Children will later continue the baton of church service. They will be responsible for the condition of the church in the future. Sunday schools are present as church institutions to prepare them to become candidates for church leaders. The Church needs people who are willing to become Sunday school teachers. The fact is that it is not easy to become a Sunday school teacher, they must understand and learn about the various competencies that must be possessed to become a good teacher and servant of God. This study was conducted to obtain empirical evidence about the effect of teacher barriers on the motivation for Sunday school services in Jebres Javanese Christian Church Surakarta. The population in this study were GKJ Jebres Surakarta Sunday school teachers, totaling 20 people. In the study used data collection techniques that are considered suitable, namely questionnaire (questionnaire). In this study, the independent variables are barriers to Sunday school teachers, while the dependent variable is the motivation of Sunday school services at GKJ Jebres Surakarta. The collected data will be analyzed using correlation test and simple regression analysis at a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there was a very strong correlation between the obstacles of Sunday school teachers and the motivation of Sunday school services in Jebres Javanese Christian Church. The results also show that the constraints of Sunday school teachers have a significant effect on the motivation of Sunday school services in Jebres Javanese Christian Church. Abstrak Anak-anak nantinya akan meneruskan tongkat estafet pelayanan gereja. Merekalah yang akan bertanggung jawab dengan kondisi gereja di masa mendatang. Sekolah minggu hadir sebagai lembaga gereja guna mempersiapkan mereka untuk menjadi calon pemimpin gereja. Gereja membutuhkan orang-orang yang bersedia menjadi guru sekolah minggu. Faktanya tidak mudah untuk menjadi seorang guru sekolah minggu, mereka harus memahami dan belajar tentang berbagai kompetensi yang harus dimiliki untuk menjadi seorang guru sekaligus pelayan Tuhan yang baik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh bukti empiris tentang pengaruh hambatan-hambatan guru terhadap motivasi pelayanan sekolah minggu di Gereja Kristen Jawa Jebres Surakarta. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah guru-guru sekolah minggu GKJ Jebres Surakarta yang berjumlah 20 orang. Dalam penelitian digunakan tehnik pengumpulan data yang dianggap cocok, yakni angket (kuesioner). Dalam penelitian ini variabel bebasnya adalah hambatan-hambatan guru sekolah Minggu, sedangkan yang menjadi variabel terikat adalah motivasi pelayanan sekolah Minggu di GKJ Jebres Surakarta. Data yang terkumpul akan dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji korelasi dan analisis regresi sederhana pada tingkat signifikansi sebesar 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi yang sangat kuat sekali antara hambatan-hambatan guru sekolah Minggu dengan motivasi pelayanan sekolah Minggu di Gereja Kristen Jawa Jebres. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa hambatan-hambatan guru sekolah Minggu berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi pelayanan sekolah Minggu di Gereja Kristen Jawa Jebres.

The role of parents for their children in spiritual growth is very important, and starting from an early age, teaching for children's spiritual growth is not only given to the church, or during Sunday school services but the most important and most important is the role of parents in the family for her children. If noted, there are still many parents who do not realize the importance of their role as parents to educate the spiritual growth of their children. Therefore through this paper, we try to remind the important role of parents in the growth of children.

Juvenile associations in aid of foreign missions made their appearance both in the Church of England and in the Nonconformist churches in the wake of the successful campaign in 1813 to modify the East India Company charter in order to open British India to evangelical missionary work. The fervour which the campaign engendered led to the formation of numerous local associations in support of the missionary societies. In some cases these associations had juvenile branches attached. However, until the 1840s children’s activity in aid of foreign missions was relatively sporadic. Children’s missionary literature was almost non-existent. Such children’s missionary activity as did take place was confined largely to the children of church and chapel congregations; before the 1840s there was little perception of the vast potential for missionary purposes of the Sunday-school movement.

Teacher modeling in carrying out church mission is very important. The teacher as a spiritual leader is crucial for success or failure ministry in spiritual educational, as well as education in all life fields. All educational institutions require theachers not only to be good at teaching but also as role models, as well as in Sundy school education in the church there needs to be a model teacher. The Gospel of Matthew gives an example that Jesus is the example of creative teacher. Specially the verb of didasko (teaching) with various forms used nine times to describe the activity of Jesus as a teacher. The activity of Jesus is more often informed by the word teaching (didasko = teaching) rather than the verb of preaching (kerusso = preaching). That Is why Jesus called the Teacher as a creative teacher, the teaching methods used by Jesus are not monotonous but varies according to the place, circumstance and needs of His students or listeners. The purpose of this research is to describe the example of Jesus as a teacher according to Matthew, to describe the extent of the exemplary teachers of Sunday School of the GPdI “Bethesda” Merauke Papua to recommend the application of Jesus example as a teacher based on the Gospel of Matthew for Sunday School teachers in the GPdi Church. This research uses a qualitative approach; research paradigm, theological phenomenology, because it uses the interpretation of the text in the context of the Gospel of Matthew as a theoretical basis. Data source from 44 participants of Sunday School teachers in GPdI “Bethesda” Merauke. Methods and techniques of collecting interview data. Data analysis using the theory of Miles and Huberman. Conclusion: The Gospel of Matthew shows Jesus as the best teacher and can be emulated by all Sunday School teachers, example: in terms of His caling to receive a vision to serve, carry out a mission as a teacher, understand His purpose to serve in His personality is characterized, have integrity, charismatic, to be responsible, positive thinking, have ethos, nice worl, confidence, extensive knowledge, pull yourself together. In His spirituality includes centering on God, living in prayer, living righteously, living holy. In the professionalism of His ministry that is focused on goals and tasks, understanding children’s psychology, mastering teaching materials, skillful planning, skillful carrying out, skillful evaluating, skillful assessing as a communicator, as a facilitator. Having the ability to serve children is a thing, very important and can not be ignored because children are. The assets of the church and the next generation of God’s church. Therefore the role of a teacher in serving Sunday School children must be an important concern in a pastoral hearing, because church leaders and teachers have a great responsibility for the growth of faith in Sunday School children.

Sunday-school is an important component of the church because it helps the church to produce healthy individuals that become active members. The objective of the study was to examine the influence on teachers’ competence on the success of Sunday-school as a mission field at A.I.C Bondeni in Nakuru County, Kenya. Specifically, the study examined how budgetary allocation, competence of Sunday-school teachers and also how administrative support influence Sunday-school as a mission field in the aforementioned church. The population of 548 Sunday-school instructors, youth, parents of Sunday-school children, pastors, and administrators at the AIC Bondeni Local Church was studied using a descriptive survey design. Stratified random sampling was used to select 85 respondents from the research population.  To obtain data, a detailed self-administered semi-structured questionnaire was used. The questionnaire was pilot tested before being used to collect data for the main study, in order to determine its validity and reliability. Prior to data collection, all necessary permits and consents were obtained. The collected data was analysed qualitatively and quantitatively with the aid of the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences software. Results revealed that teachers’ competence have a positive and statistically significant influence on the success of Sunday-school as a mission field. From the discoveries, the study recommends that AIC Bondeni and other churches should create budgetary allocation for teachers’ stipends, assess the theological understanding of Sunday-school teachers, and create continual teachers’ training and development programmes

The Sunday School Service is a part of church service that requires characteristics of patience in addition to the ability and expertise in teaching. Patience in teaching children is the key to being able to effectively serve as a Sunday School teacher. This article aims to describe the concept of patience in Proverbs. By using the descriptive analysis method in Proverbs, the conclusion is that as a Sunday School teacher a slow ability to anger is needed.AbstrakPelayanan Sekolah Minggu merupakan bagian pelayanan dalam gereja yang membutuhkan karakteristik sabar selain kemampuan dan keahlian dalam mengajar. Kesaabaran dalam mengajar anak-anak merupakan kunci untuk dapat melakukan pelayanan sebagai guru Sekolah Minggu secara efektif. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan konsep kesabaran dalam kitab Amsal. Dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif pada kitab Amsal, maka diperoleh kesimpulan, bahwa sebagai seorang guru Sekolah Minggu dibutuhkan kemampuan lamban untuk marah.

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of Sunday school teachers in organizing a series of learning processes not just the responsibility of filling free time on Sundays. This type of research is qualitative, using devotional theological research methods trying to apply the meaning of discourse to the reader's personal life without being separated from the learning objectives. The results of this qualitative research show the role of Sunday school teachers in preparing the ecclesiastical generation through the learning process as an effort to foster a generation of Christian churches from an early age. The tendency to use the learning method used, namely participatory fun, is very suitable for children, it can be followed through prayer, spiritual chanting, alphabeticism, followed by psychomotor (physical) movements in interpreting the discourse of a number of previously set learning objectives. The children were very loved by God, and the children showed enthusiasm to praise God, they were very excited in a cheerful atmosphere following the fun learning process. Thus it can be concluded how important the role of Sunday school teachers is to prepare the Christian church generation from an early age according to God's will.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peran guru Sekolah Minggu menyelenggarakan serangkaian proses pembelajaran tidak sekedar tanggung jawab mengisi waktu senggang pada hari minggu Jenis penelitian ini kualitatif, menggunakan   metode penelitian teologis devosional berusaha menerapkan makna wacana  pada kehidupan pribadi pembaca tanpa dapat dipisahkan dari tujuan pembelajaran.  Hasil penelitian kualitatif ini memperlihatkan peran guru Sekolah Minggu mempersiapkan generasi gerejawi melalui proses pembelajaran sebagai upaya pembinaan  generasi gereja Kristen sejak dini. Kecenderungan pemanfaatan metode pembelajaran yang digunakan yakni partisipatif menyenangkan sangat cocok bagi anak-anak, dapat diikuti  melalui doa, nyanian rohani, mengabjad, diikuti gerakan-gerakan psikomotorik (fisik) dalam memaknai wacana sejumlah tujuan pembelajaran yang ditetapkan sebelumnya. Anak-anak sangat disayangi Tuhan, dan anak-anak menunjukkan antusiasme memuji Tuhan sangat bergelora dalam suasana riang gempita mengkuti proses pembelajaran menyenangkan. Dengan demikian disimpulkan betapa pentingnya peran guru sekolah minggu mempersiapkan generasi gereja Kristen sejak dini sesuai kehendak Tuhan.

The family is an institution of God Himself (Genesis 2:18-25) aside from the church (Matthew 16:18) obtaining a glorious mandate through God's family to want the birth of Divine offspring (Malachi 2:15), which is a God-fearing and living in its prescribed streets. To achieve the above goal, a Christian Religious  Education of faith became something very important. But unfortunately there are Christian families who are unaware of this and are shifting this glorious mandate to the church through sunday school teachers or transferring it to school (through Christian religious teachers). The writer assesses this distraction on the one hand as a parent's misunderstanding of the mandate or on the other hand because of the parents' inability to handle it. The method the writer uses is a descriptive qualitative with a library approach. The writer tapped relevant resources from the bible, books and journals. Starting with a general understanding and juridis about the family, the Biblical basis of the family and its calling, the family's responsibility for Christian Religious Education and the danger of displacing the function of Christisn Religious Education on the third hand and the writer will eventually conclude that it is important to restore the family's function as a base of Christian Religious Education as well as to accord with scriptural values to be so effective in reaching the goal of bearing Divine offspring.

In the world of teaching, it takes a variety of creativity, so that students benefit from the learning process. The same thing happened in the Sunday School class held by the church. The core material is certainly from the Bible. This includes memorizing Bible verses from certain parts. Students are required to memorize the verses. Many face failure in the memorization process. They have difficulty remembering the verses. However, there is still an interesting method to make it easier for children to memorize Bible verses, namely by association methods found in quantum learning. The problem is whether the Sunday school teachers understood this association method? With descriptive research methods have found a solution that in the process of memorizing with this association method, can increase the number of verses memorized. This can be shown from the results of evaluations that have been carried out, there is an increase in the number of memorized verses that can be memorized by Sunday school students, which increases to 20 words or about 4%.

ABSTRAK       Pelayanan Sekolah Minggu merupakan salah satu faktor yang cukup potensif dalam proses pertumbuhan Gereja. Lebih jauh lagi Sekolah Minggu merupakan wadah yang di pakai untuk mengajar anak-anak sesuai dengan pertumbuhan usia mereka. Pelayanan Sekolah Minggu membawa pengaruh yang positif terhadap pertumbuhan Gereja, karena anak-anak Sekolah Minggu akan menjadi generasi penerus Gereja yang melanjutkan tugas dan tanggung jawab Gereja sebagai saksi Kristus di tengah-tengah dunia yang penuh dengan tantangan ini. Tantangan yang akan di hadapi oleh Gereja pada masa yang akan datang semakin banyak di karenakan perubahan zaman dunia modern yang sudah tidak lagi mementingkan ajaran agama.   ABSTRACT         Sunday School service is one of the factors that is quite potential in the process of Church growth. Furthermore, Sunday School is a place that is used to teach children according to their age growth. Sunday School services have a positive influence on the growth of the Church, because Sunday School children will become the next generation of the Church who continue the Church's duties and responsibilities as witnesses of Christ in the midst of this challenging world. The challenges that will be faced by the Church in the future will be more and more due to the changes in the modern world era that are no longer concerned with religious teachings.

A well-organized Sunday School can be the right means for the church to educate children in their spiritual growth so that one day they become a beautiful future for the church and the nation. Church participation through Sunday School teachers is an important part of the spiritual formation of children to instill fear of God. Researchers used Deuteronomy 31: 9-13 which is considered to be one of the important biblical foundations to be studied with the aim of being able to develop as a strategic foundation by Sunday School teachers in teaching the fear of God to children. The method used in this study is a literature review of the biblical text in Deuteronomy 31: 9-13 which is elaborated using lexical and grammatical analysis. From the analysis of the text of Deuteronomy 31: 9-13, three main parts can be found, namely: facing God's presence; listening to God's Word; and learning to fear God which will be the basic strategy(conceptual) of the Sunday School teachers when teaching the fear of the Lord.AbstrakSekolah Minggu yang terselenggara dan terorganisir dengan efektif dan baik dapat menjadi sarana yang tepat bagi gereja untuk mendidik anak-anak dalam pertumbuhan rohaninya sehingga kelak mereka menjadi masa depan yang indah bagi gereja dan bangsa. Partisipasi gereja melalui para guru Sekolah Minggu merupakan bagian yang penting dalam pembentukan kerohanian anak untuk dapat menanamkan takut akan Tuhan. Peneliti menggunakan Ulangan 31:9-13 yang dianggap merupakan salah satu landasan biblika yang penting untuk diteliti dengan tujuan dapat dikembangkan sebagai sebuah landasan strategi oleh para guru Sekolah Minggu dalam mengajarkan takut akan Tuhan pada anak-anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian pustaka dari teks Alkitab dalam Ulangan 31:9-13 yang dielaborasi menggunakan analisa leksikal dan gramatikal. Dari hasil analisis teks Ulangan 31:9-13, dapat ditemukan tiga bagian utama, yakni: menghadap hadirat Tuhan; mendengarkan Firman Tuhan; belajar takut akan Tuhan, yang akan dijadikan landasan (konseptual) strategi guru Sekolah Minggu dalam mengajarkan takut akan Tuhan.
