Character education aims to develop the ability of students to be able to distinguish between good and bad bandages, maintaining good deeds and realizing those good deedsinlife daily. Therefore, character education essentially involves aspects of knowledge (cognitive), feelings (affective), and actions (psychomotor). The implementation of character education is not only in the subjects of Education Citizenship and Religious, but character education can also be applied to all subjects not least in learning Indonesian and English. In Indonesian subjects character education can be applied in activities such as making essays, poems, prose, reclamation, learning to make speeches, writing letters, and analyzing the extrinsic elements of a story.

Affective domain of language learning is not only character education which is general, but education of morality language which is based on Al Quran and Hadith. Language akhlak education needs to be implemented from an early age through language learning so that learners have akhlakul karimah. This paper discusses the implementation of moral education in accordance with Al Quran and Hadith in learning Indonesian language and literature in primary school. The goal is to show that there are moral values ​​that are in accordance with Al Quran and Hadith on learning Indonesian language and literature. Thus, the direction and objectives of learning Indonesian language and literature more clearly, especially in the affective domain. Language akhlak that is implemented, namely: 1) speak properly both substance and redaction; 2) effective, efficient, and communicative language; 3) language with a rational reason; 4) language that does not hurt the heart; 5) the use of language to respect others; 6) the use of language in accordance with applicable norms; and, 7) the Islamic rules of listening.

The research and development of Indonesian textbooks is very important especially for the textbook which integrates character education using communicative approach. Many textbooks have been published, but they are often only for reference in assignments and exercises. The existing textbooks do not fully use text that is a genre in learning Indonesian, namely the pedagogic genre. This research aims to produce forms of competence, material forms, forms of tasks, and forms of assessment in the development of Indonesian Language and Literature textbooks integrated with character education based on communicative approaches for junior high school. The method used was research and development with reference to the Borg and Gall model. The showed that learning devices, teaching books, are feasible to implement. In addition, practitioners' assessment of the implementation of this textbook is 3,526 categories "Good". Likewise, the assessment of students in the three aspects occupies the highest category of Good. Therefore, the development of the Indonesian Language and Literature textbook can already be said to be feasible to use for the teachers and the students of Junior High School, especially for SMP Pangudi Luhur 1  in Yogyakarta.

<em>This study aimed to describe and explain: (1) the aspects of diction used in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata; (2) the values of character education in the novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata; and (3) the relevance of Andrea Hirata’s novel Ayah as a teaching material of language and literature in Vocational High School. This study is a qualitative research that analyzes the data in the form of documents with the object of study of novel Ayah by Andrea Hirata. The results of this study are as follows. (1) The diction aspect contained in Andrea Hirata's father's novel includes five types of diction, (2) Novels contain sixteen points of character education values, (3) Novel Ayah is relevant to the learning of Indonesian language and literature in SMK because the aspect of diction and the value of character education in accordance with the learning objectives that have been designed using the Learning Implementation Plan based on the Core Competence and Basic Competence which includes the competencies that the learners must achieve in language and literature learning. Dad's novel can increase students' vocabulary mastery according to language ability, student psychology, and cultural background.</em>

<p><em>The character education refers to the efforst to bring up the children to be mature with good ethics and morales. In Hindu, the education is setting the foundation, orientation, and perspectives that could be used mentally and spiritually for the character building. The mental toughness is related to the intelectuality as well as the personality that could avoid negativity and keep on progressing and understanding the tests of life. Spirituality is related to the belief in God, developing the devotion to Him, and taking any works as a service to Him. ABSTRACTIndonesia has an education figure that greatness is not inferior to other world education figures i.e. Ki Hajar Dewantara. He explained that education is an effort in increasing the growth of manners (inner strength, character, mind, and intellectualism) from the body of the students, so the live of the students suit their world. Learning is defined by Knowles as a way of organizing learners to achieve the goal. Manners operationally is a positive behavior that is done through the custom that is formed into a person's character/learners. Based on these two definitions appears that education, learning, character/characters is a unity that cannot be separated with each other. Positive behaviors that must be drilled to learners consists of many aspects and one of them is how to speak. Thus, training the speech containing positive behavior is mandatory for language teacher (Indonesian Language). Any language skills cannot be trained separately between one's skills with other language skills. As a professional teacher, arranging strategies for Indonesian language teacher which are always associated with character education will no longer be a burden. Literature is a picture of human life. Literature becomes right media in imparting a positive character for learners. Through the Indonesia language teacher professionalism will form a younger generation who have lofty manners or strong character. Keywords: learning, language and literature, characters.

Abstract: This study is the development of teaching materials based on language character education to improve the politeness of speech acts in students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Development of integrated language teaching material in pragmatic subjects. In general, this study aims to develop teaching materials related to character education speaking in the Malay speech politeness in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program IKIP PGRI Pontianak students. The results obtained in this study that teaching materials used by researchers are feasible to use with a percentage of 78.94% and the results of the hypothesis there are differences between the results of students' speech politeness before and after applying teaching materials based on character education. This can be seen the average value of students at the pretest of 63.43 and the pottest of 71.72. Then it can be concluded that teaching materials based on character education are very suitable and feasible to be used as students of Indonesian Language and Literature Education study programs.Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis pendidikan karakter bahasa untuk meningkatkan kesopanan tindak tutur pada siswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia IKIP PGRI Pontianak. Pengembangan materi pengajaran bahasa terintegrasi dalam mata kuliah pragmatik. Secara umum, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan karakter berbicara dalam kesantunan tindak tutur bahasa Melayu di lingkungan mahasiswa Program studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan sastra Indonesia IKIP  PGRI Pontianak. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini bahwa bahan ajar yang digunakan oleh peneliti layak digunakan dengan presentase sebesar 78,94% dan hasil hipotesis terdapat perbedaan antara hasil kesantunan berbicara mahasiswa sebelum dan sesudah menerapkan bahan ajar berbasis pendidikan karakter. Hal ini dapat dilihat nilai rata-rata mahasiswa pada pretest sbesar 63,43 dan pottest sebesar 71,72. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahan ajar berbasis pendidikan karakter berbahasa ini sangat cocok dan layak untuk digunakan bagai mahasiswa program studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia.

Penumbuhan sikap-sikap atau karakter-karakter positif dan nilai-nilai luhur pada diri siswa dapat melalui proses pembelajaran di kelas, salah satunya ialah melalui pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra Indonesia. Selain dididik untuk memiliki karakter membaca dan kreatif, siswa dapat pula dididik untuk memiliki karakter jujur, sopan santun, empati pada sesama atau teman sebaya, dan menghormati orang tua dan gurunya. Para siswa di sekolah akan senang membaca dan mengarang karya sastra apabila para gurunya telah senang membaca dan mengarang karya sastra pula. Dalam hal ini, forum para guru (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran) dapat dimanfaatkan untuk forum diskusi antarguru dalam mengapresiasi dan berkreasi karya sastra, serta dukungan dari pihak sekolah terhadap ketersediaan bahan bacaan karya sastra yang lengkap di perpustakaan sekolah. FORGOTTEN SUN: CHARACTER EDUCATION IN INDONESIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE INSTRUCTION AT SCHOOLAbstractInculcating positive attitudes or positive characters and high values in students can be through teaching processes in the classroom, one of which is through teaching Indonesian language and literature. In addition to being taught to have reading and creative character, students can also be taught to have character of honesty, good manner, empathy for others or peers, and respect to parents and teachers. The students at the school will be happy to read and compose literary works when their teachers have enjoyed reading and composing literary works as well. In this case, the teachers' forum (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran/MGMP) can be used as teachers’ discussion forum in appreciating and creating literary work, as well as support from the school to the availability of a complete reading of literary work in the school library.

This research talks about “The Role of Education of Islam at School to Form the Characters of Students”. Islamic Education (PAI) is one of the parts of the main character. Character education will develop well if it is started from giving the foundation of character of diversity to the students. That’s why, the material of Islamic education (PAI) at school becomes one of the supporters in character education. By the learning of PAI, students are taught “aqidah” as a basic of religy.  The students are taught Al-Quran dan hadis as the guidance of life, fiqih as the regulation of law in doing good deeds, sejarah Islam as an example of life, and akhlak as a guideline of human being behavior to know the category of goodness and badness. Therefore, the main intention of Islamic education (PAI) learning is to form positive personality and character of students reflected from their behaviors and their way of thinking in the daily life. Aside from it, one of the success of Islamic education (PAI) learning at schools is also decided by the implementation of good method of learning.

Novel is a kind of literary works which loads lots of character education values. It is created by extraordinary imaginative elements. This article aims at describing character education values in the novel entitled Ayah written by Andrea Hirata. The analysis applied psychology of literature approach. The result of analysis shows that in total there are fifteen different character education values found out in the novel, namely religiousity, honesty, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democracy, curiousity, national spirit, love country, appreciation, friendly/communicative, love peace, social care, responsibility. It is suggested that the result of this research can be an input for considering the importance of character education values as capitals for the students to face the upcoming era, beneficial for the Indonesian language and literature teacher-learning process, and ideas for further research to develop literary education, particularly related to psychological and character education value aspects.

This article provides information about the life and work of Alisher Navoi, his good deeds as a statesman, as well as the friendly relations between Hussein Boykaro and Navoi. Navoi’s services as a social psychologist, sponsor of culture, conscious scientist, famous poet, great thinker, defend-er of the language and literature of the Turkic peoples are also analyzed.When Hussein Boykaro ascended the throne of Khorasan, a new stage in Navoi’s life and work began. He appointed first to the post of seal holder, and then to the post of Prime Minister and Governor of Astrobod. Even Hussein Boykaro, in return for his wise advice and noble deeds, gave Alisher Navoi the title of “muqarrabi hazrati sultoniy” (“the closest person to the sultan”).Alisher Navoi respected the spiritual values of other nations and supported the prosperity and development of the Turkic peoples. During the period 1480-1500, he built several madrasahs, 40 rabots (passenger stops), 17 mosques, 10 khanaqahs, 9 baths, 9 bridges, and 20 swimming pools at his own expense
