The implementation of occupational health and safety among the industrial circle and society in Indonesia is still relatively low, thus resulted in an occupational accident. Preventive attempts or anticipation for occupational accidents can be conducted by fostering habituation of order, discipline, and maintaining a healthy and safe environment through worker compliance to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The use of Personal Protective Equipment will safeguard the workers from potential hazards in the workplace. This research aims to find factors related to worker compliance in using Personal Protective Equipment in Madubaru Inc. Yogyakarta. This research is correlation research with the cross-sectional approach. The sample in this research are 86 workers, in steam boiler station and milling obtained using purposive sampling. Data collection is conducted through the Personal Protective Equipment compliance questionnaire. Additionally, data analysis is performed using a correlation analysis test with chi-square with a confidence level of 95 % (α= 0.05). The finding of this research showed that 76. 7 % of workers did not comply with the utilization of PPE. All variables were not related to the worker compliance in using PPE that is age (p-value 0. 942), education (p-value 0. 300), the length of employment (p-value 0. 077), employment status (p-value 0. 797), knowledge (p-value 0. 961), attitude (p-value 0. 780), motivation (p-value 0. 487), supervision (p-value 0.674), and PPE availability (p-value 0.222It can be concluded that individual characteristics, knowledge, attitude, motivation, supervision, and availibility had no significant correlation with PPE compliance in Madubaru Inc. Workplaces always have various hazard factors that can affect the health of the workforce or can cause work-related disorders or illnesses. Accidents, the essence is an unexpected event and certainly not expected by anyone. These unexpected events, obviously not a form of intentional and not planned in advance. Accidents arise as a result of managing potential hazards and risks to low occupational safety and health. The purpose of the study was to analyze the factors that influence employee work accidents at PT. Windu Blambangan Sejati (WBS) Banyuwangi Regency. The research design used was cross sectional. The research population is all employees of PT. Windu Blambangan Sejati (WBS) Banyuwangi Regency and a large sample of 81 people using simple random sampling. Data collection using questionnaire sheets was then analyzed using logistic regression tests. The results showed that there was an influence of skills on workplace accidents (p-value = 0.027 <0.05). There is an influence of experience on workplace accidents (p-value = 0.043 <0.05). There is an influence of discipline on workplace accidents (p-value = 0.040 <0.05). There is an influence of Technical factors (availability of equipment) on workplace accidents (p-value = 0.003 <0.05). There is no effect of lay out on work accidents (p-value = 0.420> 0.05). There is no effect of lighting on work accidents (p-value = 0.944> 0.05). There is no noise effect on work accidents (p-value = 0.084> 0.05). Based on these studies, company management pays more attention to these three factors, namely human, technical and environmental by conducting periodic and periodic maintenance

Abstract Background Farmers in the U.S. and in Europe are at a high risk for injury and illness. Farmers have an increased risk of respiratory disease, noise-induced hearing loss, skin disorders, and eye injuries. Many of these health risks can be prevented or reduced through proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). However, studies show low compliance of PPE use among farmers. The purpose of this study was to identify barriers to wearing PPE, and current health and safety training as potential targets for future intervention, in farmers in Nebraska, Lithuania, Latvia, and Slovenia. The European Cooperation in Science and Technology and the Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health collaborated on this study. Methods We administered a 7-item questionnaire to 57 farmers in Nebraska (n = 10), Lithuania (n = 22), Latvia (n = 10) and Slovenia (n = 15). The farmers primarily grew crops (corn, soy) and some raised livestock. Results We found that gloves, respirators, and safety glasses were the PPE most commonly worn; use of face shields were only reported in Nebraska and Lithuania. Only 45% reported wearing PPE always when they needed them. In Nebraska and Latvia, most farmers reported not wearing PPE because they are not readily available although they have them on the farm; in Lithuania and Slovenia, farmers cited time to don PPE and discomfort as primary reasons. The percentage of farmers who reported receiving training on the selection, use, and maintenance of PPE varied widely-13% in Nebraska, 14% in Lithuania, 40% in Latvia, and 67% in Slovenia. Farmers purchased PPE over the internet, supermarkets, and agricultural cooperatives. Conclusions This study provided an opportunity to understand current perceptions of PPE use and challenges, among a cross section of farmers in the U.S. and Europe. We recommend enhancing training through creative modules to address the needs of farmers. Key messages By identifying why farmers do not always wear PPE, we can design effective interventions to overcome this barrier; by knowing where they purchase them, we can provide education at these venues. This study is a joint collaboration between U.S. and European researchers. This global cooperation has highlighted some similarities but also differences within European countries.
