BACKGROUND India is doubly burdened with communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCD). Knowledge regarding morbidity profile is important for timely intervention so as to improve the quality of life. For effective health strategies, it is important to know the disease burden of a community. As for the effective preventive strategies, it’s important to know the information regarding disease burden and changing trends of diseases in the locality. Hence this study was done to find the morbidity pattern of urban population in Bellary district, Karnataka. METHODS A cross sectional study was carried out in Millerpet, urban health training centre (UHTC), Bellary, Karnataka. The respective UHTC covers 69195 populations, which has eight wards. Simple random sampling technique was adopted to select the ward. The study was carried out in the selected ward and the study duration was for a period of 3 months. Based on the estimated sample size, 416 houses were selected using random number method. Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software version 26 was used for analysing data. Descriptive statistics were used to describe socio demographic and morbidity conditions. RESULTS The most common morbidity among 416 houses were found to be diabetes (22.8 %) followed by hypertension (20 %) and musculoskeletal problems (9 %). Majority of the houses were of nuclear type and the most common age group was 31 - 60 (91.8 %) years followed by 13 - 30 years (80.8 %). 167 (40.1 %) houses had at least one morbidity and 451 (41.4) subjects had at least one morbidity. Socio-demographic variables like age group, family size, monthly income, occupation of head of the family and type of the family were found to be statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS The study revealed that non communicable are the most common diseases present and there is a need to further evaluate the factors responsible so that preventive measures can be taken at the earliest so as to improve the quality of life. Abstract : The study aims to describe the overview of survival for 2 years after diagnosed of patients co-infection with TB-HIV based on the anatomical site of Tuberculosis (TB). The design of this study was dynamic retrospective cohort with 177 medical records of TB-HIV co-infection patients in the Center of infection hospital Prof. Dr. Sulianti Saroso, Jakarta, from 2010 to 2013, taken by simple random sampling technique. The survival of TB-HIV co-infection for 2 years after it was diagnosed in patients with anatomical site of TB in the extrapulmonary was 86% and it was lower compared to patient with the anatomical site in the pulmonary which was 98%. Anatomical site of TB in the extrapulmonary had risk of death faster toward TB-HIV co-infection patients (HR 1,47, 95% CI : 0,55-3,90). HIV infection cause the widespreading damage in the immunity system therefor the infection of TB microbe also spreading to other organ such as lymph nodes and pleura. Extrapulmonary TB has much more TB microbe that worsen the progressivity of the disease and decrease the probability of the patient’s survival. Intensive screening are needed for TB/HIV co-infection patients to diagnosed the possibility of TB infection in the extrapulmonary as early as possible to increase the quality of life of its patients by finding the proper treatment.

Motivation arising due to the need can be a factor that increases continuance com-mitment to an organization, which is expected to have an effect on the improvement of the quality of life. This research was conducted on 126 female factory workers who are already married and have children. This study aims to examine the mediating effect of life complexity and dynamic and work-life conflict on the effect of commit-ment on continuance commitment and quality of life of the respondents. The results could not prove the significant influence of motivation on the quality of life, either directly or through the mediation of life complexity and dynamic, work life conflict and continuance commitment. Despite a high-perceived value, motivation has no significant positive effect on the quality of life of female factory workers. Other re-sults found in this study show the direct influence of motivation in improving con-tinuance commitment, in which the influence is significant and strong. Meanwhile, life complexity, dynamics, and work-life conflict, as the mediating factors, also have significantly and positively weak influence.

PurposeThe main purpose of this study is to link work‐family conflict, quality of work and non‐work lives, quality of life and social support (supervisor and spouse supports). Specifically, it seeks to address three different roles of social support that have theoretical and empirical support and the mediating roles of quality of work life and quality of non‐work life.Design/methodology/approachThe SEM‐based approach has been used to study supervisor and spouse supports as moderators between work‐family conflict and quality of life; independent variables of work‐family conflict; independent variables of quality of life. The study has been carried out in Malaysia.FindingsThe main findings are: work‐family conflict has relationship with quality of life; quality of work life and non‐work life are “partial” mediators between work‐family conflict and quality of life; and, among the various roles of social support, its role as an independent variable of quality of life gives the best results.Research limitations/implicationsThe research is based on a cross‐sectional study conducted in Malaysia and addresses only the spouse and supervisor supports as components of social support.Originality/valueThe research has developed a comprehensive model linking work‐family conflict, quality of work and non‐work lives, and quality of life and has studied the role of social support.

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is known as the silent killer, where sufferers often do not realize its signs and symptoms and are frequently diagnosed during another health complication. To maintain quality of life, the family is required to provide support, therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between family and the patient through observational analytic research. Methods: 120 people with DM make up the research sample using an accidental sampling technique, and data analysis was carried out using the Spearman rank test. The results found that 62 respondents (51.7%) agreed to their families providing good support, and 102 (85%) were satisfied with their quality of life. Results: The Spearman test resulted in a P value of 0,000 and R of 0.334. This means the higher the support provided by the family, the greater the increase in quality of life. Conclusion: The suggestions proposed from this study is for health workers to advocate and encourage family in the planning management of DM sufferers in order to improve their quality of life.
