The article is devoted to the analysis of partnership relations between the Russian Federation and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The study is relevant as in 2018 at the summit in Singapore the Russia-ASEAN dialogue was brought to the level of strategic partnership, and today active and dynamic relations are being formed between Russia and ASEAN, stimulating foreign economic and trade activities. Special attention is paid to cooperation during the Coronavirus pandemic. Russia’s practical role in strengthening ASEAN’s positions in the Asia-Pacific region is also analyzed. The article focuses on both the achievements and the problems of bilateral relations, as well as on outlining the prospects for their further development. The author comes to the conclusion that nowadays the presence of political will allows Russia and ASEAN to develop their relations quite dynamically, and the parties solve any problems in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, which outlines rather broad prospects for cooperation.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the features and historical evolution of the SovietChinese (later Russian-Chinese) relations from the moment of the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 to the present. The analysis of the complex of factors that determined the complex dynamics of the relations between the two countries was carried out by the author of the article. It is shown that the SovietChinese (later – Russian-Chinese) relations developed from close alliance to alienation and confrontation – with reaching a level of strategic partnership in the second decade of the 21st century. Methods and materials. The authors seek a combination of general theoretical and special methods, focusing on the historical, sociocultural and political analysis. They are based on the analysis of periodicals, as well as using books, articles and materials of researchers on the problems of the political development of China and the USSR (Russia) and on the transformation of the nature of their bilateral relations. The author analyzes the current situation in the relations between the two countries, according to which the nature of the development of the general situation in international relations and the objective foreign policy interests of China and Russia encourage them to build and deepen bilateral partnership. Results. According to the author, many of the reasons that gave rise to a conflict of interests and confrontation between the two countries in previous years are exhausted today. At the same time, the joint participation of China and Russia in the formation and adoption of a new, more equitable and sustainable world order, in the settlement of conflicts and crises, in the arrangement of the Greater Eurasia space seems to the author justified and promising. Among the factors defining the nature of the Sino-Soviet relations the author identifies the relationship between the leaders of the two countries, the difference of geopolitical concepts and approaches, ideological disputes and differences in the views on strategy and prospects of the communist movement, the logic of the socio-political and socio-economic development in the context of modernization. The changing and contradictory correlation of these factors determined the development of the Soviet-Chinese (later Russian-Chinese) relations from a close alliance to mutual distancing and confrontation – with the subsequent entry into strategic partnership.

The Article is devoted to the humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Vietnam in 1991-2019. Currently, Russia and Vietnam are united by the desire to structure the regional subsystem through joint participation in economic integration and strengthening the security system in the Asia-Pacific region. In this regard, the question of how Russia and Vietnam build bilateral relations, characterized as a comprehensive strategic partnership, is becoming more and more relevant. The most interesting is the humanitarian aspect of relations, since in the modern realities of globalization, in addition to the military and economic aspects of bilateral interaction between States that claim a significant role in the system of international relations, it is humanitarian imperatives that acquire special significance. By promoting their national culture in the partner country and developing bilateral ties in the fields of education, science, information, sports and tourism, the countries strengthen their bilateral relations, which allows them to coordinate their actions more confidently and realize their national interests at the global and regional levels. The purpose of the article is to identify trends in Russian-Vietnamese humanitarian relations in 1991-2019. To achieve this goal, an analysis of the legal framework of humanitarian relations between Russia and Vietnam was conducted, as well as the content of humanitarian relations between the two countries in the field of education, culture and humanitarian contacts. The authors considered the significance of the studied segment of bilateral relations in the national political and expert-analytical discourses of Russia and Vietnam. The article notes the existence of historical and organizational potential necessary for implementation in the Russian-Vietnamese humanitarian dialogue. The authors conclude that the humanitarian aspect plays an important role, since it is an integral part of bilateral relations and a promising component of the implementation of national interests.

The article reveals the features of the application of marketing strategies in the market of the People's Republic of China. The Chinese market is significantly different from the European, American and Russian ones, moreover, this consumer segment is least disclosed in the works of Russian authors. Despite the fact that the great Chinese firewall system imposes some restrictions on the dissemination of foreign information within China and thus restricts access to this market, there are ways and methods available to Russian businesses. Some of them are described in this article and represent a full-fledged system consisting of both trading platforms and marketing tools. The scope of application of the research results is the foreign trade of Russian small and medium-sized businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mongolia’s security primarily depends on how the country develops respective bilateral relations with its neighbors and great powers including the United States. In this sense, it is important to examine U.S. foreign policy, in particular, its Asia policy as well as interests pursued by Washington while promoting bilateral relations with Mongolia, as the nexus between those parties should be considered in foreign policymaking of Mongolia. On the other hand, relations with Mongolia has been a part of U.S. policy towards the Asia-Pacific region. However, under the leadership of President Trump, the U.S. administration re-defined its policy towards the region by replacing Asia-Pacific with the label of Indo-Pacific. Only two years later since Mongolia and the United States marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in 2019. In this article, the authors seek to explain what is the Indo-Pacific partnership and express their views. This article deals with the relationship between the People's Republic of China and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which have passed a difficult and not always stable path from ideological cooperation to confrontation, and then to normalization and strategic partnership. The article describes the events that played a key role in the relations between the two countries, which led our peoples, ultimately, to good-neighborly relations aimed at strategic interaction and cooperation.

The current state of bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China is described by many international relations experts as the best in history. After taking the president office by Donald Trump, the bilateral relations between America and abovementioned powers are cooling down. Current foreign policy of the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation focuses on holding a common position in the international political arena, which is in fact an attempt to counterweight political influence of the US administration and their allies. The dimension of the strategic partnership between China and Russia is also determining the mutual economic dependence, which is now crucial for both powers to build a strong position on the international forum. In addition, Russia is one of the crucial partners for the Chinese-led Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) – by many recognized as the Chinese attempt to break the American economic domination. The collisional course of the American foreign policy towards Russia and China forces the latter to look for Central and Eastern European allies as well as to gain influence in the region of Central Asia which is leading to a constant increase in tensions between China and Russia.

The article is devoted to the analysis of relations between Ukraine and the People's Republic of China on the conformity of bilateral relations to the declared status of strategic partnership. The author notes that both states actively use the instrument of strategic partnership in foreign policy activities, while the Chinese practice is characterized by a more balanced approach. Key criteria for the analysis of interstate relations for its conformity to the strategic partnership are highlighted. The features of bilateral interaction in political, economic, military-technical and humanitarian spheres are shown. The author notes that the mutual recognition of the strategic nature of Ukrainian-Chinese interaction at the highest level, the existence of a normative-legal base and the mechanism of cooperation, the positive upward dynamics of bilateral contacts fully meet the criteria of strategic partnership. True, the political sphere, despite its impartial character and official declaration of support for territorial integrity by the parties to each other, is marked by the lack of coordination of positions among partners on international issues, which is of great importance in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The economic aspect, despite the presence of mutual interest, is marked by a significant untapped potential, which is due to the structural weakness of Ukraine and its low position in the priorities of China's foreign policy in the post-Soviet space and CEE, in particular, given the great importance for China of relations with Russia, the absence of a comprehensive strategy in Ukrainian side for developing relations with the Middle Kingdom. The humanitarian direction is also characterized by a significant untapped potential. As a result, the author offers a number of recommendations on increasing the effectiveness of the implementation of the concept of strategic partnership in relations between Ukraine and China.

Nowadays, Russia and China are the most important partners for each other. Cooperation is developing in all areas of bilateral cooperation: from politics and economics to culture and security. Today, a large number of articles are also devoted to Russian-Chinese scientific and technological cooperation, which plays an increasing role in bilateral relations. Meanwhile, there is a shortage of studies that would aim to analyze publications in the Chinese media. This kind of analysis is necessary to better understand the perception of the image of Russian achievements in science and technology in the People’s Republic of China. At the same time, it will prevent potential disputes in sensitive areas. In addition, given the analysis in the Chinese media, it is possible to identify the concrete areas of interest for both sides. Successful cooperation between Russia and China in science and technology is based, on the one hand, on stable interstate relations which have the character of a strategic partnership, and, on the other hand, on mutually beneficial and long-term projects in business, joint scientific research and educational exchanges. At the same time, there are certain disproportions in Russian-Chinese scientific and technological cooperation. Russia is an important source of technical talents and know-how for Chinese partners, but the protection of intellectual property rights, which, unfortunately, is not always respected in China, is hardly discussed at the state level. In addition, there is not enough official support for cooperation in the field of information technology. Even if there are no problems that need to be solved at the highest level in this industry, it seems important to include it among the priority areas for cooperation for further development.

Foreign policy is one of the most important directions of sovereign states’ activity. An especially important place in foreign policy shaping is bilateral relations between states. For Ukraine, such vectors of foreign policy as European, Euro-Atlantic, Eurasian and Asian are traditionally important. In particular, the implementation of the Asian foreign policy vector and the establishment of effective relations with the People's Republic of China as one of the leaders of world economic development is a very important task for Ukrainian diplomacy at this time. The analysis of foreign and Ukrainian sources regarding this topic demonstrates the interest of researchers in bilateral Ukrainian-Chinese relations. One of the important trends in world socio-political development is globalization processes. In this article the author examines the state of bilateral Ukrainian-Chinese relations at the present stage characterized by dynamic globalization rate. In the results of the conducted study one can note that currently there are certain obstacles to the effective development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and China, however at the same time there is sufficient potential for further intensification of bilateral relations between the indicated countries. On the basis of the analysis, one can conclude that among the successes of Ukraine's foreign policy over the past few years, one can identify the establishment of a fairly fruitful relationship with the People's Republic of China: cooperation in the agricultural and trade sectors, transport sphere, cultural exchanges. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the effective use of the foreign policy resource for more effective cooperation with the People's Republic of China — one of the most powerful current leaders of world economic development. It is important to avoid controversial military and political issues. It is vital to establish effective international cooperation with this country, which would allow achieving mutually beneficial goals. This is related to further research prospects concerning further development of Ukraine's relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, in particular with the states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation).
