The inappropriate use or misuse of antibiotics, particularly by outpatients, increases antibiotic resistance. A lack of public knowledge about “Responsible use of antibiotics” and “How to obtain antibiotics” is a major cause of this. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of an educational video about antibiotics and antibiotic use to increase outpatients’ knowledge shown in two public hospitals in East Java, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental research setting was used with a one-group pre-test—post-test design, carried out from November 2018 to January 2019. The study population consisted of outpatients to whom antibiotics were prescribed. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique; 98 outpatients at MZ General Hospital in the S regency and 96 at SG General Hospital in the L regency were included. A questionnaire was used to measure the respondents’ knowledge, and consisted of five domains, i.e., the definition of infections and antibiotics, obtaining the antibiotics, directions for use, storage instructions, and antibiotic resistance. The knowledge test score was the total score of the Guttman scale (a dichotomous “yes” or “no” answer). To determine the significance of the difference in knowledge before and after providing the educational video and in the knowledge score between hospitals, the (paired) Student’s t-test was applied. The educational videos significantly improved outpatients’ knowledge, which increased by 41% in MZ General Hospital, and by 42% in SG General Hospital. It was concluded that an educational video provides a useful method to improve the knowledge of the outpatients regarding antibiotics.

Antibiotics are drugs that work to kill and or inhibit bacterial growth. Antibiotics are a class of prescriptions drugs that are widely used in the management of pharmacological therapy. Antibiotic knowledge must be used rationally and requires knowledge for the patient. Low levels of knowledge about the use of antibiotics can lead to inappropriate use of antibiotics, so there is a risk of causing side effects of antibiotics. Providing education is one way that can be used to increase knowledge about rational use of antibiotics. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of education on the use of antibiotics on outpatients at Kanjuruhan Hospital Malang Regency. This type of research was an Quasi-experimental by using one group pre-test post-test and prospective with sampling using accidental sampling technique data collection of 62 respondents. The result of the research showed that in pre test 44% respondents were having lack antibiotic-use knowledge, 35% respondents were having sufficient antibiotic-use knowledge, and 21% respondents were having good antibiotic-use knowledge. In post-test, 3% respondents belong to low-category, 15% respondents belong to medium-category, and 82% respondents belong to high-category. The T-test showed differences in scores between before and after being given education with a significance value of 0.00 (p value <0.05). The conclusion of this research is that there is an effect of providing education on the level of knowledge of outpatients in Kanjuruhan Hospital Malang Regency.

Objective: Antibiotic resistance requires substantial responses through two mechanisms: new antibiotic development and smart antibiotic use. Antibiotic Stewardship Program (ASP) is one of the responses that reduce the overall antibiotics use and prevent the overuse of antibiotics to avoid antibiotic resistance. The purpose of this study was to assess the difference in defined daily dose (DDD) and the cost of therapy (COT) for empirical ceftriaxone therapy in sepsis patients pre- and post-ASP model implementation in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung. Methods: A pre- and post-intervention quasi-experimental study on ASP model implementation in empirical ceftriaxone therapy provided to sepsis patients treated in the intensive or semi-intensive care units was performed from December 2015 to July 2016 using the Mann Whitney test and t-test. The DDD was calculated as DDD/100 patient-days, while the COT was calculated as the COT/patient-day. The ASP model intervention implemented in these units applied 2 main strategies: ceftriaxone use restriction and ceftriaxone therapy duration audit. Results: Participants of this study consisted of 112 sepsis subjects (n=112) with 55 subjects in the pre-ASP group and 57 subjects in the post-ASP group. The mean DDD/100 patient-days in the post-ASP subject was lower than that of the pre-ASP (16.3±4.3 and 45.8±16.8; p=0.018). The median COT/patient-days in post-ASP subject was IDR 42,000 (IDR 14.000–42.000), which was lower than that of the pre-ASP group of IDR 84.000 (IDR 28.000–420.000, p=0.001). Conclusion: The differences in the DDD/100 patient-day and COT/patient-day values between the pre-ASP and post-ASP are significant. The ASP model applied in Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital, Bandung leads to a smart use of ceftriaxone and reduces costs for the empiric ceftriaxone therapy in sepsis patients

Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of the endocrine system characterized by increased levels of glucose in the blood. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of Buerger's Allen exercise on the value of the ankle brachial index (ABI) in patients with diabetes mellitus. The research design was a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest without a control. The study was conducted from March to May 2021 at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital with 48 respondents, with consecutive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The Buergers Allen exercise intervention was performed twice a day, for three weeks. The procedure is performed by lifting the lower extremities up at an angle of 45-90 degrees for 2-3 minutes, then the patient sits at the bedside with the legs hanging down, accompanied by flexion, extension, pronation and supination movements for 5-10 minutes, and the patient lies down. with both feet resting for 10 minutes. There was a significant effect between the mean ABI value before intervention 0.83 and after intervention 0.95, p=0.00. The difference in mean ABI p=0.000, p<0.05. The results of the study concluded that there was an effect of buerger allen exercise on the ABI value before and after the intervention where the ABI value was getting better. It is recommended for nurses to make Buergers Allen exercise one of the independent nursing interventions in providing nursing care to patients with diabetes mellitus.

The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the cooperative learning model type student team's achievement division has on basketball shoot lay-up skills. The research method used in this research is a quasi-experimental method. The type of research design used was the non-equivalent group design. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Majalengka in 2019 totaling 424 students. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster random sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 214 students consisting of class XI IPS 1-4 and XI MIPA 7-8. The experimental group class XI IPS 1-2 and XI MIPA, control group class XI IPS 3-4 and XI MIPA 8. The results showed that the mean pre-test lay-up shoot of the experimental group was 4.09 while the control group was 3.92. The mean post-test shoot lay-up of the experimental group was 6.76 while the control group was 4.72. Furthermore, by looking at 95% confidence interval of the difference, there is a difference between the shoot lay-up results of the experimental group and the control group, which is -0.190 to 2.412. Thus, it can be concluded that STAD is effective in improving basketball shoot lay-up skills.

Abstract Background: Overuse of antibiotics is a major challenge and undermines measures to control drug resistance worldwide. Postnatal women and newborns are at risk of infections and are often prescribed prophylactic antibiotics, although there is no evidence to support their universal use in either group. Methods: We performed point prevalence surveys in three hospitals in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in 2018 to collect descriptive data on antibiotic use and infections in maternity and neonatal wards. Results: Prescribing of antibiotics was high in all three hospitals ranging from 90% (43/48) to 100% (34/34) in women after cesarean section, from 1.4% (1/73) to 63%(30/48) in women after vaginal delivery, and from 89%(76/85) to 100%(77/77) in neonates. The most common reason for prescribing antibiotics was medical prophylaxis in both maternity and neonatal wards.Conclusion: We observed substantial overuse of antibiotics in postnatal women and newborns.This calls for urgent antibiotic stewardship programs in Tanzanian hospitals to curb the inappropriate use and limit the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract: Breast cancer is the most common malignancies among woman in Indonesian. One of breast cancer treatment is chemotherapy which resist cancer’s cells to grow. But chemotherapy also cause DNA damage that interfere lymphocyte proliferation. Depletion on lymphocyte counts will increased patient’s susceptibility to opportunistic infection. The aim of this research was to knowing the difference of lymphocyte counts because of chemotherapy on breast cancer patients in general hospital Ulin Banjarmasin. This research was an observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was non-probability sampling followed by consecutive sampling. Total samples were 61 patients that match with inclusion criteria. Paired T-test was used to analyze the hypothesis with the result of pvalue=0.000 (ρ<0.05), that means there’s a significant decrease in the number of lymphocyte counts after receiving chemotherapy in general hospital Ulin Banjarmasin, January 2014 to December 2015 period. Keywords: chemotherapy, lymphocyte, breast cancer

Lesson material presented in the form of data or facts and specific concepts on expository learning model helps learners to connect new material with material that precedes it, so organizers help is provided to instill meaningful learning. This study aims to determine the difference of influence of the implementation of learning model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer expository. The population in this study is all students of class X MIA SMA Negeri 3 Mataram academic year 2017/2018. Sampling is done by purposive sampling technique, and quasi experimental research uses non-equivalent control group design with pre-test-and post-test. The results obtained from the classroom given the treatment of expository learning model assisted by advance organizer and post organizer have the same tendency improvement. In both classes there is a relatively similar increase in the mastery of the previous concept, but the difference between the two is not much different. Therefore, there is no difference of influence between expository model of assisted advance organizer and post organizer to the mastery of work and energy concepts of learners.

The problem at this research is laerning outcomes of students at Digital Simulation subject in X TITL SMK N 2 Sawahlunto, which not achieve the baoundary of Minimal Thoroughness Criteria or in Indonesian called KKM. This research purpose in order to know what level of the difference learning outcomes by apply drills and practice learning model and simulation learning model at Digital Simulation subject in X TITL SMK N 2 Sawahlunto school year 2014/2015. This research is an experimental research using quasi experimental method. Interpretation of sampels using non probability sampling technique with purposive sampling, as first experiment class is X TITL 2. This class using drills and practice learning model. Second experiment class is X TITL 1 which use simulation learning model. Datas collection technique from posttests gave every meeting, than this data were analyzed to get normality test, homogenous test and hypothesis test. The result of research in first experimen class get subjection mean 78.79 and second experiment class get subjection mean 70.91. Value of hypothesis test degree of significant α = 0.05 was tcount > ttable (5.3005 > 2.023). It’s mean nil hypothesis (H0) was denied and alternative hypothesis (H1) was received with the difference 8.87 and percentage of different is 12.51%. In conclusion result of analyzed learning outcomes first experiment class and second experiment class, its have significant different of influences between using drills and practice learning model and used simulation learning model. Key Word : learning outcomes, drills and practice learning model, simulation learning model.

<p class="JKKAbstrakBodyIndo">The problem for pregnant women is iron anemia. The natural material that contains iron is honey. The study aims to determine the difference in hemoglobin levels in pregnant anemic who are supplemented Fe tablets and honey. Quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized pretest and posttest with control group design. Samples amounted to 30 people with purposive sampling technique. Analysis using paired t-test and independent sample t-test. The hemoglobin levels of anemic pregnant given Fe tablets only increased by 0,31gr/dl (3,21%), while those given Fe tablets and honey increased 1,06gr/dl (12,20%). Combination Fe tablets and honey can be an alternative for increasing hemoglobin in anemic pregnant.</p><p> </p>
