The objective of this study was to determine the effect off sambung nyawa (Gynura procumbens) juice in drinking water on broiler performance (feed consumption, aver-ege daily gain, feed conversion and persentasion carcass). The research is used 200 broiler Hybro strains from PT. Manggis, were allocated into 4 treatments and 5 replications consisting of 10 broiler. Maintenance of the chicken is done for 28 days. The treatment was juice sambung nyawa with each concentration : T0 (without the addition of sambung nyawa juice), T1 (addition of 10 sambung nyawa juice in 1000 ml of drinking water), T2 (addition of 20 sambung nyawa juice in 1000 ml of drinking water) and T3 (addition of 30 sambung nyawa juice in 1000 ml of drinking water). Parameters observed in this study is broiler performance (feed consumption, aver-ege daily gain, feed conversion and persentasion carcass). The result from a completely randomized design were analyzed using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance / ANOVA) and if significant difference test followed by Duncan continued. The result showed that the addition of sambung nyawa juice at different levels (10, 20 and 30 ml) in the drinking water of broilers was highly did not affect (P > 0.05) on broiler performance (feed consumption, aver-ege daily gain, feed conversion and persentasion carcass).Keyword : Sambung Nyawa Juice, Performance Broiler.

UTILIZATION OF “GEDI LEAF (Abelmoschus Manihot (L) Medik) AS“ADDITIVE” IN DRINKING WATER RELATED TO THE PERFORMANCE OF INDONESIAN SUPER NATIVE CHICKEN. Research was done to evaluate the performance of Indonesian super native chicken treated with “Gedi” leaf (Abelmoschus Manihot (L) Medik) as“Additive” in drinking water. Study was conducted using hundred individuals of the Indonesian super native day old chicken. The juice of “Gedi” leaf (Abelmoschus Manihot (L) Medik) was given as in forms of the four treatments as follows, drinking water without “Gedi” leaf as control (P0), drinking water with 10 ml juice of “Gedi” leaf per liter of drinking water (P1), drinking water with 20 ml juice of “Gedi” leaf per liter of drinking water (P2), and drinking water with 30 ml juice of “Gedi” leaf per liter of drinking water (P3). Treatments were applied to the birds at 6 weeks old by completely randomized design five replications at each treatment. Data were taken during 5 weeks. Feeds were using 73 percents of commercial feed added by 10 percents of corn and 17 percents of rice bran with nutritional composition of crude protein 19.49 percents, crude fiber 4.66 percents, fat 3.63 percents, Calcium 1.02 percents, Phosphorus 0.66 percents and metabolic energy of 2920 kcal/kg, all given ad libitum. Variables measurement were focused on feed consumption, drinking water consumption, average daily gain, and feed conversion. Results showed that drinking water with 30 ml juice of “Gedi” leaf per liter of drinking water (P3) was not significantly different with other treatments for feed and drinking water consumption, except for average daily gain and feed conversion. The treatments of P1 and P2 were not significantly different for average daily gain, but these treatments were higher in average daily gain compared with control (P0). The highest value of feed conversion was obtained at treatment P3 and the lowest value was found at treatment P1. These values indicated that the best feed conversion was treatment P1. Therefore, it can be concluded that juice of “Gedi” leaf can be used as the alternative additive feed in drinking water up to 20 ml juice of “Gedi” leaf per liter of drinking water in term of high average daily gain and feed conversion of Indonesian super native chicken. Key words: Drinking water, “Gedi” leaf, Indonesian super native chicken.

ABSTRACT EFFECT OF SUBSTITUTION OF YELLOW CORN WITH BANANA (Musa paradisiaca) PEELS IN THE DIETS ON BROILER PEERFORMANCE. A study has been conducted to determine the effect of substitution of yellow corn with banana (Musa paradisiaca) peels in the diets on broiler performance. The present study used 60 broiler chicks and reared for 5 weeks. A Completely Randomized Design was used as an experimental design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0: diet without substitution of banana peels or 0% in the diet; R1: diet with the substitution of 7,5% or 4,28% in the diet; R2: diet with the substitution of 15,0% or 8,55% in the diet; and R3: diet with the substitution of 22,5% or 12,83% in the diet. Variables measured were: daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion. Research results showed that daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversionratio were all significantly (P < 0,05) affected by treatments. Daily feed consumption at R3 significantly (P < 0,05) lower compared with R0 and R1 treatments, but no differences (P > 0,05) were observed  between R2 and R3. No significant (P > 0,05) was observed between R0 and R1, but there was a significant difference (P < 0,05) between R2 and R3 and between R1 and R2. Feed conversion ratio was significantly (P < 0,05) lower for R0 compared with R1, R2 and R3, but no differences (P > 0,05) were observed among R0, R1, and R2 treatments. It can be concluded that banana (Musaparadisiaca) peels meal can be used up to 15% replacing yellow corn or 8,55% in broiler diet. <p>This experiment was conducted to observe the effects of opening and closing of house on the Ongole Crossbred cattle’s comfort and performances. Nine bulls were divided into three groups of housing. The first group was taken care in the house which was opened in the noon and closed in the night (open-closed house), the second was in the closed house, and the third was in the opened house. The experiment was held for 90 days. The data collected were room condition (wind speed, temperature and humidity), physiological conditions, behaviors, feed and water intake, average daily gain and feed conversion. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance for completely randomized design. The analysis was continued by least significant difference test if there were differences. The result showed that wind’s speed in the open-closed house was significantly higher (P&lt;0.05) than that in the closed house in the noon and significantly lower (P&lt;0.05) than that in the opened house in the night. There was no significantly difference on the room’s temperature among three types of house. Room’s humidity in the open-closed housed was significantly lower (P&lt;0.05) than that in the closed house in the daytime and significantly higher (P&lt;0.05) than that in the opened house in the nighttime. There were no significant difference on the cattle’s physiological conditions, behaviors, physiological conditions, behaviors, feed and water intake, average daily gain and feed conversion among three groups. It was<br />concluded that opening in the daytime and closing in the nighttime of house had no effect on the Ongole Cross Breed cattle’s comfort and performances.</p><p><br />(Key words: Open-closed house, Comfort, Performance, Ongole crossbred cattle)<br /><br /></p>

This research which aims to determine the effect of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations in the fermentation diet on growth of broiler has done in Takengon, Central Aceh District from August until October 2020. This research used 160 chicks strain Cobb 89 produced by PT. Charoen Pokphand. This study used a complete randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment of probiotic and Acidifier supplementations were: 0% (A), 0.1% (B), 0.2%(C), 0.3%(D). Parameters observed were achievement of final weight, weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion, and feed efficiency. Data was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test if significant effect was detected. The result showed that the differences in supplementation of probiotic and Acidifiers effected significantly (P <0.05) on the final weight, weight gain, feed conversion and feed efficiency. However, there was no significant effect on rate of consumption. The result of present study showed that the combination of probiotic and Acidifier had a best impact on broiler growth and it was also decreased mortality of chicken.

THE EFFECT OF FRESH MURBEI (Morus alba ) LEAF INCLUSION IN THE DIETS ON BROILER CHICKEN PERFORMANCE. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) substituting part of diets on broiler chicken performance. Sixty broiler chicken aged 3 weeks were used in the present study. The dietary treatments were in Completely Randomized Design arrangement with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Treatments were fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) with several levels of inclusion in the diets    (R0 = 0%, R1 = 2%, R2 = 4%, dan  R3 = 6%). Parameters measured were: daily feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). All data was submitted to the ANOVA procedure for completely randomized design. Differences were considered significant at P < 0.05. Tukey's significant difference test was used to compare means. Research results showed that treatments gave a significant effect on parameters measured. The inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf   (Morus alba) of up to 6% in the diets significantly (P < 0.05) increased daily feed consumption, but significantly (P < 0.05) decreased daily gain, and significantly (P < 0.05) increased feed conversion ratio of brolier chicken in this experiment. It can be concluded that the inclusion of fresh Murbey leaf (Morus alba) of up to 4% in the diets gave the best broiler performance. Ninety head day old chick (DOC) of local village chicken was used in this experiment to evaluate the effect of agricultural by product-based feed supplemented with herbal probiotics (HP) and mud clams extract (MC) on production performance of local village chicken. A completely randomized design was used with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments consisted of control (R0), 0.75%HP+1.5%MC (R1), 1.5%HP+3%MC (R2), 2.25%HP+4.5%MC (R3), and 3.0%HP+6.0%MC (R4). All chicken was kept in a group of five flocks equipped with feeding and water supply apparatus. The results showed that local village chicken got R2 treatment gave a significantly higher response in feed consumption (32.5gd-1) compared to R0 (23.1gd-1), R1 (23.9gd-1), R3 (24.0gd-1), and R4 (21.3gd-1). The daily gain of local village chicken was also significantly higher in R2 treatment (7.4g-1) compared to R0 (4.6gd-1), R1 (4.9gd-1), R3 (4.6gd-1), and R4 treatment (4.1gd-1). However, feed conversion resulted from those treatments did not show a significant difference. The lower feed conversion gain in this experiment has existed in R2 treatment (4.0) followed by treatment R1 (4.9), R0 (5.0), R4 (5.2), and treatment R3 (5.4). Therefore, it was concluded that the treatments had a significant effect on feed consumption and daily gain but had no effect on feed conversion of local village chicken. The inclusion level of 1.5% herbal probiotics and 3% mud clams extract gave better effect on both feed consumption and daily gain of local village chicken.

The objective of the research was to evaluate to effect of feeding mengkudu on performances of broilers. The research design used was completely randomized design. One hundred broilers were distributed into five treatments. The treatments were different levels of mengkudu meal (0, 0.75%, 1.5%, 2.25 % and 3%). The observed measured were feed consumption, average body weight (gain) and feed conversion. Results showed that feeding mengkudu (Morinda Citrifolia L.)  no effect significant (P>0.05) on feed consumption, average body weight and feed conversion.  In conclusion, feeding mengkudu meal up to 3% (in diet) does not negatively affect feed consumption, average body weight, and feed conversion.

THE EFFECT OF PARTLY SUBSTITUTION OF DIET WITH WHITE CHINESE CABBAGE (Brasscia pekinensia L) WASTE PRODUCT ON BIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKEN The present study was conducted to characterize the effect of white Chinese cabbage (Brasscia pekinensia L) waste product as an alternative feed source for broiler chicken.  The experiment was conducted at Faculty of Animal Husbandry’s experimetal station for 21 days using 60 MB-202 broiler chicken. The experiment was started at 21 days of age and terminated at 42 days of age. Birds were allocated to 20 experimental battery cage, 3 birds in each cage. Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications was employed to analyze experimental data. Treatment diets were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet and 0% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R1 = 95% basal diet and 5% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R2 = 90% basal diet and 10% white Chinese cabbage waste product; R3 = 85% basal diet and 15% white Chinese cabbage waste product; and R4 = 80% basal diet and 20% white Chinese cabbage waste product. Parameters measured were: 1) daily feed consumption; 2) daily gain; and 3) feed conversion ratio (FCR). The results of the study during which feed consumption (138,09-141,57g), weight gain (64,95-68,53g), and feed conversion (2,07-2,12). The results showed that partly substitution (up to 20%) of basal diet with white Chinese cabbage waste product gave non significant (P > 0.05) effect on feed consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of broiler chicken. It can be concluded that white Chinese cabbage waste product can be used up to 20% feed gives good results on broiler performance. The Chicken broiler is a type of superior race chicken that has high genetic properties, especially in growth. The use of herbs as medicines in medicine is now starting to increase, which is evident from the many traditional drugs manufacturers on the market. One of the herbs that can be used as an antibiotic for livestock is basil (Ocimum sp). Basil contains beta-carotene (provitamin A), which supports the function of vision, improves antibody function (influences immune function), protein synthesis to support growth process and as the antioxidant (Adnyana and Firmansyah, 2006). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of basil leaves flour up to 12% level against broiler performance. The experiment was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD). The results of statistical analysis showed that the addition of basil meal powder into the feed did not affect to feed consumption between levels (P> 0). The result of the statistical analysis showed that the addition of basil meal powder into the feed had no effect (P> 0,05) to the increase in body weight. The result of the statistical analysis showed that the treatment with the addition of basil powder into the feed had no effect (P> 0,05) to feed conversion. The result of this research can be concluded that the addition of basil powder into feed up to 12% level did not give significantly different effect on production performance such as feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion of the broiler.
