Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah cenderung mengabaikan pengajaran listening (menyimak) dibandingkan keterampilan berbahasa lainnya. Padahal keterampilan ini sangat diperlukan sebagai kunci penguasaan keterampilan berbahasa lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan alternatif media audio pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk keterampilan menyimak yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan belajar. Masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini terkait dengan rendahnya kemampuan menyimak yang dikuasai siswa dan keterbatasan bahan belajar bahasa Inggris untuk pembelajaran listening yang sesuai dengan kurikulum 2013. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitan ini adalah pendekatan model ADDIE yang meliputi lima tahapan yaitu analisis, desain, produksi, implemensi, dan evaluasi. Setelah melalui tahap analisis kebutuhan dan analisis kurikulum, desain model ditentukan dan diberi nama Smart English Today (SET). Tahap berikutnya yaitu penyusunan rancangan media yang diikuti dengan proses produksi yang meliputi penyusunan GBIM JM, penulisan naskah dan bahan penyerta, serta produksi program. Hasil pengembangan produksi selanjutnya diimplementasikan pada siswa SMPN 5 Ngawen, Gunungkidul. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa SET layak dipergunakan sebagai bahan belajar bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menyimak. Namun, dalam pengembangannya hendaknya perlu diperhatikan dari sisi pengemasan program, durasi, dan tingkat kesulitan materi.English learning at school tends to ignore listening skill teaching, compared to other language skills. In fact, listening skill is highly necessary as key factors to other language skill mastery. The objective of this research is to develop an audio media alternative of English learning for lsitening skill that can be utilized learning material. The problems of this research are related with students’ low listening skill and limited English learning material for listening skill being in line with 2013 curriculum. The approach of this research is ADDIE model approach, consisting of five steps, i.e. analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating. After passing through need and curriculum analysis, model design is determined and named Smart English Today (SET). The next step is development comprising of GBIM JM writing, script and companion book writing, and program production. The SET product is, then, implemented to students of SMPN 5 Ngawen, Gunung Kidul. The evaluation result shows that SET is feasible to be utilized as English learning material to enhance students’ listening skill. However, in developing this model, we should consider program packaging, duration, and difficulty levels of the materials.

describe the implementation of an integrated quality management component consisting of the quality of services provided by the school, human resources in teaching, the school environment, and learning process  in SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang.               The method used in this study, namely by using a naturalistic qualitative approach. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study include the principal, teachers, employees, and students. The validity of the data is done by triangulation, and deeper observation. Analysis of the data used is the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.              The results showed that: (a) the quality of services to students in SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang had met good service standards. This can be seen from the services in the form of facilities and infrastructure which are quite complete in schools; (b) the quality of human resources in the education process shows good teacher resources. This can be seen from the teacher data which shows that the teaching staff at SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang 95% of educators with S1 qualifications in the field of education; (c) the quality of the environment in SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang is already good. This can be seen from the very strategic location of the school because the location of the school is in the middle of the city so that it is easily accessible by the community; (d) the quality of the learning process carried out by teachers at Pangkal Pinang YPAC SLB is good. This can be seen from the realization of the form of activities through learning planning by preparing lesson plans for each subject, then implementing learning, which includes strategies and methods used by teachers in delivering learning material, and evaluation of learning. Keywords: Integrated quality management, student achievement     ABSTRAK Tujuan dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini  adalah untuk melihat pelaksanaan serta mendeskripsikan implementasi  komponen Manajemen Mutu Terpadu yang terdiri dari kualitas layanan yang diberikan sekolah, sumber daya manusia dalam mengajar, lingkungan sekolah, dan proses pembelajaran di SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yaitu dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif naturalistik. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subyek penelitian ini antara lain kepala sekolah, guru, pegawai, dan peserta didik. keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi, dan pengamatan yang lebih mendalam. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah model analisis interaktif Miles dan Huberman melalui kegiatan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (a) mutu layanan terhadap peserta didik di SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang sudah memenuhi standar layanan yang baik. Hal ini dilihat dari layanan yang berupa fasilitas sarana dan prasarana yang sudah cukup lengkap di sekolah; (b) mutu sumber daya manusia dalam proses pendidikan menunjukkan sumber daya guru yang baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari data guru yang menunjukkan bahwa tenaga pengajar di SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang 95% pendidik berkualifikasi S1 bidang kependidikan; (c) mutu lingkungan yang ada di SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang sudah baik. Hal ini terlihat dari letak sekolah yang sangat strategis karena lokasi sekolah yang berada di tengah kota sehingga mudah dijangkau oleh masyarakat; (d) mutu proses pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru di SLB YPAC Pangkalpinang sudah baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari realisasi bentuk kegiatan melalui perencanaan pembelajaran dengan menyusun RPP setiap mata pelajaran, kemudian pelaksanaan pembelajaran, yang meliputi strategi dan metode yang digunakan guru dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran, dan evaluasi pembelajaran.

Needs Analysis in the context of language-learning-teaching is an important process to design a certain course and syllabus. It helps course designers to set objectives, choose content, method of instruction, appropriate teaching aids, and classroom activities for different courses. This paper reports the perceptions of the researchers on the English language learning needs of the English undergraduate students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal, Pakistan. The data is based on the researchers’ personal experience and first-hand observation of the population as the researchers have been teaching in the target context for about a decade. Furthermore, the researchers have always been in discussion with their students and colleagues about the target students’ English learning needs, preferred learning styles, motivation in learning English, interest, strengths/weaknesses, and attitude toward English learning in the target setting. Learners’ assignments, exam answer sheets, and presentations have also been used is a source of data collection. A needs analysis model proposed by Hutchinson and Waters (1987) has been applied in order to analyze the data. The results show that the students lack well grammatical sentences, have poor spellings, capitalization problems, limited vocabulary, unaware of collocations, poor/slow reading comprehension, and lack of effective presentation skills. Furthermore, most of the students have a lack of involvement in classroom activities and feel shy about speaking the English language. It was reported that the provision of authentic material, interesting activities, suitable audio-visual aids, relevant texts, language labs, and other logistic arrangements can better help them in learning the English language. The findings demonstrate that the students wished to have a learner-centered-course that helps them excel in their academic life and learning the English language.

Radar EW system combat effectiveness evaluation is a essential link to Radar system Demonstration, mainly give service to selection, optimization and key factors analysis of Weapon equipment scheme. In this paper, we introduce the Bayesian network model into the area of Radar EW system combat effectiveness evaluation and put forward the concept of combat effectiveness evaluation model based on Bayesian network. The ability to express complex relationship, the ability to express the uncertainty of probability, and the reasoning functions. By learning from Expertise and Simulation data, excavating the hidden knowledge included in both of them, we can build the combat efficiency Analysis model, and then carry out efficient analysis.

Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian pengembangan ( R & D ) yang bertujuan : (1) Mendesain model pembelajaran Teaching Factory yang valid dan efektif untuk meningkatkan kecakapan vokasional Merencana dan Menginstalasi Sistem Audio. (2) Mengetahui tingkat kevalidan dan kelayakan model pembelajaran Teaching Factory, (3) mengetahui tingkat keefektifan model pembelajaran Teaching Factory. Penelitian dilakukan dengan empat tahapan yaitu analisis pendahuluan, mendesain model, validasi dan evaluasi serta hasil produk akhir dengan menggunakan one group pretest postest control design. Subjek peneliti SMKN 1 Ampelgading Pemalang. Sumber data untuk kevalidan model dilakukan dengan metode angket. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen kevalidan yang terdiri dari desain model, silabus, RPP, bahan ajar dan instrumen evaluasi. Data untuk keefektifan diambil dari aspek soft skill hard skill dan environment skill selama proses pembelajaran. Metoda pengumpulan data yang digunakan meliputi lembar penilaian soft skill hard skill dan environment skill. Sedangkan analisis data menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabelitas, uji daya beda, uji tingkat kesukaran, uji t dan uji z. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskritif diketahui bahwa model pembelajaran Teaching Factory Merencana dan Menginstalasi sistem Audio telah dinyatakan valid dan layak oleh pakar ahli untuk digunakan. Peningkatan kemampuan soft skill pada Teaching Factory dilakukan dengan lembar observasi tahap I dan II dan dianalisis dengan N Gain, hasilnya terdapat peningkatan secara klasikal 28,21 % dengan N Gain 56,4 % kategori sedang. Dalam hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Teaching Factory efektif untuk meningkatkan kecakapan vokasional Merencana dan Menginstalasi Sistem Audio. This research includes research development (R & D) that aims: (1) Designing Teaching Factory model that is valid and effective for improving vocational skills Planning and Installing Audio Systems. (2) To know the level of validity and feasibility of Teaching Factory learning model, (3) to know the effectiveness level of Teaching Factory learning model. The research was conducted with four stages: preliminary analysis, model design, validation and evaluation, and final product result by using one group pretest postest control design. Subject of researcher SMKN 1 Ampelgading Pemalang. The data source for the validity of the model is done by questionnaire method. The instrument used is a validation instrument consisting of model design, syllabus, RPP, teaching materials and evaluation instruments. The data for for effectiveness is taken from the aspects of hard skills skill and environmental skill during the learning process. The data collection methods used include hard skill soft skill and environmental skill score sheets. While the data analysis using validity test, reliability test, different power test, difficulty test, t test and z test. The purpose of this research paper is to look into the current situation of using learning strategies and the key factors that influence English learning strategies of tertiary students who major in economics at Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City. On the basis of Oxford’s (1990) theory on language learning strategies, the study conducted a questionnaire survey with the participation of 300 students. The results show that economics-majored students use English learning strategies at a relatively high frequency, with the metacognitive strategies group having the highest frequency; the groups of affective strategies and compensation strategies have the lowest frequency of use. It also draws a conlusion that individual factors such as gender, grade level, and major do not appear to have a significant impact on students' use of English learning strategies. There are no significant differences between male and female students, between students of all grades, and between students of different majors in the frequency of using English learning strategies.

This paper aims to analyze the transitivity patterns used in one of the most prominent short stories in Philippine Contemporary Literature “The Wedding Dance” which was written by a renowned writer Amador T. Daguio. This study is based on Halliday’s framework of transitivity analysis to delve on the meaning of the story in the literary discourse. This paper used the simple random sampling among the short stories in the Grade 7 English Learning Material from the Department of Education. In addition, the story is divided into three parts according to the number of sentences. Subsequently, part of the story has been identified and selected as basis for the analysis through random selection process. Furthermore, the paper used all 15 sentences from the first portion of the short story to be analyzed and interpreted using the functional stylistics. Analyzing and interpreting a portion of the short story in the context of functional stylistics played an integral part for it provided a portion of in depth understanding and interpretation of how each process type works and functions. It is also evident that the distribution of process type varies in different yet meaningful ways. Thus, by examining the transitivity process in the text is indeed indispensable for it explained how the field of the situation is being constructed, and have clear idea how transitivity patterns reflected the nature of the text.

Abstract: The purpose of this development is to develop podcast media in Mandarin learning that focuses on listening skill of Chinese Language Education Study Program students 2019, State University of Malang.The development model used is the ADDIE model with five development stages, including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The media developed by the researcher of this present study has been validated by media experts and material experts and tested on the 2019 Chinese language education study program students who take Listening 1. Development data were obtained from validation questionnaires for media experts and material experts, observation sheets, and questionnaires for the student. The results showed that the use of this podcast media helps in improving students' listening skill and also explains vocabulary in easy-to-understand podcast media. In addition, this podcast media is suitable to be used as a learning resource in improving students' listening skill. Based on the above discussion, it can be concluded that this podcast media can be used to practice Chinese listening skills. Model penelitian dan pengembangan yang peneliti gunakan adalah model ADDIE yang berisi lima tahapan pengembangan, yaitu tahap analisis, tahap perancangan, tahap pengembangan, tahap implementasi, dan tahap evaluasi. Media yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti telah divalidasikan kepada ahli media dan ahli materi, serta telah melalui uji coba pada mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin angkatan 2019 yang mengambil mata kuliah Menyimak 1. Data pengembangan didapatkan dari lembar angket validasi ahli media dan ahli materi, lembar observasi, dan lembar angket mahasiswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media podcast yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti membantu dalam meningkatkan keterampilan Menyimak mahasiswa dan juga penjelasan kosakata dalam media podcast yang mudah dipahami. Selain itu media yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti sudah sesuai untuk digunakan sebagai sumber belajar dalam meningkatkan keterampilan Menyimak mahasiswa.  Berdasarkan pembahasan di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media podcast yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti dapat digunakan untuk melatih keterampilan Menyimak bahasa Mandarin. The Given

As a medium of instruction, English does not easily develop in Indonesia. It is even becoming a problem in communication where many parties are not interested to use it in communication. On the contrary, world of Industries really demand the workers to be able to speak and write in English well. SMA DEK as one of the private school that its graduated students directly work in companies after graduation answers the problem. It provides its students with various English program such as english day, English zone, learning TOEFL and English Proficiency. By considering the quality of the students, these programs are expected running well. Emphasizing listening skill is the main purpose because it is the most activity used by students during English learning. So that, observation method, testing method and discussion method are implemented in order to find out the student qualification to answer the challenge. From the community service implementation, it is found that the students have been good on listening skill understanding. During the participant observation, they make and answer the question freely. While implementing the listening TOEFL test, they can answer the questions well and when the discussion method comes, they argue about the correct answer by giving their own reason. It finally concludes that, by learning the Listening TOEFL test, SMA DEK students are motivated to speak freely and give comment toward the given information.

This research aims at designing a learning media which named LEEF (Learning English Easy and Fun) as English learning media for seventh grade students of Junior High School. This learning media consists of some materials and exercises which is appropriate and feasible to be studied for students. All materials in this media are based on junior high school syllabus of K13 curriculum. The research method used in this research is Research and Development. This development used ADDIE model which have several steps, those are; 1) Analysis, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation, and 5) Evaluation. The result of this research shows that from the media validation result got 4.00 score it was in “fair and worth to use” category, and the material validation got 3.86 score. The students’ responses of try out result score 4.26 were in “fair and worth to use” category. By having those result, this LEEF (Learning English Easy and Fun) is feasible to be used as a learning media for seventh grade students of junior high school. Furthermore this research can be used as reference to other researchers in developing English learning media in different level of students.

Abstract The increasing role of English in this era of globalization seems to force us to recognize that English has a great impact on all aspects of life, so learning the English language is a must. Previously, studying English at Indonesian universities was limited to General English or English General Purposes, which became general subjects. However, over time, learning English has been developed specifically for English for Specific Purposes. This study is intended to show how the use of English learning at universities, especially in vocational education, works. In this study, the literature study was chosen as the research method. The literature study shows that the use of General English and English for Specific Purposes in higher education is very different. Where there is no special learning material for teaching General English. The learning material usually contains general knowledge of English. Unlike English for Specific Purposes, where teaching English for Specific Purposes requires special materials that are tailored to the needs of students depending on the subject. Sebelumnya di Indonesia, pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di perguruan tinggi hanya sebatas General English atau English for General Purposes yang menjadi mata kuliah umum, namun seiring berjalannya waktu pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dikembangkan lagi secara khusus dalam mata kuliah English for Specific Purposes. Studi ini memiliki tujuan untuk melihat bagaimana penerapan kedua pembelajaran bahasa Inggris tersebut di perguruan tinggi khususnya pada pendidikan vokasi. Studi pustaka dipilih sebagai metode penelitian dalam studi ini. Dari studi kepustakaan tersebut diperoleh hasil bahwa penerapan General English dan English for Specific Purposes di perguruan tinggi sangatlah berbeda antara keduanya. Dimana tidak ada materi pembelajaran khusus terhadap pengajaran General English. Materi pembelajaran biasanya berisikan pengetahuan umum tentang bahasa Inggris. Beda halnya dengan English for Specific Purposes, dimana dalam pengajaran English for Specific Purpose, dibutuhkan materi khusus yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dari mahasiswa sesuai dengan bidang yang mereka ambil.
