The issue of adaptation of modern first-year students to the educational process at the university is one of the current pedagogical tasks. Successful adaptation significantly affects the quality of received education, the degree of formation of personal and professional qualities, contributes to the development of motivation, self-education, and self-development. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the criteria, indicators, and levels of adaptation of first-year students to the learning process at the university. The material for the study was the domestic scientific sources of studying the peculiarities of the adaptation process of students to educational activities in higher education. Research methods: analysis and generalization of psychological-pedagogical and educational-methodical literature on the research topic. We determine as the main criteria for the adaptation of first-year students to the university, the adaptive potential and professionally important qualities of students, consider these concepts, their structure, and their basic properties. On the basis of the analysis and generalization of the existing indicators of the implementation of the adaptive potential, we formulate the author's indicators for determining the level of its development. The degree of formation of professionally important qualities of students are low, medium, and high levels of development of emotional intelligence, negative communicative attitude, intellectual lability, and stress tolerance.

METHODOLOGICAL MODEL OF VISITS TO CLASSES TO THE MATERIALIZATION OF INTEGRATION OF CONTENTS ABSTRACT It is a challenge for educators teaching staff first year of the Computer Engineering degree from the University of Granma improve the educational process, from that insufficient linkages and relationships between disciplines and subjects in the curriculum of the year are revealed, which makes no prior knowledge properly exploit new knowledge to enhance an integrated manner. Therefore, this research aims to develop a methodological model of class visits towards the materialization of content integration in the training process. It is a model that facilitates the problem of the integration of academic content and provides a better contribution to the contextualization of the content and the quality of the results in the teaching-learning process. KEYWORDS: Formative process; contents integration; interdisciplinary process; contents contextualization.

The purpose is to allow us to observe and evaluate the sleep quality and presence of sleep deprivation in high school students from the 16th and 22nd establishment under the University of Guadalajara with the objective of allowing us to observe if there is a relationship between their schoolwork activies, daily basis day to day, bodyweight and mood with the presence of sleeping during daytime using the pediatric daytime sleepiness scale. Methods: This is an observational, retropesctive, logitudinal and descriptive study with PubMed and NCBI Articles as variables. Findings: We will evaluate with sleepiness daytime scale the quality of sleep in 100 students. Conclusion: During this research 100 students comprised of 61 female and 39 male students all in freashmen or first year of high school were evaluated. All of them between ages 14 to 17 years of old.

This paper focuses on feedback received from a set of qualitative questions that were administered to undergraduate students in the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan, as part of a larger mixed methods study. The larger study aims to identify what characteristics, if any, can predict or are related to student success; The “start-stop-continue” method was utilized to assess student perceptions about  their success in the college as a whole. The students were asked: Are there any specific things that you can think of that act/acted as barriers to your success in engineering (stop)? What could the college do/change to make first year more successful for engineering students (start)? Is there anything in your engineering degree so far that you feel is done well and helps students succeed (continue)? Students identified the quality of instruction early in their program as well as adjustment to college workloads and self-directed learning as the most significant barriers tostudent success.

Developing the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of students as rapidly as possible is a key requirement in improving learning outcomes at every stage of their degree. The Department of Physics at the University of Liverpool has entirely redeveloped years 1 and 2 of the undergraduate degree with a focus on students becoming independent learners as early as possible. The aims are to better integrate the undergraduate teaching provision and to complete the Institute of Physics core curriculum in years 1 and 2, in order to focus on research led teaching and independent projects in years 3 and 4. This new programme, entitled New Physics, starts in Welcome Week with the Undergraduate Physics Olympics and continues through the Year 1 Project (Mission to Mars) in the first week of semester one. The aim is to set the standard for collaborative achievement and introduce students to the way that physicists think. Innovative problem solving classes incorporating active learning such as peerassessment, group learning and exemplars designed to improve these skills andenhance the quality of learning among its first-year students have been introduced.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to identify whether there are any differences in the quality of the notes constructed in English between students for whom English is a first language and those for whom it is a second language. Subsequently we assessed whether this difference, if any, affected their grades. Unsurprisingly, the first-language students produced better structured and more detailed notes; they also performed better academically than their second-language peers. However, when students were provided with training that focused on using writing as a means to promote critical thinking, there was an improvement in the personalisation of their notes. The improvement in grades was significant for second-language students. Thus the university has a pivotal role to play in preparing students for academic success by providing them with supportive measures to aid their transition into first year.

This article deals with the theme of innovation in academic didactic through the use of technologies and is one of the outputs of a larger project, "Preparazione alla professionalitŕ docente e innovazione didattica" (PRODID), which aims to establish and develop strategies to support teaching profession at the University of Padua. The authors introduce the theoretical framework and the projects carried out in the University of Padua to take advantage of the potential of technology, then present the results obteined during the first year of the project. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire which involved professors of the University and semi-structured interviews conducted with 16 privileged witnesses forming part of the teaching staff. The questionnaire collects the level of diffusion of didactic solutions that rely on online resources and the quality of teaching experiences conducted by the teachers. The interviews relate to multiple aspects of teaching by highlighting best and innovative practices, resistances due to established practices, and teaching models adopted.

AbstractIn the period 1986–1991, experiments have been carried out with an introductory course in computer programming, based on functional programming. Due to thorough educational design and evaluation, a successful course has been developed. This has led to a revision of the computer programming education in the first year of the computer science curriculum at the University of Twente. This article describes the approach, the aim of the computer programming course, the outline and subject matter of the course, and the evaluation. Educational research has been done to assess the quality of the course.
