Research background: The conducted empirical research on the influence of the degree of ownership concentration in the employee–owned companies on their sales revenues thematically fits into the issue of efficiency of the direct privatisation method, in particular giving a state–owned enterprise for use against payment. Purpose of the article: The main goal of this article is to verify the research hypothesis stating that in employee–owned companies an increase in the degree of ownership concentration leads to an increase in sales revenues. Methods: The empirical studies were carried out on a sample of 15 employee-owned companies from Mazowieckie Province, which concluded the agreement of giving a state–owned enterprise for use against payment from 2000 to 2004 and using the data from financial statements handed in by these entities to the National Court Register for a ten–year period after the privatisation year. The verification of research hypothesis was based on the estimation of a Cobb–Douglas production function by Ordinary Least Squares method for two variants, differing in the way of measuring the degree of ownership concentration in investigated employee–owned companies. Findings & Value added: The research hypothesis formulated in this paper was verified negatively as the increase in the degree of ownership concentration in employee–owned companies caused the decrease in their sales revenues. The conducted empirical research also suggests that sales revenues in examined employee–owned companies peak at some intermediate/optimal level of ownership concentration.

The extensive body of literature on mentoring has largely ignored the developmental needs of mentors themselves. This conceptual and practice-oriented paper asks mentors and others to consider the needs of mentors who may or may not arrive ready to deal with the challenges of being effective mentors. The authors ask: how should mentors think about their own growth and development? Drawing on a broad spectrum of academic literatures, three frames are proposed for guiding mentors’ thinking about themselves and four practices to spur their continuous improvement. The three frames are a simultaneous dual focus on people and tasks as mentors exercise leadership; an inclusive mind-set that works across the multidimensionality of identities in others and themselves; and a keen sense of the threats and rewards of managing the perceptions of others. We recommend the use of four practices for self-examination: engage in structured self-reflection; participate in standardized assessments to see others and one’s self differently; build peer support among colleagues; and ask for feedback in concrete terms. We conclude by offering the benefits and challenges as mentors engage in the difficult work of acquiring in-depth self-awareness.

Introduction The Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the global community, leading to restrictive measures in all areas of activity, including sports. Starting with March 2020, most physical activities have ceased, due to the establishment of the state of emergency in Romania. Swimmers were restricted from accessing their main training facilities and were no longer allowed access to the pools. After a more sedentary period, in which each of us tried to adapt to the existing situation, the need to be involved in sports, the need for movement, and the need for socialization was growing. Thus, the instructors tried to find out alternatives to continue athletes training, so they do not completely lose their physical fitness. Some managed to continue their training in the water, at other pools, others organized workouts outside the pool, maintaining their physical condition at an optimal level. In fewer cases, coaches continued training with athletes online. The purpose of this study was to discover the training strategies applied by swimming coaches during the pandemic, during the State of emergency and the Alert state, in Cluj-Napoca. The results of our study can be used, in the future, by students, teachers and instructors to better reorganize their physical activities, especially swimming, when a special situation arises again.
