In the past decade, teacher leadership has emerged as a key strategy for improving the quality of education in U.S. schools. Major foundations, federal education programs, and professional organizations are providing significant support for teacher leadership as a key strategy for improving the quality of education in U.S. schools. Teachers in U.S. schools have a variety of roles and responsibilities in addition to their primary responsibility of teaching in classrooms. While teacher classroom effectiveness has been the focus of extensive research, the roles of teachers as leaders in their schools, districts, and professional associations have been the subject of less research and analysis. The research design for this study of teacher leadership takes a broad view of the roles of teachers in their school and their profession. The study design follows from research-based constructs of the relationship of teacher leadership to education quality in K-12 education.

The implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into learning activities presents a significant effect on the quality of education, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The present study aims to evaluate the level of implementation of ICT in learning activities for vocational teachers. This experimental research used survey method by distributing questionnaires to respondents with different subject expertise. The results showed that the use of ICTs in learning process has not been implemented optimally. This is caused by the low competence of teachers in the sector of information and communication technology. In addition, the lack of ICT infrastructure in schools causes a deceleration in the development of ICT-based learning models. Comprehensive improvement need to be implemented so that the development of ICT-based learnings model can be performed. The results of this study are expected to provide positive feedback to improve the quality of Indonesian education

This article empirically assesses perceptions of Ethiopian secondary school teachers and education administrators on the challenge of quality of education, opportunities and explores viable options to improve the quality. To this effect, the descriptive survey method was employed. The information used in this study was obtained through questionnaires random sampling technique which was employed to select 72 Directors, 50 vice directors, 71 Supervisor 52 unit leader and 638 teachers targeted respondents respectively into two secondary schools. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The result shows that in contrast to remarkable achievements in access, progress to date in raising the quality of education in Ethiopia has been limited. Most of the respondents agree that the achievement in gross enrolments is good but in quality, at a low rate and has learning achievement in education system remains unacceptably low. This has become a source of concern for government officials, educators, parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders. In addition, the results confirm that curriculum content needs to be relevant to a labour market where meta-cognitive skills are at a premium while providing schools with the flexibility to create an instructional environment suited to local conditions and revising teacher training method in university or colleges.

In this essay the authors argue the need for a new pedagogy in Higher Education (HE). Our hypothesis is that the predominant focus today is on instrumental systems meant to measure the “quality” of education, subjecting the HE-teacher to goal management and frameworks that limit didactic possibilities. However, acting wisely and solving challenges across professions in an increasingly unpredictable world, requires attitudes, knowledge, skills and understanding that cannot unambiguously be defined in advance. Using a reflective practice and action inquiry research approach, the authors reflect upon experiences and research involving the Dialogos approach to philosophical practice, new research findings in pedagogy for the unforeseen and data from the completion of a PhD course for employees from four faculties in higher education. We argue that higher education should focus on open-ended and creative approaches to teaching that includes philosophical practices and reflective “samhandling” across disciplines. All higher education study programmes should to some extent train students for unforeseen events in life and society.

Purpose Owing to high competition in education sector, quality in education has become utmost important criteria to deliver better education service. For this purpose, it is required to monitor the quality of education. This paper aims to prioritize National Board of Accreditation (NBA) quality parameters in engineering education as per student’s needs using quality function deployment (QFD). Design/methodology/approach This study is conducted among students of an institute of National importance in three stages. Stage 1 involves conducting interview with 23 students to find the student’s requirement from an institute. Further Stage 2 involves importance rating collection through questionnaire survey method. In this stage, 228 students have given a rating of each student’s requirement. Finally, Stage 3 involves establishing correlation between student’s requirement and NBA quality parameters that has been done by 20 academic experts and finally making a QFD matrix for ranking of each NBA quality parameter. Findings The result of the study first indicates that among all students’ requirements, job-oriented requirement is the most important need, and ergonomics-based requirement is the least important need of students. Further, to fulfill their needs, an institute has to focus on each NBA quality parameter. But among all NBA quality parameters, student’s performance is highly desirable quality parameter. Practical implications This study will help top management of engineering institutions in making better policies and strategies for preparing their quality framework. These strategies will indirectly fulfill the customer needs that help in attracting more number of students toward those institutes. Originality/value In India, NBA is one of the leading bodies that monitor the quality of education. On the other hand, the institution has to satisfy the need of customer of education sector; therefore, prioritization of NBA quality parameter as per student’s need is one of the important needs that will help engineering institution to focus on a certain parameter to get a good quality certificate and also attract a number of meritorious students.

To ensure quality of education, a language framework should be the foundation on which second language curricula are developed. In 2010, the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), as suggested by Vandergrift (2006a, 2006b), recommended the use of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in the K-12 Canadian school context and presented several considerations for adaptation before it should be adopted and used. Although the CEFR is partially used across Canada, few of the CMEC’s considerations have been met to date. Given this state of affairs, we suggest the made-in-Canada, Canadian Language Benchmarks and les Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (CLB/NCLC) as an alternative. We argue that the CLB/NCLC, profoundly revised in 2012, best embrace the Canadian context and, using Vandergrift’s criteria for a valid language framework, that CLB/NCLC are now superior to the CEFR in many aspects.
