La investigación tuvo como población objetivo a 107 recicladores de las siete asociaciones de Cuenca: Cristo Rey, AREV, El Chorro, ARUC, Feria Libre, Pichacay y San Alfonso. El proyecto fue realizado por profesores y estudiantes de la Escuela de Psicología Organizacional de la Universidad del Azuay. Su principal objetivo fue brindar una alternativa de fortalecimiento dentro del ámbito del comportamiento humano, en competencias tales como el liderazgo, comunicación efectiva, trabajo en equipo, motivación y desarrollo personal, para fomentar la productividad y el desarrollo organizacional. Mediante encuestas, entrevistas a profundidad y grupos focales se realizó un diagnóstico situacional de las relaciones interpersonales de los recicladores, para determinar las oportunidades de mejora, tanto a nivel personal como colectivo. Como principales resultados de este proyecto social, se evidenciaron problemas intrapersonales e interpersonales dentro de sus asociaciones. Para contribuir a mejorar la calidad de vida de esta población vulnerable, se implementaron talleres de capacitación relacionados a la psicología organizacional y adaptada al diagnóstico situacional. El proyecto permitió que los recicladores mejoren sus competencias necesarias para el correcto desenvolvimiento en su ambiente de trabajo y en sus hogares. Asimismo, fue una gran oportunidad para que los estudiantes participen activamente en las necesidades de la comunidad.Palabras clave: comportamiento de grupo, desarrollo de competencias, psicología organizacional, recicladores. Abstract The present research work had a target population of 107 recyclers from the seven associations in the city of Cuenca: Cristo Rey, AREV, El Chorro, Feria Libre, Pichacay y San Alfonso. This project was realized by teachers and students of the Organizational Psychology’s school of the Universidad del Azuay and had as its main purpose offer to waste pickers with a strengthening alternative within the field of human behavior, in skills such as leadership, effective communication, teamwork, motivation and personal development; through them, promote productivity and organizational development into the associations they are part of. Through surveys, in-depth interviews and focus groups, a situational diagnosis of the interpersonal relationships of each association was carried out in order to determine opportunities for improvement, both personally and collectively level. As main results of this project of engagement with society, intrapersonal problems were evidenced in the recyclers, as well as interpersonal problems within associations. Looking to contribute for improving the quality of life of this vulnerable group, training organizational workshops were elaborated and implemented, adapting them to the situational diagnosis. The project allowed people to improve their abilities and skills necessary for the proper development in their work environment and in their homes. It was also a great opportunity for students to form by participating and actively serving in the community needs. Khmer Girl’s in Action is a nonprofit that successfully utilizes community-based participatory research (CBPR) with university partners to create social change for youth in Long Beach, CA. Based on semi-structured interviews and content analysis of news articles, I explore the impact and sustainability of this research work and the research partnerships. Findings highlight impacts such as youth empowerment, heightened awareness around community needs, policy change, and CBPR curriculum improvements in the field as impacts. Sustainability requires integrating research into program funding, utilizing a tailored training curriculum, building on community members prior relationships, and selecting partners that share common goals, levels of commitment, and flexibility. As funders demand more data to justify community needs, understanding more examples of such work in the Asian American community will be useful for informing future partnerships.

The study was carried out to examine the situation of university students from one month after the beginning of a very strict confinement process in Spain during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students responded to a survey which included the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) together with other questions relating to their general well-being from the European Quality of Life Survey (EQLS). A total of 198 university students answered the web-based survey. The questionnaire was generated using Microsoft Forms and was explained and distributed online. The results indicated that around 18.7% of students were suffering from severe anxiety and 70.2% were suffering either mild or moderate anxiety at this point of the strict confinement process. The findings show that when emotional well-being (quality of sleep, the perception of feeling fear, death of a relative) is reduced and material well-being is negatively affected (income level) anxiety levels are increased. On the other hand, the results show that having good interpersonal relationships with family members and taking care of personal development (routines and habits that make them feel good) help reduce anxiety levels. The female students in the sample also suffered higher levels of anxiety than males during strict confinement.

Adolescents are admitted to psychiatric wards presenting with psychiatric problems which are essentially secondary to problematic interpersonal relationships. Successful interpersonal relationships however depend on effective interpersonal communication. Therefore the aim of research on adolescent interpersonal communication was to explore and describe the interpersonal communication patterns of adolescents and to develop an interpersonal communication skills approach to facilitate adolescent interpersonal communication skills within a training programme for adolescents. In this article however attention will be given to the description of the interpersonal communication patterns of adolescents. The target population of the research was 17 year old adolescents. The research consisted of a pre-phase where two contextual scenarios were formulated within group discussions with adolescents. During phase one of the research these scenarios were used to obtain video taped role plays from pairs of adolescents of the target population which were transcribed for data gathering purposes. Written dialogues were also obtained from each pair of adolescents on the same scenarios used for triangulation purposes. During phase two of the research the data was analysed according to Tesch’s method and a literature control was done to verify the results. Guba’s model for the trustworthiness of qualitative research was used.

<p>The article presents the study on the factors influencing appearance of loneliness at female prisoners. The results obtained indicate that loneliness is caused not only by subjective factors, such as personal traits, needs, motives, but also by an objective factor - the socially closed structure of detention places and the limited environment there. The main subjective reasons for female prisoners’ feelings of loneliness are despair, fears, depression and aggression, caused by their inability to satisfy their needs for communication, safety, personal development and goal achievement.</p>The feeling of loneliness appears because the influence of the following factors: personal traits, insufficient interpersonal relationships, fear of rejection, subjective and objective causes

The article deals with the study of the nature of anxiety and its impact on personal development, manifested in primary school children. The aim of the study is to identify the features of the influence of drawing therapy on the correction of anxiety in primary school children. The hypothesis of the study is presented as an assumption that the correction of anxiety in children of primary school age will be more successful if a set of classes is used by the method of drawing therapy in compliance with the following pedagogical conditions: classes include various forms of drawing therapy for the correction of anxiety in children, including in remote mode in the conditions of quarantine measures of the pandemic; in the course of classes, adapted individual work is carried out. A description of the entire study on the tasks set is given: to identify the initial levels of anxiety in children; implement an empirical study on the adapted correctional program of drawing therapy and verify the results by monitoring the diagnosis of anxiety in primary school children. The research work is carried out on the basis of school No. 20. Yakutsk, among the students of the 4th grade in the number of 29 people.

The purpose of this study was to identify the adopted conflict management approach on organizational development in coffee cooperatives. The research was conducted in Machakos Co-operative Union in the Lower Eastern part of Kenya. Descriptive research survey was used. The target population was drawn from 1500 employees of Machakos Co-operative Union who took part in the study. The sample size was 305 employees drawn from different levels of management selected through cluster sampling technique. Systematic sampling was used to give each individual a chance to be chosen. Data collection was carried out through the use of Semi-structured questionnaire and interview guide. Both qualitative and quantitative technique was used to analyse data. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics through content analysis and findings were analysed and presented quantitatively and qualitatively in frequency tables, graphs pie charts and percentage while qualitative data was analysed using thematic techniques and data presented in narrative forms. From the study, it was established that different conflict management approaches were employed in Machakos Coffee Cooperative, 22% of the respondents reported that accommodation strategy was used and 23% the Collaboration strategy which led to improved productivity in the organization and enhanced inter personal relations while 54% of the respondents indicated that the contending approach which was mostly used influenced conflict management in the organization. The study recommends that organizations need to embrace the strategy in order to maximize productivity and encourage retention of human resource.

AbstractFollowing a qualitative study design with young adults (aged seventeen to twenty-nine) of a racialised minority status (n= 36) in a low-income community in Toronto, Canada, we found that social relationships and dynamics greatly influenced perspectives towards labour market success. Respondents identified that interpersonal relationships with employers, family members and neighbourhood/community members influenced their perseverance and motivation for upward social mobility through securing and maintaining employment. The findings highlight the fundamental relationship between perceptions of upward social mobility and individual social capital. In particular, the wide array of social networks that can influence the perspectives of racial minority young adults – both positively and negatively. The findings extend contemporary discussions about the relationship between social capital and career aspirations among racial minority young adults, to include a spectrum of interrelated social networks that collectively aid in improving personal development. While contemporary discussions focus on the utility of informal knowledge sharing about career development and post-secondary attainment, the findings here demonstrate the importance of policy and programme solutions that support the mobilisation of a wider array of embedded social resources, within the social networks of racial minority young adults, that help support positive perceptions towards upward social mobility.

Sustainable decisions in education are those which pursue long-term achievements for students. In many cases, the principals of the schools are those who must make these decisions. In this paper we explore some of the factors that influence the students’ long-term development by means of an analysis of the correlation between certain organizational aspects of the schools which directly depend on the principals and the scores that their students have obtained in the International Assessment PISA 2018 in mathematics, reading and science. The results point to a better long-term student achievement when the organizational decisions are designed to enhance interpersonal relationships (teacher-teacher, teacher-student and student-student), responding to the specific needs of each person and based on trust. Conversely, it seems that when the organizational decisions are merely made to control academic life, they either bear upon academic achievement in a negative way or do not significantly affect it. The results suggest that carefully attending to interpersonal relationships is the key factor behind all the educational decisions which generate sustainable socio-personal development.

La fobia social nace del miedo que una persona tiene por llegar a ser juzgado por los demás e incluso este miedo puede impedir que el individuo realice sus actividades diarias. Es así como muchas de las personas que padecen esta fobia sienten temor constante a tener nuevas relaciones interpersonales, al hablar en público y esto muchas veces antes que ocurra el acontecimiento de conocer a alguien nuevo. Aunque estas personas saben que no deberían tener miedo ante aquellos hechos simplemente es algo que no pueden evitar en sus relaciones interpersonales ya que enfrentan un grave problema, puesto que la comunicación y la interacción entre los individuos son de vital importancia. Por lo expuesto, en este artículo científico se determinaron las causas que dieron origen a este trastorno con la finalidad de establecer pautas claras para mejorar calidad de vida del individuo y su relación con el entorno. Se realizó el estudio en 100 estudiantes universitarios. Los resultados permitieron establecer, que los índices de los indicadores de autoestima y ansiedad fueron relevantes al momento de diagnosticar esta problemática en la comunidad universitaria. ABSTRACT Social phobia is born of the fear that a person has to come to be judged by others and even this fear can prevent the individual to perform their daily activities. This is how many people who suffer from this phobia feel constant fear of having new interpersonal relationships, speaking in public and this many times before the event of meeting someone new. Although these people know that they should not be afraid of those facts, it is simply something they cannot avoid in their interpersonal relationships since they face a serious problem, since communication and interaction between individuals are of vital importance. Therefore, in this scientific article the causes that gave rise to this disorder were determined in order to establish clear guidelines to improve the quality of life of the individual and its relationship with the environment. The study was conducted on 100 university students. The results allowed to establish that the indices of self-esteem and anxiety indicators were relevant at the time of diagnosing this problem in the university community.

This article aims to analyze the relationship between emotional competencies and responsible decision making in pre-adolescents, and the support of teachers and parents in this process, which could help students to solve problems and face risk situations in a better way. A quantitative, descriptive correlation and cross-sectional type research was carried out to achieve this aim. 70 students from the 4th, 5th and 6th grades (ages 8-12), three teachers and 12 parents from a public school in the province of Almeria, Spain, participated in the study. Three questionnaires were designed (for students, teachers and parents) to collect the information; they were based on theoretical models (Bisquerra & Pérez, 2007) and standardized self-report inventories in emotional competencies (Extremera & Fernández-Berrocal, 2004; Matson et al., 1983). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, a comparison between groups, and a correlation between variables. Among the main results, students reported that they did greater work in strengthening their emotional awareness, followed by emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships. There were no significant differences in emotional management and responsible decision making among students from the three academic years; however, males reported greater emotional control than females. A significant correlation between emotional competencies and responsible decision making in pre-adolescents was found. Teaching staff mentioned having done greater work in the development of students’ emotional awareness and support of their responsible decision making. Parents, in turn, seek to help their sons and daughters to be more self-reliant, in addition to working collaboratively with the school, by documenting or seeking support to contribute to education and personal development of their children.
