The purpose of the study was to develop a learning model on writing, based on reflection strategy. The strategy would allow the students to read the text then develop the main idea. Therefore the problem of this research : (1) what kind of learning model that can develop the students writing ability? (2) is the using of the strategy effective to develop students competence in writing? (3) in what level are the students interest toward the using of a strategy in writing subject? This development research consisted of some steps, they are (1) need analysis (2) model design (3) implementation (4) model evaluation. The need analysis was applied through discussion among the writing lecturers to create a learning model for writing subject. To see the effectiveness of the model, an experiment would be delivered for one class. The instrument and learning material would be validated by the experts. The research used development design. The researcher would do need analysis, creating prototype, content validation, and limited empiric experiment to the sample. In each step, there should be an assessment and revision to the drafts before continue to the next steps. The second stage, the prototype would be tested empirically to four classes at STKIP YPUP for English Department. Implementing the test greatly was done through the action research and followed by evaluation and validation from the experts.

The purpose of this study is to look for a significant influence on the application of using  Wattpad  as learning activities on students' ability to write descriptive texts. The main consideration is because an educator in this case should  used interesting instructional media, particularly to teach writing so that the potential of students can be developed optimally. Meanwhile the development of writing of English Department Students of Putera Batam University is still relatively low in quality. Wattpad is an applications which provides the students  an opportunity to write, promote and help their writing  reach acroos  the world. The design of the research was quasi-experimental research that want to find out the effect of  using Wattpad towards students  writing ability. To know students’ writing ability, this research uses writing test as Instrument. There are three pre tests and post tests. The pre-test were used to see students writing ability before having treatment and posttest are used to see the differences on students  writing ability after giving treatments. The subjects were the students of English Department of Putera Batam University who took writing class. The data found that  using Wattpad has a significant effect on student’s writing ability. This conclusion can be seen based on the analysis that has been done where the obtained Z score was smaller than critical value, the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Hi) was accepted. So, based on the results , it was concluded that there was statistically diffrence between the pre-test and post-test score at the 0.05 levels. It means that teaching writing  by using wattpad gives significant effect on students’ writing ability

One of the curriculum’s expectations at the fourth semester of english department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan (IPTS) is students are able to write narrative text. But in fact, students’ writing narrative text ability is still low, so researcher conduct a research in that field. The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) the extent of students’ writing narrative text ability, and 2) the significant effect of using character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS. The method of research is mix method by combining quantitative and qualitative method. The researcher collected the data by using interview and composition writing test. The sample was taken by using total sampling technique, it was 25 students. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive and inferential analysis, it was t-test formula by Arikunto. The findings of the research are the mean score of students’ writing ability before using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 53.54 which categorized bad, then after using character oriented local wisdom based learning model was 82.50 which categorized good. The hypothesis testing showed that t-test was higher than t-table, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. It clearly seen that there is a significant effect of character oriented local wisdom based learning model on students’ writing narrative text ability at the fourth semester students of english department in IPTS.

<p>This study deals with the effect of hamburger strategy on writing descriptive text. Hamburger strategy is a writing organizer strategy that visually outlines the key components of a paragraph. When writing by using hamburger strategy, the students will learn to remember how to build the paragraph and the importance of each component. It was conducted by using experimental quantitative research. The population of this study is the first semester  students of English Department Nommensen Medan. The writer takes 50 students as the sample and they are devided into two groups by using random sampling. The first group was  group A as Experimental class which is taught by implementing hamburger strategy while the second group is Group B as control class which is taught by using conventional method. Oral test is used  as the instrument of collecting the data. This test consists of two types, namely pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation shows t-observed that is 3. 58, which  is higher than t-table that is 1.676 at the level significance  (p: 0.05) with the degree of freedom (df) 48. It means that Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected, therefore it is concluded that hamburger  strategy  significantly affects on writing descriptive text of the first semester students of English Department in Nommensen University Medan academic year 2016/2017. It is suggested for the students of English Department as source of valuable knowledge and information when conducting a research related to the study. Writing is an activity to write and reformulate ideas to create meaning on a paper. In teaching writing, there are many influences, such as creativity. Creativity is an ability to create new product that can be useful and effective in original of thinking. This research is aimed at finding out whether creativity has significance influences toward writing achievement. The research was conducted at IAIN Metro in the academic year of 2012/2013. The population of this research was the third semester students of English Department of IAIN Metro. The result of this research is the students who have creativity could give significant effects on the students' writing ability and the creativity that was given by the lecturer was effective.

All the sentences in a paragraph should be organized well to support the main idea which is stated in one sentence called topic sentence. In fact, the sixth semesters students of English Department of Christian University of Indonesia Toraja can write an essay but the paragraph in the essay sometime still far from a good paragraph. It is still difficult for students to construct a good paragraph. This is caused by the lack of skill in constructing paragraph. The objective of this research is to produce teaching writing strategy based on the identified errors by Satayatam and Pongrat criteria (2008). This research is designed as quantitative descriptive research. The result of the analysis shows that using outline is the strategy developed based on the result.

This research was carried out to answer about the preparation, implementation, students’ response, and students’ writing in teaching writing recount text by using scrapbook through project-based learning since corona virus pandemic. The design was descriptive qualitative. The data collecting method were interview, observation, questionnaire and documentation. The result of this research showed that the preparation had been supported by the sets of equipment such as by syllabus, lesson plan, learning model, technique, material, media, and assessment. Then, the implementation was implemented in six steps. Then, the students’ responses showed in percentage 92%. It meant that the students gave the positive responses. While, the students’ written showed that all the students has completed 100% the writing task. All the students’ value above minimum criteria of mastery learning. From the result finding, it showed that teaching writing by using scrapbook through project-based learning was good to improve students’ writing ability.

The study aimed at investigating the relationship between writing strategies, and writing ability of Iranian EFL students. The participants were 120 students learning English in the Iranian EFL context. Data were gathered by means of a writing strategies questionnaire and an IELTS writing task. The results of Pearson correlation test revealed that there was a statistically significant relationship between the variables. The results have some implications for teaching writing in the EFL context.

The confusion of lecturers in teaching English with specific and suitable material for students who choose majors other than the English department is the main problem mostly encountered found by the writers is the basic reason for conducting this research. The main purpose of having this article is to fill the absence of material provided for students in Accounting Department in Riau University. Through descriptive methods, qualitative approaches and instruments used in the form of a close-ended questionnaire in which the form of questions refer to the need analysis proposed by Hutchinson & Water (necessities, wants, and lacks) of the students, initialized and complemented with their latest English language level and an adaptation questionnaire from Adnan was researched as well. The data was  obtained from a number of students majoring in Accounting for academic year of 2020/2021 class E at the Faculty of Economics, Riau University which were converted to frequency and rounded to a percentage. Dominated by students who have basic English skills, the students have various necessities, wants, and lacks in learning English. Eventually based on the finding, a proposed material model was framed.
