The subject of the research is the NEO and Ethereum cryptocurrencies. The relevance of the research is due to the following.First, these cryptocurrencies are expected to play the key role in establishing the future digital economy. Second, cryptocurrency developers are competing to gain leading positions in the development of financial technologies of the digital revolution. Third, the above cryptocurrencies are designed to perform almost identical functions, therefore, to determine the advantages of either of them, a comparative analysis is needed and appropriate conclusions for the Russian economy should be made. The purpose of the paper was to perform a comparative analysis of the Ethereum and NEO cryptocurrencies to identify trends in the digital economy of the future and determine the main targets to enable Russia’s entry into the top five largest world economies. The information sources include articles, books, regulations, departmental documents and conference materials on FinTech, crypto-markets and the digital economy. The research made it possible to reveal specific features of the cryptocurrencies and the corresponding digital platforms that are important for the development of the digital economy of the future. The goal of Ethereum developers is to create a platform for decentralized applications, based on which it will be possible to form a global, easy-to-access, free and reliable Internet of the future. The paper concludes that at present, the NEO has advantages over the Ethereum in terms of both the transaction speed and operational fitness for the development of prospective technologies of the digital economy. However, it may happen that in the near future, the Ethereum developers will be able to improve their blockchain technology so as to ensure the priority of their project in the competition for leadership in the development of the digital economy of the future. Given the contradictions revealed and taking into account the raw materials orientation of the Russian economy, a number of targets are proposed to bring Russia into the five largest world economies.

Regional infrastructure of the digital economy is the object of this paper. And the subject is the institutional mechanisms for the infrastructure distribution from the urban lattice to the small rural settlement in the districts peripheral territories. Authors made analysis of the volumes, structure and priorities of the national project "Digital Economy" financing. A forecast is made for financing R&D in the Russian Federation in the period 2019-2024 based on government documents, forecasts of GDP and the ruble exchange rate. A comparative analysis of the adequacy of R&D funding in the Russian Federation is carried out. The problem that Russian districts will face in the transformation to the digital economy is identified - a deficit in the infrastructure of the digital economy and the spatial characteristics of this deficit are revealed. The author formulated the concepts of objective (structural) and subjective (strategic) barriers to investment in regional infrastructure. Methods for solving a district level open problem based on statistical analysis are proposed. Based on the institutional approach, two tasks have been set for the district authorities and the possibility of solving them has been proved.

In recent years, blockchain has emerged as a popular data structure for use in software solutions. However, its meteoric rise has not been without criticism. Blockchain has been the subject of intense discussion in the field of cybersecurity because of its structural characteristics, mainly the permanency and decentralization. However, the blockchain technology in this field has also received intense scrutiny and caused to raise questions, such as, Is the application of blockchain in the field simply a localized trend or a bait for investors, both without a hope for permanent game-changing solutions? and Is blockchain an architecture that will lead to lasting disruptions in cybersecurity? This chapter aims to provide a neutral overview of why blockchain has risen as a popular pivot in cybersecurity, its current applications in this field, and an evaluation of what the future holds for this technology given both its limitations and advantages.

A simple prognostic method was applied to estimate the percentage ratio of the digital economy in Russia’s GDP relying on technology solutions expenditure and sectoral investment. The research indicates a significant impact of Russia’s digital sector on innovation development in B2B, B2G, and B2C segments. The prognostic analysis shows the extension of on-line education, social networking, e-commerce, private and corporate banking, and end-to-end technology solutions in manufacturing. The findings point at the opportunity for the sectoral investment extension and steady annual growth 7-8 % in the next few years. Due to requirements on updating the technological solutions in the related public services, the digital sphere can support the annual growth in the national economy by 1,0-1,2 % until 2024. Respectively the digital economy in Russia will be growing faster the world's average to provide the sector’s contribution of 8,0-8,1 % in GDP by 2024. The findings show the digital platforms are becoming a driver for innovation development integrating the production process, cloud resources, data analysis, and e-learning services. The research contains hints on improving the research efficiency and winning the talent battle that promises to improve the country’s global innovation and economic ranks.

The subject of technological intervention has been largely debated among the world’s greatest minds. Political, theological, psychological, biological and ethical implications have all been argued for and against the ‘technological other’. Does the fact we now CAN perform certain operations and changes to the human body and society at large actually mean we SHOULD? What impact can we foresee with unlimited human intervention in nature ‘as it was intended’? How can we benefit from an era of information flow, where crossing and hybridizing-disciplines, or as I term it “crossbreeding”, become the new breeding ground for innovation? How would Architecture be affected by a future that belongs to organic, non-organic humans and anything in between? This paper will discuss these issues and take a peep into where we might be headed in the near future, so to better understand the challenges that are ahead of us.

The digital economy is creating disruptions in traditional industries and markets. Industrial business associations (IBAs) may face serious challenges in a near future to meet the needs and requirements of their members, particularly in supporting their growing international trade activities and internationalization processes. Digital platforms are already transforming different types of businesses across all markets. An IBA may use a digital platform, not only to keep up with the current technological trends of markets, but also to improve the internationalization support provided to their associate small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, the aim of this chapter is to present the view of these potential digital platforms' managers, by presenting the results of an exploratory field research based on 24 interviews with IBAs from Portugal, France, and the UK. Another goal is to identify current digital platforms that are being used by IBAs and to critically evaluate their potential for supporting internationalization processes of SMEs. By using these findings, a set of requirements and features for digital platforms supporting SME internationalization in the context of IBAs are derived in this chapter. These results can be used by platform designers and by IBAs for designing and developing more effective digital platforms that can meet the specific internationalization needs of their users and managers.
