Why do many resource-rich countries maintain autocratic political regimes? The authors’ proposed answer focuses on the causal effect of labor imports, or immigration. Using the logic offered by Acemoglu and Robinson’s democratization model, the authors posit that immigration makes democratization less likely because it facilitates redistributive concessions to appease the population within an autocratic regime. This immigration argument applies directly to the political resource curse since many resource-rich countries tend to also be labor scarce, leading them to import foreign laborers. Consistent with this understanding, the authors find a statistically significant negative relationship between net immigration per capita and democratization in future periods. Their results also show that when controlling for this immigration effect, the standard resource curse variables lose significance in a democratization model. This latter result suggests that much of the so-called resource curse stems not from resource endowments per se but rather from the labor imports related to resource production.

that it is able to provide accurate results about the temperature picture. The purpose of this study was to examine if there were differences in anxiety conditions at facial temperatures measured using thermal imaging. Methodology: Eighty-one participants were taking the pre-clinical exams was chosen as the inclusion criteria and were divided into four categories of anxiety range (not anxious, mild anxiety, moderate anxiety, and severe anxiety) based on their score measured that using the General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) as the instrument. The participants were measured their face temperature using thermal imaging on the upper forehead (frontal) and left-right forehead (temporal). Data was analyzed to show the characteristic of anxiety level on the frontal and temporal temperature. There were difference anxiety conditions (no anxious, mildly anxious, moderate anxious and severe anxious) to thermal imaging face temperatures in the frontal and temporal. Main findings: The results showed that more increased the temporal and frontal of face temperature, more severe the anxiety. There is a significant negative relationship between face temperature and anxiety level (p <0.05). Implications: These findings showed that anxiety can be fast screening with a thermal imaging image. Further research is needed to determine the specificity and sensitivity of thermal imaging as an anxiety detection tool with a short time and without invasive action as one of the technological advances. Novelty: There are no studies that discussed the correlation between anxiety with face temperature using thermal imaging.

Families whose parents are both working have limited time in nurturing their children. This circumstance makes parents, especially mothers, alternate parenting to the babysitter or caring institution called daycare. This study aimed to analyze the correlation of children's characteristics, caregiver-child interaction, and attachment with the cognitive development of preschool children in daycare. This study used a cross-sectional study design with the daycare (TPA) selection as the research location carried out purposively located in the buffer areas of the capital city of DKI Jakarta. Respondents in this study were 39 children aged 2.5-6.4 years with complete parents and 16 caregivers from four selected TPA who interacted with their children daily. Data was collected by means of in-depth observations to measure the interaction variables between caregivers and children. This study indicates a positive correlation between caregiver-child interaction and attachment with a child's cognitive development. This study also found a significant positive relationship between the caregivers-child interaction with caregivers-child attachments and a significant negative relationship between the child's age and the caregivers-child attachment. This shows that interaction, and attachment between caregivers and children are important factors that can improve cognitive development while in TPA.

This study focused on providing a descriptive analysis of patterns of family interaction among bilingual, bicultural Mexican Americans, as provided by the disabled family member. Through a six month follow-up of subjects the study explored the predictive relationship between scores on the Family Environment Scale (FES), and a criterion variable: counselor 6 month rating of progress toward vocational potential. Results were compared with those provided in the original normative study by Moos and Moos (1981), showing statistically significant mean differences (p.05) on 9 of the 10 FES subscales. Correlational analyses also indicated a significant relationship between 6 month rating of progress toward vocational potential and Expressiveness (r=.38, p =.01).

Background: The relationship between population and economic growth has always been a subject of debate. There has never been any clear consensus amongst economists about the nature and extent of influence that population has on the economic growth of a country. Objective: This paper aims to explore the influence exerted by the age structure of the population on the economic growth of a country. Method: The paper uses secondary data to find the relation between Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita levels of countries and their respective Age Dependency Ratio.Result: There is a significant negative relationship between them, which implies that, if a country has a rise in a high proportion of the dependent population, per capita income will tend to be lower. Conclusion: The paper then makes a special study of the prospect of demographic dividend in India. The country is in the third phase of demographic transition, implying that the proportion of the working-age population is greater than the dependent population. This provides an ideal condition for the Government to reap the benefits of demographic dividend and achieve higher levels of economic growth.
