This work aims to identify the level of productivity of Holstein cows of different breedings. The experimental studies were performed using purebred Holstein animals imported from Germany, Hungary, and Finland. When studying the exterior-constitutional features of livestock raised on the farm, it was found that Holstein cows as a whole were characterized by a relatively strong constitution, a proportionally developed and slightly elongated body with average live weight, deep chests with well-defined milk veins, glandular and properly attached bath-like and cup-shaped udder, with an average intensity of milk yield (2.12-2.4 kg/min). According to the expressiveness of dairy forms, the best indicators were for animals of Hungarian breeding with the linear affiliation of Reflection Sovering, and in cows of German and Finnish breedings - Montwik Chieftain. A study of the dairy productivity of cows showed that the greatest milk yield over 305 days for three lactations, depending on the linear affiliation, was for Hungarian cows: during the 1st lactation - 6465.9- 6951.2 kg, the 2nd lactation - 7463.5-7706.2 kg, according to the 3rd lactation - 8254.2-8297.7 kg of milk. A comparative evaluation of the dairy production of cows showed that the highest dairy productivity was noted in cows of the Reflection Sovering line. Thus, the average milk yield in cows of this line in the first three lactations was higher than in analogs of the Finnish breeding by 885 kg (13.02%) and German one - by 892 kg or 13.1% (P<0.05), Vis Beck Ideal by 444.5 kg (6.2%) and 807 kg or 12.0% (P<0.01) respectively. The animals of the Montwik Chieftain line of the Hungarian breeding exceeded in the milk yield of the German cows by 176.5 kg (2.4%) and the Finnish cows by 238.2 kg or 3.3%. Indicators of the coefficient of variation in milk yield show that the herd of Holstein cows in the first and third lactations is very heterogeneous. According to the second lactation, the representatives of the Vis Beck Ideal line of the German selection and the Montwik. It was established that in the coefficient of consistency of lactation, cows of German breeding exceeded the analogs of the Finnish and Hungarian breedings by 4.7 and 6.7%, respectively. Herewith, in the Hungarian cows, the lactation full value indicator was higher by 18.3% and 1%, which indicates higher stability of milk yield of cows of this group for the entire lactation. In such a way, our analysis of the morphofunctional properties of the udder showed that the investigated groups of animals correspond to the technological requirements for industrial keeping technology and organizing machine milking.

Presented study results of the productivity of mixed-aged cows with prolonged lactation. The formation of experimental groups was carried out according to the principle of analog groups, taking into account breed, live weight, age and physiological condition (lactation):25 animals in groups I, II, III and IV and 10 animals in group V. It was found that with the industrial technology of Holstein cows exploitation, regardless of their age, the duration of the lactation period was almost twice as long as the scientifically substantiated value and ranges from 561.2 to 610.9 days. At the same time, the milk productivity level of the cows in I and IV groups slightly exceeded 13 000 kg of milk per lactation, while in cows if II, III (control), and V groups – this value was higher than 15 000 kg. With prolonged lactation, the milk yield in the experimental groups of animals in terms of 305 days was kept at a fairly high level and there was a definite tendency to an increase in milk yield depending on the age of the animals. The first-calf heifers of group I were characterized by a relatively low milk yield since they gave only 13 291.8 kg of milk for the entire lactation, and in terms of 305 days – 7 944.1 kg, which was 13.57% and compared to III (control) group was 19.54% lower (P < 0.01). Animals of the fifth lactation from group V had the highest milk yield, in which the milk yield per lactation and per 305 days amounted to 15 818.5 kg and 9 716.7 kg of milk, respectively. With intensive exploitation technology and with the increasing age of Holstein cows, complete adaptation occurs, as a result of which their genetic potential for milk production is realized at a high level. This was indicated by the milk yield dynamics in experimental animals of different ages, in which, under the same conditions of feeding and housing, they were gradually increased from the first to the fifth lactation.

The article presents assessment results of red-and-white breed lines on milk productivity, live weight and intensity of milk yield. It was found that almost all the descendants of the bulls belonging to the lines of V.B. Ideal 1014315, M. Chieftain 95679, R. Sovering 198998, R. Citation 267150 are characterized by high milk yield. The only exception was the daughters of the bulls from R. Sovering 198998 line, who were inferior to their peers in milk yield by 225-250 kg (4.1-4.5%) during 305 - day lactation. There were no significant interline differences in the content of fat and protein in milk. It was found that positive results were obtained from crosses of V.B. Ideal × M. Chieftain (+204 kg of milk), M. Chieftain × V.B. Ideal (+300 kg), M. Chieftain × R. Sovering (+185 kg), R. Sovering × R. Sheilimar. Intraline selection on milk yield in all cases was ineffective. Assessment of servicing bulls of V.B. Ideal line showed that the improvers of the daughters’ milk yield are the bulls Kumir 1242 (+283 kg to their peers), Leonardo 218 (+244 kg), Jul 43 (+143 kg). Bulls Clemens 12700 (- 201 kg) and Furgon 1268 (- 679 kg) were recognized as deteriorating the milk yield. As for R. Sovering line, the bulls Service 101 (+403 kg) and Mills 284 (+263 kg) are the milk yield improvers, and the bull Berkut 3473 (+0.38%) improves fat content of milk of the daughters.

The aim of this manual is to improve the welfare of dairy cattle in tropical developing countries, and by doing so, optimise cow and herd performance. It gives the stockmen and farmers directly concerned with the cattle a better understanding of animal behaviour and the ways cattle communicate their comfort or distress. The book discusses normal cattle behaviour and shows how domestication and breeding can affect behaviour to achieve high levels of production of milk, live weight gain and fertility. Animal welfare is important for producers because it can affect the health, production and contentment of cows. Animal welfare practices which adversely affect cow and herd performance on tropical small holder dairy farms are identified. Advice is then given to change the animal's environment or modify a handler's technique to ensure cattle have the degree of comfort needed to achieve more profitable and sustainable systems of livestock farming. Cow Talk will be a beneficial resource for farmers who want to improve animal welfare, farm advisers who can assist farmers to improve their welfare practices, educators who develop training programs for farmers and dairy advisers, and other stakeholders in tropical dairy production such as local agribusiness, policy makers and research scientists.

A related Holstein breed has recently been used to improve domestic dairy cattle and create highly productive herds by purchasing semen from breeding bulls, as well as a large number of heifers and calves of foreign breeding. The purpose of the work is a comparative assessment of the productive qualities of Black Pied and Holstein cows of foreign breeding. Purebred Holstein cows differ from animals of Black Pied breed in milk yield per lactation. Cows of both breeds have fairly high suitability for machine milking. The priority remains with the animals of the Holstein breed of foreign selection. In terms of milking intensity and udder volume, they reliably surpass Black Pied cows at P≤0.05 - P≤0.01, respectively, in terms of indicators. Holstein cows were also the best in the udder index. Correlation coefficients between the productive qualities, as well as between the quantitative indicator of productivity and the qualitative indicators of the suitability of cows for machine milking, were the same or did not differ significantly. A positive correlation was established between milk yield and the duration of the service period from 0.1 to 0.05, depending on the breed.

Purpose. Improving the efficiency of the process of machine milking cows by improving the accuracy of determining the intensity of milk production and individual milking milk yield on the basis of a portion counter weight. Methods. Experimental studies were conducted on the basis of methods of planned experiment on the basis of a laboratory stand of the department of biotechnical systems in animal husbandry and feedstock of NSC “IAEE”. The data obtained were processed using the methods of mathematical statistics and regression analysis. Results. The relationship between the milk production rate and the actual weight of a portion of milk measured by a batch counter was experimentally established. According to the results of the researches, an advanced control unit for milking equipment on the Arduino element base was created, which adjusts the readings of a portion counter of weight type according to the actual intensity of milk production and provides adaptive change of the working vacuum pressure in the collector of the milking machine. Conclusions. An advanced control unit for milking machines has been developed, which allows to reduce the error of measuring milk yield from 12% to 4.9% to estimate the value of instant milk production with an accuracy of 5.7%. Keywords: adaptive milking equipment, milking machine, machine milking.

Studies have revealed that despite the selection, the Holstein cows have a high genetic potential of milk production and in all lactations it is good in the specific conditions of the hot climate of Uzbekistan. The milk production level of German cows for the first lactation was 6511.2 kg of milk with a fat content of 3.84%, the Dutch — 6653.0 kg with fat content of 3.95%, and local breed — 6495.2 kg with a fat content of 3.95%. All mature cows retained high milk production, for III lactation and older it was 7112.5 kg and 3.90%, 7266.0 kg and 3.90%, 6847.5 kg and 3.94%, respectively. The yield of Dutch breeding cows was higher for 1 lactation by 141.80–157.8 kg, for III lactation and older by 153.5–418.5 kg, the yield of milk fat by 12.8–6.3 kg, respectively, of indicators peers of German and local selection. The cows of the studied selections combined well with high milk yield and fat content. The level of 4% milk for the studied lactation in all cows was quite high and testified to its good nutritional value. Holstein cows of different breeds are distinguished by a strong dairy type. For I lactation, for every 100 kg of live weight, 1,159.0–1265.5 kg of milk was produced, for III lactation and older - 1200.0–1308.6 kg. It is revealed that milk productivity depends on the level of live weight of cows. The increase in body weight of cows in all groups provides an increase in milk yield, milk fat yield, milk yield of 4% milk. Milk productivity is interrelated with the duration of the service period. In group I, cows with a service period of 91–100 days were more productive, in group II, 81–90 and in group III, up to 80 days. The use of Holstein cows for the production of milk is effective and ensures an increase in its production, the creation of highly productive dairy herds and the production of high-quality maintenance stock. There are shown data on the impact of live weight of Holstein cows on the duration and effectiveness of their lifetime use during the period of breeding. It was established that the animals which are not reached to the body breed standard of their weight at some period of age had lower rates and duration of lifetime use and productivity. Animals with live weight at 6 months – 181–220, 12 months – 311–340, 18 months – 411–440, at the first insemination – 411–440 and at first calving – 511–540 kg had the longest life duration, productive use, quantity of lactations during all life and highest lifetime productivity. The highest positive correlation coefficients were established between body weight of cows at different periods of their growth (exception – live weight at first calving) and lifetime milk yield (r = 0.072–0.106), the average lifetime fat milk (r = 0.062–0.126), lifetime quantity of milk fat (r = 0.077–0.112), milk yield per day of life (r = 0.077–0.165) and productive use (r = 0.077–0.112). These links were much weaker between live weight and life duration in the studied ages of animals (r = -0.009 – +0.062), productive use (r=-0.125 – +0.094), lactation (r = -0.093 – +0.038) and the number of lactations during life (r = -0.134 – +0.029). The lowest correlation coefficients were between body weight at first calving of cows and the studied parameters of duration and effectiveness of their lifelong use. The impact of the live weight of animals during growing period on the duration of their economic use was the highest (23.34–31,30%), the number of lactations for life (13.79–28.08%), lifetime milk yield (11.89–15.68%) and lifetime amount of milk fat (11.42–15.16%).
