Background. The article is devoted to the creative activity of the outstanding Chinese composer, pianist, teacher and public figure Zhang Zhao (born in 1964). The musical heritage of Zhang Zhao covers a wide range of genres and includes symphonic, piano music, instrumental compositions, works for Chinese traditional instruments, vocal, chamber music, ballets, music of cinema and television programs, and music for large social events. Despite his notoriety in China, the United States, Canada and many European countries, Zhang Zhao is little known in Ukraine. Thus, Ukrainian musicians to date have been deprived of the opportunity to get acquainted with his work. Since the music of Zhang Zhao sounds in many countries of the world, it resonates powerfully in a variety of areas, and in particular, research. To date, the work of the composer is actively studied by Chinese musicologists. However, among the publications, small articles devoted to a narrow range of problems predominate. Large-scale studies devoted to any area of his music have not yet been created. One of the most important topics relating to the composer’s work is the study of his views on musical art. Zhang Zhao’s vision of the further development of Chinese piano art reveals the composer’s worldview, his creative credo. This question is decisive for studying the composer’s musical heritage, defining his genre-style priorities. Objectives. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of Zhang Zhao’s artistic worldview in order to promote the fullest possible identification of the ideas of the composer, the disclosure of the artistic concepts of his works. Methods of research are based on a set of scientific approaches necessary for the disclosure of its theme. The complex approach, combining the principle of musical-theoretical, musical-historical and performing analysis, is taken as the basis of the methodology. Results. Important for the disclosure of the creative worldview of the composer is the study of his statements on the ways of further development of musical art. His attitude and vision of his role in this process, the Chinese musician has repeatedly stated in an interview with domestic journalists. According to Zhang Zhao, the main issue that should concern modern composers is the place of the musical art of their country in world culture. Zhang Zhao found in the face of the pianist virtuoso his Yundi Li adherent. The collaboration between the composer and the performer began in 2011. Zhang Zhao took part in a large-scale theatrical performance at the Third Congress of BRICS leaders in Sanya. Then Yundi Li performed on the stage of the concert hall of Zhang Zhao’s play “In the most remote place” and “Chinese piano dream”. Zhang Zhao is committed to the concept of inheritance and the promotion of a culture of national music. The Chinese compare Zhang Zhao with the outstanding leader of the Polish people Chopin, who dedicated his life to the transformation in piano music of various genres. Piano works by Zhang Zhao adorned the world culture with the introduction of Chinese national motives into it. The composer introduced listeners to the air melodic lines of original works and filled his works with a complex texture, making them attractive for acquaintance with the rich traditional culture of China. Developing national piano art, Zhang Zhao inscribes the Chinese chapter in the world culture with his inherent passion and love for life. In addition to studying composition, performing and teaching, Zhang Zhao, is active in public activities, being a music professor at the Central University for Nationalities. He pays great attention to the development of the artistic taste of students, shares his own musical ideas and aesthetic principles. The composer made great efforts and energy to create the “Chinese piano dream”. To popularize this work, they, together with Yundi Li and the Shanghai People’s Orchestra conducted nationwide tours, visited Taiwan, and outlined other projects. Despite the fact that Professor Zhang Zhao has a very tight work schedule, he nevertheless finds time to talk with his students about the place of national music and its prospects. In the “Chinese Piano Dream”, the composer sought to reflect the essence of the musical culture of the Chinese nation. He embodied the dreams of the older generation of pianist composers and performers about the perfection of the Chinese piano scene, set a high goal – to show the artistic value of the Chinese piano piece on the world stage, took on the mission to inherit the national culture and pass it on to the next generations. In the works of Zhang Zhao, the interests of the Chinese and global world level intersect. This is due to the amazing richness of the composer’s creative worldview, which is open to everything significant in life and art. On this basis, the composer came to important conclusions about the role of contemporary classical musical art in people’s lives in China and in the world. Conclusions. For more than twenty years, Zhang Zhao is in the creative search for his musical style. He carefully investigated the development of ethnic music, which enabled him to create his piano works, which are distinguished by a unique and mature language.

The slowdown in economic growth in the world was noted back in 2019, and in early 2020 it intensified due to the coronavirus pandemic. The large-scale decline in economic activity because of the closure of many leading economies affected all countries, disrupting the usual way of life and business mechanisms. Regulators and governments were forced to urgently implement a wide range of support measures. At the same time, the root causes of the current crisis lie outside the economic or financial sphere, which makes it different from the previous ones. Uncertainty is complemented by the fact that the traditional relations in the economy and in society are fundamentally changing. The established global supply chains are disrupted, the nature of labor relations is beginning to change, and the remote access regime is increasingly practiced. Economies are losing the ability to function as self-sufficient systems and require more and more support measures. As of the end of 2020, the likelihood of a second wave of the pandemic is quite high, while its duration and scale are still unclear; the prospects for further development of the world economy are becoming more and more uncertain, and the scale and mechanisms of stabilization of the situation are becoming more diverse and non-standard.

Rootstock breeding programs in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Japan have all released apple rootstocks in the recent past that are potentially important to the worldwide apple industry in the next century. Several of these programs are continuing to breed new rootstocks. Each program has focused on different breeding objectives, thus giving a wide range of horticultural characteristics among this new group of rootstocks. All programs have focused on the horticulturally important traits of productivity, dwarfing and precocity but certain programs have also emphasized other characteristics such as propagability, stress tolerance, disease resistance or insect resistance. Commercialization of this new group of rootstocks is proceeding at an extremely fast pace due to the worldwide networking of fruit tree nursery companies and the use of plant patents. This presents a large job for research and extension personnel to properly test rootstocks for adaptability to different growing areas before they are planted on a large scale. The national rootstock testing project (NC-140) composed of researchers from most apple growing states and provinces in the U.S. and Canada is collecting rootstocks from around the world and conducting uniform field trials that give performance data from a wide variety of climates and soils. This information becomes the basis for local rootstock recommendations in North America. This presentation reviews the most promising rootstocks from around the world and summarize the research information from North American and worldwide trials.

Every few decades, the world order changes due to various geopolitical, economic and other circumstances. For example, as a result of globalization, the world order has undergone significant changes in the last forty years. Globalization has led to the destruction of the postwar world order, as well as to world leadership by the United States and the West. However, in recent decades, as a result of globalization, the U.S. and the West began to cede their leadership to developing countries, so there is now a change in the economic structure of relations in the world system. Today the center of economic growth is in the East, namely in Asia. There are no new superpowers in the world at the moment, but the unipolar world will cease to exist due to the weakening of the U. S. leadership, which will lead to a change in the world order. A new leader, which may replace the U. S., will not have as wide range of advantages as the USA has. Most likely, the essence of the new order will be to unite the largest countries and alliances into blocks, for example, the USA together with the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the EU, etc. The article outlines forecasts of GDP growth rates as well as the global energy outlook; analyzes the LNG market as well as the impact of the pandemic on the global oil and gas market; and lists the characteristics of U. S. geopolitics.

It is clear to everyone that investment in the agricultural sector in developing countries is one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and hunger in the world. Agricultural investment can generate a wide range of development opportunities. However, these benefi ts cannot be expected to arise automatically. Some forms of large-scale investment pose significant risks to investor states. It should be noted, however, that, despite discussions about the potential benefits and risks of international investment, there is still no evidence of negative actual consequences for the countries receiving investments. This article examines the issues of investment activity in relation to developing countries using the example of US agribusiness entities.

Early studies show that the COVID-19 pandemic causes the rally-around-the-flag effect and increases the level of nationalism among the voters after the outbreak. However, how long does this boost last? Voters may cognitively withdraw their identification to the beloved country if the pandemic is rampant in where they live as well as when the government fails to address it thoroughly. We conducted a pre-registered MTurk experiment (n = 606) on 20 April 2020, in the United States—3 months after the first confirmed case and weeks after the large-scale lockdown. Results show that US subjects who were primed of the COVID-19 in the United States significantly decreased their level of nationalism, especially among Democrats. In contrast, the priming of “COVID-19 in the world” has no effect. The negative impact of COVID-19 on nationalism could be explained by enough time as people could observe and evaluate the government’s performance after the outbreak through the partisan lens.

Centrifugal shakers are widely regarded as state-of-the-art testing facilities of geotechnical earthquake engineering for providing an effective solution for the unequal gravity stress between models and prototypes typically in traditional test methods. Currently only two large centrifugal shakers are in the United States and Japan respectively, whereas no one has been established in China. Such situation remarkably lags behind the serious seismic conditions and the world largest construction scale of civil engineering in China. Due to the lack of experiences and the lot of difficulty, one significant task of large scale centrifugal shaker construction is tracking study on the world advanced facilities. The paper outlines the technology parameters and components of the two existing large centrifugal shakers. Through investigating and comparing the structural characteristics of the two facilities, the differences between the two are summed up and analyzed. The analyses indicate that key technologies mainly centre upon centrifuge arms, centrifuge buckets, exciting devices, power sources and guide-support devices. The results can provide assistance and reference to the construction of foreign and domestic large scale centrifugal shakers.

The preconditions, causes and peculiarities of the global financial and economic crisis created the basis for the withdrawal of central banks from their traditional limited range of instruments of monetary influence on the economy and the transition to the active use of unconventional monetary policy measures. The Federal Reserve was the first central bank which used the unconventional measures of monetary policy as a key factor in overcoming the recession and bringing the US economy to a sustainable growth path. The traditional instruments of monetary regulation during the period of aggravation of financial crisis on the money markets turned out complete ineffective, that had the destructive consequences for the economy. That is why so important is the analysis of the reasons for this ineffectiveness and the necessity of use of unconventional instruments. The practical mechanism of using such unconventional instruments of the Fed includes such as large-scale asset purchases and FOMC’s forward guidance about intentions. And it is hard to underestimate the role of these tools in the withdrawal of the American economy from the state of recession. Also important are innovative credit policy programs that have been used by the Federal Reserve during the period of growing crisis, in terms of increasing the effective ness of its impact on the financial stabilization of the banking system, providing markets with liquidity and stimulating domestic demand. The use of unconventional monetary policy instruments aims to achieve a wide range of strategic goals that include not only price stability but also economic growth and low unemployment. Thus, based on the powerful influence of the Fed’s monetary policy on the dynamics of the main economic parameters, it is expedient to apply a dual mandate in formulating the strategic goals of the central bank.

One of the main conditions for the Russian economy transition to growth rates above the global average is large-scale investment. The so-called «smart investments» are important for the accelerated economic development of Russia. Only a restricted range of states is a source of «smart investment». France is among them and it is a long-standing economic partner of Russia. French business implements long-term projects in Russia. After the economic sanctions being introduced, not a single company has left Russia; however, new investors do not come from France, and the operating investors evaluate the prospects for continuing work very carefully. As there is the economic sanctions mode, lending agencies in France, being afraid of losing their business in the United States, refuse to finance projects in Russia, even if they are not included into the sanctions list. Local manufacturing content of French companies still does not cover a wide range of areas in Russia, being limited mainly to agriculture. Compared to French, Russia’s investment contribution to France is disproportionately small. The article examines the factors determining the direct investment of France in Russia; the current investment agenda of French business in Russia; identifies the prospects for France’s investment participation in the Russian economy

The article considers a set of problems related to the study of piano art of the early XXth century and, in particular, the piano work of Mykola Roslavets. It provides the characteristic of the main vectors of piano miniature development, its genre and construction diversity. It emphasizes the composers' creative search in the early XXth century, the desire to embody new, not yet tested compositional techniques. The article notes the influence of traditional and avant-garde trends on the compositional style of that time and their synthesis in a single author's style. It describes five preludes for piano by Mykola Roslavets as one of the most significant achievements of the mature period of the artist's work, which fully reveals the key features of the composer's sense and desire for syntheticity and a new, intellectual, system of sound organization. The five preludes are stated to not have an accidental cycle structure reflecting the influence of many styles and compositional techniques, accumulating the achievements of previous musical epochs and sprouts of the latest, quite important musical trends in piano music. The author notes undoubted influence of Mykola Roslavets' work on the further development of musical art, its relevance and modernity. The proposed analysis should contribute to a more complete understanding of the history of piano music of the first third of the XXth century, elucidate the origins of innovative composers, undeservedly overlooked by musicologists, performers and listeners, and replenish the performing repertoire with piano works by Mykola Roslavets.
