The aim of this study was to investigate the friction and wear behavior of GCr15/1045 steel under different nano-particle additive conditions using a reciprocating horizontal tribometer. The results indicate that the nano-particle additives could decrease friction coefficient of CGr15/1045 steel and reduce the wear of material compared with the dry condition. Nano-particles play an important role of polishing the micro-gibbosity of contact surfaces during the friction process. The nano-particles of Ca10(PO4)6, TiO2 and TiN can form the self-repairing film on the worn surface of 1045 steel. The analysis indicates that the self-repairing effect of nano-particle of TiN is best and the self-repairing effect of nano-particle of TiO2 is worst.

In this study, the influence of nano-particle on flowability and durability of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers reinforced cementitious composite containing fly ash was evaluated. In the cementitious composite, Portland cement was replaced with 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0% and 2.5% (by weight) of nano-particles. Two kinds of nano-particle of SiO2 and CaCO3 nano-particles were adopted in this study. PVA fibers were incorporated to the composite at a dosage of 0.9% (by volume). The flowability of the fresh cementitious composite was assessed using slump flow measurements. The durability of hardened cementitious composite includes carbonation resistance, permeability resistance, cracking resistance as well as freezing-thawing resistance, which were evaluated by the depth of carbonation, the water permeability height, cracking resistance ratio of the specimens, and relative dynamic elastic modulus of samples after freeze-thaw cycles, respectively. Our results showed incorporation of nano-particles had a little disadvantageous effect on flowability of PVA fiber reinforced cementitious composite, and the flowability of the fresh mixtures decreased with increases in the nano-particles content. The decrease in flowability of cementitious composite resulted by nano-SiO2 particles is more remarkable than nano-CaCO3 particles. The addition of both nano-SiO2 and nano-CaCO3 particles significantly improved the durability of PVA fiber reinforced cementitious composite. However, the improvement of nano-SiO2 on durability is much better than that of nano-CaCO3. When the amount of SiO2 nano-particle was less than 2.5%, the durability of cementitious composites increased with nano-SiO2 content. The microstructure of PVA fiber reinforced cementitious composite becomes much denser due to filler effect of nano-particle and generation of particles of hydrated products C–S–H gels. Both of SiO2 and CaCO3 nano-particle improved the microstructure of PVA fiber reinforced cementitious composite, and nano-SiO2 particles might be more beneficial for PVA fibers to play the role of reinforcement than nano-CaCO3 particles in the composites.

Background: Captopril is the synthetic dipeptide used as an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. Captopril is used to treat hypertension as well as for the treatment of moderate heart failure. Analytical instrumentation and methodology plays an important role in pharmaceutical analysis. Methods: This review presents some important applications of electrochemical modes used for the analysis of captopril. So far captopril has been analyzed by using different bare and modified working electrodes with a variety of modifiers from organic and inorganic materials to various types of nano particles/materials. Results: This paper presents some of the methods which have been published in the last few years i.e. from 2003 to 2016. This review highlights the role of the analytical instrumentation, particularly electrochemical methods in assessing captopril using various working electrodes. Conclusion: A large number of studies on voltammetry noted by means of various bare and modified electrodes. Among all of the published voltammetric methods, DPV, SWV, CV and miscellaneous modes were trendy techniques used to analyze captopril in pharmaceutical formulations as well as biological samples. Electrodes modified with nanomaterials are promising sensing tools as this showed high sensitivity, good accuracy with precision as well as selectivity. In comparison to chromatographic methods, the main advantages of electrochemical methods are its cheaper instrumentation, lower detection limit and minimal or no sample preparation.

The development of a numerical model for analyzing the effect of the nano-particles’ Brownian motion on the heat transfer is described. By using the Maxwell velocity distribution relations to calculate the most possible velocity of fluid molecules at certain temperature gradient location around the nano-particle, the interaction between fluid molecules and one single nano-particle is analyzed and calculated. Based on this, a syntonic system is proposed and the coupled effect that Brownian motion of nano-particles has on fluid molecules is simulated. This is used to formulate a reasonable analytic method, facilitating laboratory study. The results provide the essential features of the heat transfer process, contributed by micro-convection to be considered.

Abstract Al7075–Ti–Y natural composites were prepared by using a combination of ultrasonic vibration and casting. The effects of titanium (Ti) and yttrium (Y) on the nucleation of primary α-Al were studied and the influencing mechanism of Y on the TiAl3 formation was analysed. Furthermore, a reaction kinetics model of TiAl3 under ultrasonic vibration was established. The results showed that the uniformly distributed TiAl3 and Al3Y nano-particles resulted in grain refinement. Y changed the morphology of TiAl3 and the appearance of corrosion pits was related to the fact that Y was dissolved within the TiAl3 structure to form Ti(Al,Y)3. The established model revealed that ultrasonic vibration significantly promoted the formation of TiAl3, and that ultrasonic time was the main factor affecting its growth.

ABSTRACTNanodispersed lead in metallic and amorphous matrices was synthesized by rapid solidification processing. The optimum microstructure was tailored to avoid percolation of the particles. With these embedded particles it is possible to study quantitatively the effect of size on the superconducting transition temperature by carrying out quantitative microstructural characterization and magnetic measurements. Our results suggest the role of the matrices in enhancement or depression of superconducting transition temperature of lead. The origin of this difference in behavior with respect to different matrices and sizes is discussed.

AbstractIndentation creep, load relaxation, and rate-change experiments probe room temperature and 80°C creep properties of a 1.3 μm-thick molybdenum film on silicon. The film, with 0.51 GPa compressive stress, 8 GPa hardness and estimated 40 nm grain size, was deposited using steered-arc evaporation at -17V bias. Despite its small grain size and high hardness, the thin film behaves like bulk molybdenum does: the rate sensitivity of the hardness is only weakly-dependent on measurement path (as with bulk material), and activation volumes calculated based on strain rate sensitivity are consistent with those of bulk molybdenum We suspect deformation mechanisms are similar to those in bulk molybdenum under similar conditions.

Cloud Point Extraction (CPE) as an effective method for pre-concentration and separation of cadmium from aqueous solution is widely utilized. This study involves a surfactant mediated CPE procedure in order to remove cadmium from waste water using Polythiophene nanoparticle and Triton X- 100 as a non – ionic surfactant. Polythiophene – coated iron nanoparticles was successfully synthesized with novel method and as a super magnetic nano-particles (MNPs) for cadmium removal from aqueous solution was evaluated. Polythophene nano-particles emulsifying method have been synthesized and fabricated. Fabricated nano-particle was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and analysed transmission electron microscopy (SEM). Effects of pH, buffer volume, extraction time, temperature, amount of nano-particle were essentially investigated. To reach in optimum conditions, related experiments were replicated and accomplished as well. For removal of cadmium by CPE approach the optimization conditions were gained at pH = 7 , volume of buffer acid 1.5 millilitre , electrolyte concentration (NaCl) of 10 -3 mole L-1 , Trinton concentration 5 %, cloud point temperature 80 0 C , extraction time 40 minutes, and 5 mg of modified polythiophene nano-particle. The calibration graph was liner with a correlation coefficient of 0. 9984 and represents appropriate liner correlation with an amount and concentration. The results revealed that 5 gram of modified nanoparticle can significantly increase the efficiency of cadmium removal.
