One hundred and ninety two sexed broiler finisher chickens were utilized in a completely randomized design to test the dietary effects of calorie: protein ratio on the performance and carcass quality of Broilers raised 10-63 days of age. Sixteen birds (8 males and 8 females) per pen and 48 per diet were Assigned at random to 12 homogenous pens, each measuring 3.5 x 1.75m? in an open sided poultry house. Feed and water were offered ad libitum. Al the end of the feeding trial, 2 birds of each sex (4 birds/pen and 12/diet), which had their weighis close to the pen average, were selected for carcass evaluation. Processed birds had their abdominal and gizzard fats recovered and weighed. Results showed that calorie: protein ratio had no significant effect on all the performance traits measured. However, statistical analysis of mean values for feed intake and feed: gain ratio was close to attaining significant level at P<0.05. Carcass traits (final body weight, fat weight, and percentage fat) were however significantly (P < 0.05) affected by calorie: protein ratio. The study gives an indication that calorie: protein ratio as wide as 178:7 can be gainfully utilized in this country for finishing broilers to market weight > 2.0kg) in 63 days.

This study aimed to examine the effect of turmeric or garlic supplementation to fermented Sauropus androgynus-bay leaves (FSBL) containing diet on performance, carcass quality and meat organoleptic status in broilers. This study used a completely randomized design. Two hundred 15-day-old female broilers were grouped into 5  groups with 4 replications as follows: Diet with 0.5% commercial feed additive (P0); 1.25% FSBL containing diet (P1); 1.25% FSBL containing diet plus 1 g turmeric powder (P2); 1.25% FSBL containing diet plus 2 g garlic (P3); 1.25% FSBL containing diet plus 1 g turmeric and 2 g garlic (P4). The results showed that the use  of turmeric or garlic to FSBL containing diet did not affect body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, carcass weight, meat bone ratio, drip loss, and taste, odor, and texture of broiler meats (P>0.05) but affected cooking loss (P<0.05). In conclusion, the inclusion of garlic and/or turmeric to fermented Sauropus androgynus-bay leaves containing diet did not improve performance and carcass quality in broiler chickens. Any combination of medicinal plants could replace commercial feed additive.

The purpose of this research was to determine the improvement of the carcass quality of broiler ducks with the addition of meniran extract as a feed additive. This is based on the fluctuating price of feed 70 – 80% is part of the operational costs and the prohibition on the use of antibiotics requires alternative feed additives that are safe for human consumption. This research was carried out in Juni – August 2021 in Dayu Village, Nglegok District Blitar Regency. The method used is experimental with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The design used is Completely Randomized Design. The result showed that giving meniran extract as a feed additive could improve the carcass quality of broiler duck including carcass weight and carcass percentage and dit not have a significant effect on slaughter weight. It is recommended to use meniran plan extract level 3% to improve the carcass quality of broiler ducks.

The torch ginger (Etlingera elatior) is a herbaceous plant the flower of which is commonly used in feed to improve the quality of meat. This study was aimed at assessing the effects of giving commercial feed non-carcass portions of local ducks. The study was conducted at the Poultry Farm of Department of Animal Husbandry Djuanda University, Bogor, from June to August 2016. Twenty four 2-week-old male local ducks were used. Completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replicates was used. The treatments consisted of 100% of commercial ration (R0), commercial ration + 2.5% of TGE solution (R1), commercial ration + 5% of TGE solution (R2), and commercial ration + 7.5% of TGE solution (R3). The feeding trial lasted 6 weeks after which the ducks were slaughtered and carcass weight, dressing percentages and carcass parts were measured. The percentage of non-carcass parts including head, neck, shank, liver, heart, gizzard, feathers, blood and intestines were also measured. No significant effect of treatments (P > 0.05) on all parameters measured were found. It was concluded that the inclusion of TGE solution in commercial ration up to 7.5% did not significantly affect the live weight, weight and percentages of non-carcass parts including blood, feathers, head, neck, shank, liver, gizzard, heart, and intestines.

ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS COMMERCIAL RATIONS COMBINED WITH DIFFERENT CAGE SYSTEM ON CARCASS QUALITY OF BROILERS. The objective of this research was to determine carcass quality of broilers fed with three forms of commercial ration using 2 different cages. Total of 96 day old chicks were used in this study using four animals in each cage. Research was conducted using a completely randomized design divided into 3x2 patterns of treatment with 4 replications. Three forms of commercial ration (Factor A) consisted of A1 = Pokhpand Ration (CP 11 ); A2 = Cargill Ration (Avibro) and A3 = Sierad Ration (BSG 101). Two different cages (Factor B) consisted of B1 = Battery Cage ; B2 = Litter System. The results showed that three forms of commercial ration combined with two different cage systems give the same effect on carcass quality of broilers in terms of carcass percentage and abdominal fat weight. Litter system and animal slaughter at 6 weeks of age reduced the risk of breast blisters. Keywords: Rations, cage, broiler, carcass quality.

One of the efforts to fulfill the community's nutritional resources derived from animal protein is by broiler farming business. In order for broiler chickens to achieve optimal productivity then the provision of proper rations in both quality and quantity must be met, but the obstacle in improving the quality of the ration is the cost of ration is large enough. It is necessary to research the feed material that is able to meet the needs of broiler chicken one of them is the leaves kelor. This research used broiler strain CP-707 as much as 60 tail. The method used is CRD (Completely Randomized Design) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were rations with no addition of moringa flour (PO), ration with addition of 3% maize flour (P1), ration with addition of 6% maize flour (P2), ration with addition of maize flour 9% (P3), ration with the addition of 12% maize flour (P4). The variables observed in this study were carcass weight, carcass percentage and non carcass percentage. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the addition of moringa flour on ration to 12% level on carcass weight, carcass percentage and non carcass percentage statistically show different not significant.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of the Ripa enriched with urea, yeast and sugar cane molasses, fermented and subjected to the drying process. Using as parameters: moisture content, Brix, pH, acidity and protein content. We used a completely randomized design with ten replications, two treatments and one control. The model included non-fermented (RNFM) and fermented (RFM) treatments of the variety of Rosinha cassava. Fermentation was performed during 132 hours under ambient conditions, with a 10% yeast treatment (w/V), 4% Urea (w/V) and 20% molasses (w/V) and the other 70 ml of distilled water. Regarding the moisture content of the material after the dehydration period, mean values between 46.42% and 58.33% were observed. The Brix degree of the water treatment and the control samples did not differ, however, differed from the treatment urea + molasses + yeast, which presented the highest values of this parameter. The pH averages ranged from 4.49 to 7.85, differing statistically. Titratable acidity ranged from 1.760 to 14.040. A considerable gain of crude protein was observed in the treatment urea + molasses + yeast, which was statistically higher than the others.

The study was conducted with an aim to investigate the effect of litter density on growth, leg health and litter quality of broiler chickens from d1-42 days. Day-old male broiler chicks (n=400; Cobb 500) were distributed randomly into four litter densities [T1, T2, T3 and T4] treatments, each treatment had 5 replicates with 20 birds per replicate cage in a completely randomized design. Wood shaving was used as litter materials to a thickness of 5 cm, 8 cm, 11 cm and 14 cm on the floor of the pen. Birds were reared on the litter floor open-sided housing condition with ad libitum feed and water throughout the trail period. Data on feed intake (FI), body weight (BW), feed conversion ratio (FCR) and mortality were measured weekly. Litter sample was collected on day 42 to assess the nitrogen content (N2 %), dry matter (DM%) and moisture level (%). Footpad dermatitis (FPD) and hock burn (HB) incidences were measured on day 42 to assess the leg quality of birds. Results demonstrated that litter thickness had no significant (P>0.05) effect on FI, BW, FCR and mortality of broilers from d1-42 days. The N2, DM or moisture levels (%) of litter were also unaffected (P>0.05) between treatment. Leg disorders such as HB and FPD were influenced (P<0.01) by treatment. The incidences of HB and FPD were higher (P<0.01) in T1 and T2 than other treatments. It can be inferred from our current study that, leg health may be deteriorated by using low density wood shaving without affecting growth and litter quality of broiler chickens. Bang. J. Anim. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is an extensively used spice, food preservative and coloring material that has biological actions and medicinal applications. Tumeric, when used as an additive could enhance the performance of broiler chickens in Nigeria. The aim of the present study was to assess the growth performance and haematological characteristics of starter broiler chicken fed diets supplemented with processed turmeric) meal (TM). Ninetysix, two weeks old unsexed “Agri-tech” broiler birds were randomly distributed in a completely randomized design (CRD) into four treatments, comprising of twenty four birds each, with three replicates per treatment (having 8 birds per replicate). The processed turmeric was included at the rate of 0%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% respectively. Feed and water were given without restriction. Supplementation of processed turmeric meal in the diet of starter broilers significantly (p<0.05) influenced the final body weight, average daily feed intake, average daily weight gain and feed conversion ratio. The treatment groups containing processed turmeric meal had poor performance in all parameters studied when compared to that of the control. Mean values of all haematological parameters evaluated namely; packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb), red blood cell (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) differed significantly (p<0.05) between the control and the turmeric treated groups, however all the values obtained were within the recommended standard range of values for broiler. It was concluded that processed turmeric meal can be added to the diets of starter broilers up to the level of 1.5% and also can be safely used as a phyto-additive in starter broiler chickens, preferably in their feed.

Carcass traits and internal organs of one hundred and twenty, one day-old broiler chicksmaintained on different dosages of coffee weed leaf ethanolic extract for eight weeks werestudied. Five dosages (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100mL) of coffee weed leaf ethanolic extract(CWLEE) per litre of drinking water (T1 T2 , T3 , T4 and T5 ) were used. The birds were allocated \to the various treatment groups in a completely randomized design (CRD) with each treatment replicated three times (8 birds per replicate). Data on carcass traits revealed that live weight (2.50kg/bird), defeathered (2.30kg/bird) and eviscerated (2.00kg/bird) weights as well as dressing percentage (81.69%) were significantly (P<0.5) higher among birds on 50mL of CWLEE compared to those on other treatment groups. Similarly, the relative weights of drumstick (16.60%) and thigh (22.28%) were also significantly (P<0.05) better in broiler chickens administered 50mL CWLEE. Relative organ weights of broiler showed that weight of heart, lungs, gizzard, bursa, spleen and kidney were significantly (P < 0.05) influenced by the treatments. It is therefore inferred that birds administered 50mL CWLEE gave better carcass quality and functioning of the vital organs and therefore can be recommended for broiler chickens.

Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of supplementation of organic minerals on the productive performance and bone quality of broilers from 1 to 21 days of age and the intestinal health in situations of enteric challenge from 21 to 28 days of age. In a completely randomized design, with two treatments composed for minerals as sulfate and Carbo-Amino-Phospho-Chelate (CAPC), a total of 900 male broiler chicks were allocated to nine replicates and 18 experimental units with 50 birds each. 640 birds at 21 days of age were transferred to experimental cages and distributed in a completely randomized design, in factorial 2 × 2 (minerals as sulfate and CAPC × with and without enteric challenge), obtaining 4 treatments with 16 replicates and 10 birds each. In the same day of change, the group of challenged broilers received a commercial vaccine for coccidiosis that covers the Eimeria sp. At 7 days, the supplementation with CAPC minerals resulted in higher (p<0.05) weight gain and better feed conversion in relation to the inorganic source. The deposition of minerals evaluated in the tibia of broilers was not influenced (p>0.05) by the source of minerals, with the exception of Cu and Mn, whose deposition was greater (p<0.05) in the bones of poultries supplemented with inorganic source of minerals. There was higher (p<0.05) length and width of the villi and increase in the ratio villus: crypt in response to the intestinal spoliation with CAPC supplementation when compared to the inorganic source.
