This study aims at determining styles of leadership in improving the performance of personnel, factors affecting the personnel performance, and inhibitors in improving the performance of personnel. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were done through observation, interview and documentation study. The subjects were principal, vice director, heads of division, and teachers of Dayah. The results showed that: 1) The leadership styles of dayah in improving the performance of personnel was a consultative, participative and instructive leadership style. 2) Factors that affected performance of personnel were the authority and charismatic of the principal in the presence of personnel, and democratic in decision making, and the religious environment, 3) The limiting factors in improving the performance of the personnel were the number of students that exceeds the capacity dormitories which were available, some of the personnel did not have the administration skill background, the minority of personnel who were less active, and were not able to provide financial support for the personnel.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to find out how to improve the performance of Narvifo’s leaders and members and how good leadership and decision making so that the vision and mission can be implemented. The study uses a qualitative approach, with primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques with observation and documentation. Data analysis was performed by examining and studying data so that it was concluded that improving HR performance needs to apply a situational leadership style. Keywords: UKM Narvifo, Leadership, Decision-making ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui bagaimana cara meningkatkan kinerja ketua dan anggota UKM Narvifo Universitas Narotama serta bagaimana kepemimpinan dan pengambilan keputusan yang baik agar visi misi dapat terlaksana. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan data primer dan sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menelaah serta mempelajari data sehingga didapatkan kesimpulan bahwa meningkatkan kinerja SDM perlu menerapkan gaya kepemimpinan situasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang tipe kepemimpinan KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori dalam memimpin Pesantren. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif pendekatan kualitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh dari berbagai sumber primer dan sekunder dengan menggunakan tekhnik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, dan wawancara. Berdasarkan penelitian di lapangan dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut: Pertama, pengambilan keputusan KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori dilakukan dengan proses musyawarah; Kedua, komunikasi Kyai Sadad dilakukan antara atasan dan bawahan, begitupun bawahan terhadap atasan dibangun komunikasi; Ketiga, pengawasan Kyai Sadad MB. Bukhori dilakukan secara langsung terhadap bawahannya, pengawasan yang dilakukan untuk mendapatkan solusi. Secara umum penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa Keberhasilan yang dicapai dari kepemimpinan Kyai Sadad MB. Bukhori secara signifikan meningkat dan tipe kepemimpin beliau dikategorikan sebagai kepemimpinan demokratis. This study aims to obtain objective information about the leadership type of KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori at Islamic Boarding School. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data obtained from primary sources is taken from research results and secondary data from books and documents. While the technique of data collection is by observing and interviewing. The results showed that: First, decision making KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori is carried out by a process that is not unilateral but is carried out through a deliberation process; Second, communication KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori is carried out by a process whereby members communicate with superiors to subordinates as well as subordinates to superiors so as to cause beneficial reciprocity between the two parties; Third, the supervision of KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori is carried out by direct process of subordinates, supervision is not to find fault but rather to find solutions. In general, this study concluded that the success achieved from the leadership of KH. R. Sadad MB. Bukhori significantly increased, which can be seen from the education system implemented by pesantren and from the development of improved facilities.

The purpose of this study was to discuss the influence of the leadership style of Madrasah heads and work motivation on the work discipline of Madrasah Aliyah teachers in the North Polongbangkeng District of Takalar District. This study aims to determine the effect of Madrasah head leadership and work motivation on the work discipline of Madrasah teachers. This study uses a type of descriptive and inferential quantitative research. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, questionnaire and documentation. The population in this study were 101 teachers, with a total sample of 30 teachers from 101 teachers of Madrasah Aliyah Manongkoki, Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Palleko, Madrasah Aliyah Tarbiyah Islamic Boarding School and Assalam Islamic Boarding School Madrasa in Polongbangkeng District North Takalar District. Based on the results of this study, it is known that the style of Madrasah head leadership has a significant effect on the work discipline of Madrasah Aliyah teachers in Polongbangkeng District. This means that leadership styles must be effective in order to influence the work discipline of teachers. Work motivation towards work discipline of Madrasah Aliyah teachers in Polongbangkeng Subdistrict, if the discipline wants to be improved, the motivation of the teacher's work must also be increased. Together, leadership style and work motivation have a significant effect on the work discipline of Madrasah Aliyah in Polongbangkeng District.

This paper aims to explore an Intensive Course Program in Arabic learning at one of the Islamic Boarding schools for girls in Indonesia. it is expected that Students in this Intensive Course understand two skills in Arabic, namely speaking and reading skills. Also, it aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Intensive Course Program. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach with three data collection techniques; observation, interviews, and documentation. It used Miles and Huberman’s technique in analyzing the data. This study showed that: 1) Implementation of Intensive Course Program in Arabic learning at the one of Islamic Boarding Schools for girls in Indonesia aimed to improve language skill including reading and deductive skill including speaking. 2) Pertinent to the strengths and weaknesses of the Intensive Course, the learning system is advantagous to enhance other specific skills, ranging from students’ proficiencies in reading and speaking in Arabic. However, there are also drawbacks. For example, an excellent Arabic environment has not been created due to the lack of students’ awareness of making them accustomed to speaking Arabic.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to fill the gap by investigating the relationship between age and other demographics on decision-making and leadership styles of executives in the non-profit sector. Design/methodology/approach This study is a quantitative research using correlation analysis and analysis of variance. The quantitative approach establishes facts, makes predictions and tests stated hypothesis and used the Pearson correlation coefficient, the ANOVA and the two-way analysis of variance. This study used surveys to collect data. Findings H1 states that there will be no significant difference in the decision-making models used among non-profit organizational leaders (rational, intuitive, dependent, spontaneous and avoidant) based on demographic variables: gender and age. H2 states that there will be no significant difference in the leadership style used among non-profit organizational executives (selling, telling, delegating and participating) and different dimensions of demographic variables: gender and age. Research limitations/implications This study explored the relationship between the demographics, age and gender and the decision-making models (rational, intuitive, dependent, spontaneous and avoidant) and leadership styles (selling, telling, delegating and participating) of executives in non-profit organizations. The age of the executives also showed to be important factors that influenced executive’s leadership styles and decision-making models as well. Practical implications Rational decision-making as reflected to in this study has been used by older, possibly more experienced non-profit executives. This model is favorable towards making decisions on complicated issues. The final choice rational decision-makers select will maximize the outcome; it is assumed that the decision-maker will choose the alternative that rates the highest and get the maximum benefits (Robbins and Decenzo, 2003, pp. 141-142). The researcher suggests that non-profit executives, especially the younger executives, should attend management and leadership conferences that focus on rational decision-making models as concerns business strategies and making the best choices based on possible alternatives. Social implications Rational decision-making as reflected to in this study has been used by older, possibly more experienced non-profit executives. This model is favorable towards making decisions on complicated issues. This chapter uses a leadership typology to review categories of traditional and emerging leadership theories and styles. Those theories and styles that have particular application or extensive research in the areas of education, change, problem solving, decision making, and organizational culture are emphasized. Strategies for increasing leader self-awareness, matching leadership styles and organizational needs, and improving problem solving and decision making are provided. The aim of this chapter is to give a clear and comprehensive overview of the array of leadership styles and theories grounded in research. The intent is to help practitioners working in education be more effective leaders by providing a comprehensive theory base to guide their actions, and to help them utilize the leadership style(s) most appropriate for their organization.

The purpose of this study is to identify how accounting and finance professionals perceive the leadership styles adopted by their male and female leaders. In order to analyze the hypothesis that there are differences in leadership styles between men and women, a bibliographical review of leadership style and contingency theories was carried out. For the data collection, an electronic survey was carried out, using an adapted version of the EAEG (Escala de Avaliação do Estilo Gerencial) scale proposed by Melo (2004), totaling 278 valid responses. Although the general hypothesis has been rejected, the results indicate that women still face differences in their chances of assuming leadership positions.

The purpose of this research is to get an idea of how the circumstances of students at Ma'had, then menggarambarkan how process guidance conducted Court in boarding school and described the outcome of the guidance is done justice program that on its own. The research was conducted using qualitative approach method of descriptive studies. As for the data collection technique does is observation, interviews, documentation and cross check see directly when religious guidance takes place at the Office of the Court. The results of this research are the students break the rules Ma'had gets special treatment i.e. the form of religious guidance conducted by the Court, then the results from doing religious guidance through the program the Court pointed out that the students got religious guidance over the violations that he did, and the results are good, but the results of this study stated santri diversity results from the guidance include: students are wary after gaining guidance. Students who keep breaking and not feel the santri deterrent and deterrent but still sometimes breached.   Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan gambaran bagaimana keadaan santri di Ma’had, kemudian menggarambarkan bagaimana proses bimbingan yang dilakukan mahkamah di Pesantren dan menggambarkan hasil dari bimbingan yang dilakukan program mahkamah itu sendiri. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif metode studi deskriptif. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi dan cross check melihat secara langsung ketika bimbingan keagamaan berlangsung di kantor mahkamah. Hasil penelitian ini adalah santri yang melanggar aturan Ma’had mendapat perlakuan khusus yakni berupa bimbingan keagamaan yang dilakukan oleh mahkamah, kemudian hasil dari melakukan bimbingan keagamaan melalui program mahkamah menunjukkan bahwa santri yang mendapat bimbingan keagamaan atas pelanggaran yang dilakukannya beragam dan hasilnya baik, namun hasil dari penelitian ini menyatakan keberagaman santri dari hasil bimbingan tersebut diantaranya: santri yang jera setelah mendapat bimbingan. Santri yang tetap melanggar dan tidak merasa jera dan santri yang jera namun masih terkadang melanggar.

This research aims to know the influence of organizational structure, leadership style,management control systems, and organizational culture toward behaviour decision making.Data collection methods used in this research is a method of questionnaire. The results of thisstudy suggest that the organizational structure of partially against the influential behavioraldecision making, leadership styles partially against the influential behavioral decisionmaking, not management control systems influential partially against the behavior ofdecision-making, and organizational culture has no effect partially against the decisionmaking behavior. Research results also showed a simultaneous influence organizationalstructure, leadership style, management control systems, and organizational culture towardsdecision-making behavior and note that the value of the coefficient of determination60.3%, while the remaining 39.7% is explained by other factors that are not described in thismodel.

The objective of the study was to analyze the role of islamic boarding school in preventing radicalism in Rejang Lebong regency. The study used qualitative approach with descriptive method. The data collection was done though interview, documentation and observation. The result showed that in playing the role, islamic boarding school recently became the target of people's distrust: this was the place of radicalism and terrorism. According to the analysis, there was no school found as the place of radicalism and terrorism. Some schools even actively prevent radicalism and terrorism effectively. In conclusion, the role of islamic boarding schools in Rejang Lebong to prevent radicalism and terrorism through the tight control was effective.
