The paper presents the results of studies on the cultivation of maise in joint crops with soybean in the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia in 2003-2005. The authors studied plant height and dynamics of green mass yield of maise and soybean. As a result of recording plant height, the authors observed that corn hybrid Ob 150 CB by 25-30 cm and corn hybrid Krasnodar 382 MB by 35-47 cm were higher in single-seeded crops by harvest than in joint crops, indicating the negative impact of soybeans on corn. The maise hybrid Krasnodarskiy 382 MB reacted more strongly to the depress- ing effect of soybean than the hybrid Obskiy 150 SV in terms of plant height. This comparison was especially noticeable when it was cultivated in joint crops with the early-ripening soybean variety SibNIIK-315. In the early stages of development, the height of soybean plants in single-species and different variants of common crops did not practically differ. However, starting from the phase of fruit formation, the authors observed a decrease in the height of soybean plants in the row with maise and its increase in the intercropping. By harvesting, the difference between the height of soybean plants of the variety October 70 in the row and across the row was on average 11-24 cm. At the same time, the soybean plants of the variety October 70 were lower in the row with maise and higher in the row spacing than in the single-seeded crop. The height of the plants proves not only the principle of competitiveness but also the effect of the high range of tiering, which forces the legume component to reach for the light. In a mixture with the late-ripening maise hybrid Krasnodarskiy 382 MB, the early-ripening soybean variety contributed to a more significant decrease in the green mass yield of maise than the late-ripening soybean variety October 70. Harvesting, conducted on 2-6 September, showed that joint crops of maise, regardless of early maturity, provided a green matter yield of 23.7-40.1 t/ha. This yield was 49% and 14% lower than in the single-species crops of early maturing hybrid maise Ob 150 CB and 2-3 times lower than the mid-season hybrid Krasnodar 382 MV. The nature of the interspecific relationships indicates a more significant negative impact of early maturing soybean variety SibNIIK-315 on the productivity of maise and especially the medium-maturing hybrid Krasnodarskiy 382 MV, where the differences with the single-species sowing showed the most significant value – 51 %.

To study the reaction of an early-ripening soybean variety to the formation of plant reproductive organs under the influence of different length of daylight hours, studies of 2 sowing periods in a growing house with a new early-ripening variety Sentyabrinka of the FSBSI FRC VNII of Soybean were conducted. Artificial reduction of the daylight duration to 8 hours was established from the phase of the 3rd triple leaf with alternating day and night periods in each variant 7 times during the growing season. The control was plants whose growth and development took place in natural light conditions. According to the research results, it was found that the change in the daylight duration during the vegetation period had a significant impact on the duration of the phases of plant growth and development, the growing season as a whole. When sowing soybeans on May 28 with a natural daylight, the height of plants and their seed productivity were higher than those of plants with a shortened daylight. At this sowing period, the highest productivity was obtained from one plant – 9.3 g, which is 1.0 g more compared to soybean plants with a sowing period of June 3. The growth of plants, the formation of reproductive organs and the seed productivity of the early-repining variety Sentyabrinka depended on the duration of daylight, which can be regulated by the sowing period.

The studies were carried out to determine the effectiveness of applying calculated doses of fertilizers to the planned potato tuber yields of the early-ripening Molly and Colette group in the conditions of the forest steppe of the middle Volga region. The influence of mineral nutrition backgrounds, calculated on obtaining tuber yields of 25, 35 and 45 tons per hectare in comparison with the unapproved control, has been studied. The analysis of the leaf area dynamics of potato plants, the parameters of the leaf photosynthetic potential, the coefficient of photosynthetically active radiation factor showed that these indicators of photosynthetic activity are directly dependent on the level of mineral nutrition. Against the background of natural fertility, the Molly variety produced 16.76 tons of tubers per hectare and 18.32 tons of the Colette variety. Fertilizers, calculated for 25-45 tons of tubers per hectare, ensured the formation of Molly 28.23-43.57 t ons per hectare, Colette - 29.72-42.54 tons per hectare. The introduction of calculated doses of fertilizers at 25 and 35 tons of tubers per hectare did not result in a significant decrease in the starch content in the tubers, and the doses that were calculated for a yield of 45 tons per hectare increased the amount of nitrates and reduced the starch content in the tubers.

The results of breeding work on creation of the new cultivar of red clover are presented. The hybrid population (15-10-D (2n)) was created by the method of crossbreeding and selection in the conditions of artifi cial climate. Selection of winterhardy high-yielding forms of this hybrid population was conducted in the forest-steppe zone of West Siberia. The population 15-10-D (2n) was tested in three cycles of competitive variety trial (crops of 2006, 2008 and 2010) and was submitted to the State variety testing under the name Prima. According to the results of the competitive variety trial during 2007–2013, the new early-ripening diploid cultivar Prima showed high winter hardiness of 97.0-99.0%. The duration of the growing season is 115 days (on the level of standard early-ripening tetraploid cultivar Meteor). The yield of green mass in two cuts is 19.6-58.7 t/ha, the yield of dry matter is 4.2-13.5 t/ha, the yield of seeds is 276-392 kg/ ha. The average yield of green mass in two cuts of the new cultivar is 38.8 t/ha, the average yield of dry matter is 8.7 t/ha, the average yield of seeds is 317 kg/ha, which exceeds standard cultivar Meteor by 52%. The seed content of Prima cultivar is 52%, Meteor – 38%. The crude protein content in dry matter is 16.1%, the fi ber content is 26.0%. Prima cultivar has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation to be grown in the West Siberian region since 2019. The copyright certifi cate and patent for the breeding achievement were received.

AbstractTo address recent concerns related to auxin herbicide drift onto soybean, a study was developed to understand the susceptibility of the reproductive stage of soybean to a new auxin herbicide compared with dicamba. Florpyrauxifen-benzyl is under development as the second herbicide in a new structural class of synthetic auxins, the arylpicolinates. Field studies were conducted to (1) evaluate and compare reproductive soybean injury and yield following applications of florpyrauxifen-benzyl or dicamba across various concentrations and reproductive growth stages and (2) determine whether low-rate applications of florpyrauxifen-benzyl or dicamba to soybean in reproductive stages would have similar effect on the progeny of the affected plants. Soybean were treated with 0, 1/20, or 1/160, of the 1X rate of florpyrauxifen-benzyl (30 g ai ha−1) or dicamba (560 g ae ha−1) at R1, R2, R3, R4, or R5 growth stage. Soybean plant height and yield was reduced from 1/20X dicamba across all reproductive stages. High drift rates (1/20X) of florpyrauxifen-benzyl also reduced soybean plant height >25% and yield across R1 to R4 stages. Germination, stand, plant height, and yield of the offspring of soybean plants treated with dicamba and florpyrauxifen-benzyl were significantly affected. Dicamba applied at a rate of 1/20X at R4 and R5 resulted in 20% and 35% yield reduction for the offspring, respectively. A similar reduction occurred from florpyrauxifen-benzyl applied at R4 and R5 at the 1/20X rate, resulting in 15% to 24% yield reduction for the offspring, respectively. Based on these findings, it is suggested that growers use caution when applying these herbicides in the vicinity of reproductive soybean.

ABSTRACT: Conyza spp. is among the main weeds reported worldwide. Due to its aggressiveness, such as high seed production and dispersion, and the growing reports of biotypes resistant to glyphosate, paraquat, and other herbicides, different control practices are required. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of herbicides with sequential application of glufosinate in soybean pre-sowing for control of Conyza spp. with indicative of resistant to paraquat. The study was carried out in the field, at Assis Chateaubriand and Palotina, state of Paraná, Brazil, in the 2018/19 season. The experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with four replications. The treatments consisted in application of glyphosate, 2,4-D, saflufenacil, glufosinate, saflufenacil/imazethapyr, diclosulam, paraquat/diuron, paraquat and imazethapyr/flumioxazin, at different combinations, in soybean pre-sowing. Control of Conyza spp., crop injury to soybean plants and variables related to agronomic performance (plant height and yield) were evaluated. All treatments were selective for soybean, which showed stronger crop injury in the presence of diclosulam herbicide, but this did not compromise soybean agronomic performance. In general, control levels were high for the treatments used. Except for paraquat treatments, in the area with the highest frequency of Conyza spp. with indicative of resistant to paraquat, and imazethapyr/flumioxazin treatment in both areas. These control results emphasized the importance of glufosinate in this management system and showed promising results for saflufenacil/imazethapyr.

One of the main factors in obtaining consistently high tomato yields is to optimize the plant nutrition area. Determination of the optimal plant density, on the one hand, prevents oppression of plants at increased density. On the other hand, to avoid unnecessary expenses from the irrational use of the cultivated area. Vegetables are one of the main suppliers of biologically active substances necessary for a good human nutrition. They give the body a lot of vitamins, fiber, hemicelluloses, pectin substances, organic acids, various carbohydrates, mineral salts and a number of other biochemical compounds. Tomato is one of the main protected ground crops for Ukraine. Compared to other crops, tomatoes give early and stable yields. The issue of planting density of tomatoes is still not fully resolved, these elements of technology are not adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the eastern part of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. The objective of our research was to determine the optimal crop density of hybrid tomato of indeterminate type in order to obtain the highest yield without reducing the quality of the product. The method of research. The research was carried out during 2018-2019. In film greenhouses, spring-summer crop rotation. The experiments were carried out with an indeterminate tomato hybrid: Tobolsk F1. Producers of seeds of indeterminate hybrids recommend different plant densities for growing conditions in film greenhouses 2.5-3.5 pcs/m2. Therefore, our research was planned to determine the optimal plant density of the indeterminate tomato hybrid Tobolsk F1 for film greenhouses. The total number of plants is 312 pcs. Sowing of seeds was carried out in the third decade of February. The seeds were sown into cassettes, and the seedlings were dived into pots (volume - 500 cm3) on time. Seedlings were grown using bottom irrigation and, at the age of 3-5 true leaves, the seedlings were planted on a test plot in a film greenhouse without heating. Research results. An analysis of phenological observations of plants showed that a change in the density of plants had practically no effect on the timing and rate of passage of the stages of organogenesis in plants, that is, in all variants of the experiment, the phases of development in plants began simultaneously. Indicators of plant parameters indicate that the data obtained both in the phase of mass flowering and mass fruiting of tomatoes differ among themselves. The difference in biometric parameters can be traced depending on the density of plants. Comparing the main biometric indicators, it can be noted that in the flowering phase, the height of plants ranged from 111.0 to 134.9 cm, in the fruiting phase - from 257.0 to 275.8 cm, while the plants differed in height by the density of 4.0 pcs/m2. The vegetative mass of a plant in the flowering phase was from 1884 g with a plant density of 2.5 pcs/m2 to 1144 g with a density of 4.0 pcs/m2. In the phase of flowering fruiting, the weight of the plant ranged from 1704 g to 1574 g, also decreasing with increasing density. In the flowering phase, an increase in the value of the leaf area indicator was observed to 5.8% with an increase in plant density, and in the fruiting phase, a slight decrease in the indicator to -1.8% was observed with an increase in plant density. So, according to biometric indicators, plants develop better with a density of 3.5 pcs/m2: tomato plants have the best indicators of vegetative mass and plant height, the leaf surface area varies within insignificant limits. The size of the fruits and the yield of standard tomato production are in direct proportion to the density of plants, that is, the more of them per unit area, the lower these indicators. In general, the increase in the density of tomato plants significantly affected the yield. Conclusions. Two-year researches have established that with an increase in plant density, in terms of leaf area in tomato plants of the Tobolsk F1 hybrid, on average, there was a slight fluctuation in the indicator at the level of 0.9-1.1%. The indicator of the vegetative mass of the plant ranged from -4.1 to +1.8% as compared to the control, also decreasing with increasing density. The indicator of plant height both in the flowering phase and in the fruiting phase, on the contrary, grew with an increase in plant density and ranged from -4.0 to + 7.1% compared to the control, while the plants differed in height by a density of 4.0 pcs/m2. In general, the studies carried out give grounds to conclude that in a spring film greenhouse, according to biometric indicators, on average, plants develop better with a density of 3.5 pcs/m2: tomato plants have the best ratio of vegetative mass, plant height and leaf area. The maximum yield of tomato hybrid Tobolsk F1 at the level of 15.8 kg/m2 in the eastern part of the Left-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine was obtained with a plant density of 3.5 pcs/m2.

To investigate the effects of trifluralin, chlorimuron and clomazone on morphology and assimilate partitioning during soybean development, plants were grown in a greenhouse and sampled at 14-day intervals. Clomazone reduced stem and leaf dry matter accumulation at 14 days after emergence (DAE), while trifluralin and chlorimuron reduced plant part dry matter accumulation up to 28 DAE. The number of leaves, plant height, mass and number of pods and seeds, and the shoot/root ratio were not influenced by the herbicides. Roots, stems and leaves were the preferred sinks up to the R2 growth stage, while pods and developing seeds became the preferred sinks later. This order was not altered by the herbicides.

The authors showed the results of studies of productivity parameters of different early maturing maise hybrids depending on the method of sowing. Experiment included 5 variants: single- seeded hybrids Kubansky 101 and Kubansky 500, Kubansky 101 + Kubansky 500 (50 + 50% of the full seeding rate), Kubansky 101 + Kubansky 500 (25 + 75%) and Kubansky 101 + Kubansky 500 (75 + 25%). The authors carried out a biological yield survey on 10 September. This recording showed that the ultra-early-ripening hybrid Kubansky 101 CB was in the phase of milk-wax maturity of the grain, and the late-ripening Kubansky 500 CB was in the phase of cob formation. In single-species crops, the yields were naturally higher. The late-maturing hybrid yielded 82.0 t/ha, 38.1 t/ha higher than the ultra-maturing hybrid. However, the dry matter yield of the second hybrid was 15.9 % higher, and the cob yield was 29 % higher. The dry matter concentration of the hybrid Kubansky 500 was only 18.8 %. The hybrid Kubansky 101 CB had a dry matter concentration of 34.7 %. Different variations with the ratio of hybrids of different ripeness groups in the sowing showed that in green matter yield, the variants where the proportion of late-ripening hybrid is higher are superior. Thus, the presence of 75% hybrid Kubansky 500 CB allowed obtaining the highest yield of 77.2 t/ha. This yield is almost two times higher than the yield of the single-variety ultra-ripening hybrid (43.9 t/ha). However, the dry matter concentration here was 20.2 %. According to the biochemical analysis of the silage batches harvested, all the forages were benign. No oily acid was detected, and lactic acid predominated over acetic acid. Hay prepared from hybrid Kubansky 101 SV was 33.8% in dry matter content, which compares favourably with silage prepared from hybrid Kubansky 500 SV and mixtures with Kubansky 101 SV. The hybrid Kubansky 500 SV and mixtures with Kubansky 101 SV accounted for 21 % dry matter content. In silage prepared from hybrid Kubansky 101 SV, the percentage of dry matter is 24.2-25 %.
