The Dimensions of EMI in the International Classroom

Teaching in a foreign language has expanded all over the world, mainly with the objective of internationalization. This expansion is especially evident in Europe, and in almost all institutions the language selected for this new trend has been English. New initiatives, such as ICLHE or EMI, require the preparation and training of teachers in order to guarantee success. Training to teach at the university has been a tradition in some countries and institutions. However, this practice was not generalized until the last decades. After a thoroughly recent literature review and a contextual analysis, and based on the experience in pre-service and in-service teacher training for EMI at Universitat Jaume I, the aim of this chapter is to make a proposal for a research-informed teacher training programme that can be effective not only for today's EMI developments, but also for the scenarios university lecturers will encounter in the near future.

An inquiry science-based education is commonly followed in a variety of educational contexts around the world and is a key parameter in various national curriculum guidelines. The impetus of this chapter is to record the initial and final reactions of science teachers participating in a series of one-year action research and training program that took place in the University of Crete (UoC) in 2013-2016, identify their perception of the first training course, and explore the impact this data had on the program's redesign for the following training session by the technical board. Teacher reactions and responses regarding what they thought had, and had not, worked well in their classes were taken into account prior to re-designing the training program that the new teachers were going to join the following year. Looking into the general benefits as well as challenges, the authors also examined the overall effect of the UoC IBSE training program to participants as reported by both students and teachers.

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, which emerged at the end of 2019 and spread to the world at a very fast pace, resulted in a pandemic affecting the finance industry besides many other industries though at varying extents. Financial markets, which can be regarded as cornerstones of each and every country's economic success, have been adversely influenced due to the fear and uncertainty arising with the emergence of the novel coronavirus at different degrees. This chapter provides a summary of a literature review based on the impact of this pandemic on stock returns and volatility in the stock exchanges of different countries and regions of the world. What has been captured as a result of this literature review is that almost all of the financial markets around the world have been influenced due to the virus. Further, industry-wise empirical studies demonstrate that not all industries are affected at the same level or even in the same direction.

In the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and integration of the Vietnamese economy into the global economy, Vietnam's education and training has been increasingly developed and increasingly deeply integrated into the world. The development of teacher training programs is considered an urgent issue, a prerequisite to contribute positively to the development of education and training in the country. However, the first period of integration shows that teachers have many limitations in practical skills, soft skills, and foreign languages when working in a modern environment. These limitations are due to many factors; one of the basic factors is that the training programs at teacher training facilities are mainly focused on knowledge towards approaching content. Therefore, the development of training programs in general and teacher training programs in particular in the direction of developing necessary skills that society requires learners to have, in order to work and develop their qualities after graduation, to meet the integration needs in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0 is an important trend in the world and especially for Vietnam in the current period. CDIO stands for words: Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate. It is a solution to improve the quality of training to meet social requirements, on the basis of determining the outcome standards, developing programs and training plans; It is also the idea of universities, technical institutes of the United States and Sweden in the early 90s of the last century with the intention of training students after graduation with full knowledge and skills such as: communication skills, personal skills ... and immediate access to the labor market, meeting the needs of the business. In this article, we focus on the solution to develop teacher training programs under the CDIO approach to meet the requirements of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in higher education institutions in Vietnam.

The article investigates how university lecturers taking part in the compulsory teacher training at Stockholm University (SU) conceive of the effects of standardised and formalised training on their teaching. The study explores the emotions and responses evoked among academics when everyone is required to embrace the same pedagogic philosophy of constructive alignment (Biggs 2003), adopt the language of learning outcomes and assign the same standards to diverse academic practices. The article attempts to shed light on different conceptions of the quality of teaching and learning in higher education and the interplay between the lecturers' values of academic freedom, collegiality and disciplinary expertise and the university leadership's values of efficiency, accountability and measurability of performance. The article considers how these conceptions coexist and are negotiated within the university as an organisation.

The findings outlined in this paper are the result of focus groups conducted with faculty at a mid-sized Ontario university. These nine faculty, all of whom have received awards of excellence from their university for their teaching, shared their insights about how they developed as teachers over time. More specific topics explored were as follows: how they first learned about teaching; how they continue to learn about teaching; resources that might have helped early in their teaching careers at the university; and advice they have about teaching for new university teachers, mid-career teachers, and teachers approaching retirement. While many of the observations offered here are specific to Ontario and some of the literature review is North American in focus, the paper offers valuable insights into how faculty learn to be teachers which may be helpful to universities around the world. Cet article présente les résultats d’entrevues menées avec des groupes de discussion composés de membres du corps professoral d’une université ontarienne de taille moyenne. Les 9 professeurs participant ont tous reçu des prix d’excellence de leur université pour leur enseignement. Lors de ces rencontres, ils ont expliqué comment ils ont évolué à titre d’enseignants au fil du temps. Les sujets particuliers suivants ont été abordés : leurs premiers apprentissages en matière d’enseignement; leurs apprentissages subséquents; les ressources qui les ont aidés tôt dans leur carrière d’enseignant à l’université; les conseils qu’ils ont à offrir aux enseignants universitaires qui viennent de débuter leur carrière, à ceux qui sont à mi-parcours et à ceux qui approchent de la retraite. L’article fournit un aperçu utile sur la façon dont les membres du corps enseignant apprennent à devenir des enseignants. Même si bon nombre des observations présentées sont spécifiques à l’Ontario et si une partie de la recension des écrits est d’origine nord-américaine, ces informations peuvent servir aux universités à l’échelle internationale.

Flying in wave is becoming increasingly popular for pilots of gliders and sport engine airplanes. The growing trend of flying inwave conditions can be seen not only in Slovakia but almost all over the world The reason for the increase in the number of the high-altitude flights in the wave is their great potential, which has been demostrated several times in the record books. On the cotrary, for navigation and training flights, the occurence of wave current is unsuitable. It brings with it great risks and dangers that have ended tragically many times in history. For this reason, there is a long and extesive meteorological preparation behind the wave flights. The aim of wave conditions research is to provide information on how to predict wave flow, under what conditions and with at least what equipment it is possible to fly sadely in wave current and what pitfalls and risks wave wave brings with it. The result is a range of information that can be used not only for flights into the wave but also for normal navigation or training flights.

Even a small part of your manuscript that contains plagiarism, can have serious consequences, either in insufficient allocation of notes or even expulsion from the university.

Abstract. The development of cities that adopt smart is very much around the world, many cities in the world have developed the concept of a smart city in all aspects of life from identity to law enforcement systems in the traffic sector, smart cities have begun to be implemented in the city of Jakarta from 2000 onwards, Starting from the online payment system to the use of CCTV in law enforcement in the city of Jakarta, almost all aspects of government have used the system, from absences to public service applications, in this study using the literature review method, by studying many previous studies in order to deepen research that is is being carried out and finding renewable research problems, this research will produce a proposed system that can be used in the future as a concept for the development of a smart city Jakarta, with the proposed system as renewable research from existing research.

In this study we analyzed the primary teaching and training experiences that observe play as a didactic resource to facilitate learning, highlighting fundamental elements and characteristics. A descriptive analysis of the different programs and contents with respect to playful methodology proposed by the Ministry of Education of Andalusian Government (Spain) is presented. The purpose of this type of descriptive idiographic research is to define, classify, catalogue, or characterize the experiences of innovation and projects on ludic methodology. The results show a total of 217 experiences and programs that deal with the use of playful methodology in the classroom. The results conclude that there are training resources interested and involved in the training of teachers in relation to play as a didactic resource. This type of training is carried out outside the university environment and has the characteristics of permanent training.

SUMMARYAfter reviewing the conference topics, the author discusses the technical potential of automation in the wider aspects of technical innovation. The next topic is concerned with automation and the world economy in general, and that in developed countries in particular. Some comments are then made about the manufacturing prospects in the U.K. and their relationships with education and training in the relevant fields. Finally, the inauguration of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Chair at the University of Salford is described in the context of industry-education problems.
