Further vocational education is one of the priorities of Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Nowadays professional retraining is of special interest for those who wish to get further vocational education. The article examines the relevance of the Translator in the Field of Professional Communication programme in the context of further vocational education at the present stage in a classical university setting. The authors describe the experience of implementing the above-mentioned programme at Nizhnevartovsk State University. The programme provides an opportunity for getting additional qualifications that allow for a combination of professional knowledge and translation competences in the area of professional interest. The authors emphasize the importance of the programme aimed at the university self-presentation at the regional level. The programme is designed for students with higher professional education and university students of non-linguistic specialties. The article sets out the legal basis on which the programme was developed, presents the main provisions of the program, the content and form of, the technology and teaching methods used, as well as the planned results of the programme. The article stresses that in accordance with the objectives of the programme and FSES 3++, students should develop universal, general professional and vocational competencies, which allow graduates to implement a new type of professional activity in the field of translation. The factors conditioned viability and demand for this professional retraining programme are pointed out. In conclusion the authors underline the students realization of a foreign language command pragmatic value while pursuing the programme.

The following paper discusses the actual task of modern technical specialist training: getting him/her ready to communicate professionally in a foreign language. Practice requests are naturally reflected in the development of curricula and programs of higher professional education. The author demonstrates the urgency of the task in connection with the constantly changing foreign language professional communication, especially computer-mediated part of it. The author identifies two main approaches to the organization of studies at the university: changing the structure, content, methods of the course Foreign Language and the development of new courses of the curriculum. Within the framework of the second approach, the process of designing an educational and methodical complex for a professional communication course on the basis of a process approach is considered in some detail. The paper emphasizes the importance of using professional skills of prospective specialists to increase the effectiveness of the educational process, in particular, the development of copyright audio and video materials. The workshop for audio engineers, developed by the author of the paper, is successfully used in the educational process of Samara State Institute of Culture.

Examined is the problem of achieving the quality of education of university graduates in implementation of competence-based learning. Shown is that when assessing quality, it is necessary to focus on achieved level of compliance with requirements. The project of the higher education reform of the Ministry of Education and Science is analyzed from the standpoint of implementation of the competence-based approach in vocational education. Attention is drawn to the need to make adjustments to the formulation of competencies of graduates, and to develop real mechanisms for achievement of such by university graduates.

The article analyses a regional university as a social institution on the example of the case of the Ingush State University. A general description of the university is given. It is shown that a regional university in modern conditions as a social institution acquires special significance both as a scientific institution, and as the main element of the regional educational space, and as a center of an innovative economy. The Ingush University focuses on continuing professional education, that includes pre-university training, secondary vocational education, higher vocational education at various levels, as well as postgraduate and additional vocational education. Opportunities for obtaining secondary vocational and higher education for socially vulnerable segments of the population are expanding. The university is one of the largest employers in the region, therefore, the article emphasises its role in solving the problem of graduates employment. The university provides opportunities for stable employment for representatives of the highest qualifications, who otherwise would not have been able to find an occupation due to the peculiarities of the structure of the depressed regional economy. In addition, the conditions for the development of small innovative enterprises are being formed at the Ingush State University. The driving force behind this process is the Engineering Center, a supplier of a sorbent with a high sorption capacity to the Russian market. The centre is aimed at a long-term solution of problems in the development of modified sorption materials that are used in a wide range of industries, including medicine and agronomy, to eliminate environmental pollution as a result of oil spills, to purify wastewater from various organic substances. The culture-creating role of the university in the space of regional culture is multifaceted. The university, on the one hand, is part of the world cultural and educational community, on the other hand, it works to preserve, develop and spread the culture of the regional peoples. The article analyses the integrative function of the university in the creation and support of a single educational and cultural space as an important condition for state unity and sustainable development of our multinational country. The role of the rector's personality in solving the problems facing the regional university in modern conditions is emphasized.

Contemporary university education develops professional identity and builds customized academic trajectories. Career guidance technologies provide professional self-awareness and personality professionalization. At university, career guidance work is an integral part of continuous professional development of a future specialist. It covers pre-university education, higher professional education, and employment assistance. The present research featured the career guidance work conducted at the Transbaikal State University. The analysis showed that the current system lacks innovations, cannot solve the employment problem, and does not provide conditions for successful professional identity. The article introduces a set of project conditions of customized career guidance work with 1) applicants, in order to promote a conscious career choice; 2) students, to support their professional competencies and identity; 3) graduates, to facilitate their employment. The proposed comprehensive approach to career guidance will allow the university to improve the academic process and to work with the community from secondary school to the onset of professional activity.

A modern educational environment of higher professional education is becoming more multicultural. However, not all universities are able to provide a comfortable multicultural educational environment: university staff experience different issues in communication with international students. The aim of the article is to specify the term “professional communication competence of the university staff with international students” and define the forms and methods for developing this competence. The term “professional communication competence of the university staff with international students” is defined in the basis of the analysis of research literature on the topic of intercultural communication in higher education. Taking into account the principles of andragogy and the concept of humane oriented education, the forms and methods of adult learning and teaching were defined (discussions, case study, gamification). The research results can be used to design and implement the training programs to advance university staff proficiency. The novelty of the research is in the description of the forms and methods of developing the university staff’s professional communication competence in view of age-specific features in a multicultural educational environment.

Discussed is the problem of upbringing activities in the system of vocational education. In recent years this problem has not received much attention. To correct this situation, in July 2020 amendments were made to the law “On Education in the Russian Federation” about the problem of upbringing of students. Approved that it is necessary to include a working program of upbringing of students in educational programs. It is proposed that at the beginning the educational organization should develop a generalized program of upbringing of students and a calendar plan of upbringing activities. A variant of the program of upbringing of students at the university is given.

The article is devoted to the overview of one of the most current problems that arise in the process of supporting the adaptation of students. The paper reveals the content of the adaptation process, its content and procedural characteristics, describes the types and stages, and directions of diagnostics. The aim of the work is to identify the features of adaptation in first-year students, including the description of the specifics of difficulties of non-resident students’ adaption. The study was conducted at the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology “Petrozavodsk State University” with first-year students studying in the fields of education 44.03.02 Psychological and pedagogical education, 44.03.01. Pedagogical education, 44.03.03 Special (defectologic) education. The following methods were used to test the hypothesis: «I am a student» survey, «Scale of subjective well-being» method, analysis of documents (medical records of students), quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of the study. Analysis of the results of the study showed that non-resident students have both general and specific difficulties of adaptation due to the breakdown of previous family and friendships, lack of emotional support, difficult living conditions, a new neighborhood, a new type of settlement, etc. The obtained results are used for development and implementation of measures to support students during the adaptation period.

Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) was launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research and Technology to support the readiness of students to face challenges in the world of work by applying active learning. Documentary institutions in universities, namely libraries, archives, and museums, should become strategic partners in supporting the MBKM program because the documentary institution has all the necessary conditions, facilities, and infrastructure to succeed MBKM program. This study aimed to determine the readiness of documentary institutions in the university environment to exploit the opportunities and challenges and what obstacles they encountered. This study used the qualitative method and in-depth interviews for data collection and a literature study. The researcher concludes that the biggest challenges facing documentary institutions are regulation and the readiness of human resources. Due to this, changes to regulations and educational curricula and the introduction of new documentation of pure science are priorities in improving professional education providers in library science, archives, and museology.

The authors of the article note the relevance of introducing into the educational system of the university the possibility of choosing forms of evaluation of educational results of students, which will reveal the skills of professional activities that are important for the labor market. The article reveals the specifics of the organization of a practice-oriented assessment of the educational results of future preschool teachers according to WorldSkills standards in the conditions of quasi-professional activity, Namely, the characteristics of the activities of the teacher of preschool education, provided in various standards, presented the experience of the participation of teachers of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Preschool Education of the Transbaikal State University as compatriots and experts in the competition of professional skills WorldSkills Russia, on the basis of which the criteria for evaluating educational results were developed on the examination of the discipline “Mathematical Development of early and preschool children” teachers of pre-school education, as well as described the possibility of organizing a demonstration exam at the university on the example of one discipline. Consequently, the training of a preschool teacher has a special place in the operational component of professional readiness, and the organization of integrated practice-oriented assessment of the educational results of the graduate becomes important in the higher education system.

In this article, the issues of improving the education content in teaching foreign-language professional communication in a modern university are discussed. It is noted that the Russian system of higher professional education is a constant subject to an active modernization process. Therefore, at the present moment the most important objective of the Educational Policy is to ensure the quality of education, maintaining its fundamental nature and its correspondence to the needs of society and the labor market, to the interests of the individual and the State. With regard to the realities of modern Language Pedagogy, the improved education content in the system of higher professional technical education should correspond to a number of the following fundamental principles: rely on the scientific concept, be directed towards humanization and humanitarization of education; meet the requirements of normative instruments which regulate the learning process; ensure the development of students` personal potential and be authentic.
