The article is devoted to the research and analysis of the characteristics of the impact and prevalence of computer addiction among teenagers. The main causes and preconditions for computer addiction are clarified; indicators that state the occurance and presence of computer addiction among adolescents, which are distinguished in clinical, psychological and socio-psychological aspects are singled out and reviwed. Based on the experimental data, the following criteria of computer addiction are proposed: dominance, tolerance, compulsiveness, "withdrawal" syndrome, social maladaptation. The results of a sociological study on this issue are presented and interpreted. The main factors of computer addiction in adolescence are identified as follows: psychological, socio-psychological, social. Ways to overcome computer addiction and prevent its occurrence, as well as methods of rational approach to working with computers in the educational environment are outlined. It was found that computer addiction among teenagers is characterized by the replacement of real life with virtual, when there is an underestimation and ignoring of other areas of social life. The psychological and physical symptoms of Internet addiction are considered, including the major indicators that can be observed and verified by educators, psychologists, parents in order to diagnose computer addiction among teenagers, as well as to determine ways to prevent and correct it.

19532 Background: Despite their beneficial antitumor effects, 75–87% patients who undergo EGFRI therapy develop dermatological toxicities (derm tox), including rash, paronychia, hair alterations, and pruritus. The purpose of this study was to develop a patient (pts) self-report questionnaire based on pts and expert (exp) input and to identify the most significant skin tox health-related quality of life (HRQL) factors. Methods: To generate the questionnaire, 20 pts with derm tox to EGFRIs and 12 expert clinicians (>50 treated pts) were asked interview questions and rated 62 items to assess the most bothersome aspects of derm tox and the impact on pts’ skin-specific HRQL. The questionnaire included items from the Skindex-29, a validated skin disease-specific HRQL questionnaire. Items were rated from 0 (not at all important) to 3 (extremely important) (range = 0–3) based on the items’ significance to patients’ HRQL. Both groups were also asked to circle 20 of the most concerning HRQL factors. Results: Eighteen pts and 11 exp completed the questionnaire. Symptoms reported frequently by both pts and exp that affected patients’ HRQL included painful (mean score 2.29 (pts), 2.70, (exp), burning (2.41 (pts), 2.70 (exp)), itchy (2.00 (pts), 2.20 (exp) skin, pain in fingers/toes (2.00 (pts), 2.40 (exp)) increased facial hair (1.93(pts), 1.70 (exp)). Both pts and exp also frequently reported that the patient’s skin condition makes them feel depressed (1.88 (pts), 2.60 (exp)) and makes work or hobbies difficult (2.00 (pts), 2.20 (exp)). The top three most concerning HRQL factors for pts were skin pain, burning and stinging, and irritation, while exp reported depression, skin pain, and derm tox affecting pts’ social life. Conclusions: These results document the trajectory of symptom burden and derm tox HRQL in EGFRI treated pts. These findings underscore that in addition to the psychosocial discomfort, physical symptoms impact HRQL. Further studies to validate the FAST-EGFRI, so that effects on HRQL of interventions against derm tox and differences between agents can be assessed are underway. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

Psychological well-being has become one of the crucial aspects of modern psychology. It has attracted not only psychologists but also medical practitioners in compliance with the mental health, emotions, depression, stress, etc. of the individual’s academic and social life. Right from the existence of behavioral sciences, efforts have been made by researchers of different disciplines to get a deep understanding of the various and different dimensions and correlates of psychological well-being. Social media platforms are an online association site where individuals cooperate to construct, offer and change their thought and remarks concerning any data. Over the past decade, online long distance social networking communication has brought significant changes in the way people communicate and collaborate. The study aimed to determine the impact of social media’s early health issues such as student depression and anxiety. A descriptive study was conducted among Tertiary level educated students in Visakhapatnam with a sample of 130 respondents. It included questions on demographical information, the pattern of social networking usage, social relationship, and health effects. Results: Present study results found that there is a significant association between time spent on social media and the number of social networking apps. There is a positive correlation between Depression feelings with serious active on social networking apps than in real life. Conclusion: This study concludes that more usage of social networking sites is affecting the Tertiary school student’s well-being such as depression and anxiety.

The ‘turn’ to practice in social theory is proving influential in the sociological study of consumption (following Warde, 2005). This article joins current debates that appraise the contributions of this growing body of work, specifically its relationship with – and possible mode of succession to – cultural studies of consumption. It considers two claims about the impact and status of practice theoretic repertoires in consumption scholarship (Warde, 2014). First, that they invite greater attention than the cultural turn to objects and technologies as material forces. Second, that they have not yet found ways to locate consumption in the context of wider economic processes. My central argument is that theories of practice offer a partial reading of materiality, and that engagement with a greater range of material semiotic approaches can help in making better links between consumption and economy. This argument is illustrated through reference to market agencements, the social life of things, and ontological politics. I suggest these perspectives are compatible with practice theoretic approaches and that taken together, they represent some promising responses to a suite of fundamental challenges confronting consumption studies. I conclude that theories of practice – plural – have not yet run their course as an approach to consumption and economy. The parameters of consumption scholarship are also considered alongside the relationships between political economy and cultural analysis.

Poverty with inadequate care prolongs duration of ulcers healing with attendant complications. The impact of this on the quality of life of patients in an economic depleted environment needs to be evaluated. Quality of life of patients with chronic leg ulcers was assessed using validated Cardiff wound impact schedule questionnaires in two teaching Hospitals in Nigeria. The result was analyzed using SPSS Version 17 with frequencies and means. Post traumatic ulcers were the most common cause of chronic leg ulcers (33.7%), followed by diabetes mellitus (31.3%),venous ulcers (16.9%), and sickle cell ulcers (4.8%). Tropical ulcers and others like vasculitis and chronic osteomyelitis accounted for 13.3%. The ulcers have deleterious effects on the patients’ occupation, finances, mobility and social interaction with negative self-image. All the symptoms assessed significantly correlated with overall quality of life (QoL). However, physical symptoms dimension is the most highly correlated with QoL score, followed by social life dimension. The least correlated is wellbeing dimension. Symptoms associated with chronic leg ulcer tend to have negative impact on quality of life of these patients. Therefore, these should be borne in mind and incorporated in the management of these patients.

The  article  is  focused  on  theoretical  argumentation  of the  dialogue  as  a  mechanism  for  personality  axiogenesis in  educational process and separation of essential dialogue aspects in higher educational environment.  The author argues that general cultural orientations are main goals of modern higher education in the context of its  humanization. This allows to replace the actual cognitive approach with sense creation one, where both teacher and  student are active subjects of educational dialogue. It is shown that educational dialogue is an external stimulus of  internal initiation of personal and professional formation in future specialists, as well as formation of their value- semantic sphere. The level of dialogue in educational environment can serve as a measure of implementation of  personality and developmental potential in education. On the basis of empirical research it is determined that  dogmatism,  formalization  of  educational  process,  and  closeness,  stereotyped  role  of  teachers’  and  students’  behavior  are  the  greatest  obstacles  for  educational  environment  becoming  more  dialogue  driven  in  real-life  educational process.

It is widely recognised that hypertension is a major risk factor for the development of future cardiovascular (CV) events, which in turn are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Blood pressure (BP) control with antihypertensive drugs has been shown to reduce the risk of CV events. Angiotensin-II receptor blockers (ARBs) are one such class of antihypertensive drugs and randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have shown ARB-based therapies to have effective BP-lowering properties. However, data obtained under these tightly controlled settings do not necessarily reflect actual experience in clinical practice. Real-life databases may offer alternative information that reflects an uncontrolled real-world setting and complements and expands on the findings of clinical trials. Recent analyses of practice-based real-life databases have shown ARB-based therapies to be associated with better persistence and adherence rates and with superior BP control than non-ARB-based therapies. Analyses of real-life databases also suggest that ARB-based therapies may be associated with a lower risk of CV events than other antihypertensive-drug-based therapies.

Currently, the increase in the efficiency of pharmacy organizations is due to the efficiency of team management. Each pharmacy organization strives to strengthen the workforce and monitors staff turnover rates, because this can affect the economic results of the organization. The most effective tool for preventing the layoff of staff turnover. This article presents the results of a sociological study of the factors that lead pharmaceutical workers to change jobs. The objects of the study were pharmaceutical workers of pharmaceutical organizations of various organizational and legal forms in Moscow. The methodological basis of the research was formed by general theoretical methods of information processing: analysis, systematization, grouping, comparison and generalization. Based on the analysis of 214 questionnaires of pharmaceutical workers, the frequency of job changes was revealed, and this indicator wa s studied depending on the length of service. It was found that pharmaceutical workers with higher education are more committed to the pharmaceutical industry, but at the same time, one in three of them expressed a desire to change jobs while remaining in the profession. The analysis of value-oriented factors made it possible to identify the main reasons leading pharmaceutical workers to change jobs.

This survey of research on psychology in five volumes is a part of a series undertaken by the ICSSR since 1969, which covers various disciplines under social science. Volume One of this survey, Cognitive and Affective Processes, discusses the developments in the study of cognitive and affective processes within the Indian context. It offers an up-to-date assessment of theoretical developments and empirical studies in the rapidly evolving fields of cognitive science, applied cognition, and positive psychology. It also analyses how pedagogy responds to a shift in the practices of knowing and learning. Additionally, drawing upon insights from related fields it proposes epithymetics–desire studies – as an upcoming field of research and the volume investigates the impact of evolving cognitive and affective processes in Indian research and real life contexts. The development of cognitive capability distinguishes human beings from other species and allows creation and use of complex verbal symbols, facilitates imagination and empowers to function at an abstract level. However, much of the vitality characterizing human life is owed to the diverse emotions and desires. This has made the study of cognition and affect as frontier areas of psychology. With this in view, this volume focuses on delineating cognitive scientific contributions, cognition in educational context, context, diverse applications of cognition, psychology of desire, and positive psychology. The five chapters comprising this volume have approached the scholarly developments in the fields of cognition and affect in innovative ways, and have addressed basic as well applied issues.
