According to research published by Optum Research teachers reported that job related stress impacts their on task performance. A survey developed by Optum research revealed that o f the Mid Western teachers who were surveyed four out of ten teachers experience at least a high level of job stress. The survey found that 6 percent of teachers experience very high related job stress, 38 percent experience high stress, 44 percent medium stress and 12 percent very low stress. The relationships of perceived mattering to others, job-related stress, and job satisfaction were examined for 388 elementary, middle, and high school counselors from across the United States. Participants completed the School Counselor Mattering Scale, the School Counselor Job-Stress Assessment, and several job satisfaction questions in order to assess perceptions of mattering to others at their schools and their job-related stress, and how these two constructs relate to school counselors’ overall job satisfaction. Mattering to others at work and job-related stress accounted for 35% of the variance in job satisfaction for the total sample of school counselors; however, mattering did not moderate the relationship between job stress and job satisfaction. Results revealed that elementary school counselors experienced the greatest job satisfaction and the lowest levels of job-related stress, and high school counselors experienced the greatest job dissatisfaction and the greatest levels of job-related stress. Implications for school counselors’ mattering and job satisfaction are considered.

INTRODUCTION: Many women face problems related to infertility in various aspects of their life. Also, it is not comfortable to discuss on this issue. Because of this, the feelings and distress faced by women may not come out and the pent up emotions may lead to different stress related problems.   MATERIAL AND METHODS : A descriptive research design was adopted to assess the stress and coping mechanism of infertile women attending infertility clinic in Kathmandu Nepal. The study was conducted from October 2011 to January 2013. Purposive sampling technique was used and sample size was 100. Data was collected through semi- structured interview using; 'Perceived Stress Scale'(PSS) and 'Coping Check List' (CCL).   RESULTS: Regarding stress level of respondents, 40% were at very high level of stress and 35% with high level of stress. High level stress was found among the age group of 21-30 years. In relation to level of stress and coping strategies, 54.17% respondents with high stress used religious coping strategies, 50% of the respondents with very high stress also used religious coping, followed by 40% emotional coping and 37.5% problem focused coping and seeking social support strategies to overcome the stress.   CONCLUSION: It can be concluded that the  almost more than half of the respondents were under high level of stress and mostly were those who are under  treatment for more than 1-3 yrs of duration. The study also concluded that the higher the age the respondents were more stressed due to the infertility. Abstract This study aimed to determine the frequency of work-related musculoskeletal discomforts (WMSDs) observed in veterinarians and the risk factors that may bring about these. Two hundred and seven veterinarians working in three provinces in south west Turkey were included in the study. The demographic and occupational information on the participants was recorded. The Modified Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire was used to evaluate the musculoskeletal problems of different body parts, which cause difficulties at work and result in staying away from work. 49.8 % of veterinarians mostly have problems with lower back, 41.1 % with back, and 39.1 % with neck. The frequency of WMSDs tends to increase with the progress of professional experience. Three work-related activities during which veterinarians experience most difficulties while at work are obstetric procedures (28 %), vaccination (25.6 %), and driving (23.2 %). It is statistically significant that arm problems are observed more in veterinarians working with large animal types (p<0.05). The high level of job related stress and low job satisfaction statistically significantly affect the formation of WMSDs (p<0.05). The study showed that a large number of veterinarians experienced work-related musculoskeletal pain and discomforts that could be caused by some physical and psychosocial risk factors. Therefore, it is recommended for veterinarians to receive education on ergonomics and exercise from the beginning of their professional lives to prevent WMSDs.

Abstract Job-related stress might affect smoking behavior because smoking may relieve stress and stress can make individuals more present-focused. Alternatively, individuals may both self-select into stressful jobs and choose to smoke based on unobserved factors. We use data from the Health and Retirement Study to examine how job stress affects the probability that smokers quit and the number of cigarettes smoked for current smokers. To address the potential endogeneity of job stress based on time invariant factors, we include individual fixed effects, which control for factors such as ability to handle stress. Occupational fixed effects are also included to control for occupational characteristics other than stress; time dummies control for the secular decline in smoking rates. Using a sample of people who smoked in the previous wave, we find that job stress is positively related to continuing to smoke among recent smokers. The results indicate that the key impact of stress is on the extensive margin of smoking, as opposed to the number of cigarettes smoked.

AbstractMentoring received by protégés has been shown to play an important role in relieving protégés’ job-related stress. However, literature on the relationship between mentoring and job-related stress has yielded mixed and inconclusive results. Our research seeks to reconcile the conflicting implications by examining protégés’ individual traditionality and trust in mentor as moderators on the relationship between mentoring and job-related stress. We tested the hypotheses with data from a sample of 210 protégés from a large company in China. Results of our two-way and three-way interaction effect tests revealed that: (1) traditionality moderated the negative relationship between mentoring and job-related stress in such a way that the relationship was stronger for protégés with higher rather than lower traditionality; (2) the influence that mentoring had on job-related stress was strongest for protégés with both high traditionality and a high level of trust in mentor.

Cytokines such as angiogenin (ANG) and interleukin (IL-8) have been shown to be related to depressive symptoms and inflammatory diseases like coronary heart disease. They may thus be used as stress biomarkers to identify and prevent health problems. To investigate the relationship between cytokines and nurses' job-related stress, levels of urinary ANG and IL-8 were measured in healthy female hospital nurses in Japan. The level of job-related stress of the subjects was evaluated using the Nursing Stress Scale (NSS), with the participants being classified into high- or low-stress groups for each subscale according to their scores. The participants' subjective psychological states were assessed using the Profile of Mood States—Short Form Japanese version (POMS-SFJ). Urinary ANG, IL-8, and cortisol levels and subjective psychological states for two groups were compared for each NSS subscale. The fatigue and depression scores of POMS-SFJ subscales in the present study were higher than those of the general healthy Japanese population. Based on the mean score of the combined participants, nurses were experiencing the highest stress related to the pressure of having responsibility for patients' life support care (PPLC). Nurses reporting high levels of stress related to PPLC and conflict with physicians had high levels of urinary ANG. Urinary ANG levels may thus be associated with high levels of job stress.

Background/Aim. Accelerated technological and organizational changes in numerous professions lead to increase in jobrelated stress. Since these changes are particularly common in military aviation, this study examined the way military aviation crew experiences job-related stress during a regular aviation drill, depending on particular social-demographic factors and personal traits. Methods. The modified Cooper questionnaire was used to examine the stress related factors at work. The questionnaire was adapted for the aviation crew in the army environment. Personal characteristics were examined using the NEO-PI-R personality inventory. The study included 50 examinees (37 pilots and 13 other crew members) employed in the Serbian Army. The studies were performed during routine physical examinations at the Institute for Aviation Medicine during the year 2007. Statistical analysis of the study results contained descriptive analysis, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis. Results. It was shown that army aviation crew works under high stress. The highest stress value had the intrinsic factor (AS = 40.94) and role in organisation (AS = 39.92), while the lowest one had the interpersonal relationship factor (AS = 29.98). The results also showed that some social-demographic variables (such as younger examinees, shorter working experience ) and neuroticism as a personality trait, were in correlation with job-related stress. Conclusion. Stress evaluation and certain personality characteristics examination can be used for the devalopment of the basic anti-stress programs and measures in order to achieve better psychological selection, adaptation career leadership and organization of military pilots and other crew members.

The repeated losses experienced by a clinical oncologist may constitute a significant source of personal stress. Studies documenting high stress levels on oncology services and the prevalence among physicians of alcoholism, cirrhosis, suicide, and marital discord lend urgency to the need to examine etiologic factors, clinical manifestations, and strategies for the management of job-related stress. Significant etiologic factors include death as an existential fact emphasizing our finite nature, the cumulative grief associated with repeated unresolved losses, the pressure of a health care system fueled by the medical information explosion, the inability to achieve the idealistic goals embraced by holistic medical care, stresses inherent in working as a "team," and an undermined context of meaning as an outcome of treatment failures. Clinical manifestations of stress are reviewed as an aid to early diagnosis. Strategies useful in the prevention and management of stress include the encouragement of increased awareness of stress in self and colleagues, the clarification of appropriate goals and priorities, encouragement of appropriate limit setting, the mobilization of collaborative input, the clarification of team roles and organizational patterns, the establishment of team support meetings and favorable working conditions, exercise, and the clarification and working through of previously unresolved personal psychodynamic issues. Differences between the work-related stress involved in clinical oncology as compared with hospice care are examined.

Introduction: Nursing is considered as one of the most stressful and demanding profession. In the health care organizations, work stress may contribute to absenteeism and turnover, both of which detract from the quality of care. The aim of this study was to assess the job-related stress and to identify and compare the factors associated with job stress among nurses’ working in selected hospitals of Pokhara, Nepal. Methods: The descriptive research design based on simple random sampling method was used. The sample size was 238. The data was collected using self-administered questionnaire consisted of socio-demographic information and Expanded Nursing Stress Scale. Both descriptive and inferential statistics was used for data analysis. Results: The study findings showed that majority of nurses were in moderate level of stress and ‘patients and their families' were the most stressful factors perceived by both government and private hospital nurses. ‘Problems with peers’ was the least stressful factor perceived by both group of nurses and experiencing ‘discrimination’ was also the least stressful factors for private hospital nurses. Furthermore, a chi-square test revealed significant association between work setting and job stress in government hospital nurses. Conclusions: Nurses working in the both government and private hospitals were working under stressful conditions.

The main target of this research study is to dig-out the impact of biometric attendance on teachers’ performance at Hazara University. A self-administered structured questionnaire is developed for data collection. A sample of 150 employees are chosen from the targeted population through stratified random sampling. The collected data is collated, coded, and punched in the SPSS for descriptive and inferential analysis. The results point out that 67% of those informants are male, while 33% are females. The highest number, 58% of employees are in Grade-18, and only 5% employees are in Grade-21. Further, it shows that 88% participants are agreed to the installation of biometric attendance system. However, 87% respondents agreed that biometric system ensures teachers attendance on time. Moreover, correlation analysis results indicate that biometric system has a strong positive significant relationship with employees’ attendance and employees’ performance. But it has a significant negative relationship with job-related stress. Alongside, by independent sample T-test, gender differences are found that females are more in job-related stress than male due to the biometric system. The study concludes that biometric system has a high-level significant influence on the teachers’ attendance schedule and their performance. Further, the study recommends the application of biometric attendance system in academia, it will, in turn, improve and ensure the performance level of employees.
