Abstract The goal to be achieved in writing Interactive Media and Learning paper is to make interactive learning design of human emotions and stages of human cognitive development based on a theory by Jean Piaget. This was motivated by the repetition of the same material by lecturers to more than 40 students. The university is the highest peak in the formal education level applied in Indonesia, which is taken for 3.5 - 4 years. Students' diverse backgrounds and cognitive skills make them have to keep trying to absorb the content from the lectures. Multimedia Interactive is a media that consists of many components or media that are connected to each other and are able to interact. Teaching media in the form of interactive multimedia has the ability to store audio-visual data, making interactive multimedia especially interactive learning as a supporter of conventional learning methods that were delivered through books and direct explanations without examples are considered to be less easily digested by students, so it is hoped that the use of interactive power point media aims to increase the absorption of material by students who are able to provide information more interesting and enjoyable than just listening to the one-time delivery of material by supporting lecturers.  Keywords: Emotion, Cognitive Development Stage, Higher Education, Interactive Learning

Children with special educational needs (SEN) achieve lower educational levels than their peers without special needs, leading to a higher risk of social exclusion in the future. Inclusive education aims to promote learning and to benefit the cognitive development of these students, and numerous research studies have indicated that interactive environments benefit inclusion. However, it is necessary to know how these inclusive environments can positively impact the academic improvement and development of these students' cognitive skills. This article provides a review of the scientific literature from Web of Science, SCOPUS, ERIC, and PsychINFO to understand the impact of interactive environments on the academic learning and cognitive skill development of children with SEN. A total of 17 studies were selected. Those studies showed the effectiveness of interactive learning environments in promoting instrumental learning, increasing academic involvement, and improving the cognitive development of children with disabilities. Based on these results, it can be concluded that interaction-based interventions with an inclusive approach nurture the learning and cognitive development of students with SEN.

For over twenty years, the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Engineering has been running outreach programming directed at elementary youth (ages 6 to 14) through its Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) summer camp program. All the activities are designed to be hands-on with the primary goal to increase participant’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The camp develops themes, such as ‘Outer Space’ to help motivate activity development and provide practical examples to participants. In 2010, the directors of ESQ modified the approach to develop camp outreach activities to ensure they were hands-on engaging activities related to science and engineering but also paid consideration to ensuring a secondary set of goals were met that considered the cognitive development of the children in the camp. The result was the development of hands-on outreach activities that engaged the participants in multiple ways. The motivation behind the development of outreach activities with these secondary objectives in mind were based on observation of past successes and working knowledge of the target audience. It is concluded that in order to make truly engaging and effective programming for elementary aged youth; activity developers should develop hands-on activities that incorporate both the interests of youth and their appropriate cognitive development stage. Using these methods in activity development will lead to an increase in success and a stronger impact of the programming.

In the public space of the theoretical renewed discourses, the geographic knowledge expands itself from the university world for the school world, with criticism as a key word of the teacher education. Thus, the objective of this paper is to discuss the challenges of teacher education, particularly the one of the teacher of Geography, based on the concepts of communicative competence and universal ethical principles, from the theory of communicative action of Jürgen Habermas. It started from our experience as a professor in Geography College, when questioning the reason for the low participation of undergraduates in establishing a dialogue or an argumentative discourse in the classroom. From the literature review, we identified the current predominant themes in geographic education on the education of teachers in Geography. It was observed the domain of the themes: researcher teacher and citizenship. In the last decade and a half, thin film research, particularly research into problems associated with epitaxy, has developed from a simple empirical process of determining the conditions for epitaxy into a complex analytical and experimental study of the nucleation and growth process on the one hand and a technology of very great importance on the other. During this period the thin films group of the University of Chile has studied the epitaxy of metals on metal and insulating substrates. The development of the group, one of the first research groups in physics to be established in the country, has parallelled the increasing complexity of the field. The elaborate techniques and equipment now needed for research into thin films may be illustrated by considering the plant and facilities of this group as characteristic of a good system for the controlled deposition and study of thin films.

Cecil Cameron Ewing (1925-2006) was a lecturer and head of ophthalmology at the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout his Canadian career, he was an active researcher who published several articles on retinoschisis and was the editor of the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology. For his contributions to Canadian ophthalmology, the Canadian Ophthalmological Society awarded Ewing a silver medal. Throughout his celebrated medical career, Ewing maintained his passion for music. His love for music led him to be an active member in choir, orchestra, opera and chamber music in which he sang and played the piano, violin and viola. He was also the director of the American Liszt Society and a member for over 40 years. The connection between music and ophthalmology exists as early as the 18th Century. John Taylor (1703-1772) was an English surgeon who specialized in eye diseases. On the one hand, Taylor was a scientist who contributed to ophthalmology by publishing books on ocular physiology and diseases, and by advancing theories of strabismus. On the other hand, Taylor was a charlatan who traveled throughout Europe and blinded many patients with his surgeries. Taylor’s connection to music was through his surgeries on two of the most famous Baroque composers: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) and George Frederick Handel (1685-1759). Bach had a painful eye disorder and after two surgeries by Taylor, Bach was blind. Handel had poor or absent vision prior to Taylor’s surgery, and his vision did not improve after surgery. The connection between ophthalmology and music spans over three centuries from the surgeries of Taylor to the musical passion of Ewing. Ewing E. Cecil Cameron Ewing. BMJ 2006; 332(7552):1278.
