Touat's interest as a hub of secular communications between the Maghreb and Sudan has long been known. Its location in this strategic commercial space has long been an important element in the socio-economic prosperity of this region. The latter was not only linked to these external factors, but also a fertile land, full of diverse agricultural products and ancestral know-how. Indeed, the Touat brings together a series of oases, based on an original traditional hydraulic system, known as foggara. It is ultimately the source of life for the Sahara, which has dragged on for eleven century, to satisfy peasants, with a right of ownership, registered in a document called Zemam. Our intention here is to go back in the historical evolution of this ancestral heritage of the foggaras in the region of Touat, a system which consists of a traditional exploitation of water and soil, based on an ingenious method of collecting and sharing water. , exemplary social justice and rigor in the various tasks of maintaining and preserving the oasis way of life in the Sahara.

This article discusses the marriage system that occurred in the Lampung Saibatin community. This study examines how the marriage system change based on their own needed. This study was an ethnography research that would be described qualitatively, this is intended because the concern of the research is the way of life of the Lampung Saibatin community. The results showed that the Lampung Saibatin marriage in the 1970s underwent a change from a very strong Bujujogh with patrilineal to a Semanda marriage system. Lampung Saibatin community develops a new marriage system using Semanda which is an influence of the Minangkabau people, this is done by Lampung Saibatin people because they are reluctant to be called a failed family or ”mupus”. This study sees that the changes that occur due to two vital elements are that emerge from within the Saibatin community itself which includes privilege and economy. Meanwhile, external factors are new cultures that come from other people, get a better education and government policy.

With the help of an open-ended questionnaire addressed to some 882 Senegalese collegians, we inquired about the opinions of school-going adolescents upon traditional and Western ways of life, including two major problems, polygamy and the bride-price. Nearly half of the Senegalese adolescents (45%) wish to preserve, before everything else, certain traditional virtues such as solidarity, sharing with others, hospitality, respect paid to parents and elders, politeness, honour. Half of the students wanted to get rid of traditional marriage (imposed marriages, bride-price, polygamous marriage, need for maidenhood, prestige ceremonies). One-third of students praised the Europeans' discretion, freedom of mind, know-how, hardworking qualities, modesty. Marriages in the European fashion seemed to appeal to them (11%), but they most envied the better educational opportunities European children had (26%). What they did not like most was the Europeans' racism (26%), then their individualism (21%). The majority of our subjects were against polygamy (79%) and the bride-price (60%).

Uwineza G. Sabano in Family Conflict presents scenarios of stormy family relationships between parents and adult children around various issues. How does the adult deploy his or her experiential know-how in order to exorcise the behavioural imposture and, in so doing, bring about an alternative way of life, the main thrust of which is ethics in behaviour? Anne Ubersfeld’s and Patrice Pavis’ theatrical semiotics and semiology guide this reflection, which is divided into three parts. At the end of the analysis, it emerges that in order to better evolve in his or her life, the child needs constant family supervision.

Purpose External factors such as improper handling, extreme weather and insect attacks affect product quality. It is most obvious in fruit products which have a high deterioration rate. Moreover, decaying fruits will increase the deteriorating of other good ones. The purpose of this study is to derive the optimal pricing and replenishment decisions for agricultural products considering the effect of external factors that induce deterioration. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, the study investigates ways to reduce the product deterioration rate by separating the near defective items from the other good products and accelerating the quick sales of the near defective items at a discounted price. The objective is to maximize the total profit by optimizing the selling price and the replenishment cycles. Two scenarios are investigated. In the first scenario, the retailer offers a selling price discount for near defective products to stimulate customer demand. In the second scenario, the retailer does not offer such discounts. Findings An algorithm to solve the model is derived. Further, numerical examples are developed to compare the total profit for the two scenarios. Theoretical derivations and graphical results show the concavity of the profit function. Finally, the sensitivity analysis shows that the total profit of the discount model is higher. Originality/value This study contributes to a new pricing and inventory decision model. The research provides insights to retailers on making optimal pricing and replenishment decisions for non-instantaneous deterioration items, as well as reducing the external factors that influence higher deterioration rate through separating good products from the near defective ones which are sold at a discount to induce the sale.

The Franks were the most successful of the Germanic invaders of the Roman Empire in the fourth and fifth centuries of our era, and the problem of the nature and date of their settlement, bound up as it is with that of the origins of the linguistic frontier in Belgium, is one of the most complex of early medieval history. It is also one of the most interesting, for whatever solution we find for it must influence our interpretation of the historical evolution which gave rise to the Frankish monarchy on the one hand and to the modern Belgian state on the other. It involves a multitude of interrelated questions: the origins of the population, language and customary law of the Germanic (Flemish) part of Belgium; the alignment of the linguistic frontier between Flemish, Walloon and German; the extent of Germanic colonization in the former Latin-speaking regions of northern Gaul; and the agrarian organization and the forms of land settlement in the same region.
