The purpose of this study was to examine perceptions of leadership styles in model youth football coaches. Six award-winning youth football coaches participated, and each was interviewed twice. Within a qualitative descriptive framework, deductive analysis was completed to identify the coaches’ leadership styles, using the charismatic, ideological, and pragmatic model of outstanding leadership. Whereas pragmatic leadership behaviors were most frequently identified, all coaches appeared to have mixed leadership styles. Inductive analysis was then used to examine factors that influenced the coaches’ leadership development. Identified themes were role models, networks of coaches, experience and reflection, and formal, nonformal, and informal learning. These were consistent across all the coaches, regardless of leadership style. This study therefore provides new insights into the perceived use of pragmatic behaviors in mixed leadership styles in model youth sport coaches and indicates that similar factors contributed to their leadership development.

Effective teacher leadership promotes not only students' motivation to learn, but also the productivity and development of educational institutions. My purpose in this study was to develop the Teacher Leadership Style Scale (TLSS) to extend the framework of the charismatic, ideological, and pragmatic (CIP) model of outstanding leadership. Participants were 264 Chinese college students in Macau. Data collection took place midway through the school year, and respondents took approximately 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire. The 29-item TLSS demonstrated high internal consistency (> .80) and a robust 3-dimensional factor solution. Factor loading results showed that the instrument converged well with measures for 3 possible CIP-based teacher leadership styles. Overall, my results showed that the TLSS is suitable for assessing stable teacher leadership styles based on the perceptions of college students, and that it aligns with theoretical expectations.

This study reported on here aimed to determine the relationship between leadership styles (democratic, autocratic and transformational) and organisational cynicism in addition to examining whether leadership styles predict organisational cynicism. The data were collected from 426 teachers (183 male and 243 female teachers) from primary and secondary schools in the central districts of Mersin. The sample was formed by availability sampling, which is one of the improbable sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Leadership Style Scale (Taş, Çelik & Tomul, 2007) and the Organizational Cynicism Scale (Kalağan, 2009). Descriptive statistics, t-test, correlation and multiple regression analysis results show that views of teachers on autocratic and democratic leadership differ significantly by gender and also that male and female teachers experience behavioural cynicism to different extents. The findings of the study also reveal that all leadership styles were associated with all sub-dimensions of organisational cynicism. Furthermore, the leadership styles were found to be significant predictors of all 3 types of organisational cynicism. As a result, leadership styles of school administrators are associated to a considerable extent with organisational cynicism experienced by teachers. Thus, it would be recommended that school administrators attend training or seminars on leadership behaviour and also be evaluated by their subordinates.

The role of integration character education is very needed as an effort to overcome this. So far, character education is identical to the subject of Religion or Pancasila Education only. However, the development of time, the integratio of character education can be integrated with the entire learning process, including the learning process of mathematics. Teachers can also develop and instill character education in the learning process from the planning stage to the evaluation stage. The use of models, strategies, and learning approaches can help teachers instill character values. One approach that can be used is to use mathematic problem solving which includes several steps to solve it, namely (1) understanding the problem, (2) planning for problem solving, (3) solving results and (4) checking the answer again. At each completion step contains character values that can be developed, including values of interest, hard work, independence, negotiation and persistence.
