<p>Abstract: This experimental study aims to determine the effects of teaching media and learning interest on students' writing skills in recount text. The sample of the research is 80 respondents. The technique of collecting data of each variable was acquired from the test. The data were analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA 2x2). The research shows that: 1) there is a significant effect of teaching media towards students writing skills in recount text at State Senior High School in Pandeglang Regency. It is proved by the value Sig 0,000 &lt; 0,05 and Fo = 87,444; 2) there is a significant effect of learning interest towards students writing skill in recount text at State Senior High School in Pandeglang Regency. It is proved by the value Sig 0, 000 &lt; 0,05 and Fo = 46,751; 3) there are no significant interactive effects of teaching media and learning interest towards students' writing skills in recount text at state senior high school in Pandeglang Regency. It is proved by the value Sig 0,05 or 0,380 &gt; 0,05 and Fo = 0,778.<br />Keywords: teaching media, learning interest, writing skills, recount text.</p>

Writing is one of the four skills studied in the Indonesian language lesson. Unfortunately, many students find that it is difficult to make a short story. Writing needs the media to pull out ideas when the students write the short stories. This study aims to investigate the usage of the newspaper clipping media to improve the students’ short story writing skills. The research method employed was a quantitative approach with a quasi-experiment design and the new version of SPSS data analysis. The research was conducted from April to May 2017 at SKB Sumbawa regency. The findings showed that (1) by using the newspaper clipping media, there was a significant improvement of the package C (equal to Senior High School Level) students’ short story writing skills in SKB Sumbawa regency, (2) there was an increase of the post-test result to 80% (Good), (3) the result of t-test was 13.253>1ttable=2.021 which meant that there was a significant correlation of using the newspaper clipping media (x1) to the short story writing skill (x2). Based on the research the result, it is suggested that (1) it is important to use the newspaper clipping media in the writing lesson, (2) a joyful learning should use a media and (3) the usage of the newspaper clipping media is strongly recommended to improve the package C (equal to Senior High School Level) students’ short story writing skill.   References Arsyad, A. Writing is the most important skill in learning a language. Through writing is a way to express student’s ideas, but most students are still deeply mistaken in spelling, grammar, vocabulary and also punctuation. The one way to fix it is to give the students solution with a tool that can help and guide to show their mistake. This research aim of improving students writing skills using Grammarly application. By using Grammarly students are guided to find out students' errors and how to fix it and improve their writing skills using Grammarly application, especially in second grade in senior high school. This research used a qualitative method through pre-test and posttest. The subject of this research is consists of 32 students in second grade in senior high school. The research finding that’s after using Grammarly application can improve student’s ability in writing and express what their thought and felt. It suggested that students should be confident in conveying their ideas into written form as well as maximizing this Grammarly application to help them find errors in writing and can find the correct one. This study analyzed the proportion of language skills in English textbook using descriptive quantitative method. This study aimed to find out the proportion of language skills in English textbook grade XI published by Kemendikbud 2014, and to find out the suitability of language skills in English textbook grade XI published by Kemendikbud 2014 and the goal of English subject's syllabus for Senior High School. The object of this research was English textbook for grade XI (Senior High School) published by Kemendikbud 2014 (1st and 2nd semester). The instrument used was evaluation checklist to collect the data about the proportion of language skills. The result showed that the textbook focuses more on writing skills (35%), grammar (32%), speaking (25%), reading (7%), and listening had the lowest proportion of (1%). The result of the evaluation showed that this textbook represent the writing skill that integrated with other skills. This textbook has the appropriate proportion on  two  skills (writing and speaking) however, it has inappropriate proportion on other two skills (listening and reading).

The aim of this study is to use mind mapping to improve students' writing skills on Analytical Exposition Text. Classroom Action Research was used as the method, which consists of two cycles divided into four stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The instruments used to collect data include a questionnaire, a test, and an observation checklist. The Mind mapping technique was found to be effective in improving the writing skills of SMA AL-MIFTAH Palengaan- Pamekasan students in XI grade Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris on Analytical exposition text. The research found an improvement in the students' writing ability in the second cycle. The students' writing ability scores who achieved the standard achievement/KKM were 26 students, indicating that 87 percent of the students reached the target, and most of the students achieved more than the target of success criteria.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to describe things as follows. First, describes the skills of reading appreciative grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang. Second, it describes the writing skills text cerpen grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang. Third, explain the relationship between the reading appreciative with writing skill text cerpen grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang. This type of research correlation between appreciative reading skills and writing skills text cerpen of grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang is quantitative research with descriptive methods. Based on the reslt of the study, the following three things concluded. First, the appreciative reading skills of grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang are in good qualification (81,32). Second, the writing skills text cerpen on grade XI Senior High school 2 Padang are in good qalification (82.24). Third, there is a significant correlation between appreciative reading skills and writing skills text cerpen of grade XI Senior High School 2 Padang at n-1 degress freedom and a sicnificant level of 95%. Kata Kunci: korelasi, membaca apresiatif, menulis teks cerpen

The main objectives of the research are: (1) to identify whether pictures can improve students’ paragraph writing skill for the tenth graders of Senior High School in SMAN 1 Magetan; (2) to identify the students’s motivation when the pictures are used to teach paragraph writing skill for the tenth graders of Senior High School in SMAN 1 Magetan in academic year 2018/2019. The Research was carried out at SMAN 1 Magetan, East Java, in second semester from January 2019 to May 2019. The subjects of the research are 34 students of grade X. MIPA -1 consisting of 14 boys and 20 girls. The data were obtained from several techniques: test, observation, interview, questioners, and document analysis. To analyze the qualitative data, I used interactive model; while to analyze quantitative data, I applied a descriptive statistics. It is done by comparing the mean of pre-test and post-test. There are some findings of the research which include: pictures can improve students’ paragraph writing skill for the tenth graders of Senior High School in SMAN 1 Magetan. The improvements of paragraph writing skill comprise: (1) writing topic sentence; (2) writing supporting sentences; and (3) using correct grammar and cohesive devices (conjunctions). In addition, the students’ motivation is better when the pictures are used to teach paragraph writing skill for the tenth graders of Senior High School in SMAN 1 Magetan. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that applying pictures as media can improve students’ paragraph writing. Therefore, it is recommended that the teachers can use pictures as an effective media to improve the students’ paragraph writing skill.

This study employed the multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) procedure to examine the influence of students’ sex, age and course of study (department) on mathematics performance in Nalerigu Senior High School of the East Mampurisi district in the Northern of Ghana. The results showed that male students perform better on the average for all the mathematics performance indicators (understanding, knowledge and perception). The MANOVA analysis revealed that students performance in mathematics do not differ across sex (gender) and age group. The results however showed that there was significant difference in performance of mathematics across course of study (department). However, the univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA) results revealed that there was no sex difference in understanding and knowledge of mathematics while significant differences exist in perception of mathematics among male and female students. Further, the study revealed a significant difference in students understanding and knowledge in mathematics and no bias in perception of mathematics among students age. The study therefore recommended that, the Ministry of Education, school managements and other stakeholders such as Non Governmental Organizations should sensitize students to discard beliefs and practices that prohibit effective participation of female students which result to poor performance in mathematics.

The research aims at improving students’ writing skills using collaborative learning at 10th-grade students of the Senior High School 1 of Veteran Sukoharjo. This research was a classroom action research. The technique used in this research consisted of planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research was applied in two cycles. Every cycle consisted of three meetings. In the technique of collecting data, the researcher used qualitative and quantitative techniques. The qualitative data were collected from documentation, observation and interview with teachers and some students. The quantitative data were collected from the score of the students’ pre-test ad post-test, validity and reliability. The result of the research showed that collaborative learning could improve students’ writing skills. By using collaborative learning, the students showed active and have self-confidence in the teaching-learning process. This method brought positive result. The progress of the students’ writing skills also can be seen from the result of the tests score. In the multiple-choice pre-test, the mean score of the pre-test was 59,7and improved to be 68,1in post-test 1 of cycle 1. In cycle 2, the mean score of post-tests 2 was 79,7. In the essay pre-test, the mean score of the pre-test was 61,3and improved to be 69,1in post-test 1 of cycle 1. In cycle 2, the mean score of post-tests 2 was 78,4. It could be concluded that there was a significant improvement in the students writing skills after using collaborative learning.

This research was aimed to: produce module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application that proper to increase learning interest and cognitive learning outcome, know the increasing interest of senior high school students which use learning media module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application, and know the increasing of cognitive learning outcome of senior high school students which use learning media module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application.  The result show that: the module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application is proper to increase learning interest and cognitive learning outcome of senior high school students seen from very good and good results category of practitioner appraisal and student’s response, the increasing of student’s learning interest which use module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application by low category standard gain, and the increasing of student’s cognitive learning outcome which use module based on e-book using Kvisoft Flipbook Maker application by medium category standard gain

The purpose of this study was to analyze and describe the students’ learning interest of class X IIS 1 Jelimpo Senior High School in the academic year of 2018/2019 in Landak Regency. This study was descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study was the students of X IIS consisted of two classes. The sample of this study was 76 students who were selected using saturated sampling technique. The technique in collecting data was using questionnaire. The result shows that the students’ percentage average score was 58%. So it can be concluded that most students are interested in learning mathematic. Based on gender, male students reach the average percentage of 55% and female students reach 62%. Thus, most of them have learning interest of mathematic. If it is compared, the percentage average of female students’ interest in learning mathematic is higher than male students (62% &gt; 55%). In short, the female students’ learning interest is higher than male students’ in mathematic subject for class X IIS 1 Jelimpo Senior High School.
