The paper focuses on world air transport. Its development and new tendencies are recalled. The main attention is paid to consequences of the SARSCoV-2 pandemic on world air transport and international tourism, including regional differences. The author also outlines problems with a state support for selected airlines and the absence of this assistance to Czech Airlines (CSA), which is in a danger of extinction. Numerical data come from relevant statistical databases and are concentrated in 4 tables and 11 graphs.

International tourism arrivals by air account for almost 60% of all tourism arrivals. Despite the spectacular increase in air connectivity there are distinct differences between connectivity types, with direct and indirect connectivity, airport connectivity and hub connectivity. Tourism destinations are impacted by the air connectivity type that is available in their nearby or serving airport. The aim of this chapter is to discuss the tourism dynamics resulting from the emerging transformations in air connectivity, and the implications on international air travel. Increased air connectivity is linked to economic growth and development, however direct air connectivity has been driving both tourism and air transport industries. The introduction of new aircraft which can fly longer and more economically is likely to transform direct connectivity and hub connectivity at the same time. Airline business models have evolved over the last 20 years and it is highly likely that this transformation will continue to unfold since the market and the passengers’ needs are constantly evolving. Implications for airlines and destinations will be discussed, outlining the trends which are dominating the industry in terms of connectivity and its relation to tourism destinations.

Preliminary results for 2002, as presented by the World Tourism Organization (WTO), show a reasonable improvement in tourism demand with international tourism worldwide increasing by an estimated 3%. Asia and the Pacific and the Middle East led growth, Africa grew above the world average and Europe below, while the Americas slightly decreased. In the second part of this issue's Databank, the author takes a closer look at the evolution of air transport after 11 September 2001, drawing on data from ICAO and various regional airline associations. The monthly traffic data reported by ATA, AEA and AAPA, the regional associations for, respectively, the major North American, European and Asian airlines, constitute a valuable source of timely information on the short-term evolution of this part of the tourism flow over the last few years.

Tourism and air transport are among the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 crisis. The pandemic lasting more than a year is reflected in short-term effects in both sectors, but there are also severe long-term consequences. National authorities will have to set recovery plans following the relevant policies and encompass international cooperation with public and private entities. The article aims to identify the methods and procedures that can be implemented, which can mitigate the consequences of the crisis and initiate the renewal of international tourism and air transport in particular. The paper's methodology is based on current statistical data and strategic documents at the national and international level represented by the international organizations (esp. UNWTO, WTTC, IATA, ICAO, ECAC). The focus is on the crisis management of the public sector entities in terms of the definition and implementation of reconstruction strategies, on private sector stakeholders, on the interconnection of the tourism and the air transport sectors, and cooperation in the international environment. Methods and tools for the renewal of both sectors are based on a strategic approach of the public sector, support for the introduction of new business models in the private sector, change in the product and marketing mix, digitization, innovation, and education. Aim: To bring attention to and highlight the significant role of foreign-language training for students in the areas of geography and tourism training. I would also like to demonstrate the positive side of the "Studienreise in Duetschland" training program of the German Academic Student Exchange Service, including the development of practical skills in international tourism. Method: The study is to analyze and systematize information on the development of international tourism in Germany derived directly from residents of the country's tourism business. The subject of research is the applied aspects of international tourism in Germany as well as the experience of organizing and operating the international tourism. Result: The article deals with the applied principles of training students and specialists in the tourism industry in Germany and analysis of the causal aspects of the development and functioning of international tourism in keeping with modern information technologies and mobility of population. The acquired knowledge and practical experience of tourists studies in the future, can be applied in the international segment of tourist services as well. Scientific news: A number of tourists and methodologists in general, considered and proposed methodological guidelines and recommendations for the conduct of educational practices at the international level. Definitely the world tourist market has a powerful resource potential and has invaluable experience in organizing and providing services based on the use of numerical data for students in leading tourist centers of Germany as well as meetings with scientists and specialists The author of the study highlights and analyzes the main organizational and teaching-methods and types that will work during international tourist training programs. Practical significance: The issue of international tourist training practices has not been adequately addressed in literature. Materials of the proposed study, the specifics of this type of tourism was paid little attention. The study provides a better understanding of the beginnings of leisure tourism. It is emphasized that the aviation area is a high-tech sector of the economy of any state, the dynamic development of which requires streamlining national legislation in this area, expanding international cooperation, updating legal instruments used by public authorities in state regulation in the air transport area. In this regard, it is emphasized that the efficiency of the air transport area directly depends on the status of state regulation of aviation activities. As a result of the legislative understanding of the composition of air transport, it is concluded that air transport in this case is understood in a broad sense not only as a set of direct aircraft, but also as a holistic system, which also includes a set of objects for ensuring air transport functioning, air traffic control, etc. It is emphasized that such an interpretation of air transport is not entirely appropriate, as it significantly expands the understanding of this term. In this regard, the expediency of understanding air transport exclusively as a set of vehicles that are united only by their inherent characteristics (transportation in the airspace) is justified. And it is already expedient to single out the objects, the functioning of which has the providing (service) nature and creates conditions for the proper operation of the air transport itself. The significance of aviation and transport for Ukraine, which ensures its functioning, is revealed. It is argued that today it is important to ensure effective state support, for example, by updating the existing system of effective state preferences and incentives for planning and production of air transport. The specific features inherent in the field of air transport as an object of state regulation are formulated. It is established that the state, realizing the importance of state support for the planning and development of modern innovative high-tech air transport, takes appropriate steps in this direction; the specified steps are outlined. The peculiarities of the negative impact of the pandemiological situation in the world since the beginning of 2020 on the aviation area of Ukraine are characterized. It is concluded that the state needs to respond appropriately, i.e. to implement appropriate state regulation of the aviation area functioning during the pandemic, in particular in the implementation of air transportation in exceptional cases, the operation of airfields and airports in quarantine, aircraft parking in designated areas, standardization of issues, related to the return of passengers for canceled flights or their rebooking, providing state support to the aviation area in connection with the cessation of financial revenues from all market participants (including by allocating subsidies from the state budget, providing state aid to ensure minimal operation of airports and airfields, exemption of airlines from paying certain types of taxes for a certain period of time), etc.

The article considers the theoretical basis for the use of commodity lending in the Samara region, including as an element of the system of state support for the agro-industrial complex of the region. The author’s classification of commodity lending is proposed. The existing experience in the use of commercial lending is analyzed. The main attention is paid to the activities of the state unitary enterprise SO “Veles”, which provides commodity lending with state support, transferring large and small commercial cattle to farms in the Samara region.

The article examines the features of the evolution of women’s sports career from the ideology of sports in the USSR up to the modern realities of the Russian Federation. The pattern of the state support and motivation of the population to go in for sports were traced. The main attention was paid to the factors and conditions that determine the transition from the traditional type of career to a number of transitional forms that are taking hold in today’s difficult conditions of economic modernization of Russian society.

Traffic accidents constitute a serious social problem. Thus, it is essential to identify and remove the risk factors affecting traffic accidents to enhance traffic safety at intersections. This study identified and quantified the main factors influencing traffic accident risk at signalized intersections to propose effective countermeasures. Google Earth was used to collect numerical data related to the geometric attributes of intersections in three regions in Japan: Kagawa, Shiga, and Aichi. A lognormal hurdle model that considered regionality and geometric attributes was then used to quantify factors influencing the risk of traffic accidents involving various types of collisions. The results indicate the existence of significant regional differences in the geometric attributes of intersections in those regions. The findings reveal that intersection size (indicated by the distance between stop lines), length of crosswalks, and setback distance of crosswalks generally and significantly influence all collision risk types; in addition, a compact intersection lowered the risk of all collision types. And in most cases, regional dummy variables were statistically significant. This finding suggests that in addition to intersection geometric attributes, regional differences in some factors influenced collision risk. Thus, it could be reasonably assumed that regionality stemmed from differences in driving characteristics.

During the last 30 years we have witnessed major changes in tourism worldwide due to a lot of factors. Changes in political situation in Eastern Europe open a lot of countries to international tourism. Changes in air transport made more accessible some overseas or island destination. The increase of general welfare boosted the demand for tourism and the stability of the socio-political environment sustains a steady upward trend in international tourism arrivals. Looking back at Romania’s tourism we see a period with major structural changes and some major turning points. A brief evolution of the sector is presented with an emphasis on the most important years. The most important regulations are presented in this paper together with their impact on Romania’s tourism sector. To show a more accurate image we include main statistical information about this topic demonstrating that tourism is an important part of Romanian economy.
