As a result of the global pandemic, Colombian education is facing great challenges in the virtual world. Currently, social, economic and cultural gaps are widening, especially between public and private universities in Colombia. It is therefore necessary to investigate teaching practices in the virtual world under different social conditions.  This article aims to describe and analyze experiences, which constitute a baseline for the projection of didactic and pedagogical strategies for the teaching of disciplinary knowledge in the human and exact sciences. This research is of a qualitative nature and is developed under a descriptive perspective of experiences with interdisciplinary contributions from the human and exact sciences.   Among the experiences, the gamification and reasonable adjustments needed to universalize learning in the classroom stand out. Abstract This study investigates differences between Pedagogy and Teachers' Certificate in Mathematics undergraduates, males and females, from public and private institutions with respect to motivational orientations, cognitive styles and perception of pedagogical practices for creativity implemented by their teachers, as well as relationships between these variables. Three hundred and sixty-five students answered scales regarding motivation to learn, cognitive styles, and teaching practices for creativity. Intrinsic motivation predominated in the private university students and extrinsic motivation in the public university students. The data revealed differences between courses, gender and type of university concerning cognitive styles. Private university and pedagogy students had a more positive perception of professors' teaching practices that promote creativity. Positive relationships were observed between the factors of the instrument of pedagogical practices for creativity, intrinsic motivation and nonconformist transformer style, and between the various cognitive styles and intrinsic and extrinsic motivational orientation.

The recent global pandemic revealed just how unprepared faculty and doctoral students at many U.S. colleges and universities were to teach online. In this study, we investigate the extent to which current and recently graduated doctoral students are prepared to teach online, how they are rewarded for those online teaching skills, and how they could be more effectively prepared. To answer these questions, we surveyed the beliefs of doctoral students and recently graduated faculty members from a Midwestern private university and a Southeastern state university regarding online teaching preparedness compared with those of faculty, department chairs, and deans. We also used data from a summer teaching pilot program to explore best practices for improving doctoral students’ preparation to teach online. Findings suggest that educating doctoral students to teach in a virtual world can increase students’ confidence and ability to teach in this mode and can be cost effective if offered across disciplines. However, while doctoral students believe that online competency is important in hiring and tenure decisions, deans and department chairs do not necessarily agree, and few schools provide meaningful preparation for online teaching to their doctoral students.

In this article, the author analyzes the possibility of using artificial intelligence as a virtual assistant in making extraordinary transactions. The emergence of the latest information technology contains the potential for modernizing corporate law. The author notes that the development of information and computer technologies is largely due to public and private investments. Artificial intelligence can become a tool for making decisions with a faster reaction rate to an event. Artificial intelligence is the next stage in the development of robotics, giving the robot the ability to independently make a “new” decision that was not previously included in the program. The advantage of using artificial intelligence in this case is its ability to process an incredible amount of data (information) in a short time. The article emphasizes that the purpose of artificial intelligence is to simplify human activities. Thus, it seems possible to involve an intelligent robot as a virtual assistant in the process of coordinating transactions made by legal entities in a special order. At the same time, the author notes that trusting an artificial intelligence operating in the virtual world to vote on the approval of a transaction, which may entail a significant change in the scale of society’s activities up to its termination, carries a significant legal risk, both for the society itself and for members of its governing bodies. The person who is a member of the governing body of the legal entity must vote on the approval of such transactions.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the websites of university libraries to ascertain that libraries are effectively utilizing their respective websites to provide easy access to all electronic resources available in the library. The objective was also to a represent a comparative analysis between public and private university library websites regarding the presence of electronic resources with their easy access via the internet. For the purpose of this study, a research instrument in the form of comprehensive checklist of eighteen e-resources was developed to evaluate their accessibility in the websites of public and private university libraries. Twenty university library websites, comprised of ten top-ranked public and ten top-ranked private universities in Bangladesh, were studied for data collection using content analysis method. The findings demonstrate that the presence of e-resources on selected university library websites is still in its early stage, but it has been growing rapidly. The private university library websites are ahead of public university libraries in terms of the integration of web-resources. It is hoped that the findings of this paper will serve to assist the University librarians and other similar institutions in choosing, selecting and acquiring the most appropriate format of information resources, and making these available to their websites, which will both satisfy the needs of their library users and fit within their library budget.

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an ongoing global pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The prevention and treatment methods for COVID-19 are not yet clear. At present, there are at least 287 preventive vaccines against COVID-19 in the world, of which 5 vaccines are available for emergency use as of June 2021, but none has completed clinical trial. Nevertheless, with the development of vaccines, disease conditions in various countries are gradually controlled. OBJECTIVE The vaccination rate has increased in time, and activities in various countries have gradually recovered. Therefore, the focus of the next stage is confirming and proving that everyone is vaccinated to ensure that those without vaccines will not become a breach in the next wave of diseases. The vaccination or RT-PCR test results are all certified and verified by paper documents issued by hospitals or testing institutions. Meanwhile, falsified documents are a major risk factor in confirming the vaccination status and laboratory test results. Although the Vaccine Passport (VP) may become an important key to future global activities based on the current strategy, the problems of document verification and data use among countries have not yet been resolved. METHODS The blockchain architecture proposed in this research can be applied together by public and private entities and be rapidly expanded. Furthermore, the open ledger of blockchain achieves transparency and data accuracy. On the other hand, smart contracts (SCs) achieve authorization and authentication, while the encryption and decryption mechanisms achieve data protection. In order to make it globally available, the international data standard “Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR)” is adopted into this research. In general, this blockchain architecture can achieve global vaccine passport verification accurately and at a low cost. RESULTS The open nature of the blockchain contributes to establishing transparency and data accuracy. Total three entities are included in this blockchain architecture. All of the authorization are public in the open ledger. The smart certificate enables authorization and authentication, while the encryption and decryption mechanism ensure data protection. This proof of concept demonstrates the design of blockchain architecture which, when adopted, can achieve global vaccine passport verification accurately and at a cost country can afford. An actual vaccine passport case was established and demonstrated in this study. Open blockchain, individually authorized authentication mechanisms, and international standard vaccine passports were adopted. CONCLUSIONS Blockchain architecture is used to build the authentication process of an executable international vaccine passport, with advantages of low cost, high interoperability, effectiveness, security and verifiability.

Purpose-The objective of this paper is to examine the factors affecting Bangladeshi students’ intention to be a chartered accountant. This paper specifically addresses factors like students’ gender, previous major at undergraduate level, CGPA, public vs private university status and family income.Design/methodology/approach - The study was conducted using a questionnaire survey with a sample of 271 students from five different public and private universities in Bangladesh. The 12x2"> test was applied to examine the relationship between these factors and students’ aspiration for a chartered accountant.Findings- The findings of the study show that out of five variables three variables, previous major, public vs private university status and family income, have significant relationship with students’ intention to pursue CA professional qualification. On the contrary, gender and CGPA of the students are considered as insignificant factors.Originality/Value-This research is the first study in Bangladesh which identifies several influencing factors for students’ choice to become a chartered accountant. The findings have implications for professional bodies in Bangladesh and other policy makers in their effort to develop strategies to motivate students to be a chartered accountant.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the causal links between public and private university environments and the entrepreneurial intention (EI) of students. Design/methodology/approach The impact of different university environments on the students’ EI was checked using a model adapted from Krueger et al. (2000). The study comprised a sample of students enrolled in business administration from three public and three private universities at first semester (freshmen) and at the last two semesters (senior) in Brazil. The model was measured through various questions and later assessed by principal component analysis to build constructs. Via t-test and path analysis the EI and the antecedents were subjected to a comparative analysis to test the equality of the models across the four categories emerged. Findings The two main types of Brazilian university environments (public and private) do not present significant differences in the way they influence EI and its antecedents. Both the tests of means and the tests of measurement of the structural relations between constructs confirm this finding with only a few exceptions. The result of this study is opposed to other studies carried out in Brazil, by showing that the public university environment is not worse for the entrepreneurship than the private. The environmental effects are mostly equal and they as a whole are not conducive to the development of EI. Research limitations/implications The study comprises business students only, and enrolled on regular universities. It is worth highlighting that evidence was brought to the debate for a group of universities in Brazil. Replicating the study with students from other areas and other universities, as well as students in Master’s and Doctorate programs could enrich the analyses. Practical implications This study provides insight into entrepreneurship education, as to which the university environment is conducive to the entrepreneurship. It brings insights for the development of entrepreneurial universities. Originality/value This study contributes to understanding the differences between the public and private universities environment regarding students’ EI.

Teaching practices comprise instructional teaching principles and methods. Instructional teaching method depends mostly to the skill and information that is found or influenced by the enthusiasm of the teacher. This study was conducted to determine teaching practices and problems encountered in the public and private elementary schools. Further, it sought to find out the following: a) mathematics teachers’ socio-demographic profile; b) their usual teaching practices; c) the problems they encountered; d) the trainings they need; and e) the training plan for Mathematics teachers. Descriptive research design was used in the study. Data were collected from the 15 participants. They were the selected elementary Mathematics teachers. Survey questionnaire was utilized to find out the demographic profile for the teachers, the usual teaching practices, the problems encountered and the training needs assessment. The data gathered were summarized, translated, analyzed and matched with the result of the focus group discussion. It was found out that lack of more comprehensive trainings among teachers with the new trends of teaching methodologies and strategies and insufficient resources and funding; negative views about seminars and trainings and the scarcity of trainings conducted within their reach and capacity were revealed in both focus group discussion and in the results of the survey conducted. Based on the results, the design was formulated to address the problems as identified. Minat calon siswa pada program studi teknik di perguruan tinggi swasta dan negeri semakin berkurang. Data menunjukan  hanya 14%  mahasiswa yang memilih program studi teknik. Pada lingkup yang lebih kecil, jumlah peminat mahasiswa teknik di salah satu universitas swasta hanya 25% dibandingkan program studi ilmu sosial. Tujuan dari dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk merumuskan penyebab rendahnya minat calon mahasiswa terhadap program studi teknik sekaligus mencoba untuk menyusun solusi-solusi aplikatif yang sudah dicoba, teori-teori yang relevan, yang dirasa dapat membantu dalam memecahkan masalah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Data yang digunakan  berasal dari hasil kuesioner mahasiswa baru dan data-data terkait dengan jumlah mahasiswa baik ditingkat kopertis III maupun di internal Universitas ABC.  Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, ditemukan bahwa program studi teknik yang menjadi minat masyarakat kini adalah program studi teknik yang memiliki social senses, diantaranya Teknik Arsitektur, PWK dan Desain Produk. Sejalan dengan teori 4 (empat) unsur dibalik popularitas ketokohan seseorang, hal tersebut didasari akan trend calon mahasiswa terhadap daya tarik ilmu sosial yang bisa menemukan problem solving, kesuksesan public figure, dan industry branding. Upaya meningkatkan jumlah peminat program studi teknik, dapat dilakukan lewat kegiatan workshop dosen keilmuan kepada calon mahasiswa secara langsung serta open house universitas. Kata kunci: kuliah, minat, strategi, teknik Title: Workshop to Increase the Number of Students at Engineering Study Program Interest of prospective students toward engineering courses both in public and private universities keep decreasing. Data shows that only 14% of students choose engineering courses. In smaller scale, in one private university, students interest taking the engineering course are only 25% compared to student interest on taking the social courses. Purpose of this research was to conclude the reasons why student’s interest toward engineering courses are low, and to comprise some proven solutions, related theories, in order to help solving the problems. Method used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Data used comes from new student’s quisionaire, and related data with student’s number studying engineering course in Kopertis III and in the internal of ABC University. Data analysis showed that current engineering courses which have more students, are engineering courses with social senses such as Architecture, Regional Planning, and Design Product. Along with the theory of 4 (four) aspecs behind the popularity of a figure, all caused by the current trend of prospective student’s interest towards the social study attractiveness which leads to problem soving, the existence of success’s public figures, and industry branding. Direct workshop between lecturer and prospective students, and doing open house in the university could be strategies to increase the numbers of prospective student who want to take engineering course. Keywords: lecture, interest, strategy, technique
