Today’s vehicles already have several driver assistant systems and in the near future highly automated vehicles will also appear in road transport. Higher automation levels rely on disruptive technologies that cannot be tested and approved in the former way. To be able to guarantee future road safety also disruptive testing and validation methods are required. The complexity of the systems and the stochasticity of the potential traffic situations demand new approaches with different testing levels and approval layers. Since there are no off-the-self solutions available beyond the research the authors also participate in international activities like the Gear 2030 EU level initiative. This paper will discuss the proposed new approach for connected and automated vehicle testing methodology concluding with the technical specification results for the new Hungarian automotive proving ground.

The Korean National Pension Service (NPS) is a partially funded and defined-benefit system. Although the accumulated Fund of the NPS has been increased gradually, this large fund is concerned about depletion in the near future due to the unprecedented aging population and the low fertility rate. In this study, we have developed an asset-liability management (ALM) model that endogenizes variables which were regarded as being exogenous by including them in investable assets. We present the multistage stochastic programming (MSP) formulation incorporating the population structure as a variable that is new to ALM. The optimal portfolio encompassing the investment in raising the fertility rate is obtained. Extending the scope of ALM to social investment is a new approach that has not been attempted in other ALM studies. We demonstrate that socially driven investments can also be a good investment asset in which the NPS should consider to invest.

Globally, pedestrians represent 23% of all road deaths. Many solutions to protect pedestrians are proposed; in this paper, we focus on technical solutions of the ADAS–Advanced Driver Assistance Systems–type. Concerning the interaction between drivers and pedestrians, we want to have a closer look at two aspects: how to protect pedestrians with the help of vehicle technology, and how pedestrians–but also car drivers–perceive and accept such technology. The aim of the present study was to analyze and describe the experiences, needs, and preferences of pedestrians–and drivers–in connection with ADAS, or in other words, how ADAS should work in such a way that it would protect pedestrians and make walking more relaxed. Moreover, we interviewed experts in the field in order to check if, in the near future, the needs and preferences of pedestrians and drivers can be met by new generations of ADAS. A combination of different methods, specifically, an original questionnaire, on-the-spot interviewing, and expert interviews, was used to collect data. The qualitative data was analyzed using qualitative text analysis (clustering and categorization). The questionnaire for drivers was answered by a total of 70 respondents, while a total of 60 pedestrians agreed to complete questionnaires concerning pedestrian safety. Expert interviews (five interviews) were conducted by means of personal interviews, approximately one hour in duration. We conclude that systems to protect pedestrians–to avoid collisions of cars with pedestrians–are considered useful by all groups, though with somewhat different implications. With respect to the features of such systems, the considerations are very heterogeneous, and experimentation is needed in order to develop optimal systems, but a decisive argument put forward by some of the experts is that autonomous vehicles will have to be programmed extremely defensively. Given this argument, we conclude that we will need more discussion concerning typical interaction situations in order to find solutions that allow traffic to work both smoothly and safely.

The work, based on previously little available for research, as well as materials and documents found in archival institutions, reflects the legal basis for ensuring road safety in 1948-1953, the state and organizational and legal measures taken in the field of combating accidents in road transport at the republican level by the example Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Attention is focused on the key problems that determine the development of the road safety system, the measures taken, their effectiveness, mistakes and achievements. Measures to counteract accidents in vehicles are investigated from a historical and legal standpoint, a critical and detailed analysis of decrees and orders of the government, departmental regulatory legal acts. It was found that the presence of a significant number of administrative decisions of the republican authorities of Soviet Ukraine, although it was a rather progressive step for its time, did not fully take into account the reality of achieving the set goals, local conditions and peculiarities. At the same time, the functioning of the emerging road safety system was significantly hampered by the lack of a unified national policy in the context of the rapid growth and development of the country’s automobile and road complex.

PurposeThis paper aims to explore how purchasing could respond to disruptive technologies by examining the assumptions underlying purchasing strategic alignment and purchasing maturity through a contingency lens.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses a systematic review across purchasing maturity and purchasing strategic alignment literature. This is supplemented with exploratory case studies to include practitioners’ views.FindingsThis research demonstrates that neither purchasing maturity nor purchasing strategic alignment are suitable approaches to respond to disruptive technologies. Purchasing maturity does not allow purchasing managers to select relevant practices. It also shows no consideration of any contingencies, which practitioners highlight as important for the selection of practices. Purchasing strategic alignment includes the company strategy as a contingency but does not provide any practices to choose from. It does not include any other contextual contingencies considered important by practitioners. The findings indicate that linking the two research streams may provide a more suitable approach to responding to disruptive technologies.Research limitations/implicationsThis research demonstrates the requirement to develop a new approach to responding to disruptive technologies, by linking purchasing maturity and purchasing strategic alignment to contextual contingencies. This is a currently unexplored approach in academic literature, which refutes the generally accepted premise that higher maturity unilaterally supports a better positioning towards technological disruption. This research also highlights a requirement for practitioners to shift their approach to “best practices”.Originality/valueThis is the first research to systematically review the relationships between purchasing maturity and purchasing strategic alignment. It adds to contingency theory by suggesting that purchasing maturity models can support the achievement of strategic alignment. Also, future research directions are suggested to explore these relationships.

The article analyzes the city's logistics development strategies and its public transport, especially bus traffic. Statistical analysis of all road transport in the European Union (EU) has been carried out. The most important reasons for the tragic road accidents in Poland have been mixed up. Key elements of active safety and passive safety of buses and road safety were analyzed. Characterized key indicators of road safety in the EU and the probability of bus incidents. The impact on the ecology of the city of road transport was analyzed in terms of the significance of exhaust emissions of various bus designs and emissions of other pollutants.

Kamsebtibcar Lantas or secure, safety, orderliness, and fluency of traffic are made in support of road safety actions reporting on traffic due to the lack of public knowledge about the importance of using self-protection tools that have been determined in traffic law number 22 of 2009 concerning traffic and road transport. By using this program, you can find out the relationship between the factors that cause accidents. From those collected from various regions in East Java, taken from 2016 to 2018. The data obtained can be processed using data mining techniques. This technique works by using a pattern that is a reference for decision making. By using the Fp-Growth algorithm that works with the data tree system to find out the patterns of reporting activities that are happening, this pattern is determined by two parameters, namely support (support value) and confidence (certainty value). With this system, it can help the parties concerned to improve facilities in various Kamseltibcar Lantas reporting activities. Kamsebtibcar lantas atau keamanan, keselamatan, ketertiban, dan kelancaran lalu lintas dibuat dalampedalam mendukung pelaporan aksi keselamatan jalan pada lalu lintas yang dikarenakan minimnya pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pentingnya penggunaan alat perlindungan diri yang telah ditentukan pada undang-undang nomor 22 tahun 2009 tentang lalu lintas dan angkutan jalan. Dengan menggunakan program ini dapat mengetahui hubungan antara faktor-faktor penyebab kecelakaan. Data yang dikumpulkan dari berbagai daerah yang ada di wilayah Jawa Timur diambil pada tahun 2016 sampai dengan 2018. Data yang telah didapat dapat diolah menggunakan teknik data mining. Teknik ini berfungsi dengan menggunakan pola yang menjadi acuan untuk penentuan keputusan. Dengan menggunakan algoritma Fp-Growth yang bekerja dengan sistem data tree untuk mengetahui pola kegiatan pelaporan kamsebticar lalu lintas yang sedang terjadi, pola ini ditentukan dengan dua parameter, yaitu support (nilai penunjang) dan confidence (nilai kepastian). Dengan sistem ini dapat membantu pihak yang berkaitan untuk meningkatkan fasilitas dalam berbagai kegiatan pelaporan Kamseltibcar Lantas.

The aim of this article is to describe educational activities concerning improvement of road safety taken by the [Polish] Road Transport Inspection. In order to build awareness of our society some actions should be taken at the earliest age and involve many different institutions, not only schools. The authors show how the Road Transport Inspection fulfils this assumption by creating “Bezpieczna Szkoła Krokodylka Tirka” (‘Crocodile Tirek's School of Safety’), organising lessons about road safety in hospitals, high schools or lectures on conferences, fairs and other events concerning transportation, logistics and shipping. The Engagement of the Road Transport Inspection in education and media campaigns involving road safety has been discussed in the range of years 2018-2020 and it shows the dynamic development of the unit on this field. Our analysis indicates that the most effective in education is combination of both theory and practise or sharing by officers, their knowledge and work experience with the audience. The biggest challenge, on the contrary, is to bring all this activities to the Internet, which is necessary especially because of coronavirus pandemic.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia which causes a progressive and irreversible impairment of several cognitive functions. The aging population has been increasing significantly in recent decades and this disease affects mainly the elderly. Its diagnostic accuracy is relatively low and there is not a biomarker able to detect AD without invasive tests. Despite the progress in better understanding the disease there remains no prospect of cure at least in the near future. The electroencephalogram (EEG) test is a widely available technology in clinical settings. It may help diagnosis of brain disorders, once it can be used in patients who have cognitive impairment involving a general decrease in overall brain function or in patients with a located deficit. This study is a new approach to improve the scalp localization and the detection of brain anomalies (EEG temporal events) sources associated with AD by using the EEG.
