Without having a reaction time, the pandemic has caused an unprecedented transformation in universities around the world, leading to a revolution from structured models anchored in the conception of transmission of training towards a teaching approach-learning saved thanks to the incorporation of technology. This study aims to verify whether the pandemic situation has influenced the digital competence self-perception of students. Comparing two groups during the academic years 2019/2020 and 2020/2021, the instrument used is the questionnaire for digital competence “DigCompEdu Check-In” for future teachers. After the educational intervention, group A (before COVID-19) presented higher self-perceptions of competence than group B (during COVID-19); the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19 has negatively influenced students’ self-perception of their digital skills in the pretest in the different dimensions under study. Before receiving the training, the group that did not experience the pandemic enjoyed a higher self-perception of their competencies than the group that experienced the pandemic. The data obtained indicate that the difference exists, and that it is statistically significant, and may be a consequence of the clear relationship between self-perception and the way in which students face reality through their personal and subjective vision.

Various risk factors including blood iron may create coronary artery diseases and lead to myocardial infarction. There are controversies with regard to the impact of blood iron on myocardial infarction. Therefore, the aim of this paper was to investigate the relationship between iron reserves and the intensity of coronary artery stenos is among angiographic candidates in Zanjan, Iran. This was a cross sectional study. Samples were consisted of patients who were hospitalized for diagnostic coronary angiography in hospitals in an urban area of Iran. A convenient sampling method was used to recruit samples via interviews and laboratory examinations for FBS, iron, TIBC, ferritin, creatinine serum, CBC, cholesterol, HDL and LDL. The samples were divided into control and intervention groups. After coronary angiography, the intervention group was evaluated by four different methods including the extent score, stenos is score, vessel score and Duke CAN Index. The samples were consisted of 89 men (60.1%) and 59 women (39.9%). The levels of ferritin (p=0.003) and iron (p=0.002), and transferrin saturation percent (p=0.002) showed significant differences between males and females (p=0.004)

Abstract Objective This study sought to determine if there was a difference in the months of oral contraception prescribed by physicians living in U.S. states with a 12-month supply policy compared to physicians in states without a policy. Methods We conducted an exploratory descriptive study using a convenience sample of Obstetrics & Gynecology resident physicians (n=275) in the United States. Standard bivariate analyses were used to compare the difference between groups. Results Few physicians in both groups (3.8% with a policy and 1.4% without a policy) routinely prescribed a 12-month supply of contraception. The mean coverage prescribed by providers in states with and without a policy was 2.81 and 2.07 months (p<0.05). Conclusions The majority of physicians were unaware of 12-month contraceptive supply policies and unable to correctly write a prescription for 12-months of contraception, regardless of whether they lived in a state with a 12-month contraceptive supply policy. Physician education may be needed to effectively implement 12-month contraceptive supply policies.

A descriptive type of cross sectional study on exploring the common oro-dental problems among the patients attending outpatient department of Ohud Dental Care and implant center, Bogra was conducted during the period from May to July’ 2013. The objectives of this study were to identify the common oro-dental problems for assessing the level of knowledge regarding dental care practices among the respondents. A questionnaire based data were collected and the sample compares 414 respondents of all age groups. The highest percentage of the patients had complaints of periodontitis (73.9%) followed by gingivitis (64.3%), dental caries (40.6%), attrition (10.4%), mobility (5.8%), broken teeth (5.6%) and alveolar abscess (6.3%). Considering the pattern of inflammation, 425.5% had inflammatory or-dental problems and 56.6% had non-inflammatory oro-dental problems. On examination also revealed that 3 1.9% unhealthy gums, 3.9% had unhealthy tonsils, 10.3% had diseased tongue, 10.7% had diseases mucosa and 4.1% had apthus ulcer. The proportion of illiterate patients were higher among the inflammatory disease (16.7%) compared to non-inflammatory disease (9.8%), where as respondents having graduate level of education were higher among the non- inflammatory disease (30.8%) compared to inflammatory diseases (8.3%). There was significant association between the oro-dental problems and food habit (p>O.O5) except liking of sweet and habit of area nut and lime (p<O.05). This indicated that the proportion of non-inflammatory dental problems were higher among the patients habituate with sweet (82.5%) compared to inflammatory disease (72.2%). But the proportion of inflammatory disease was higher among the patients having habituated with chewing areca nut line (35.0%) than non- inflammatory disease (26.1%). Knowledge of causes of dental problems higher among the patients having non-inflammatory disease (62.0%) compared to inflammatory disease (46.7%) and the difference was statistically significant (p<O.001). Similarly, the proportion of visiting dental surgeon was significantly (p<0.001) higher among the patients having non-inflammatory disease (4.4%).International Journal of Natural Sciences (2015), 5(1) 15-20

Background: Applying peripheral venous lactate instead of arterial lactate in clinical practice is questionable because of deviation between both values. We aimed to find the relationship between the arterial lactate and the peripheral venous lactate before reasoned that the venous lactate could be used in substitution to the arterial lactate in sepsis. Methods: We conducted a prospective, cross-sectional study at a university hospital. The patients with sepsis in ICU who required lactate level monitoring were enrolled in this research. The correlation and agreement between arterial lactate (A-LACT) and peripheral venous lactate (V-LACT) were the primary outcomes. Results: A total of 63 paired samples were collected. The A-LACT and V-LACT were strongly correlated ( r = .934, P < .0001, r2 = .873). The regression equation was A-LACT = (0.934 × V-LACT) − 0.236. The mean difference between V-LACT and A-LACT was 0.66 ± 1.53 mmol/L. The 95% limits of agreement were between −3.66 and 2.33 mmol/L. The V-LACT ≥ 4 mmol/L can predict A-LACT level ≥ 4 mmol/L with 87.5% sensitivity and 91.5% specificity, and the area under receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.948. Conclusion: The present study demonstrated a strong correlation between A-LACT and V-LACT, but an agreement between both parameters was poor. We suggest not to use the V-LACT in substitution to the A-LACT in sepsis regarding the absolute value and clearance rate, but the V-LACT ≥ 4.5 mmol/L may be used for predicting the A-LACT ≥ 4 mmol/L.

Background: Self-regulation in learning (Self-regulated learning) is a concept about how a student becomes a regulator for his own learning. Self-regulation is a process in which a student activates and supports cognition, behavior, and feelings which are systematically oriented towards achieving a goal. Learning outcomes are determined by effort rather than level of intelligence. The effort in question is that students are able to organize themselves to learn independently. Purpose: : This study aims to determine the relationship between self-regulated learning and the Indonesian midwife competency test. Methods: The research design used analytical survey with cross sectional study approach using snow ball sampling technique with a sample size of 192 respondents. Results: The results showed that there was no relationship between Self Regulated Learning and the results of the Indonesian Midwives Competency Test with a value of p = 0.236 (> α value). The need for further research on other factors that affect the results of the Indonesian Midwives Competency Test.

Objective: To investigate the adaptation of pregnant women to the recommended weight gain range according to body mass index (BMI) and to determine the factors affecting them. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in a university hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology unit (tertiary center) in Turkey. This study was conducted between March 2018 and August 2018 (6 months) in pregnant women. Pregnant women with chronic disease and receiving treatment during antenatal follow-up, with twin pregnancy, with a fetus with a congenital abnormality, and nutritional disturbance were excluded from the study. Eight hundred twelve pregnant women with normal antenatal follow-up and who volunteered to participate were included in the study. Results: The mean age of the participants was 27.66±5.05 years. The mean weight and BMI before pregnancy were near standard in all participants. The group with the highest rate of recommended weight gain according to BMI before pregnancy was the group with low weight pregnant women. The ideal weight gain rate in all groups was 32%. Conclusions: The groups with overweight and obese pregnant women according to BMI before pregnancy had the highest rates of weight gain, above the recommended limits. BMI before pregnancy directly affects weight gain during pregnancy and the importance of pre-pregnancy counseling and weight loss is emphasized once again. doi: https://doi.org/10.12669/pjms.35.5.133 How to cite this:Ozdilek R, Aba YA, Aksoy SD, Sik BA, Akpak YK.
