Moringa oliefera L is one of the most plants in Indonesia. One area has this plant is Alor island with the type of Moringa leaves are flavorful and not flavorful. The use of Moringa leaves is not widely known by the public. The aim of this research is to determine the antioxidant activity of moringa leaves flavorful. The method used is the extraction method and the DPPH method. The results of the analysis showed that ethyl acetate extract of Moringa oliefera L, contained compounds group of flavonoids, terpenoids and phenolic. Antioxidant activity test showed that the ethyl acetate extract of Moringa oliefera L have a strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 14,301 ppm.

ABSTRACTNanamuha (Bridelia monoica Merr.) is a plant that was used as a cancer and tumor drug by the Sangihe Islands community. This plant contains phenol compounds, flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of nanamuha leaves that grow in the Sangihe Island to have antioxidant activity and determine the total phenolic ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaf. The extraction method used is maceration with ethanol solvent p.a. The extracts obtained was determined total phenolic and antioxidant activity test using DPPH method. Based on the results obtained, the ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaves has antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 75,03 µg / mL and the result showed that the total phenol content the ethanol extracts of nanamuha leaves of  53,34 mg / L.  Keywords : Nanamuha leaf, total phenol, antioxidant activity, DPPH  ABSTRAKNanamuha (Bridelia monoica Merr.) merupakan tanaman yang dimanfaatkan sebagai obat kanker dan tumor oleh masyarakat Kepulauan Sangihe. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah unutuk mengetahui potensi dari daun nanamuha yang tumbuh di Kepulaun Sangihe ini memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan menentukan total fenolik dari ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan pelarut etanol p.a. Ekstrak yang diperoleh ditentukan total fenolik dan uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode DPPH. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dengan nilai IC50 75,03 µg/mL dan hasil penelitian menunjukan total kandungan fenolik ekstrak etanol daun nanamuha sebesar 53,34 mg/L. Kata kunci : Daun Nanamuha, Total fenol, Aktivitas antioksidan, DPPH

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan fenolik total dari ekstrak kulit biji jengkol. Kulit biji jengkol dalam bentuk serbuk yang sudah dikering angin anginkan selama 1x24 jam dimaserasi dengan metanol selama 1x24 jam. Ekstrak yang diperoleh dilarutkan dengan air secara berulang-ulang dan kemudian fraksi air dipartisi dengan etil asetat berulang-ulang. Selanjutnya ekstrak pekat dilarutkan dengan metanol dan diparitsi dengan n-heksan untuk memperoleh fenolik total. Metode DPPH digunakan untuk menentukan aktivitas antioksidan. Nilai IC 50 yang diperoleh adalah 11,7987. Nilai ini menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan yang cukup tinggi.   This study was conducted to determine the total phenolic antioxidant activity of jengkol seed skin extract. Jengkol seed slayer in the form of powder that had been dried for 1 x 24 hours macerated with methanol for 1 x 24 hours. The extract was dissolved with water repeatedly and then the fraction of water was partitioned with ethyl acetate repeatedly. Then the concentrated extract was dissolved with methanol and paritized with n-hexane to obtain the total phenolic. The DPPH method was used to determine antioxidant activity. The IC 50 value obtained was 11.7987. This value showed quite high antioxidant activity.

Research on the antioxidant activity of the local onion roots of Palu (Allium cepa Var Aggregatum L.) with various polarity solvents has been carried out. This study aims to determine the potential of Palu local shallot root extract as an antioxidant and determine the IC50 value of the Palu local shallot root antioxidant activity. The method applied in this research is maceration using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. The extracts from each solvent were tested for their antioxidant activity by the DPPH method. The results of the study showed that the IC50 value in n-hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract, and ethanol extract were 579.98 ppm, 518.28 ppm 315.83 ppm and as a comparison used ascorbic acid obtained IC50 of 53.69 ppm. Based on the results obtained, the best antioxidant activity is in polar solvents (ethanol extract) compared to other solvents. Abstrak- Tanaman kelor (Moringa oleifera) adalah salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak fungsi dan khasiat bagi kehidupan manusia. Salah satu yang paling menonjol dari kandungan tanaman kelor adalah kandungan antioksidan, terutama pada bagian daun. Daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) memiliki kandungan bahan aktif seperti flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan polifenol. Senyawa tersebut mampu menangkal radikal bebas yang dapat menyebabkan penuaan dini dan kerusakan kulit. Tujuan dilaksanakannya penelitian ini adalah untuk memformulasikan daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) menjadi sediaan krim antioksidan dengan menggunakan variasi bahan aktif yaitu krim basis (F1), krim serbuk daun kelor (F2), dan krim vitamin E (F3). Evaluasi dilakukan untuk melihat stabilitas fisika dan kimia. Parameter uji stabilitas fisika meliputi uji organoleptis, uji daya sebar, uji tipe emulsi, uji bobot jenis, uji viskositas, uji sifat alir, dan uji distribusi ukuran partikel dan droplet. Parameter uji stabilitas kimia meliputi uji pH dan uji aktivitas antioksidan. Pengamatan pada sediaan krim dilakukan selama 28 hari. Penentuan aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH yang kemudian serapannya diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna baik pada krim basis, krim serbuk daun kelor, maupun krim vitamin E hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji statistik ANOVA satu arah yaitu nilai P<0,01. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan bahwa krim F2 memilik % peredaman radikal bebas yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan krim F1 dan F3. One of the most prominent of the Moringa compounds is the antioxidants from the leaves. Moringa oleifera leaves contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and polyphenols. These compounds inhibit free radicals that can cause premature aging and skin damage. The purpose of this study was to formulate Moringa oleifera leaves into an antioxidant cream dosage form using a variety of active ingredients which are cream base (F1), cream of Moringa leaf powder (F2), and cream of vitamin E (F3). The evaluation test was done to determine the physical and chemical stability. The parameters of physical stability test include organoleptic test, dispersion test, emulsion type test, density test, viscosity test, flow properties test, and test of particle size distribution and droplet. Chemical stability test parameters include pH test and antioxidant activity test. The observations of the cream dosage forms were followed for 28 days. The determination of antioxidant activity was conducted using the DPPH method which was then measured by a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that there were significant differences in the base cream, Moringa oleifera cream, and vitamin E cream as indicated by the results of the one-way ANOVA statistical test, the P value <0.01. The results of the antioxidant activity test showed that F2 cream had a higher % of free radical reduction compared to F1 and F3 creams. Objective: The genus Ruellia has been widely used in traditional and Ayurvedic medicine as an antioxidant. This study seeks to examine the antioxidant activity of the species Ruellia brittoniana. Methods: In this study, Ruellia brittoniana flowers were acquired from Depok, West Java, Indonesia. The flowers were cleaned and ground to form a powder, then dissolved in hexane, ethanol and ethyl acetate solvents. These three extracts were then tested for phytochemicals and thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis. Ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts were also analyzed for antioxidants using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. Results: Phytochemical results from the three extracts proved that Ruellia brittoniana contains flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, glycosides and triterpenes. These results are comparable to the results from TLC analysis, which showed the samples contained 4–5 chemical components. Furthermore, the best antioxidant activity resulted from the ethyl acetate extract of the Ruellia brittoniana flower with an IC50 value of 68.42 ppm. Conclusion: An ethyl acetate extract from the Ruellia brittoniana flower can be used as a natural source of additional antioxidants.

Background : The treatment of some diseases caused by free radicals and pathogenic bacteria usually by using antioxidants and antibiotics. Due to excessive use of antibiotics and other environmental cues, some bacteria are now resistant to certain antibiotics or even to multiple antibiotics. Some Vibrio cholerae bacterial strains are multiresistant to many antibiotics.Objective : The antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Brugueira gymnorrhiza stem extracts against pathogenic bacteria V. cholerae.Method : The B. gymnorrhiza stem was extracted by gradient maceration method. The DPPH method was used to determine the antioxidant activity and the disc diffusion method was used to determine the antibacterial activities. The column chromatography method was used to fractionate the selective extract with the best activity. The LC-MS/MS method was used to identify the compound obtained from the fraction with the best antioxidant and antibacterial activity.Result : Ethyl acetate extract of B. gymnorrhiza stem had the best antibacterial activity with MIC and MBC values of 62.50 mg/L. Ethyl acetate extract also showed the best value of antioxidant activity as indicated by an IC50 value of 255.03 mg/L. The results of fractions test showed that fraction 3 had the best antibacterial and the best antioxidant activities with both the MIC and MBC values of 7.90 mg/L and IC50 value of 348.91 mg/L, respectively.Conclusion : Ethyl acetate extract of B. gymnorrhiza stem has good potential as antioxidant and antibacterial. The compound which is thought as antioxidant and antibacterial from Ethyl acetate extract is 2-Ethyl-4-methyl-1H-imidazole.

This study aimed to investigate phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity of n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract from lakoocha leaves. The powdered simplicia was macerated with n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol 96% successively, filtered, then concentrated using rotary evaporator to obtain n–hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract and ethanol extract. Phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity was performed against these extracts. Antioxidant activity was determined by DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging method using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer at wavelength of 516 nm after incubated for 60 minutes in dark place. Quercetin was used as positive control. The result of phytochemical screening showed n-hexane extract contains steroid, ethyl acetate extract contain steroid, tannin, glycoside, flavonoid and saponin, whereas ethanol extract contain tannin, glycoside, flavonoid and saponin. The IC50 value of n–hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol extract was 1062.03±1.42 ppm, 323.18±0.02 ppm and 99.23±0.07 ppm respectively, whereas for quercetin was 2.32±0.01 ppm. This study showed that ethanol extract had antioxidant activity with strong category whereas n-hexane extract and ethyl acetate extract had inactive antioxidant activity with very weak categories.       Keyword: Antioxidant Activity, DPPH, Lakoocha leaf

Sea holly leaves (Acanthus ilicifolius L.) belongs to Acanthaceae family, contain flavonoid compounds, alkaloids, an phenols. This research aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of sea holly leaf extract by free radical damping method 1,1-Diphenyl-2-Picrylhydrazil (DPPH). The extraction method multilevel maseration using n-hexane extract, ethyl acetate extract, and ethanol extract is 1,55%, 0,65% and 4,97% respectively. On each extract, the antioxidant activity was assayed by DPPH free radical inhibition method by measuring is absorbance at the maximum wavelength of 515nm using UV-VIS spectrophometer with quercetin compound as comparator. The result of antioxidant assay showed that IC50 value, ethanol extract is 34,659 μg/mL (strong antioxidant), ethyl acetate extract is 162,512 μg/mL (weak antioxidant), n-hexane extract is361,730 μg/mL (not active as antioxidant).

This study was conducted to determine the activity of Jatropha gossypifolia L (jarak merah’s) leaf extract as an antioxidant and antibactery against acne causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes). To obtain an J. gossypifolia L jarak merah’s leaf extract by maceration using 96% ethanol, and then fractionated with n-hexane and ethyl acetate. Testing of antioxidant activity by DPPH method and antibactery activity test by the paper disc method. Antioxidant activity test has done for ethanol fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and n-hexane fraction, while testing for antibacterial activity performed on fractions active as antioxidant. The test results demonstrate the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction and the ethanol fraction as a fraction very strong with IC50 value of 22.33 ppm for ethyl acetate fraction and 41.04 ppm for ethanol fraction. Then the fraction of ethyl acetate and ethanol fraction antibactery activity test, the result is known that both factions have the ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria Propionibacterium acnes demonstrated by the inhibition zone is formed. In 1000 ppm is formed diameter of the greatest inhibition zone that is equal to 6 mm for ethyl acetate fraction and 5 mm for ethanol fraction.
