According to the container recycling institute, nearly a million plastic beverage bottles are sold every minute around the world. Plastic bottles are considered as an urban junk, however, it has shape characteristics which make them usable in construction in lieu of conventional bricks. This research promotes the use of recycled plastic bottles as eco-bricks by substituting it with the typical construction bricks. It evaluates the thermal performance of sand filled plastic bottle-walls in a comparative analysis with traditional composite brick walls.  The thermal performance of the plastic bottle walls was evaluated through COMSOL® Multi-physics and the results are noted.

A comparative study of the mythological picture of the world, early forms of religion allows us to identify common features characteristic of the worldview and spiritual guidelines of mankind as a whole. These features can be traced in archaic ideas about the structure of the universe, in understanding their spiritual and bodily essence, the infinity of God and the eternity of the soul, the relationship and interdependence of life forms in the world. This allows us to assert the thesis of the unity of mankind in its spiritual origins, despite racial and ethnic diversity. In the process of a comparative analysis of mythology, early forms of religion, the concept of God, the pantheon and the function of the gods, similar moments and ethnological specifics of understanding the essence of the soul and reincarnation in totemistic beliefs, in cosmological and theogonistic concepts are revealed. The author also analyzes the role and significance of the cult of ancestors, traces the evolution of the idea of proto-monotism (the creative function of Tengri and Brahma, the intention of henotheistic faith) and its place in religious knowledge.

Chinese postgraduate professional degree education has undergone 26 years of development, and has achieved a great progress. But compared with the developed nations in the world, China is still in its infantry stage, and needs to learn from the western developed countries’ experiences in this field. This paper makes a comparative analysis of the differences between China and UK in postgraduate professional degree education. It finds that there are significant differences between the two countries in the aspects of programme setting, schooling duration, admissions, curriculum design, teaching delivery, quality control system, etc. The findings imply that China should try to give more authority to universities in programme setting and admissions, and Chinese universities should innovate ways of teaching delivery and systems of quality control.

The dynamic nature of the construction industry makes it almost impossible to maintain a project without any disputes. Of all the addressed disputes in the construction industry, payment disputes are seen to be the most critical issue to be apprehended; as there is no doubt that consistent cashflow is important to distinguish the project’s development and achievements. Adjudication is one of the remedies to assist in arresting these problems, and the way to make an impact to the implementation of adjudication is by having it an enforceable statute. Along the years, fourteen adjudication Acts have been introduced within the Commonwealth countries. As the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 is a hybrid of few adjudication systems in the world, a comparative study on three adjudication Acts: the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 of the UK – the first statutory adjudication implemented, Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 of Australia – consists of a unique set of judicial systems that needs to be considered separately and Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 2004 of Singapore – one of the latest implemented statutory adjudication before CIPAA; were looked into, and possible matters affecting their effective implementation were emphasized. This review aims to assist in identifying the possible issues that might be faced by the Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA) as a newly legislated Act in Malaysia and possible corrective measures that could be undertaken to enhance its effectiveness.
