The press and social networks constitute the most recurrent platform for debate on the subject of “women and language”. The media discourse on this subject covers many aspects that have not yet been addressed in depth, including the discourse that is generated when the academic dictionary is taken as a point of reference. This article analyses sexism (or not) of some definitions in the dictionary through a press corpus obtained from the Hemeroteca Virtual de las Lenguas de España (HEVILE), which has allowed us, in the first place, to catalogue the words and definitions related to women which have been news in recent years and, therefore, the object of debate; secondly, to verify the beliefs and linguistic attitudes regarding the role of the Academy and its dictionary in society; and, finally, to decide what effects the debate generated (especially through social networks) on the latest changes carried out in some of these definitions.

The article is devoted to the presentation of the model of psychological influence on social media proposed by the authors. The model is based on theoretical approaches aimed at understanding the characteristics of the individual's response to the flow of information in social networks, as well as concepts focused on analyzing the role of a person's social identity and social environment in the impact processes. The elements of the model are described: subject of influence, object of influence, means, effects and context of influence. Four groups of factors of the effectiveness of psychological influence in social media are characterized: characteristics of the subject of influence, features of the means of influence and context of influence, characteristics of the object of influence.

The subject of this research topic is the frameworks and the media representation of the role of women in mass sports events. The case study corresponds to the participation for the first time in the halftime show of the “Super Bowl 2020” of two of the main Latin pop artists: Shakira and Jennifer López. The objective of the study is to characterize the treatment of the event given by the media (both generalist and sports-themed) of the 22 countries that make up Ibero-America together with that on social networks. The assumptions that have guided the research seek to determine whether an objectification of women in the image that is built from the media and on social networks really exists; and whether the frames that occur in both are identical or different. The methodological design includes a content analysis and impact measurement with Big Data technology. The main results and conclusions include the objectification of women in all the generalist media; and 50% in sports-themed media. Similarly, it should be noted that social media reflect the impact of conventional media more than tenfold and most importantly, a change in trend and progress is foreseen in media frameworks with a gender perspective.

The study analyzes the impact of cultural communication on the institutionalization of changes in library, archival and museum affairs in a digital society. Cultural communication is shown as a process of interaction between the subjects of socio-cultural reality in order to transmit or exchange messages. It is emphasized that the media, as an attribute of modern communication, is one of the means of constructing socio-cultural reality. Institutionalization is defined as the process of identifying and consolidating certain norms, rules, statuses and roles and bringing them into a system that is able to adapt to new conditions, challenges, progress and act to meet societal needs. Innovative technologies in the activities of libraries, archives and museums are analyzed. The role of social networks in advertising and information representation of information institutions is considered. The positive and negative sides of mediatization processes are shown. It has been proved that the media carry out one of the most important tasks of preserving and transmitting cultural values to the masses, and the indicator of the maturity of society is the attitude to the monuments of history and culture

The purpose of education is to initiate the young into the different ways in which, over the centuries, men have organized their experience and understanding of the world. This initiation depends upon the ability of teacher to explain and inspire, and on the willingness of the young to engage in this enterprise with a proper humility. The discussion on the role of authority in knowledge development and the subject of lack of teacher's authority is in great tension. The role of the teacher has changed, authority, a fundamental part of the teaching–learning process, is a problematic and questioned by society, the media, parents and students. The objective of this study is to examine the role of ideology in translating news media, and the representation of language in the media. The framing approach and the framing of realities through the process of translation will be examined whereby ‘changes’ are made for ideological purposes in response to the attempts of the group of receptors and to ‘the norms’ of those receptors. The impact of language ideology on translation and the way in which translation serves cultural, political, religious or literary concepts continues to grow nowadays. Ideology is affecting the translation of the source texts in many types of discourses, among them the journalistic discourse which constitutes the subject of this study. How does ideology work? How is ideology conveyed through the translation of news media? What is its role and impact on the target texts? How does ideology influence the choices of translators? These are some of the questions which will be dealt with throughout this paper. The representation of language in media will be also studied with a particular attention to be given to the use of lexical choices that show how ideology appears in the source texts and the target texts, and to the validity and legitimacy of language which carries an ideological stamp. For the purpose of this study, a corpus of online news articles in English highlighting the war in Syria will be used in parallel with the translation of this corpus into Arabic by two opposite media outlets: the pro-regime and the anti-regime.

The article is focused on the role of lexical and prosodic means of expression in the coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic in German political media discourse. As a research task, the authors identified an attempt to assess the dynamics of the image of the coronavirus phenomenon in the media and to identify the conditionality of the use of linguistic units at certain stages of the pandemic. The material for the study was transcripts and audio recordings of plots from leading German news channels in the first half of 2020. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the frequency of the use of lexical units and the correlation of lexical and prosodic means of expression. In the course of linguo-stylistic analysis, the main stylistic means are established, depicting the course of the pandemic and the fight against the virus. The prosodic features of the informants' speech, which are determined in the course of the electroacoustic analysis of statements, are brought into consideration. The impact of COVID-19 on all spheres of public life in Germany and its maximum representation in the media determine the relevance of this study. The novelty of the study is seen in the application of a comprehensive methodology for analyzing expressive means in the speech of informants in the period from January to May 2020.

The chapter intends to discuss how the media logic influences the sphere of the political executive. Drawing from the research perspective of the mediatization of politics the chapter will focus on two aspects: how the press portrays governments and governmental leaders and how political executives adapt to the media logic through a proactive process of self-mediatization. It will offer a review of the theoretical and empirical contributions that may highlight the characteristics and the scope of the mediatization process and will address some issues that might lead to future research developments, including the impact of internet and the increasing role of entertainment media in the political field.

AbstractThe article presents the results of the review of the empirical literature regarding the impact of quantitative easing (QE) on emerging markets (EMs). The subject is of interest to policymakers and researchers due to the increasingly larger role of EMs in the world economy and the large-scale capital flows occurring after 2009. The review is conducted in a systematic manner and takes into consideration different methodological choices, samples and measurement issues. The paper puts the summarized results in the context of transmission channels identified in the literature. There are few distinct methodological approaches present in the literature. While there is a consensus regarding the direction of the impact of QE on EMs, its size and durability have not yet been assessed with sufficient precision. In addition, there are clear gaps in the empirical findings, not least related to relative underrepresentation of the CEE region (in particular, Poland).
