This is a descriptive qualitative research that explores about non-person deixis words in surah Al-Baqarah translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, which concern in context reference meaning of pragmatics analysis. The data of this research was taken from 222 verses that consist of non-person deixis. The technique of collecting data is document analysis that uses pragmatics analysis approach. The technique of analyzing data is by managing, reading the script, classifying the data, describing, and interpreting. Then checklist for instrument was built of Levinsons theory. The result of this research presents that 1) there are four types of non-person deixis used in surah Al-Baqarah translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali namely place deixis, time deixis, social deixis, and discourse deixis. 2) There are 452 references of non-person deixis used in surah Al-Baqarah translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali (the detail in chapter IV of this research). 3) There are context reference meaning in every deictic word in surah Al-Baqarah translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali that analyzed. So that the readers should have deep understanding about the representation of pragmatics especially the non-person deixis to analyze the context reference meaning in Al-Quran English translation.Keywords: Pragmatics, Deixis, Al-Quran English Translation

The development of music, film, and other industry of entertainment is stated to contribute to the existence of slang words. There are so many slang words that become popular after they are included in the lyrics of songs. One of them is YOLO (You Only Live Once) which is popularized by Drake. In relation to that, this descriptive qualitative research attempts to find out the types and word formation processes of slang words found in the lyrics of Drake’s songs. By taking the model of document analysis by Bowen (2009) and Qualitative data analysis by Miles and Hubberman (1994), it is found out that there are 190 slang words existing in the lyrics of Drake’s songs. They are respectively categorized into Clipping type (62 slangs), Fresh and Creative type (44 slangs), Compounding type (44 slangs), Imitative type (36 slangs), and Acronym type (4 slangs).

Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) is a study of language which views language as two characteristics, systemic and functional. With using SFL, the researchers try to analyze the tale’s story of Sabai Nan Aluih. The research aim is to identify the interpersonal meaning realized in that story and to reveal the speech function of language use in that story. The research design of this analysis is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is the interpersonal meaning analysis of clauses as exchange in the tale of Sabai Nan Aluih. The data of this research is the clauses as exchange in the story of Sabai Nan Aluih. The source of data which is used in this research is the documentation of the data research paper. The researchers use document analysis from the story of Sabai Nan Aluih as collecting data. The data is analyzed by using description method. In the interpersonal analysis, declarative mood dominates almost the story, it is about 91 %. And, the data analysis of speech function is found in the story of Sabai Nan Aluih, statement, question and command, in where statement is domination from the story about 94%. The purpose of this study is to find out the types of deixis and the most dominant deixis that appeared in the Avengers Infinity War Movie. This study applied descriptive qualitative research. For collecting data, the researcher used non-participatory technique and observational method. The data in this study applied the theory from Levinson. The utterances of the speaker is used as the data in this study. The researcher found 168 data of deixis. The data were analyzed into person, temporal, place, discourse, and social deixis. The result showed that there are 87 person deixis, 31 temporal deixis, 14 place deixis, 21 discourse deixis, and 15 social deixis. The objectives of this research are to find the types and the most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this study are the words, clauses, and sentences in the subtitle movie both English and Indonesian. Data source is taken from “English Vinglish” Movie. The data collection procedure in this research is document analysis. From the result, it shows that the translation procedures used in subtitle English Vinglish movie consist of direct translation and oblique translation. In direct translation, it consists of literal translation as 148 data or 34.89%, borrowing as 82 data or 20.39 %, and calque as 0 data or 0 %. While, in oblique translation consist of transposition as 76 data or 18.67 %, equivalence as 62 data or 15.23 %, modulation as 32 data or 7.86 %, and adaptation as 6 data or 1.47 %. The most dominant type of translation procedures of English into Indonesian Subtitle in “English Vinglish” Movie is in direct translation, especially in literal translation. Lexicology has a very important role in the study of spells, especially in the study of meaning (style). This paper focuses on: 1) the vocabulary used in the spell how to Cara Menanam Tembuni and translation; 2) mantra studies how to Cara Menanam Tembuni by examining meaning in language style. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research methods of text analysis. The data obtained are examined using descriptive analysis approach. From the results of a study on how to plant the placenta spells found: 1) the vocabulary used in the spell of how to grow the afterbirth is the Java Language Ngoko-Chromo among: meneng, jabang bayi, siro, beko, marang, bopo, biyung, sedulur, inggih; 2) spells by planting the placenta contained a tautolog-style parallelism assertion language (meneng-meneng, sugih-sugih, wani-wani, siro-siro, sedulur-sedulur, inggih inggih inggih; alliteration (meneng-meneng, wani-wani, sedulur-sedulur); and inversion (meneng-meneng jabang bayi siro).Keywords: Lexicology Literature, Mantra, Vocabulary, Meaning

The purpose of this study is to find the type of predicting and the quality of translation on the acceptability aspect. This research can be classified as a descriptive qualitative research with an embeded study and translation of product-oriented. The source of the data in this study is novel in English, entitled Deception Point and its translation in Bahasa. The data were collected through document analysis, questionnaire and focus group discussion. The data was sentence that contains predicting utterances. From the data collected in the novel Deception Point, there were 87 data. Type of predictive modality with acceptable were 97.06% (81 data) and less acceptable translation were 2.94% (6 data). Then, on the type of hypothetical prediction were  66.67% with acceptable translation and 33.33% with less acceptable, then 100% were type of habitual prediction with an acceptable translation.

religious lecture is the effective means of propaganda for direct interacting to the worshipers. Unfortunately, there are some lecturers who do not pay attention to the politeness principle in the preaching. One lecturer who often causes controversy is GN. GN lectures on several occasions, such as lectures in churches, sparked debate and a negative response from the other speaker. This research is to reveal the forms of principle courtesy violation in discourse. This research used descriptive qualitative research with discourse analysis approach. The analysis showed the forms of the offense of direct criticism (menohok hearer) with a word or phrase that is abusive, speech-driven sense of emotion, intent cornered hearer, the charges on the basis of suspicion, protective of opinions, attack the personal aspect, and the spread of hatred. The forms of violations that included part of the Approbation Maxim. It can be concluded that the conflict (linguistic and social) can be triggered by a lecture, disregarding the principle of modesty. Linguistic conflict, like debate between lecturers, would arise not because of the debate the substance of propaganda, but the attack triggered a personal aspect and spreading hatred. Conflicts are likely to occur when the violation of the principle of courtesy is still ongoing. The negative impact of the conflict would be stronger if it involves an object or group of people with different religious and ethnic.

This study aims to see which types of reiteration are commonly occurred in the storybook entitled ''The Thing in the Dungeon'' by Emma Lay bourn. This study used descriptive qualitative research and used document analysis as a research instrument. The storybook is a book containing stories for children. The authors chose the storybook as research material because it has its structure that is intended specifically for children, and has a high number of viewers and ratings. The objectives of the research are to analyze the types of reiteration that mostly used in that storybook. From this research, the data presented sequentially 115 (93.4%) for repetition, 7 (5, 6) % for a synonym, and 1 (1%) for antonym. The writers didn’t found types of reiteration superordination which cover hyponym and metonym. After conducting research the researchers concluded that repetition is the most types of reiteration that are used in the storybook because they attract special attention to a certain message. The aim of this research is to identify the pattern of fraud in the management of functional literacy program. This is a descriptive qualitative research. This research employed primary data with interview, institutional document analysis, and observation as the method of data collection. The findings of this research suggest that there are some fraud patterns found in the management of functional literacy program i.e. (1) the proposal creation as an administrative formality (2) the reduction of the learning duration (3) the reduction of the tutor’s transportation fees (4) the reduction of the stationery procurement budget.

Lesson plan is one of the pivotal parts in learning process since it provides the instructions in the classroom. This study deals with the investigation of the aspects of pre-service teachers’ lesson plans based on 2013 Curriculum. It used descriptive qualitative research. As many as ten lesson plans by five pre-service teachers were analysed using document analysis based on theory of Brown (2001) namely goals, objectives, materials and equipment, procedures and evaluation to collect data. The result shows that they are good in creating goals, material and equipment and procedure, but they should improve their ability in creating objectives and evaluation. In short, they are able to design English lesson plans based on its characteristics of 2013 curriculum
