The impact of urbanization on lakes in the urban context has aroused continuous attention from the public. However, the long-term evolution of lakes in a certain megacity and the heterogeneity of the spatial relationship between related influencing factors and lake changes are rarely discussed. The evolution of 58 lakes in Wuhan, China from 1990 to 2019 was analyzed from three aspects of lake area, lake landscape, and lakefront ecology, respectively. The Multi-Scale Geographic Weighted Regression model (MGWR) was then used to analyze the impact of related influencing factors on lake area change. The investigation found that the total area of 58 lakes decreased by 15.3%. A worsening trend was found regarding lake landscape with the five landscape indexes of lakes dropping; in contrast, lakefront ecology saw a gradual recovery with variations in the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI) in the lakefront area. The MGWR regression results showed that, on the whole, the increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP), RSEI in the lakefront area, precipitation, and humidity contributed to lake restoration. The growth of population and the proportion of impervious surface (IS) in the lakefront area had different effects on different lakes. Specifically, the increase in GDP and population in all downtown districts and two suburb districts promoted lake restoration (e.g., Wu Lake), while the increase in population in Jiangxia led to lake loss. The growth of RSEI in lakefront area promoted the restoration of most lakes. A higher proportion of IS in lakefront area normally resulted in more lake loss. However, in some cases, the growth of IS was caused by lake conservation, which contributed to lake restoration (e.g., Tangxun Lake). The study reveals the spatiotemporal evolution of multiple lakes in Wuhan and provides a useful reference for the government to formulate differentiated protection policies.

India is urbanizing at an alarming rate and the impact of climate change is becoming more visible each passing day. The rapid urbanization and climate change have severe direct and indirect consequences, such as increasing poverty, inequality, massive displacement, public health concerns, and challenges of urban governance, among others. This paper identifies some of the most pressing issues faced by urban India in the context of climate change. It also details the interventions undertaken at the local, national, and international levels to counter the effect of the climate change. In addition, it critically evaluates the role of government organizations, especially in terms of undertaking regulatory and planning functions. The paper argues that the implementation of institutional reforms would enable the government to reach out to the private sector to improve urban service delivery. It also provides examples of best practices from India and the world in combating climate change through adaptation and mitigation approaches.Abstrak. The study on relationship between metabolic syndrome and oral health, is rare. We investigated to find out the correlation of metabolic syndrome and oral health. We investigated to find out the correlation of metabolic syndrome and oral health with the data from the 6th Korea national health and nutrition examination survey. Metabolic syndrome was defined as National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel. To analyze influencing factors of metabolic syndrome, multivariable logistic regression was used. Our results showed that gender (male) (OR 1.86; 95%CI: 1.27-2.72; p<.05) and not taking dietary supplements (OR 1.74; 95%CI: 1.22-2.48; p<.05) factors were the most influencing factors of metabolic syndrome. And then, presence of stress (OR1.59; 95%CI: 1.28-1.98; p<.05), lowest education level (elementary) (OR1.48; 95%CI: 0.98-2.21; p=.05) and oral health (periodontitis) (OR1.39; 95%CI: 1.09-1.78; p<.05) factors were showed as the next strong factors of metabolic syndrome in order. We highlighted on the impact of oral health in metabolic syndrome including chewing difficulty as well as periodontitis. And to prevent metabolic syndrome cause of serious disability and lowering quality of life, we tried to find out the influencing factors of metabolic syndrome considering of this study with diverse view point such as adding the dietary supplements as dietary habit, stress as psychological value, and sedentary time as health-related factors. The government and public health associates should do urgently preparing the policies and strategies focusing on gender disparities, dietary supplements and oral health to prevent metabolic syndrome among ageing population.

Rapid urbanization has brought huge development dividends to China. At the same time, its negative effects have aroused people’s attention. For example, a large amount of cultivated land has been occupied for urban expansion and construction. Using exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) and the spatial Durbin model (SDM), we analyzed the spatial distribution of cultivated land occupation for construction (CLOC) and its driving factors in 31 provinces in China from 2005 to 2016. The results indicated that (1) the CLOC rate presented a significant spatial clustering feature, and its distribution showed a new trend of “homogenization” after the year 2012; (2) as the core driving factor, the population urbanization rate significantly promoted the growth of the CLOC rate in the local province, while showing a negative effect on that rate in the neighboring provinces; (3) in addition, behind the new trend of the CLOC rate, there was a transformation from being “investment driven” to being “population and industry driven”. Therefore, this paper suggests that the government should link each city’s construction land supply to the constantly changing trend of population migrations in China. Further, promoting the tertiary industry can be a win–win strategy for easing the tension between cultivated land and construction land.

Currently, many online platforms participate in the recycling of waste products, and the online recycling of used mobile phones is especially popular. We explore the service strategy for and the factors influencing customers’ willingness of online recycling (CWOR) of used mobile phones. We develop a game model of a reverse supply chain comprising a mobile phone manufacturer (MPM) and an online recycling platform (ORP) to analytically examine the influencing factors of CWOR. We show that the MPM’s profit is mainly affected by CWOR and the ORP’s offered recycling service. The impacts of customers’ preferences of the recycling price and recycling service on the MPM’s profit depend on the service cost coefficient. The ORP’s profit is independent of its service cost and customers’ preference of the recycling service. However, the impact of the recycling commission is restricted by customers’ preference of the recycling price. We also use structural equation modelling to empirically show that recycling service and environmental consciousness positively affect CWOR, and environmental protection publicity enhances environmental consciousness. In addition, customers’ age and income moderate the recycling service–CWOR link. Our findings reveal that improving the recycling service can directly and indirectly promote the recycling of used mobile phones. These findings provide guidance to the government and businesses related to used mobile phone recycling.

Subject. The paper considers national projects in the field of transport infrastructure, i.e. Safe and High-quality Roads and Comprehensive Plan for Modernization and Expansion of Trunk Infrastructure, and the specifics of their implementation in the Rostov Oblast. Objectives. The aim is to conduct a statistical assessment of the impact of transport infrastructure on the region’s economic performance and define prospects for and risks of the implementation of national infrastructure projects in conditions of a shrinking economy. Methods. I use available statistics and apply methods and approaches with time-series data, namely stationarity and cointegration tests, vector autoregression models. Results. The level of economic development has an impact on transport infrastructure in the short run. However, the mutual influence has not been statistically confirmed. The paper revealed that investments in the sphere of transport reduce risk of accidents on the roads of the Rostov Oblast. Improving the quality of roads with high traffic flow by reducing investments in the maintenance of subsidiary roads enables to decrease accident rate on the whole. Conclusions. In conditions of economy shrinking caused by the complex epidemiological situation and measures aimed at minimizing the spread of coronavirus, it is crucial to create a solid foundation for further economic recovery. At the government level, it is decided to continue implementing national projects as significant tools for recovery growth.

As 21st century is the era of modern technologies with different aspects, it offers us to make the best use of them. After tape recorder and overhead projector (OHP), multimedia has become an important part of language classroom facilities for its unique and effective application in delivering and learning lesson. Although in many parts of Bangladesh, a South Asian developing country, where English enjoys the status of a foreign language, the use of multimedia in teaching and learning is viewed as a matter of luxury. However, nowadays the usefulness and the necessity of it are well recognized by the academics as well as the government. The study aims to focus on the difference between a traditional classroom void of multimedia and multimedia equipped classrooms at university level by explaining how multimedia support the students with enhanced opportunity to interact with diverse texts that give them more in-depth comprehension of the subject. It also focuses on audio-visual advantage of multimedia on the students’ English language learning. The study has followed a qualitative method to get an in-depth understanding of the impact of using multimedia in an English language classroom at tertiary level. For this purpose, the data have been collected from two different sources. Firstly, from students’ written response to  an open ended question as to their comparative experience of learning  lessons with and without multimedia facilities; and secondly, through  observation of English language classes at a private university of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The discussion of the study is limited to  the use of multimedia in English language classroom using cartoons, images and music with a view to enhance students’ skills in academic writing, critical analysis of image and critical appreciation of music. For this purpose, cartoons in English language, images from Google and music from You Tube have got focused discussion in this paper.

This article analyses the impact of constitutional referendums on the political system in Italy. There were three constitutional referendums conducted in 2001, 2006 and 2016. All of them have been organised by the ruling parties, however, only the first one was successful. In the subsequent referendums, the proposals for amending the constitution have been rejected by voters. The article finds that lack of public support for the government resulted in voting „no” in the referendum.
