This research aims to analyze the current strategic position of STAI in Kota Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, Indonesia, and its development in the future. This research methodology uses a SWOT analysis of the total population and a sample of 13 respondents who come from the leadership elements of STAI. The results showed that STAI was an Islamic Religious College founded by the local government of Kota Lubuklinggau and Musirawas Regency, and the initiative of Lubuklinggau and Regency figures at that time. During the 26 years of existence, many changes have been seen based on data described in the external environment and the internal environment. The current strategic position of STAI is in the quadrant (IA), which is a stabilization growth strategy, which means that STAI can only grow according to its capabilities, even though business opportunities are still available. In other words, STAI growth cannot be drastic (fast), but rather gradual. So there is almost certainly a relatively greater chance of being exploited by competitors. Therefore, STAI must maximize its current strengths by identifying and then using it to seize opportunities by improving building facilities and infrastructure and public facilities and the quality of available lecturers so that they are not taken by other universities in Lubuklinggau City.

Contrary to expectations, assistive technology (AT) usage by the elderly has not increased in proportion to availability and ease of access. This is despite a belief that technology can contribute significantly towards improving their quality-of-life. Our Rehabilitation Mechatronics research group at NTU Singapore is developing a “unified neuro-physio platform”, taking a cue from Eastern philosophies which emphasize that the “internal environment” of the users strongly affects how they interact with the “external environment.” This chapter highlights the need to bridge these two environments meaningfully through “sensitive” technologies which address the mindsets and learning mechanisms of users. The technology platform we propose helps the elderly to understand and enhance their internal environment in order to interact at various levels with AT in their external environment. It provides a fresh approach to understanding and minimizing the persistent “digital divide” between the elderly and high technology.

In this paper, a quantitative multicriteria futuristic fuzzy decision hierarchy (MFFDH)-based SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis has been carried out to determine priorities among significant factors related to tourism's internal and external environment. In MFFDH model, the fuzzy logic is combined with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to overcome the uncertainty in decision making process. The utilization of MFFDH with SWOT yields analytically determined priorities for the factors included in SWOT analysis and makes them more commensurable. The hybrid method has been applied in connection with a case study on tourism industry in Agra (India) and result indicates that the factors related to tourism's internal environment (strengths and weaknesses) are relatively more important than external factors (opportunities and threats). In addition, strengths group turned out to have the highest priorities while threats group have the lowest priorities.
