inflammation that causes arthritis. The plant extract was used to incorporate into the ointment, and this was investigated for the anti-arthritic activity. This was compared to the activity of the extract and standard drug. The ointment that was prepared showed a significantly better activity compared with the standard drug.

Cholesterol and lipids are the major class of metabolites that are used to store high energy in the form of fats in the body. They are often stored in specific places in the system and some times misplaced in the bloodstream and other areas leading to metabolic disorders. The elevation in their quantities in serum is often termed as Hyperlipidemia. It affects most the worlds population adversely and is the causative factor for many comorbidities. Usually, medicinal plants exhibit the activities which are mainly due to the chemical constituents in them that are mostly phenols and flavonols. The plant Luffa aegiptiaca was investigated for its hyperlipidemic activity in high-fat diet-induced diabetes method. The results showed hyperlipidemic activity by lowering the lipid levels in the serum Four parts of the plant Luffa aegiptiaca were investigated for the antihyperlipidemic activity by extracting them with ethanol. These were tested for the lipid reducing property in the rat models induced by poloxamer drug. There was a successful induction of the Hyperlipidemia in the animals. The extracts showed a significant activity int his model. Fruits and leaves showed the best activity compared to other parts.

Ageing is a process of unfavorable progressive changes associated with decline in vigour and ending in death. Ageing is the part of life which is unavoidable but the untimely aging can be stopped. The process of ageing involves the coexistence of two opposing factor namely evolution (growth) and involution (atrophy). These processes continue to operate throughout the life but their importance varies in different age groups. As the age advanced, human beings gradually lose some of their attributes, because of functional and structural alteration in almost all organ systems. Ageing in individuals is affected to a greater extent by genetic factors, diet, social conditions and the occurrence of age related disorders. Anti oxidants can speed up the cell division and cell replacement process, which can help to slow the overall effects of ageing and prevent specific age related diseases. It also deactivates the free radicals and prevents their formation and also stimulates the immune system to increase our protection against all diseases. Like anti-oxidant in Ayurveda the Rasayana therapy not only helped attain longer, healthier life but also help cure some of the dreadful diseases. Rasayana aid in increasing natural immunity, enhancing general wellbeing, improving the functioning of all fundamental organs of the body and keep the signs of early ageing. The main purpose of Rasayana therapy is to impede the ageing process and to delay the degenerative process in the body.

Language is a jewel in the human body. If it is not available, no phenomenon can compensate for its absence. Every human with a language is known as a skillful person. If language is downfallen, almost all human beings’ relations are damaged. Language, like all other phenomena of human culture, is closely linked to a human community, an event that occurs in a community, taking its own steps towards perfection in that community. Language is the only source of communication among the people. In fact, it is a source of reflection of the aspirations and desires of the people and a great tool for finding ways to meet their needs. In the process of research, I have clarified what language means, what it is called. As a result of the research, it has also become clear what is its value in social life, what is its importance. Language functions were also highlighted during the research. Some important factors and characteristics that lead to the development of a language are highlighted in details. If the speakers of any language take advantage of the mentioned ways to develop their language, to contrive for it to conclude all the mentioned possibilities and factors in their language, I am sure that their language will be taken place among the advanced languages.

Almost two centuries ago Dr. Bassignot described an unusual skin disease of newborn infants in these words: Seyne or Sedna, a small town in Provence is the theatre of a very peculiar disease, which attacks almost all the new born infants at that place. Some authors have spoken of it under the name of crinons or comedons; but it is known by the people of the country under the name of cees, a corruption of ceddes, a provincial term which signifies a bristle. It sometimes manifests itself within the space of twelve hours, sometimes. however, not till the end of fifteen days, or even a month. The symptoms by which this disease is known, are a very considerable itching, which is augmented by the heat of the bed, and prevents the infant from sleeping; a perpetual agitation; an inability to suck, the child's tongue not being able to accommodate itself to the nipple; and, at last, the noise of its cries being diminished, which become hoarse, and are indeed almost extinguished. This last sign appears to be the most certain; and they in general judge of the severity of the disease by the degree to which the voice is extinguished, and by the weakness of the cries of the infant. When, by these signs, the disease is known to be present, they proceed immediately to the cure. This consists in frictions, which are performed by the women of the country, and who are so much in the habit of treating this disease, that they do not in general call in the aid of any medical practitioner. These frictions are performed on different parts of the body, according to the state of the disease that is present. And they distinguish these stages of it, which are sometimes very distinct, sometimes united. In the first, the diminution of the noise in crying is conjoined with a total incapability of sucking. This required friction at the upper part of the sternum, on the fore and back parts of the neck, on the cheeks towards the angle of the inferior jaw, and on the temples. In the second state of the disease, the infant still enjoys a certain facility in moving the tongue, without, however, being able properly to seize the nipple; when the arms are set at liberty they are extended, the fingers are spread out with a considerable degree of tension, or the hand is firmly clenched. This state requires friction of the fore-arm, from the shoulder to the wrist. The third stage is distinguished merely by a diminution of the cries; then frictions are directed to the arms, the shoulders, the back, and even to the calves of the legs; which probably, as well as the hands, demonstrate the existence of crinons in these parts, by some particular movement, but which has not yet been sufficiently attended to.

Marma Chikitsa is an untouched chapter of Indian system. In Vedas and literatures of ayurveda, the concept of marma was limited to war, and were mainly considered as only fatal points. Trauma to them leads to deformity or even death. Different authorities of ayurveda mentioned 107 Marma points based on anatomical positions and different structures around them. Marma are seats of Prana (Vital points), they effect physical, mental, social, spiritual and health conditions of human beings. The flow of Prana or vital energy in the body maintains different physiological, mental and spiritual activities. If the flow of Prana or vital energy gets obstructed or blocked, the physiology is disturbed and pathology start developing. Marma points are stimulated by different techniques or methods, so by stimulations, Marma may be directed to remove blockages and stimulate Prana or energy flow thus resulting in a state of healthy body, mind and spirit. Marma Chikitsa is an instant, permanent, natural and non-invasive way of healing in present scenario. Marma Chikitsa had emerged as new dimensions in non- pharmacological treatment of Ayurveda. The health of the people reflects the social welfare parameters of anycivilized state. So, knowledge of Marma and Marma Chikitsa will be beneficial in maintenance of health and pre- vention from diseases. It is said that there was nectar in the umbilicus of Ravana. Lord Rama fired an arrow into the umbilicus of Ravana causing his death. Lord Krishna was killed by the injury of an arrow, on the sole of his foot, thrown by a bird kill- er. As we know that Bhisma Pitamaha (of Mahabharata) was injured by a number of arrows pierced in his body but he lived with arrows for six months. It was only due to the safety of the vital Marma points. Keywords: Marma, Marma Chikitsa, Prana
