This article discusses how to design the passing grade of field competency selection (SKB)   for the needs of the recruitment process for prospective Government Employees with a Work Agreement (PPPK) who will fill the formation of Functional Positions at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). The absence of government guidelines in designing the passing grade value for PPPK candidates triggers Ministries/Institution to design the passing grade value SKB as a necessity in the recruitment process. Research through empirical studies designed the passing grade value SKB for the KKP Functional Position using the Ebel method approach, the Trial Method, and the Judgment Method. The results of the study reveal that the technique of designing the the passing grade value SKB is very dependent on the technical policy of preparing questions so that it is easier, more precise in considering the standard setting method approach or determining the method approach to designing the passing grade value SKB.The  passing grade value SKB for the Functional Position of the KKP Guiding Agency based on the three methods obtained results that have close values or differences that are not too significant. The range of values between the interval 45 – 55 absolute numbers. This data indicates that between the technical policy of problem formulation and determining the Ebel method as an approach to the standard setting method in designing the passing grade  value is correct and inline.  Keywords: PPPK, Passing Grade  Value, Methods Approach

It has been estimated that graphology is used by over 80% of European companies as part of their personnel recruitment process. And yet, after over three decades of research into the validity of graphology as a means of assessing personality, we are left with a legacy of equivocal results. For every experiment that has provided evidence to show that graphologists are able to identify personality traits from features of handwriting, there are just as many to show that, under rigorously controlled conditions, graphologists perform no better than chance expectations. In light of this confusion, this paper takes a different approach to the subject by focusing on the rationale and modus operandi of graphology. When we take a closer look at the academic literature, we note that there is no discussion of the actual rules by which graphologists make their assessments of personality from handwriting samples. Examination of these rules reveals a practice founded upon analogy, symbolism, and metaphor in the absence of empirical studies that have established the associations between particular features of handwriting and personality traits proposed by graphologists. These rules guide both popular graphology and that practiced by professional graphologists in personnel selection.

Abstract Although empirical studies show that suppliers’ innovativeness enhances original equipment manufacturers’ (OEM) total innovation performance, some evidence reveals that suppliers’ innovation affects OEM in quantitatively and qualitatively limited ways. This study aims to explore innovation systems of European automobile producers, i.e., OEM. Technological innovation systems (TIS) remain relatively underexplored, but the approach is especially valuable for explaining why and how sustainable and circular innovation develop and spread. We applied a mixed-method approach and conducted patent analyses and interviews with 20 respondents from Slovenia, Austria, and Hungary, which are representatives of suppliers for the automotive industry and automotive clusters. We confirm that the European OEMs build innovation ecosystems that are more closed than their Asian counterparts. Furthermore, we define three paths of how inventions of suppliers can reach the OEMs, with developmental suppliers (large companies) having the highest probability of influencing the innovation activity of OEMs. The entry of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and start-ups with their inventions is difficult. However, it is not impossible, especially if they develop new solutions connected to current disruptive trends in the automotive industry: electric cars, autonomous driving and digitalisation.

Empirical studies of revision are often based on either think aloud protocols, interviews, or observational methods. Eye tracking and keylogging methods are rarely applied to the study of revision behavior. The authors employ established methods from translation process research (TPR) to study the eye movement and typing behavior during self-revision (i.e., the phase in the translation process that follows a first complete draft). The authors measure the effect of behavior during the drafting phase on the relative revision duration. Relative revision duration is the time translators spend revising the first complete draft of the source text. They find that the most efficient process involves a large degree of concurrent reading and writing and few deletions during the drafting phase. The efficiency gains in terms of relative revision duration achieved by avoiding discontinuous typing, by making a larger number of deletions, pausing for longer amounts of time, and engaging in less concurrent reading and writing are outweighed by the gains in total task time by doing the exact opposite.

This research aims to explore the issues of volunteer engagement faced by the SabangMerauke Community that affect the level of voluntary self-belonging to the community. This research is a type of descriptive research with a descriptive research method approach. Determination of research subjects using purposive sampling techniques. Based on this technique, the subjects of this study were all administrators and volunteers of the SabangMerauke Community and the participants involved such as the SabangMerauke Brother, Sister and Family. Data collection techniques used were interviews and questionnaires online. Interventions given to the SabangMerauke community are interventions in the process of recruiting volunteers using competency-based interview techniques. The conclusion from the series of interventions provided is that the provision of training for trainers to the SabangMerauke Community is appropriate and targets what they need. This is based on the group's assessment of the success indicator checklist that was designed before the training for trainers took place. Apart from the indicators of success, there is concrete evidence that shows the success of this intervention, namely the response and activeness of the two respondents present. Besides listening, they also asked a number of questions and actively confirmed their knowledge to the group by discussion. The community also asked the group to be able to follow up the community recruitment process the following year. Although in terms of interventions classified as successful, but there are some obstacles experienced by groups such as interventions that can only be done once because it follows the schedule of the community administrator.ABSTRAK:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali permasalahan volunteer engagement yang dihadapi Komunitas SabangMerauke yang mempengaruhi tingkat self-belonging relawan terhadap komunitas.

Lack of objectivity in the recruitment process can undermine the durability, trust and ease of doing business with the Nigerian public sector. This article reviews the literature and training related to the recruitment process and performance, especially in the public sector. While empirical studies have shown that the proper training process can lead to the employment of skilled employees and increase the performance of employees and the organization. We see that there are few empirical studies on this subject in the Nigerian public sector. The authors recommend that politicians, business leaders, religious elites and other elites should allow departments and organizations to carry out recruitment responsibilities without internal or external interference, with an emphasis on training leaders.

Dual-process models are increasingly popular in sociology as a framework for theorizing the role of automatic cognition in shaping social behavior. However, empirical studies using dual-process models often rely on ad hoc measures such as forced-choice surveys, observation, and interviews whose relationships to underlying cognitive processes are not fully established. In this article, we advance dual-process research in sociology by (1) proposing criteria for measuring automatic cognition, and (2) assessing the empirical performance of two popular measures of automatic cognition developed by psychologists. We compare the ability of the Brief Implicit Association Test (BIAT), the Affect Misattribution Procedure (AMP), and traditional forced-choice measures to predict process-pure estimates of automatic influences on individuals’ behavior during a survey task. Results from three studies focusing on politics, morality, and racial attitudes suggest the AMP provides the most valid and consistent measure of automatic cognitive processes. We conclude by discussing the implications of our findings for sociological practice.

This article presents the basics of mixed-method research as a distinct methodology that uses both quantitative and qualitative research methods to create empirical research. The method of this study is a review. Through a substantive review, this paper explains the basic idea of a mixed method approach. The article identifies the main components of the mixed-method approach, provides examples, and describes how to conduct mixed-method research. A quantitative study involves collecting, identifying, and analyzing data. A qualitative study uses interviews or focus groups. An integration of both approaches helps a better understanding of the issue. This study brings out the role of mixed-method research to assess further approaches in future research practices. The combination of qualitative and quantitative research will enable a broader reach in empirical studies.

One of the challenging thing for a job seeker during job interview is the lack of ability in answering the interview questions in English. This is caused not only because the poor English competence but also the poor knwolegde of the common job interview questions during recruitment process. The problem identified in this Community Service Program is the insufficient fund for training program of Balikpapan government, compare to the numbers of the job seeker. Therefore, cooperation with other party such as University to support any types of training program become one of the program that should always be conducted. The next problem identified is related to the lack of coomunication skills among job seeker in Balikpapan which in turn limit their opportunity in securing job especially during interview process that is conducted in English. The problem solving method is conducted in four stages, first is preparation, problem formulation, the training implementation and program evaluation. The result shows that the job seekers feel more confident in facing job interview in English after joining the program, they also expect that the similar program shall be conducted again with a longer duration.

AbstractDrawing upon neo-institutional theory as the perspective for research on corporate governance, we present the results of empirical studies on compliance with best practice codes. We view the declarations of conformity as the organizational response to institutional pressure and address questions on (1) how companies respond to recommendations on board best practice and (2) how these reactions evolve over time. The study employs the mixed method approach and is based on a time-series sample of conformity declarations published by 126 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange during the period 2006–2019. Descriptive statistics indicate an increase in the number of complying companies, an improvement in compliance quality and the growing length of conformity declarations. In the content analysis we identify two main reaction strategies (acceptance and rejection) with seven selected responses. We discuss the contribution to the existing literature on reactions to new practices in corporate governance.
