Literary works are the reflection of real life. Movie is a literary work that tells a story by using some conflict. The character in a movie usually describes the human psychology and behavior. Ambition is one of human psychology. This research discusses about the ambition of the main characters in Perfume: the Story of a Murderer. This movie tells about the ambitious the main character to make a perfume by killed 26 victims. He has an ambition to fulfill their psychogenic needs. The fulfillment of psychogenic needs that is experienced by the main character on the movie is analyzed in Henry Murray's The Need Theory of Personality. This research is conducted by using the qualitative method. This research uses psychological approach to analyze the fictitious of the main character. This paper aims to describe the female characters in the novel Kabar Bunga by Marsiraji Thahir, the conflicts and its causes, and the impact of the conflicts experienced by women in the novel Kabar Bunga by Marsiraji Thahir. This novel is examined by a psychological approach in literature, a literary approach that emphasizes the psychological aspects of the types and laws of psychology that can be applied to literary works. The data is qualitative since the purpose of this research is to explain or describe the phenomena of the researches deeply. The data were obtained by categorizing all the related dialogues in the story, then psychologically analyzed. Triangulation was used to validate the data.  After finishing all the steps of analyzing data, the interpretations were made based on the data and the theory. The results of the research were, psychologically, the main character in this novel is described as a person who often feels worried, frightened, keeping the reality up, and she is burdened by the problems faced. This portrayal is the representation of Wulan as a woman and woman emotionally and mentally is depicted as a weakness persona without having the ability to solve the problems.

The writer chose one of literary works—film entitled “The Analysis of Sociopath of Louis Bloom’s Character in Nightcrawler” to be anlyzed. The writer interested to analyze the main character in this film—Louis who used all people around him for the sake of his own intention. He even did not care if people whom he used finally dead. He even recorded the murded scene as calm as it was nothing just casual events that could happen anytime. The purpose of this study was  to analyze the types of sociopath character in Louis Bloom and to describe how it can affect his perspective towards his goal. The method of this study was a descriptive. The writer watched Nightcrawler movie to observe the main chharacter and he manipulated people to smooth his way. The writer also read the movie script to understand Louis’ character deeper.To analyze the sociopath of main character, the writer used the psychological approach of Grossman’s theory of psychoanalysis Keywords:  sociopath character and psychological approach

Literary work, especially film, gives life a lot of inspiration. Movie makes the reader aware that the story that happens in a movie is a reflection of a real life. Characters are people in narratives, and characterization explains things done by a character. Moreover, there are several reasons why the writer studied characterization of the main character in “The Social Network” Movie Script, First, the writer is interested in studying literature about movie,  this movie has remarkable characters. Second, this movie can give inspiration to all people about fight against arbitrariness and peacefull campaign. Statements of the research problem are: 1) What is the physical appearance of the main characters? 2) How is the personality of the main characters? 3) How is the social status of the main characters? 4) How is the social relationship of the main characters? The purpose of this analysis is to explain: 1) the physical appearance of the main characters, 2) the personality of the main characters, 3) the social status of the main characters, 4) the main characters’ social relationship. The approach used in this analysis is qualitative research, the research data are all phrases and dialogs between characters in the film that are linked to character characterization. The results of this research show that the main characters Loung Ung and Pa/ Mr. Ung have made a great contribution to the plot. Characterization is about the physical appearance, personality, social status and social relationship of the main characters. Loung Ung’s physical appearance are little girl,  slender build, average hair, caramel skin. Pa/ Mr. Ung physical appearances are average build, male, moon shape eyes, and caramel skin. Both of the main character have brave personalities, love and care, and love the whole family. For the social status they are moderate family and live in apartement in the city . Pa/ Mr.Ung is well educated person because he is an officer. Pa/ Mr.Ung has a good social relationship with the people surrounding, but Loung Ung doesn’t have a good social relationship with the people surrounding her because she is passive.

This study aims to explore East Javanese literature and writers during the pandemic through the perspective of reader response. This study uses an interpretive qualitative approach. The informants in this study were professional literary readers and ordinary literary readers. as many as 84 respondents have responded to the Indonesian Literature Reader form in East Java from various categories with a distribution of 66.3 percent of undergraduate students; 18.8 percent of Lecturers; 8.4 percent of Teachers; 4.2 percent of General; Researchers and Doctoral students got the same result, namely 1.1 percent. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews and questionnaires. The results of the study show the following. First, it represents the psychology of the author.” 58.9 percent of respondents answered that the literary work represented the psychology of the author, 28.4 percent did not know and 12.6 percent did not. Second, the literary work represents the author's psychology, as many as 58.9 percent answered yes. While at least answering the literary work does not represent the psychology of the author, which is 12.6 percent. Third, the psychology understood by the reader, namely Personality Psychology (existential, behavioral, psychoanalytic, humanistic) with 28.4 percent answered yes, while at least 1.1 percent answered Masculinity Psychology and Mass Psychology. Indonesian writers in East Java tend to bring up Javanese human psychology in their literary works?” Of these questions, 52.6 percent of respondents answered that Indonesian writers in East Java tended to bring up Javanese human psychology in their literary works, as many as 42.1 percent answered maybe and 5.3 percent answered that Indonesian writers in East Java tended not to bring up Javanese human psychology in their literature. his literary works.

This research was conducted as a form of attention to modern literary work. The researcher is interested in analyzing the novel Elgara. This study aims to be information based on the author's reading experience about the contents of this book and describe the novel's structure and the conflicts experienced by the main character in Elgara's novel. This paper is addressed to someone who has a great interest in modern literature, such as novels. This research collects data through literature review methods developed through a theoretical framework based on the literary psychology approach. The primary source data of this research gets from modern literary work entitled Elgara, written by Lusiafriaa and first published in August 2021. Based on the analysis results, This study shows that the novel Elgara has mixed plots, and two types of conflicts are internal and external. This research can conclude that researchers study the conflicts that occur to the Kyara's character in the novel Elgara using a literary psychology approach. Through the review of this novel, the author expects to bridge the gap between readers and literary works, increase the reader's love for literary works, and appreciate literary works

This study aims to provide an overview of heroic traits shown by the character Bujang in Tere Liye's novel Pulang. The method used in analyzing the data is qualitative method because the data collected and analyzed are in the form of narratives and dialogues in the text related to the heroic traits possessed by Bujang as the main character in the novel. Furthermore, this study uses descriptive techniques to define the heroic traits found in Bujang character. From the results of the analysis, it was found that eight heroic traits possessed by Bujang in the novel Pulang. The traits include caring, charismatic, inspiring, reliable, resilient, selfless, smart, and strong. This finding shows that heroic traits can be found in characters who are involved in the world of crime and also in literary works that use the setting and themes of the criminal world. By having these eight heroic traits, Bujang is a representation of a hero even though he is a character who has a role in the criminal world he lives in the novel.

This study discusses the humanity values contained in the characters War for Planet of The Apes movie. This analysis uses method of qualitative data. This study uses two kinds of data. Firstly, the primary data is from the literary work itself, War for Planet of the Apes.The secondary data such as theory books, previous studies, and journals. The data analyzed is taken from the player’s remarks in War for Planet of The Apes movie. The theory taken to discuss human values is Hardiman's theory. Hardiman said there are six of humanism values, they are (1) appreciate opinions, (2) cooperation, (3) sacrafice, (4) care about others, (5) helping, and (6) solidarity. The results of this analysis are humanitarian values that arise in the main character in terms of human nature, and how the value of humanity is realized in real life. There are four humanism values that contained in the movie, namely (1) cooperation, (2) care about others, (3) sacrifice, and (4) helping. Penelitian ini membahas tentang nilai kemanusiaan yang terdapat pada karakter dalam film War for Planet of The Apes. Metode yang dilakukan dalam menganalisis adalah kualitatif data. Pertama, data primer adalah War for Planet of The Apes. Dan data kedua seperti buku teori, pelajaran sebelumnya dan jurnal. Data yang dianalisis diambil dari ucapan pemain dalam film War for Planet of The Apes. Teori yang diambil untuk membahas nilai-nilai kemanusiaan  adalah teori Hardiman. Hardiman berpendapat bahwa ada enam nilai kemanusiaan, yaitu (1) kebebasan berpendapat,(2) kerjasama, (3) rela berkorban, (4) peduli terhadap sesama, (5) menolong, dan (6) solidaritas. Hasil dari analisis ini adalah nilai-nilai kemanusiaan yang timbul pada karakter utama dalam hal sifat humanisnya, dan bagaimana nilai kemanusiaan ini terealisasikan dalam kehidupan nyata. Nilai kemanusiaan yang terdapat dalam film tersebut ada empat, yaitu (1) kerjasama, (2) peduli terhadap sesama, (3) rela berkorban, dan (4) menolong. Kata Kunci:  Film, Karakter Utama, Nilai-Nilai Kemanusiaan

Artikel ini mendiskusikan kritik  sosial dalam novel “Anak-Anak Tukang” karya Baby Ahnan. Novel itu mengisahkan hiruk piruk kehidupan lingkungan sosial yang di dalamnya mengandung kritik sosial seperti soal pemerataan pembangunan pendidikan. Sementara pengertian kritik pada dasarnya merupakan wujud sambutan pembaca yang menghakimi serta menilai karya sastra guna memberi penilaian dan memberi keputusan baik dan buruk tidaknya suatu karya satra yang telah dibaca oleh kritikus. Metode yang digunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan sosiologi sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan fisik yang terjadi di daerah seperti Flores ternyata tidak menjamin terjadinya peningkatan kesejatraan masyarakat. Kemudian, pemanfaatan tenaga kerja lokal di sektor pembangunan menjadi tidak optimal karena pendidikan mereka rendah sebagai akibat pendidikan yang tidak merata.Katakunci: kritik, sosial, lingkungan, pendidikan Abstract:This article discusses social criticism in Baby Ahnan's novel “Anak-Anak Tukang”. The novel tells a story of the hustle and bustle of social life which contains social criticism, such as the issue of equality of education. Meanwhile, the definition of criticism is basically a form of response from readers who judge and judge literary works in order to give judgments and make decisions about whether or not a literary work has been read by critics. The method used was descriptive qualitative method and sociological literary approach. The results show that physical infrastructure development in areas such as Flores did not guarantee an improvement in the welfare of the community. Then, the utilization of local labor in the development sector is not optimal because their education is low as a result of unequal education.Keywords: criticism,  education, environmental, social

<p><em>In modern era, problems occur continuously and it triggers stress and anxiety. This study aims to describe characterization and the anxiety of the main character in ‘The Old Man and The Sea’, a novel by Ernest Hemingway. This studybelongs to library research that applied descriptive qualitative method with psychological approach. Reading and documentation techniques were used to collect the data. To analize the anxiety of the main character, a theory on psychological anxiety by Durand and Barlow were used. Abstract:This research is a literary criticism which uses psychological approach. It employs a literary criticism because the writer conducts discussion of literary works which is related with the personality of the main character in the Beastly film namely Kyle Kingson. The findings showed that there are five symptoms of depression from the main character Kyle Kingson namely, (1) feeling sad or unhappy, (2) loss of interest or pleasure daily activity that be loved before, (3) easy to be angry or easy to be offended, (4) difficult to take decision, less to concentrate, (5) feeling worthless, guilty and always thinking about past failures. Moreover, Kyle can solve his depression by himself and Zola and Will make Kyle confidence with his ugly face.Keywords: symptoms of depression, character, beastly film
