Abstract. To circumvent the obvious waste of resources when producing good marbled beef, research is needed to clarify mechanisms which are involved in intramuscular fat storage in cattle. The possible association between the activity of diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT) and muscle fat content was examined in samples of longissimus dorsi (LD) and semitendinosus (ST) muscle from Holstein and Charolais bulls. The Holstein bulls exhibited higher fat content in both muscles and higher marbling score. In Holstein, DGAT activity was enhanced in the LD muscle, and there was a tentative positive relationship between DGAT activity and the fat content in ST muscle. When muscle DGAT activity was examined as a function of DGAT1 genotype for all animals, regardless of breed, the DGAT activity of LD muscle of the K/K genotype was about five-fold greater than for either the K/A or A/A genotypes. Further investigation on the relationship between DGAT1 genotype and i.m. fat is required before this may be developed as a selection tool for marbling.

The development of a biochemical or molecular marker for predicting the propensity for cattle to deposit intramuscular (i.m.) fat would reduce the time required to improve for this trait. In the current study, diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT, EC 2.3.1.20) activity was investigated as a potential biochemical marker for predicting the deposition of i.m. fat. The activities of DGAT were determined in microsomal fractions of subcutaneous (s.c.) adipose tissue, i.m. adipose tissue and muscle tissue sampled from Wagyu crossbred cattle at slaughter weight. The i.m. adipose and muscle tissues were dissected from the pars costalis diaphragmatis (p.c.d.) muscle. The lipid content (LC) of the p.c.d. muscle correlated with the LC of the longissimus muscle (r = 0.51; P < 0.05). There was an inverse correlation between p.c.d. i.m. adipose tissue DGAT specific activity and LC of the p.c.d. (r = −0.50; P < 0.05) suggesting that DGAT activity was down-regulated as i.m. adipose tissue became filled. There was a strong correlation (r = 0.74; P < 0.001) between DGAT total activity in i.m. adipose tissue and muscle DGAT total activity, suggesting DGAT activity is coordinately regulated in these two tissues. Key words: Bovine, intramuscular fat, diacylglycerol acyltransferase, Bos taurus

Abstract. PCR based Screening of the cattle and buffaloe bulls for Bovine Lcucocyte Adhesion Deficiency Syndrome (BLAD) and Citrullinemia genetic disorders were carried out. A total of 330 cattle belonging to 4 breeds and 135 buffaloes of 3 breeds were genotyped. One young Holstein bull was detected as carrier (0.67%) for mutation at codon 86 in the argininosuccinate synthetase gene locus. Two young Holstein bulls were diagnosed as heterozygous (1.33%) for the BLAD locus. So far no carriers were detected in the indigenous cattle and buffalo breeds.

Love is more than a close friendship. It acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationship. Love is positive in nature and leaves a positive affect on every individual. An individual in love not only feels positive but spreads positivity around. They smile, be kind to other people, behave compassionately with everyone. If the person is happy then he is likely to be psychologically and emotionally healthy. The current study aimed at understanding the relationship between love, affect and wellbeing among young females aged between 20-25 years. The study reported a significant positive relationship between love and positive affect with the significant correlation of 0.29 at 0.05 levels (p<0.05). It was also found a significant positive relationship between love and wellbeing with the significant correlation of 0.58 at 0.01 level (p<0.01). This means that people in love experience positive emotions and healthy wellbeing. The correlation between love and negative affect came out to be insignificant. The correlation turned out to be -0.13. This means that people in love do not experience negative emotions.

The flight activity of aphid pests of wheat potato lettuce and squash is currently monitored in New Zealand using 75 m suction traps However there has been little research comparing aphid suction trap catches with crop infestation levels The relationship between the average number of aphids (Rhopalosiphum padi) sampled from wheat plants and the average number of aphids caught in weekly 75 m suction trap samples was examined A significant positive relationship indicated that numbers of aphids caught in suction traps reflected the numbers of aphids infesting wheat fields In another experiment potato aphid flights (mostly Myzus persicae) caught in a 75 m suction trap were compared with a nearby windvane trap Aphid numbers in both traps reflected similar trends However the suction trap caught approximately 10 times more aphids than the windvane trap Thus 75 m suction traps provide a useful tool for assessing aphid infestation levels in crops

The article deals with the problem of achieving sustainable development. The purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between the components of sustainable development, taking into account the involvement of indigenous peoples in nature conservation. Climate change makes achieving sustainable development more difficult. Indigenous peoples are the first to feel the effects of climate change and play an important role in the environmental monitoring of their places of residence. The natural environment is the basis of life for indigenous peoples, and biological resources are the main source of food security. In the future, the importance of bioresources will increase, which is why economic development cannot be considered independently. It is assumed that the components of resilience are interrelated and influence each other. To identify this relationship, a model for the correlation of sustainable development components was developed. The model is based on the methods of correlation analysis and allows to determine the tightness of the relationship between economic development and its ecological footprint in the face of climate change. The correlation model was tested on the statistical materials of state reports on the environmental situation in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra. The approbation revealed a strong positive relationship between two components of sustainable development of the region: economy and ecology.
