The concept of wasathiyah al-Islam is an important concept for the Islamic world today. Especially for the development of the da'wah method which metamorphosed into Da'wah wasathiyah al-Islam. Understanding Da'wah wasathiyyah al-Islam: 'is (justice), at-tawazun (balance), and tasamuh (tolerant) in religion is the responsibility of Islamic da'wah, including Islamic Religious Counselors, especially in Surakarta City. Functional Islamic Religious Extension is the main task to provide guidance or counseling and development in the language of religion. Surakarta is a barometer of various religious sects and schools ranging from radicalism, Wahhabism, liberalism is a challenge for Islamic Religious Extension, especially during this Covid 19 pandemic. Wasathiyah da'wah plays an active role in changing the mindset of the target group in responding to differences from one another, such as not highlighting differences in carrying out religious teachings, conducting joint recitations, and carrying out religious activities together, are indicators of the success of wasathiyah al-Islam da'wah.

As an extension of an experimental design reported previously the microstructure of dual task interaction was investigated in a condition in which task instructions favoured the task which had previously been designated the secondary task. In the situation explored in this paper subjects worked on the five-choice serial reaction task (designated secondary task) whilst at the same time they received single auditory digits at random time intervals, performed a transform operation (adding seven), and called the answer out into a voice key. The nature of the interaction was investigated using fine analysis of data, and it is argued that the results give further support to the view that subjects were processing information sequentially. A change in the patterning of serial responses in the interval defined by the digit stimulus ( Ds) and the digit response ( Dr) under the changed-instructions condition suggested that individuals are able to play an active role in the ordering of the attention process in sequential processing situations. ‘Process theory’, in which the information processing state of the main task is considered to have a direct influence on the response to the secondary task signal, is argued to be of little use in explaining the data. Two types of explanations based on criterion theory are considered—one which involves criterion setting with respect to a direct time base and one which relies on information processing stage, as an indirect time base. It is argued that the microstructure of dual task interaction should be investigated more closely and that the ordering of the time-sharing process is a skill.

This chapter explores the problems of studying Orthodox Jewish women, in particular the 'double invisibility' they experience, first from the perspective of male Orthodox Jews, and, second, in the lack of knowledge about them in the non-Jewish world. Orthodox women engage in a wide range of communal and domestic religious activities, in spite of their exclusion from an active role in worship in synagogue and from some areas of Torah study. Activities defined by Orthodoxy as the supreme religious privileges of women, such as keeping a kosher kitchen, preparing food for sabbath and festivals, and nurturing and educating children, remain largely invisible to Orthodox men. Standard descriptions of women's practices in the domestic and individual spheres omit many widespread customs and practices, often characterized as 'superstitions' although they form an integral and meaningful part of many women's religious lives. A major problem in studying women's religious lives and the ways in which they differ from and intersect with those of men is imagining how women fit into one's overall picture of Jewish religious activity. Neither the 'separate but equal' apologetic nor the simplistic identification of 'oppressed and oppressors' made by some feminists provides an adequate way of thinking about the relationship between male and female lived experience of Judaism. Given that Orthodox Judaism is undeniably patriarchal, it may reasonably be asked whether women have any access to power or agency within the religious life of the community, particularly in matters of ritual and correct practice.

In his research, the researcher discussed the definitions of Dawah (calling to Allah), its importance, and its status in Islamic legislation. He spoke in his research about the most prominent challenges that face modern-day Dawah, which are represented by three issues, and they are: The first issue: Challenges in the field of Dawah. The second issue: Challenges in authored books concerning Dawah. The third issue: Challenges in preparing callers to Allah. In his discussion of the first issue, he touched upon the most prominent challenges in the field of Dawah, from which is the multiplicity and presence of opposing Manahij (the way groups of people choose to practice religion, and their beliefs) that are against the scholastic and moderate Manhaj that Islam came with. The researcher also suggested several solutions for that, from amongst them is: Firstly: Governmental religious authorities should play an active role in monitoring religious activities and raising awareness of the dangers of dawah partisans. In his discussion of the second issue, the researcher clarified the importance of authoring books in the science of Dawah, and clarified the flaw present in this field, which is: Repetitive authorship of the same issues and books that aid false manahij, and presented a group of suggestions concerning that. And in the discussion of the third issue: The researcher spoke about the importance of preparing and qualifying callers to Allah, a scholastic preparation, a technical preparation, and a knowledge-related preparation, and that is to enable them to keep pace with the developments of the time, and the advancement of sciences. And finally, he ended his research with the conclusions he reached, asking Allah tawfeeq and correctness for all

This book provides a remarkable reformist approach to Islam in generaland to the Islamic theory of international relations in particular. The authorbegins by attributing the tragic condition of the modem Islamic world to itsstagnation, brought about by the predominance of taqlid. Only with a resolutionof the ”time-place issue” p. 4), a phrase that recurs throughout the book in relationto the necessity of distinguishing between what is permanent and what isa mere dated application in another time and place, does AbQSulaymzin believethat “the badly needed original dynamic and realistic policies” (p. 4) can befound. The author distinguishes between the Shari’ah and fiqh (writings of Islamicjurists), which he maintains has been inaccumtely considered to be “law in itselfand not a secondary source of Islamic law” p. 4). The siyar (i.e., juristic writingsrelated to international relations), AbuSulayman argues, is not “an Islamic lawamong nations’’ that constitutes “a sort of unified classical legal code” (p. 7).He also criticizes some writers for overlooking the diversity of classical opinion, saying that Majid Khadduri in particular presented only the “strict position”of al Shifi‘i while ignoring “the equally authoritative opinion of Abu Hanifah”AbuSulayman insists that it is necessary to understand the Qur’an and theSunnah “in the context of conditions at a time when the early Muslims wereconfronted by unceasing aggression and persecution” (p. 35) and criticizes theuse of abrogation (naskh) to exclude a more tolerant outlook. It is necessaryfor today‘s Muslims, the author says, ”to go back to the origins of Muslim thought. . . . and reexamine and reform their methods and approaches” (p. 49). Thetask of developing the required new methodology, he argues, must not be leftto the ulama alone, because they “no longer represent the mainstream of Muslimintellectual and public involvement” and are not educated in “the changes. . . inthe world today” (p. 76).Characterizing “modern Muslim thought in the field of external affairs”- particularly an “aggressive attitude involved in the classically militant approachto jihad” in the case of “a people who are [now] weak and backward ...
