Servical cancer is the most common cancer in women in the world and ranks second most cause of death after cardiovascular disease. Early detection of cervical cancer is done through IVA method. Early detection of servical cancer in Kupang City Health Office in 2017 totaling 1.757 woman and 58 women are positive for cervical precancerous lesions with highest cases in the Bakunase Health Center as many as 38 people. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors of age at first marriage, habits of changing partners, parity and pathological vaginal history of the occurrence of cervical precancerous lesions (IVA +) in Bakunase Health Center Kupang City in 2019. This type of research is an analytic survey with a case control research design. To analyze the relationship between the variables used the chi square test and the magnitude of risk factors calculated Odds Ratio (OR) values. The results showed that there was a relationship between age at first marriage p = 0.038 (OR = 2.979; 95% CI 1.164-7.622), parity p = 0.021 (OR = 3.322; 95% CI: 1.293-8.538), pathological vaginal discharge p = 0.021 ( OR = 3,375; 95% CI: 1,303-8,744), while the habit of changing sexual partners is not a risk factor associated with the incidence of precancerous cervical lesions p = 0.358 (OR = 4.353; 95% CI 0.463-40.898. Suggestions for Kupang City Bakunase Health Center to conduct counseling about risk factors and dangers of cervical cancer, create an HPV vaccination program and encourage every woman to vaccinate. For women-only communities to avoid risk factors and make periodic early detection for those who have already married.

Objective. To assess the prevalence and identified associated risk factors for precancerous cervical cancer lesions among HIV-infected women in resource-limited settings in Kenya.Methods. HIV-infected women attending the ART clinic at the Nazareth Hospital ART clinic between June 2009 and September 2010. Multivariate logistic regression model with odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated after controlling for important covariates.Result. A total of 715 women were screened for cervical cancer. The median age of the participants was 40 years (range 18–69 years). The prevalence of precancerous lesions (CINI, CINII, CIN III, ICC) was 191 (26.7%). After controlling for other variables in logistic regression analysis, cervical precancerous lesions were associated with not being on ART therapy; whereby non-ART were 2.21 times more likely to have precancerous lesions than ART patients [(aOR)=2.21, 95% CI (1.28–3.83)].Conclusion. The prevalence of precancerous cervical lesions was lower than other similar settings. It is recommended that cancer screening of HIV-infected women should be an established practice. Availability and accessibility of these services can be done through their integration into HIV. Prompt initiation of HAART through an early enrollment into care has an impact on reducing the prevalence and progression of cervical precancerous lesions.

AbstractEarly detection of cervical lesions, accurate diagnosis of cervical lesions, and timely and effective therapy can effectively avoid the occurrence of cervical cancer or improve the survival rate of patients. In this paper, the spectra of tissue sections of cervical inflammation (n = 60), CIN (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) I (n = 30), CIN II (n = 30), CIN III (n = 30), cervical squamous cell carcinoma (n = 30), and cervical adenocarcinoma (n = 30) were collected by a confocal Raman micro-spectrometer (LabRAM HR Evolution, Horiba France SAS, Villeneuve d’Ascq, France). The Raman spectra of six kinds of cervical tissues were analyzed, the dominant Raman peaks of different kinds of tissues were summarized, and the differences in chemical composition between the six tissue samples were compared. An independent sample t test (p ≤ 0.05) was used to analyze the difference of average relative intensity of Raman spectra of six types of cervical tissues. The difference of relative intensity of Raman spectra of six kinds of tissues can reflect the difference of biochemical components in six kinds of tissues and the characteristic of biochemical components in different kinds of tissues. The classification models of cervical inflammation, CIN I, CIN II, CIN III, cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and cervical adenocarcinoma were established by using a support vector machine (SVM) algorithm. Six types of cervical tissues were classified and identified with an overall diagnostic accuracy of 85.7%. This study laid a foundation for the application of Raman spectroscopy in the clinical diagnosis of cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer.

Background : Cervical cancer is one of the main problems in women's health in the world, including Indonesia. According to the 2018 Global Cancer Observatory from the World Health Organization (WHO), the most common cancer cases in Indonesia are breast cancer, which is 58,256 cases or 16.7% of the total 348,809 cancer cases. Cervical cancer (neck of the womb) is the second most common type of cancer in Indonesia, with 32,469 cases or 9.3% of the total cases. Objective: To determine the risk factors associated with early detection of cervical cancer using Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (IVA) ) in women of childbearing age in the Work Area of the Ternate City Health Center for Siko Treatment. Methods: This research is a quantitative analytic study with a cross sectional design. Data collection was carried out from December 2020 to January 2021. The population was all patients who underwent examinations at the Maternal and Child Health Polyclinic (KIA) at the Siko Care Health Center in Ternate City as many as 227 patients and a sample of 145 female patients of childbearing age from January to September 2020. Techniques sampling is simple random sampling. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate with chi-square test. The research variable consists of the dependent variable, namely early detection of cervical cancer, while the independent variables are knowledge, husband's support, access to information and culture. Results: Shows that age (46.9%), knowledge of VIA (50.3%), attitude (55.2%), husband's support (52.4%), access to information (62.1%), culture (51.7%), Support Officer (48.3%), early detection of cervical cancer IVA method (55.2%), while the bivariate results include: Age (0.000, OR=19,011; CI=8.095-44,647), knowledge (0.001; OR=2.86; CI=1.563-18.367), attitude (0.000; OR=215.524 CI=53,456-868.955), husband's support (0.002; OR=1.448 CI=1.688-11.933), access to information (0.000; OR=2,294; CI=1,574-15,976), culture (0,003; OR=2,202 CI=1,648-10,717), health worker support (0,000; OR=27,111 CI;11,023-66,680). Conclusion: There is a relationship between knowledge, husband's support, access to information and culture with early detection of cervical cancer against the IVA method. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that the relevant agencies, namely the Siko Health Center, always improve health education to the community, especially mothers and husbands regarding early detection of cervical cancer through various media tools including leaflets, posters, flipcharts and other media. Through this counseling, it is hoped that the community will be more interested and understand the material presented more quickly

Cervical and breast cancer are the highest prevalence cancer in Indonesia in 2013 which caused death to Indonesian women, cervical cancer by 0.8‰ and breast cancer by 0.5‰. Precancerous lesions of the cervix also known as cervical intraepithelial lesions (Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplastic) are the beginning of changes to cervical carcinoma. In general, precancerous lesions of the cervix originate from the squamous columnar junction in the uterine cervix, which undergoes the process of metaplasia. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between precancerous cervical lesions and sociodemography of women in Kecamatan Legok Kabupaten Tangerang in 2018. This study uses an analytical study with cross sectionaI approach. The population is all women in Kecamatan Legok Kabupaten Tangerang who had sexual relations. Lesi prakanker pada serviks dikenal juga dengan sebutan lesi intraepitelial serviks (Cervical Intraephitelial Neoplasia) merupakan awal dari perubahan menuju karsinoma serviks. Pada umumnya lesi prakanker serviks ini berawal dari daerah squamocolumnar junction pada serviks uteri yang mengalami proses metaplasia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan antara lesi prakanker serviks dengn sosiodemografi perempuan di Kecamatan Legok Kabupaten Tangerang tahun 2018. Penelitian ini merupakan studi analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectionaI. Populasi penelitian adalah semua perempuan di Kecamatan Legok Kabupaten Tangerang yang sudah berhubungan seksual. Total sampel 47 orang.

Cervical cancer is a very dangerous disease and is still a serious problem world-wide. It is estimated that there are approximately 500,000 new cases every year which mostly occur in developing countries. Cervical cancer incidence in Indonesia was continues to increase and the majority of sufferers are detected at an terminal stage. It can be prevented and detected early if womens have a good knowledge and awareness of early detection. This study aimed to know about knowledge, behavior of early detection by Pap smear, and HPV vaccination and the incidence of cervical cancer. This study was attended by 12 respondents in the Ciracas area, East Jakarta. The results of this study show how far respondents know about cervical cancer to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer. The knowledge that will be assessed in this study is how far the public's knowledge about the causes, symptoms, and risk factors of cervical cancer. In addition, in our study we will also assess how far they know about HPV vaccination as a preventative measure and pap smear as a step in early detection of cervical cancer.

Abstract Background Nurses and midwives play important roles in educating the public on cervical cancer prevention strategies. Aim This study sought to assess nurses’ and midwives’ knowledge of, attitudes towards, and acceptance of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in relation to their background characteristics. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study using questionnaires was conducted with a convenience sample of 318 female nurses and midwives, ages 20 to 59, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana. The data were summarised using frequencies, percentages, chi-square tests, and Fisher’s exact tests. Results The results indicated that 41.5% (n = 132) of the participants had high levels of knowledge about cervical cancer risk factors, and 17.6% (n = 56) of the respondents had received at least one dose of the HPV vaccine. Reasons for receiving the HPV vaccination included advice from a colleague (12.9%, n = 41) and perceived threat of cervical cancer (11.7%, n = 37). Of the 262 respondents who had not been vaccinated, 24.45% (n = 78) strongly agreed and 28.0% (n = 89) agreed with the statement that there was limited information on HPV vaccination. Also, there were statistically significant associations between age (X2 = 23.746, p = 0.001), marital status (X2 = 14.758, p = 0.005), completed level of education (X2 = 21.692, p = 0.001), and duration of working at the hospital (X2 = 8.424, p = 0.038) and acceptance of HPV vaccination. Conclusions This study demonstrated gaps in knowledge about cervical cancer risk factors and attitudes towards HPV vaccination, indicating the need for targeted measures to improve knowledge and attitudes. Also, measures to increase acceptance of HPV vaccination among nurses and midwives should consider their sociodemographic characteristics.

AbstractIntegration of high-risk HPV genomes into cellular chromatin has been confirmed to promote cervical carcinogenesis, with HPV16 being the most prevalent high-risk type. Herein, we evaluated the therapeutic effect of the CRISPR/Cas9 system in cervical carcinogenesis, especially for cervical precancerous lesions. In cervical cancer/pre-cancer cell lines, we transfected the HPV16 E7 targeted CRISPR/Cas9, TALEN, ZFN plasmids, respectively. Compared to previous established ZFN and TALEN systems, CRISPR/Cas9 has shown comparable efficiency and specificity in inhibiting cell growth and colony formation and inducing apoptosis in cervical cancer/pre-cancer cell lines, which seemed to be more pronounced in the S12 cell line derived from the low-grade cervical lesion. Furthermore, in xenograft formation assays, CRISPR/Cas9 inhibited tumor formation of the S12 cell line in vivo and affected the corresponding protein expression. In the K14-HPV16 transgenic mice model of HPV-driven spontaneous cervical carcinogenesis, cervical application of CRISPR/Cas9 treatment caused mutations of the E7 gene and restored the expression of RB, E2F1, and CDK2, thereby reversing the cervical carcinogenesis phenotype. In this study, we have demonstrated that CRISPR/Cas9 targeting HPV16 E7 could effectively revert the HPV-related cervical carcinogenesis in vitro, as well as in K14-HPV16 transgenic mice, which has shown great potential in clinical treatment for cervical precancerous lesions.

Background: High-risk oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPV) are the cause of sexually transmitted viral infection. Its persistence is a risk factor for precancerous lesions of the cervix, which will constitute the base of cervical cancer. In the world, the prevalence of high-risk oncogenic HPV is 66.7%, which is higher among women starting their sexual activity.Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted in high schools in Gabon regarding parents. The variables selected were the socio-cultural and demographic characteristics of the parents, their knowledge of human papillomavirus vaccination and their acceptability of HPV vaccination and finally the feasibility of HPV vaccination. The statistical test used was Pearson's Chi-square, and a difference was considered significant for p<0.05.Results: The majority of parents, 89%, were informed of the existence of cervical cancer. However, 73.4% of them were unaware of the existence of vaccination against cervical cancer. Only 2.4% of parents had vaccinated their daughters against cervical cancer at the time of the study. These parents only 53.4% expressed an interest in vaccinating their daughters in 53.4% of cases. The ability to vaccinate children is associated with the socio-professional status of parents (p˂0.000).Conclusions: The majority of parents approved school-based vaccination against human papillomavirus infections despite its reported cost and lack of information. The integration of anti-HPV vaccination into the expanded programme on immunization in Gabon will improve immunization coverage.

AbstractBackgroundHPV-16 infections constitute the highest risk for developing uterine cervix cancer. However, the role of other high-risk types is still controversial.ObjectiveTo analyze HR-HPV prevalence and its possible associations between HPV and risk factors related to cervical lesions among Mexican women.MethodsCross sectional study using 362 cervical samples collected between 2016 and 2017. Fourteen HR-HPV types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68) were detected by highly sensitive PCR amplification followed by reverse hybridization. Bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed to investigate the association between HPV types and risk factors among lesions.ResultsMost samples were HR-HPV positive (83.43%). HPV-16 was the most prevalent infection among negative for intraepithelial lesions or malignancy (78.6%), high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (50%), and cervical cancer (58.2%). HPV-66 showed an unexpected high prevalence in atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (50%), low-grade squamous intraepithelial (45.7%), and only found in 3.6% of cervical cancers. HPV-16 was significantly prevalent among women between 30-39 years, whereas types 66 and 52 were significantly associated when previously sexually transmitted disease had occurred (p< 0.05).ConclusionsHPV-66 either in single or co-infection with other HR-HPV types (excluding 16 and 18) might be indicative of non-progressive cancer lesions. HPV-66 prevalence was unusually high in low-grade cervical lesions, predominantly in co-infection with HPV-51, and very low among cervical cancer. This should be addressed to interpret results obtained by methods that group type 66 with other HR-types.

Background Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines and their widespread adoption have the potential to relieve a large part of the burden of cervical cancer morbidity and mortality, particularly in countries that have low screening rates or, like Japan, lack a cohesive universal screening program. An economic evaluation was conducted to assess the cost-effectiveness of introducing a bivalent HPV vaccination program in Japan from a healthcare perspective. Methods: A Markov model of the natural history of HPV infection that incorporates both vaccination and screening was developed for Japan. The modelled intervention, a bivalent HPV vaccine with a 100% lifetime vaccine efficacy and 80% vaccine coverage, given to a cohort of 12-year-old Japanese girls in conjunction with the current screening program, was compared with screening alone in terms of costs and effectiveness. A discount rate of 5% was applied to both costs and utilities where relevant. Results: Vaccination alongside screening compared with screening alone is associated with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of US$20 315 per quality-adjusted-life-year gained if 80% coverage is assumed. The ICER at 5% coverage with the vaccine plus screening, compared with screening alone, is US$1158. Conclusion: The cost-effectiveness results suggest that the addition of a HPV vaccination program to Japan’s cervical cancer screening program is highly likely to prove a cost-effective way to reduce the burden of cervical cancer, precancerous lesions and HPV16/18-related diseases.
