In this paper, we wanted to check if classical music can improve the intellectual and practical skills of those who work in very difficult conditions. For this, we exposed 44 male students, aged 21-24, with normal BMI (19-24), in perfect health, to four types of stressors, when there is classical music as a sic sound background and when we have no music. The stressors used were  vibration, excessive temperature, and humidity as well as very strong light. Two pieces of music were chosen as background: "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" (Mozart) and "Minuetto" (Boccherini). These 2 musical works were chosen because they are cheerful, optimistic, written in an alert rhythm, easily recognizable even if the audience is not music lovers. Students’ performance was measured using 3 tests: the Purdue Pegboard Test, the Stroop Color and Word Test and also Comparing of Names Test. The results show that neither Mozart's music nor Boccherini's music led to an improvement in student performances; on the contrary, better results were obtained when it was silence.

The article deals with the impact of various harmonic vibrations of the musical range on the productivity (yield) of farm animals. Intensification of animal husbandry is impossible without automation and mechanization of production. Along with this, the use of machine milking for cattle (cattle) often becomes another cause of mass animal diseases. For example, mastitis, along with numerous other causes, is often caused by milking machines, which because of their uniformity do not always correspond to both size and shape of the mammary gland of different cows. The relevance of this issue is increasing in connection with the intensification of modern livestock and the replacement of the relationship “man-animal” to the more rigid “man-machine-animal” relationship. At the same time, we must remember that the cow - a creature extremely pedantic, easily irritable, knows its milkmaid well, and it is only necessary to replace this milkmaid with another one, as I immediately begin to fall down. To reduce the stress state of cattle, it is possible to use, for example, classical music, which leads to an increase in the amount of milk in mammals. Together with this, under the influence of rock music, it drops sharply. This influence is explained by the fact that different ranges of acoustic harmonic oscillations resonate with different parts of the brain or organs of the body. We studied the influence of four types of musical works (tracks), differing from each other by the intensity of low, medium and high frequencies. These are works by P.I. Tchaykovskiy, A. Mozart, Indian tracks and works performed on the violin. Studies have shown that there is a difference in the milk yield obtained in the control, as well as in the use of musical works. The greatest effect was obtained using the works of A. Mozart, consisting in increasing the milk yield by 15 ... 18% compared with the control. The carried out technical and economic calculations confirmed the profitability of the proposed measures for the application of harmonic variations in the musical range to increase the productivity of Holstein cows.

The original music conservatories were orphanages. Through innovative teaching methods the masters of these old institutions were able to transform poor and often illiterate castoffs into elite musicians, many of whom became famous in the history of classical music. The book tells the story of how this was done. It shows what the lessons were like, what a typical day was like for an orphan, and how children progressed from simple lessons to ones more advanced than any seen today in colleges and universities. Recent rediscoveries of thousands of the old lessons have allowed us to understand how children’s minds were systematically developed to be able to “think” in music. That is, the lessons slowly built up the mental ability to imagine the interplay of two or more voices or instruments. Today we think of Mozart as having a miraculous ability to imagine musical works in his head, but in truth many of the conservatory graduates of that era had attained a similar level of controlled musical imagination. They could improvise for hours at the keyboard, and they could quickly compose whole works for ensembles. The book is accompanied by 100 YouTube videos so that readers can hear what the lessons sounded like.

In the ‘Proceedings of the Royal Society’ (xviii. p. 362, xix. p. 73) are some observations by the late Count Wollowicz and myself on the effect of alcohol, brandy, and claret on the elimination of nitrogen. As the experiments were on one man, I have taken an opportunity of repeating them on another person; and as the late observations of Dr. Austin Flint (junior) on a man who walked 317 miles in five days have appeared to some persons to run counter to the now generally accepted view that exercise produces either no change or only insignificant changes in the urea, I have combined experiments on exercise with those on alcohol. With respect, however, to Dr. Austin Flint’s experiments, it would appear that while the egress of nitrogen was determined with the greatest accuracy, the amount taken in was for the most part merely estimated by reference to Payen’s Tables, and therefore there is no certainty that the ingress was what it is assumed to have been. The food also was very varied, so that the difficulty of properly estimating the nitrogen was still more increased. The following experiments were made on a soldier, W. D., aged 30. I He is a powerfully built man, 5 feet 6 inches in height, and measuring 40 inches round the chest. As a young man, he had been employed in a distillery near Glasgow, and at that time drank largely of whisky, some times taking half a piut before breakfast. For the last ten years, since he t has been in the army, he has been very temperate, taking chiefly beer in moderate quantities, and only occasionally spirits. He bears the character of a very steady soldier, and has always had perfect health, with the exception of an attack of “spotted typhus” six years ago. He has never served abroad.

When faced with the artistic-musical concepts developed in the second half of the twentieth century, it is common to observe them from the perspective of the scientific advances they have promoted or resulted from, the abstract organizations in which they are based, the aesthetic principles they create or and almost always fall within the individuality of the interpretation present in the creative act and its representativeness, regardless of the support in which it presents itself. Paradoxically, some of the main classical musical works written in the last quarter of the twentieth century resulted from the musicological study and/or musical representation of concepts, rites, religious practices representative of different cultures of the West and especially the East. In this sense, throughout the present article will be addressed works by composers of Western classical music, such as the case of Jonathan Harvey and Tristan Murail, characteristics of the musical currents that fit, from serialism to spectralism, as well as acoustic and electronic casts, which result. reinterpretations of religious practices of Hinduism and Buddhism, as well as sound behaviors of the communicative practice of peoples, such as the songs and instruments of Tibet and Mongolia.

Although performance anxiety is a common problem in life, there are only a few studies on this subject in Malaysia. This article presents the expansion to the body of literature on this important relationship between performance anxiety in Western Classical Music. Millions of people suffer and may experience from performance anxiety, which commonly called as ‘stage fright’. Worst of all, it may prevent a musician from doing what they enjoy or quit from performing which can effect the career. The knowledge affecting to symptoms and signs anxiety during adolescence among students could help if possible areas can be highlighted for the mediating and prevention on the subjects which may assist Malaysian youths in the university setting so they can control the emotions and reduce the anxiety

1. The upper thermal death-point of the slow worm (Anguis fragilis) is significantly above that of either the toad (Bufo bufo) or the frog (Rana temporaria). That of the toad differs only slightly from that of the frog. 2. In response to external variation with respect to temperature and humidity, the body temperature of the toad behaves in a manner similar to that of the frog, being considerably below that of the air at low humidities, though appreciably above that of the wet-bulb thermometer. It is concluded that the toad loses water as freely as the frog. 3. The body temperature of the slow worm and that of the alligator (A. mississippiensis) differs only slightly from that of the air under all conditions of sustained air temperature and humidity. 4. The body temperature reaction of the alligator is more sluggish than that of the slow worm, presumably owing to the higher thermal capacity of the animal. 5. The significance of these results in relation to the evolution of the terrestrial vertebrates is discussed. It is suggested that homoeothermic stocks could arise only from reptiles of relatively small size, and that large body size would militate against survival during periods of low mean external temperature.

Recently I was advising a small group of students who were preparing to take the national exam that would qualify them for the position of music teacher at a secondary school. One part of the exam involves a comparative commentary on three musical works relating to a topic chosen by the candidate. Everyone involved in music education in France knows that the Music Department at the National Education Ministry (Inspection Générale de la Musique) has always been concerned with combatting social and cultural inequalities, and that classical music must be presented to younger generations with the least possible chronological and historical context in the name of cultural relativism. (This remarkable ideal, filtered through each successive stage of the educational system, sometimes inspires students to write that Louis XIV ordered Lully to compose operas in order to reduce the nobility to slavery – a radical reading of Norbert Elias indeed. But this is not my topic here.)

AbstractAim: The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the association of the Body Mass Index (BMI) and quality of life (QoL) components in students aged 19 to 22 that attended physical education classes once a week during a whole semester. The students come from different faculties of the West University of Timişoara. Methods: The research was conducted during the physical education classes to which they participated during one semester. The research has begun in October 2018 and ended in January 2019. A total of 400 students were asked to participate in this study, 200 female and 200 male students. As research methods, we used the RAND 36 Item Short Form Health Survey SF-36 questionnaire to assess the quality of life, as well as the statistical-mathematical method. Results: Our results showed that 66% of the students had a normal BMI, 12% are underweight, 17% are overweight and 12% are obese. It has been found that the quality of life score does not depend on the body mass index. No correlation has been found between the QOL total score and BMI in neither male students r=0.035, R²=0.0012, p=0.62, nor female students r=-0.01, R²<0.001, p=0.88.
