The researcher applied Pre-Experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design and collected the data by giving pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was class X IPA of SMA Negeri 1 Galesong Selatan which consisted of 33 students. The sample was taken by using the purposive technique. The research variables were teaching pronunciation by using Substitution Drill as an independent variable and dependent variable were English Consonants and English Vowel. The result of the research showed that the tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Galesong Selatan had fair score in the pre-test. After treatment, their pronunciation ability significant improved. The result of the research was the mean score obtained by the students through pre-test was 5.77 which was classified as fair classification and the mean score of the students on the post-test was 7.32 which was classified as good classification and the value of t-test was greater than t-table (16.48 > 2.037). It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded that the use of Substitution Drill was effective to improve the students’ pronunciation ability. Keywords: improvement, pronunciation, substitution drill, dental, palato alveolar

This study aims to determine the process of improving speaking skill through role play for tenth grade students of MANida'ul Khairaat Pombewe in the academic year 2020/2021. This study used pre-experimental design research methods. The researcher chose class 10thas a sample consisting of 10 students. In collecting the data, researchers used four types of instruments, namely: pre-test, treatment, post-test and documentation. The result of the data calculation showed that mean score of the students’ pre-test was 40.9, it was lower than the mean score of post-test 52.6. In analyzing the data the researchers used the 0.05 and 0.01 degree of significance and df (degree of freedom) N-1. This study has two hypothesis which are the null hypothesis or Ho (there is no improvement of using role play to the students’ speaking skill, and the alternative hypothesis or Ha (there is improvement of using role play to the students’ speaking skill). It can be concluded that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The use of role play was effective to improve the students speaking skill at the tenth grade of students in MA Nida’ul Khairaat Pombewe.

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

Testing, Demonstrating, Practicing and Revising (TDPR) technique is a technique which includes testing, demonstrating, practicing and revising activities to know and improve the students’ pronunciation ability. Deriving from the importance of pronunciation, the main purpose of the current study is to investigate the use of Testing, Demonstrating, Practicing and Revising (TDPR) technique to improve the students’ ability in pronouncing plosive consonants. Based on the purpose of the study, a series of classroom activities with TDPR technique was done. In gathering the data, the researcher applied a quasi-experimental research method. Pre-test and post-test were distributed to 72 students of SMKN 1 Praya Tengah. The result of the study has revealed that there was a significant difference between the mean of pre-test and the post-test, t-test 5.10 ˃ t-table 1.994, it means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected meanwhile alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It proved that the TDPR technique can improve students’ ability in pronouncing plosive consonants.

Kata Kunci: Tugas Awal, Ekspositori, Hasil Belajar  ABSTRACTThis research was an experimental research which aimed to discover the influence of pre-task in expository learning to students’ learning achievement of Kelas XI IPA in SMA Negeri 11 Makassar, Academic Year of 2015/2016. The writer gave pre-test, treatment, and post-test to one group. The sample of this study was 30 students of the elementary second level students at SDN 018 Samarinda. In analyzing data, the writer used t-test to find out the significance difference between the result before treatment (pre-test) and after treatment (post-test).In pre-test, from 30 students, 7 students got A (excellent), 6 students got B (good), 7 students got C (fair), 6 students got D (poor), and 4 students got E (fail). In post-test, from 30 students, 13 students got A (excellent), 8 students got B (good), 8 students got C (fair), 1 student got D (poor), and no students got E (fail). The mean score of vocabulary before treatment (pre-test) was fair (67,7) and the mean score of vocabulary after treatment (post-test) was good (78,7). The result of the findings of the study showed t-count (6.358) is greater ( ˃ ) than t-table (2.045) at level of significant (p) = 5% and df = 29. It means the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that the use of Video give very significant effects on vocabulary to the elementary second level students of SDN 018 Samarinda

This study aims to improve students’ Writing abilities using Bansky Image. The method used in research is a quantitative method with Pre Experimental as a research design. Both pre-test and post-test used as the instruments in collecting the data. The writer used one classes of the tenth grade of MA Al Fathiyah, Jakarta Timur, for the population. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling, in which one class was determined as experimental and the control class. The data was analyzed statistically by using a t-test. The result of this analysis indicated that the average value of the students was 75.7, the statistical calculation showed that the results of to (t-observation)> tt (t-table) in which to obtained was 25.357 while the value of tt was 2.037 with a significant level of 5% (0.05), since, to was higher than tt. Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted while null hypothesis was rejected. From these analysis results, this research summarized that Banksy Image was an effective medium to improve students’ Writing skills.
