<p>This research examined the effect of teaching method and lecture program on student satisfaction rate and academic achievement of physics education department of Education and Teacher Training (FKIP) of Tanjungpura University, Pontianak. The descriptive method with the causal-comparative study was employed in this research. The sample was (232) respondents of fifth semester in academic year 2016/2017 which drawn by using unproportioned stratified random sampling technique. A questionnaire of lecturer academic service satisfaction was administered. Based on data analysis, the findings of this research are: (1) There is a significant difference of student's satisfaction rate with lecturers’ academic service (t = 5.455, p ‹ 0.05) and academic achievement (t = 4.149, p ‹ 0.05)  in terms of lecture method and direct instruction model. The students who having received direct instruction show higher on statisfaction rate and academic achevement than who having received lecture method; (2) There is a significant main effect of the lecture program on the rate of student satisfaction (F= 30.346, p ‹ 0.05) and on  students academic achievement (F= 15.646, p ‹ 0.05); (3) There is no significant interaction effect of the teaching method and lecture program on student satisfaction rate (F= 0.753, p › 0.05) and academic achievement (F= 0.326, p › 0.05). It recommends that an institution should undertake internal survey to explore student satisfaction with academic services periodically.</p><em></em>

The study was designed to investigate the effectiveness of Kumon method in comparison with traditional method in the teaching of Mathematics to grade-5. Kumon is a math and reading enrichment program, which provides practice and instruction to each individual. This helps the students to think and work independently. The hypothesis of this experimental study was that in Mathematics, Grade-5 students have no significant difference in their academic achievement treated by Kumon method and by traditional lecture method. The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of Kumon teaching method for academic achievement of children in Mathematics. All grade-5 students of Fazaia inter colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad was the population. Cluster sampling technique was used. One of the three Fazaia colleges (junior section) was selected randomly. All grade-5 students of the selected cluster formed the sample of the study. The study was conducted in two phases at two different time periods applying the same procedure, the same teachers but the groups were different.  Data was collected and analyzed by applying t-test and recommendations were given on the basis of findings of the study. This experimental research shows that Kumon method is more effective for teaching mathematics to Grade 5 students in comparison with traditional lecture method. It also shows that Kumon method is equally helpful in teaching mathematics effectively to boys and girls.

The study was designed to explore the effect of concept mapping as an innovative teaching method on senior school students‟ interest in chemistry. The pre -test post- test quasi experimental design was adopted for the study. The population for the study comprised 1425 senior secondary two (SS2) chemistry students in Agbani Education Zone. A total of 189 SS2 chemistry students were drawn from three secondary schools selected in the zone through purposive sampling method. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. In each of the schools used for the study, all the chemistry students in their intact classes were used. The experimental group was taught using concept mapping while the control group was taught using the lecture method of teaching. The treatment lasted for six weeks. The instrument for data collection was Chemistry Interest Scale (CIS). The CIS was validated by three experts. Before the treatment commenced, a pre- interest scale was administered and a reliability coefficient of 0.72 was established using Cronbach Alpha. The data collected was analyzed using analysis of co variance (ANCOVA). The result of the data analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the mean interest scores of students taught chemistry with concept mapping and those taught with lecture method. The study concludes by recommending that concept mapping method of teaching should be adopted in teaching of chemistry as this has helped to stimulate interest in chemistry which will help to enhance their achievement.

The study investigated the effects of out-door activities on students’ attitude towards learning of Physics in Senior Secondary School Physics in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The research design adopted in the study was Pretest-Posttest Quasi-experimental. The sample for the study was 150 Senior Secondary One (SSI) Physics students (this sample was divided into the experimental and control groups in ratio 1: 1 i.e. 75 in each group), selected through the multistage sampling technique from a total population of 7,852 SS I students offering Physics in all the 184 public Senior Secondary Schools in Ekiti State. The instrument used to collect relevant data from the subjects was Physics Attitudinal Scale (PAS). The reliability of the instrument was determined through the split-half method with the reliability coefficient of 0.83. Two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The data collected were analysed using inferential statistics of t-test and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The results of the analyses showed that there was significant difference in the attitude of students to Physics in the experimental and control groups in favour of experimental group. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that non-conventional teaching approaches such as using out-door activities, should be introduced into the teaching of Physics in the nation’s secondary schools to reinforce the hitherto adopted conventional teaching method and Physics teachers should be encouraged to make use of these new teaching approaches.

The study was intended to find out the level of Scientific Attitude and academic achievement of B.Ed., trainees. This study involves a survey method. The size of the sample in the study was 941 B.Ed., trainees who were selected through the simple random sampling technique. The main objectives of the study are to the level of Scientific Attitude and academic achievement of B.Ed., trainees. To find out the significant difference in the Mean Scores of the level of scientific attitude and academic achievement of B.Ed., trainees with respect to the Demographic variables such as Gender, Year of Study, Subject, Locality of College. To find out whether there is any significant relationship between the Scientific Attitude and Academic Achievement of B.Ed., Trainees. The Statistical procedures used in this study were; Mean, Standard Deviation, ‘t’ test, and correlation to analyze the data. The Major findings of the study were; i) The level of Scientific Attitude and academic achievement of B.Ed., trainees is above average. ii) Female B.Ed., Trainees are a significantly higher level of Scientific Attitude and Academic Achievement than the Male B.Ed., Trainees. iii) Second-year B.Ed., Trainees are a significantly higher level of Scientific Attitude and Academic Achievement than the First-year B.Ed., Trainees. iv) The B.Ed., Trainees of Language Subject is significantly Higher Scientific Attitude than the Science Subject and Arts Subject. At the same time, the Science Subject is significantly having a higher level of Scientific Attitude than the Arts Subject. v) Urban B.Ed., Trainees are significantly higher levels of Scientific Attitude than the Rural B.Ed., Trainees. vi) There is a significant indifferent or negligible positive relationship between the Scientific Attitude and Academic Achievement. It's my conclusion that the present study reveals that there is several B.Ed., trainees who are having an above-average of the scientific attitude. However, the Academic Achievement of B.Ed., trainees are quite high.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between parental involvement and academic achievement of children in some selected full cycle government primary schools of Bahirdar city. To achieve this objective, 180 sample students were selected by using simple random sampling technique. The collected data was analyzed through, spearman correlation, analysis of variance and independent-test. The finding of the study revealed that the statistical analysis on independent t-test showed that there was a statistically significant difference between male and female students with regard to their academic achievement (t=6.25, df = 178, p<0.05). The finding of spearman correlation indicates that there was significant relationship between parental involvement and academic achievement of students (r=.56, p <.05). The result on one way ANOVA displayed that there was statistical significant difference among respondents academic achievement with regard to their parental level of education (F 2, 176) = 17.084, P<0.05. In conclusion, parental involvement is positively correlated with academic achievement of students and males have better academic performance than their female counter parts.

The objectives of this research are to investigate whether there is difference of influence student learning result after application of cooperative script learning model assisted mind map with direct instruction learning model on the subject of Program Linear class X of SMA Plus Al-Amanah Balongsumber Dander Bojonegoro in the academic year of 2014/2015. This study is a quasi-experimental study using a study design of post-test - only control design. The sampling technique using cluster random sampling technique. The sample in this research is class X-B as an experimental class and class X-C  as the control class. Data mathematics learning result obtained using the technique of tests, and the tests used in the form of an objective test. Data were analyzed by an independent comparative statistical t-test. Based on the research results, it was concluded that: there is a significant difference between students' mathematics learning result that learned through the cooperative scriptlearning model assisted mind map with the students that learned through direct instruction learning. This suggests there are differences in the effect of the cooperative script learning model assisted mind map with direct learning model mathematics instruction on learning result of students on the subject of Program Linear second semester of class X SMA Plus Al-Amanah Bojonegoro.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of using guided inquiry teaching method in improving grade eight students’ conceptual understanding of photosynthesis. The study employed Quasi-experimental research method. The data collection instruments were multiple choice tests, observation, as well as informal assessment. The pre-test and post-test were administered before and after treatment respectively. The informal assessment also administered before and after intervention. Besides, the observation was conducted from the first day up to the last day of the intervention. The pre-test and post-test data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests quantitatively while; data collected through informal assessment and observation were presented using narration. The finding of pre-test revealed that there was no significant difference between the mean score of the two groups. The post-test result revealed that experimental group students significantly improved their conceptual understanding of the topic photosynthesis compared to the control group students. The study concluded that guided inquiry teaching method is more effective than the lecture method in improving students’ conceptual understanding of photosynthesis. Based on the finding of this study, it was recommended that governments should encourage biology teachers to apply guided inquiry teaching method by providing appropriate instructional material. This study aims to compare the effect of storytelling in teaching on students' academic achievement with the traditional teaching method. In addition, it aims to reveal the effect of story education given to students on students' story writing skills and their opinions regarding storytelling in teaching. The study was carried out in a public primary school. The mixed research method was employed in the study. A total of 61 primary school 3rd-grade students, 31 experiments and 30 controls, participated in the study. The "Academic Achievement Test" was applied to the experimental and control group students to collect quantitative data. The journey to the world of living beings unit was taught in the experimental group for four weeks by using the stories prepared by the researcher. At the end of each lesson, the students were asked to write a science story on the subject. The "Story Writing Skills Evaluation Scale" was used to determine the change in the story writing skills of the experimental group students, and the "Student Opinion Form on Storytelling" was used to reveal the students' thoughts about storytelling in teaching activities. The traditional teaching method was used in the control group. The quantitative data used in the study were analyzed using the SPSS statistical software. The qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. Among the quantitative findings of the study, while there was no significant difference found between the pre-test mean scores of the experimental and control groups achievement test, a significant difference was found between the post-test scores in favor of the experimental group. The other quantitative finding of the study, in the evaluation of story writing skill, a significant difference was found between the first and the last story in favor of the last story. Positive findings were also obtained in the qualitative dimension of the study, such as the experimental group students are not unfamiliar with stories, it is fun for them to use in science lessons, and can be used in other lessons.

The main objective of this study is to identify the effectiveness of teaching methods in teaching English language through figures of speech. Thirty-one figures of speech were selected from different prose adverse lines for the study.  The study was experimental in nature and the pretest-post test control group research design was adopted among 120 bachelor third year education students from five campuses of Makawanpur District, Nepal. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the students to form the Control Group and the Experimental Group which were taught by using the lecture teaching method and the discussion teaching method respectively for thirty five days. The paired samples t test in SPSS Version 20 was used to compare Total Pretest Mean Score and Total Posttest Mean Score within groups. The overall reliability of the instruments based on the posttest scores of the students of the both groups of the pilot study was .979 and that of the research study was .968.  The pair samples t test between the Total Pretest Mean Score and the Total Posttest Mean Score of the Control Group (observed t- value=20.652, critical t- value= 2.001 and p< .05) and the Experimental Group (observed t- value= 42.907, critical t- value= 2.001 and p< .05) show that there was a statistically significant difference between the Total Pretest Mean Score and the Total Posttest Mean Score in each group. It justifies that the lecture teaching method and the discussion teaching method were effective within each group.

Efforts to improve caregiver’s knowledge on hallucination is by providing an education the caregivers. Enhancing such knowledge can be carried out by different methods, include lecture and watching video methods. The purpose of the present research was to compare the effectiveness of lecture  and watching video method in enhancing caregiver’s knowledge on hallucination.          The research used a quasi-experiment method with a pretest and posttest group design, with the research sample was 60. The sampling technique used was a total sampling. The scores of caregiver’s knowledge were determined by a questionnaire of knowledge on hallucination that was self-developed by validity test (0.707) and reliability test (0.968). The data obtained was then tested by using Independent Sample T-test, Mann-Whitney test, and Wilcoxon test.          The result of pretest of caregiver’s knowledge before the intervention showed that there was no difference between intervention and control group (p-value=0.624), while result of posttest of caregiver’s knowledge after the intervention showed that there was a significant difference between lecture group and video group (p-value=0.000). The research findings revealed that there was a significant increase in the scores of knowledge for both methods (p-value=0.000), but the increase of video group’s knowledge score was higher (4.23) than that of lecture group (2.57).          The conclusion of the research was that wathing video method was more effective than lecture method in enhancing caregiver’s knowledge so that video can be used as an alternative method for mental health education.
