The problem and the aim of the study. The modern epidemiological situations, the format of distance interaction determine the importance of including digital technologies in teaching a foreign language. The problems of obtaining the practice of oral foreign language communication, studying the norms of vocabulary, grammar and mechanisms of word formation are topical. The authors investigate the conditions for the effective use of mobile applications for formation of foreign language competences of students with purposeful integration of work using m-learning technologies into the educational process of the university. Research methods. The theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific literature on m-learning, problems of teaching a foreign language in the online format are applied. The research methodology is based on the principles of task-based learning. The provisions of the communicative-activity approach were taken into account when integrating mobile applications into the subject-subject scheme of foreign language communication. The empirical methods were used (testing, analysis of the results of work with mobile applications and MS Teams). The study involved 97 first-year students of the training program 44.03.05 Pedagogical education, two educational program specializations (training level – bachelor's degree) of Vyatka State University. In the experiment, the Fisher criterion was used to process the results. Results. The students of the experimental group were involved in the cognitive activity with mobile applications within the framework of the specially designed module, group interaction over a project, educational practice, professional self-presentation and intercultural foreign language communication. Statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in terms of the level of foreign language competence φCRIT = 1.64 <φEMP = 2.418 were revealed. In conclusion the conditions under which the use of mobile applications for the formation of foreign language competences of students will be as effective as possible are summarized: the purposeful nature of work with m-learning technologies; collaboration of teachers of related disciplines; active participation of students at all stages of choosing and using a mobile application; creation of cases of mobile resources.

В статье проанализированы современные методы преподавания иностранного языка и обоснована целесообразность их использования в технических учреждениях высшего образования. Процесс преподавания английского языка в неязыковых высших учебных заведениях имеет определенные особенности, связанные с разным начальным уровнем языковой подготовки первокурсников; количеством академических часов, отведенных на изучение этой дисциплины; количественным составом групп; низкой мотивацией к освоению иностранного языка. Отмечено, что в учебном процессе важную роль играет мотивация, формирование которой у студентов технических вузах должно быть одной из основных задач учебно-воспитательного процесса. Установлено, что значительно повысить результативность занятия можно при условии профессионально ориентированного наполнения содержания дисциплины "иностранный язык" в технических вузах. Выяснено, что применение интерактивных технологий обучения предусматривает обращение к коммуникативному, в частности когнитивно-коммуникативному, и конструктивистского методов преподавания иностранного языка. Доказано, что использование инновационных подходов к преподаванию английского языка и мультимедийных средств обучения дает возможность студентам повысить мотивацию к изучению иностранных языков, обеспечить доступ к новым, альтернативным источникам информации, развить самостоятельную умственную деятельность, сформировать коммуникативные навыки, культурную и профессиональную компетентность. The article analyzes modern methods of teaching a foreign language and justifies the expediency of their use in technical institutions of higher education. The process of teaching English in non-linguistic higher educational institutions has certain features related to the different initial level of language training of first-year students; the number of academic hours allocated to the study of this discipline; the quantitative composition of groups; low motivation to learn a foreign language. It is noted that motivation plays an important role in the educational process, the formation of which among students of technical universities should be one of the main tasks of the educational process. It is established that it is possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of the lesson provided that the content of the discipline "foreign language" is professionally oriented in technical universities. It is found that the use of interactive learning technologies involves the use of communicative, in particular cognitive-communicative, and constructivist methods of teaching a foreign language. It is proved that the use of innovative approaches to teaching English and multimedia teaching tools allows students to increase motivation to learn foreign languages, provide access to new, alternative sources of information, develop independent mental activity, form communication skills, cultural and professional competence.

Introduction. The present study identifies the reasons for choosing teaching methods to prepare students majoring in engineering for professional foreign language communication and presents specific teaching methods. The scientific novelty of this paper is the selection of criteria for choosing the methods to shape the readiness of future engineers for professional foreign language communication, correlated with the readiness components. The theoretical significance lies in the expansion of the understanding of shaping the readiness for professional foreign language communication through a reasonable choice of methods correlated with the components of the studied phenomenon. The practical value of the research is in the use of the specific teaching methods in the educational process to shape the readiness of undergraduates majoring in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production” at the Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk). The findings can be applied in teaching a foreign language to students of various specialties. Materials and methods. General theoretical methods employed to achieve the research goal are an analysis of regulatory information; comparative analysis of teaching methods; analysis and synthesis; and reflexive-evaluative procedures, which justify the choice of teaching methods in accordance with the set goal. The research materials are psychological and pedagogical sources, including scientific papers, dissertations, monographs, etc. Research results. The requirements for the choice of teaching methods are supplemented by the requirement for the communication with a focus on the studied readiness for professional foreign language communication, the need to increase motivation and the ability to get a specific visible result. The study proves that the readiness for foreign language communication in future professional activities can be effectively achieved using active teaching methods, in particular, brainstorming, case method, and game technologies. These methods consider the communicative nature of the phenomenon shaped and the professional context in its implementation when teaching English to undergraduates majoring in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production” at the Siberian Federal University (Krasnoyarsk). The practical application of the game-based method in the scenario of lessons and its expected results are presented. Conclusions. The research examines one of the pedagogical conditions related to the choice of a teaching method that allows involving students in cognitive activity in a professionally oriented educational environment. The grounds for the choice of teaching methods that shape the readiness of future engineers for professional foreign language communication are indicated. The methods for the productive preparation of students for professional foreign language communication are selected in accordance with the requirements of the competency-based and the activity-based approaches. Three active teaching methods have been identified to achieve this goal within the educational process of students specializing in “Mechanical Engineering: Welding Production.” These are brainstorming, case study method, and game methods. The practical application of the research results is relevant in the context of teaching a foreign language to students majoring in various disciplines. In the system of foreign language education in Kazakhstan,English is a priority at all levels of education. English is the language which is chosen by parents as a foreign for their children in preschool age. This article is devoted to the study of the status and current issues of teaching English in Kazakhstan. It is based on the results of a practical survey of eighth grade students of some secondary schools, as well as on observation of the educational process. During a visit to English classes and after conversations with school teachers, the problematic aspects of the learning process were identified. The article provides an overview of modern methods and principles of classes’ organization, contains recommendations for solving theidentified problems. The authors of the article also tried to find out the desire of students to learn not only English, but also other foreign languages, because according to the state regulatory documents, students at school have the right to choose a foreign language, which they want tolearn. The desire to communicate in a foreign language, readiness for foreign language communication, the role ofEnglish language in the student’s life, the main activities in foreign language lessons were some of the key issues, that were considered in this scientific work.

The present article considers the results of implementing the distance learning technologies at Vinnytsia National Pirogov Memorial Medical University in the process of mastering the discipline "Internal Medicine". Today, the amount of information that is so necessary for obtaining, understanding and mastering knowledge is growing rapidly. Given the current pace of development of education, today it is quite important to find innovative forms of quality organization of the educational process. This led to the introduction of information technology in education and the formation of a separate type of learning - distance learning. Now in Ukraine, distance learning is widely developing at all levels of education, this makes it possible to individualize the process of acquiring knowledge, abilities, skills and methods of human cognitive activity, which occurs mainly through the indirect interaction of participants in the educational process distant from each other in a specialized environment, functioning based on modern information and communication technologies.

The article reviews the main reasons for the growth of the role of a «foreign language» discipline within the framework of non-linguistic specialties as part of the process of gradual reformation of the higher education system in Ukraine. The author addresses the search for effective concepts for the integration of professional training and teaching foreign languages for future highly qualified specialists in non-linguistic universities, which are reflected in strategic government documents. The main innovative methods of teaching a foreign language, conditions for their effective application in the educational process of higher educational institutions along with their teaching and educational potential are analyzed. Amongst the innovative methods of teaching students a foreign language, the author highlighted the following: training modules that ensure the development of the fluency of students' speech, as well as their confident communication in a foreign language; case technologies that make it possible to use practical life situations for learning; binary classes allowing the integration of subjects, interest and students` motivation. Educators and students have the opportunity to use the Internet and computer technology to increase the efficiency of the process of learning foreign languages in university courses. A great tool for learning foreign languages are mobile applications and Internet platforms that use authentic materials. Students and teachers have access to audio and video materials created by native speakers who are also teachers. Mobile applications allow you to independently create test tasks, surveys and a variety of games and involve a large number of students.

<p class="0abstract">The higher education system around the world is being rapidly developed towards digitalization – from computers to laptops, from laptops to tablets and smartphones. Accordingly, traditional delivery of instruction is being shifted towards blended learning that is being gradually replaced with distance learning, i.e. higher education is moving forward with mobile learning (m-learning) technologies. The introduction of mobile learning became the most topical event in 2020 in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, due to which many countries had to completely move to distance learning in higher education. The purpose of the study is to analyze the prospects for the widespread use of mobile applications in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) in Russia to Russian and Arab learners. In the course of the study, an online survey based on a questionnaire consisting of four open and closed questions was conducted. An empirical method was applied to collect the research data.  The survey was conducted at the Department of Foreign Languages of the Engineering Academy of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (EA PFUR). The total research sample included 200 participants and consisted of: 50 potential employers, 50 Russian and Arab students of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia studying Linguistics (training program code 035700), 50 faculty members, namely teachers of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, the Institute of Foreign Languages of the Moscow State Pedagogical University and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, as well as 50 administrative staff of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. The purpose of the survey was to collect information about the use of mobile applications (Smartphone Apps) and the introduction of mobile learning technology (m-learning) in the process of teaching EFL to students. According to the results of the survey, instructors are actively using mobile technologies in their professional activities and all participants in the learning process are receptive to their introduction in education. At the same time, respondents believe that technical challenges are the major obstacle to the adoption of mobile applications; these problems must be overcome in order to enable more productive use of mobile applications. In this regard, the study of mobile applications that are suitable for specific aspects of learning a foreign language, such as spoken language, reading comprehension, listening or writing, can be considered a promising research area.</p>

This paper examines the peculiarities of teaching German as a second foreign language in a railway university. The analysis emphasizes the inefficiency of traditional methods and the success of the bilingual approach, which consists in a harmonious combination of methodological principles of teaching the first and second foreign languages. The authors carry out a theoretical analysis of the fundamental principles of teaching a second foreign language: a comparative approach, the principle of reliance on the first foreign and native languages, an autonomous approach, a cognitive principle. The paper deals with the issues related to interference and transfer in teaching a second foreign language. Project methods (simulation, presentation speech, Lapbook-technology) tested by the author in the learning process are offered as learning technologies, the use of which facilitates effective mastering of foreign language skills and abilities. The syllabus of the course A Second Foreign language developed by teachers of the Rostov State Transport University in accordance with the new edition of the Federal State Educational Standard is analyzed. The conclusion is made that this syllabus satisfies the requirements put forward by methodologists to the process of teaching a second foreign language. The analysis of the organization of the educational process with the use of textbooks and a fund of assessment tools prepared for the course is expected to be the subject of our further research.

Modern methods of active learning are reflected in one of the most successful ways to develop the training of future specialists. The urgency of the need to improve the quality of teaching economic disciplines is not in doubt. The use of active methods of teaching economic disciplines stimulates the cognitive activity of students, respectively, forms important practical skills of researching situations, problem solving, improves the ability of reasoning and a clear statement of students’ thoughts. In general, today there is a need for non-standard-minded individuals. The need for the developed thinking of specialists in the field of economics, the ability to assess, design and rationalize knowledge and skills is also rapidly growing. The solution of these problems largely depends on the technology and content of economic education. This article reflects the main directions of application of modern educational technologies in the process of teaching economic disciplines. It also outlines the main theoretical and methodological aspects of the modern teaching of economic disciplines using various innovative learning technologies. Reflects the most successful ways of interactive methods of implementing education in the system of higher economic education. The article establishes that the modern learning process can open up a large number of new opportunities for students, thus, the information technology tools for teaching are reflected in an important part of the educational process.

The article deals with one of the directions of educational practice — practice-oriented training. In the implementation of practice-oriented training in modern education can help institutions of additional education, because they have a high adaptation to changes in society, quickly respond to individual educational and other needs of children, and most importantly, unlike regulated school education, offer the freedom to choose programs, directions of training, education and development. New requirements for the organization of the educational process in the system of additional education was a prerequisite for the development of a model of formation of universal educational actions on the basis of Children’s Ecological and Biological Center of Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai. When creating the model, we took into account that the educational activity of the Children’s Ecological and Biological Center is based on a system-activity approach, which will ensure: the formation of readiness for self-development and continuous education, design and construction of the social environment of students in the education system, active educational and cognitive activity of students, construction of the educational process taking into account the individual age, psychological and physiological characteristics of students. The proposed model can be implemented in all institutions of additional education of natural Sciences.

Being one of the leading coal mining regions in the world, Kuzbass (Russia) demands from its regional higher educational institutions to master a range of competences of the graduates, namely mining engineers. Foreign language competence is considered to be among the key ones. The article reveals the concept of the competence, its relevance for mining engineers. We also analyze existing mobile applications from the point of view of their educational potential and present the results of the experiment conducted to assess effectiveness of mobile applications in mastering foreign language competence of mining engineering undergraduates. Our methods included interviews with students, classroom observations and surveys of students. The results suggest that integrating mobile applications in educational process is likely to have a positive impact on foreign language competence and increase students’ motivation and satisfaction with foreign language learning.
