This study was conducted for determining the plant taxa of the pollen grain in the atmosphere of the city center of Sinop (Turkey) and investigating the effects of meteorological factors on pollen concentration, by analyzing daily, weekly and monthly changes in the atmosphere. The types and amounts of pollen grain in the atmosphere were determined using Burkard trap. On the basis of the average of 2 years (2016 - 2017), the dominant trees taxa in the atmosphere were Cupressaceae/Taxaceae (32.67%), Pinaceae (15.51%), Morus sp. (5.50%), Quercus sp. (2.76%), Alnus sp. (2.24%), Corylus sp. (1.48%), Carpinus sp. (1.43%), Juglans sp. (1.43%), Fraxinus sp. (1.33%), Olea europaea (1.05%) and Poaceae (Grass) (5.29%), whereas the dominant weed taxa were Urticaceae (11.16%), Ambrosia sp. (4.31%), Amaranthaceae (3.21%), and Mercurialis sp. (2.05%). Temperature and wind speed had a positive effect on the increased amount of pollen, whereas precipitation had a negative effect on it. On the basis of the data obtained, a pollen calendar was prepared for the area.

Based on the daily measurements of atmospheric aerosol characteristics in the city of Dolgoprudny (20 km from the center of Moscow) carried out during 2013-2018, the influence of some meteorological factors on the concentration of various aerosol fractions in the surface layer of the atmosphere is analyzed. It is that the aerosol concentration depends most on the wind speed and the vertical temperature gradient. The method of simple estimation of aerosol particles accumulation conditions in the surface layer based on the use of standard radiosonde data is developed.

Abstract This paper investigates the effects of climate and governments responses on the spread of the COVID-19. Our strategy is empirical. Our model is based on an accounting equation derived from the SIR model, and estimates the relationship between the growth of the daily COVID-19 confirmed cases on the one hand, and climatic variables (such as the daily average temperature and the wind speed) and governments responses to COVID-19 on the other hand. We also develop a theoretical approach to test the presence of a threshold in the effect of the temperature on the COVID-19 spread. Using a panel data on a sample of 294 territories overs 106 days (from 22 January, 2020 to 06 May, 2020), we find significant negative effect of temperature and temperature variability and significant positive effect of wind speed and precipitation on the growth of the COVID-19 confirmed cases. We also find that governments responses are associated to a lower growth of confirmed cases. But we do not find any universally applicable threshold effect in the relationship between the average temperature and the confirmed cases growth.JEL Classification: C12, C15, C23, C60

After presenting a brief account of the societal context of China, the authors use the microdata of the 1987 National Population Survey to study the migration behaviors of Chinese people in the mid-1980s. The authors' main concern is with the effects of the government migration policy, and the focus is on the migrations in the city/town/rural hierarchy. There are two main findings. First, although the migration policy resulted in a very low migration level and systematic distortions in migration schedules, its encouragement of downward migrations was very ineffective, whereas its control on rural-to-urban migrations was partially weakened by the strong upward aspiration of rural families awakened by recent economic reform. Consequently, net in-migration contributed substantially to the growth both of city and of town populations. Second, although the level of education had a strong positive effect on the migration propensities both of males and of females in general, it had a strong negative effect on the migration propensities of females at the time of marriage, a finding which suggests that the families at subsistence income level tended to marry their daughters to grooms in other communities in order to reduce the risk of familial income shortfalls.

The cemetery areas, which are shaped in line with the beliefs and traditions of every society, are generally idle in our country; they have become places that cannot nourish neither the human soul nor the city of which they once had a memory. However, cemetery areas are considered as a dynamic part of the urban landscape and it is clear that if all the processes are planned correctly from the site selection decision to the final shape it will have, it will have a positive effect on the city. In this context, the current spatial and design conditions of six city cemeteries in Altınordu district in Ordu province were analyzed and a survey study was conducted to learn the expectations of the visitors. In addition, evaluations were made on the need for cemetery in Ordu city center. As a result of the study, it was found that the existing cemeteries have spatial adequacy, but they need appropriate spatial arrangements in order to contribute to urban landscape.
